Synchronising XDA IIs to Outlook Express V6 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello all,
I'm new to this game and have just bought an XDA IIs and absolutely love it- it does everything I want plus much, much more.
The only problem is that I'm trying to synchronise it to Outlook Express V. 6 (via USB on an XP home service pack 1 PC) and I keep getting the following "Attention Required" message:
"Items of one or more information types cannot be synchronised. Disconnect and reconnect your device.
To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must connect this computer via infra-red or serial / USB cable."
I've tried shutting down my firewall (Zone Alarm) and fiddling to the best of my abilities but to no avail. I can't seem to view the error messages let alone fix the problem.
I've searched the forum but can't seem to find any similar posts- so if anyone can give me a hand I'll be most appreciative!
Thanks in advance,
Zap.

As far as I know, there are no synch solutions for OE. You could upgrade to Outlook -- there's usually one on the ActiveSync CD packed with your device.

Critical Error when trying to explore pocket PC using A.Sync

Hi,
Im using an XDA IIs (WWE) sync with MS Active Sync 3.8 and my problem is whenever I try to click the explore button on MS Active sync to view the files on my PPC , I got a message that says "Critical Error....try resetting your ppc and try again", I did just what it says but still getting thesame message. But when it comes to syncing the data with my desktop no problem at all. So it seems the desktop & PPC is communicatiing well.
Anybody encounter thesame problem, please provide me some input on how to fix problem.
Best regards,
Sontats

After Upgrade, The phone cannot Sync & lost the contact.

I upgraded to Schap's WM6 Pro 3.54b ROMs from my Vista, but after the upgrade and sync back the contact & appointment on the first time at night, the next day, the contacts are gone, and the phone no longer be sync to my computer.......
Now I try to back up using SPBackup, but then the contact's application couldn't even launch.....any expert can help solve the problem for me?
Big Thanks in advance......
Sound like you need to upgrade Active Sync
I had similar problem, make sure you didn't sync up as guest.
Otherwise, when it happened to let last time, i check my deleted files on Outlook on the computer and just simply restored my contact files etc.
I really don't know much else, hope what i mentioned helps. i know it's bit vague only because i did it trial by error, and i think i got most of my contacts back.
But i'm using XP and active sync 4.2 i think..
Guess different issues.
My problem seems to be different as there are two problems.
1. the Remote mobile adapter is connected, but the Vista's mobile center doesn't launch and can't recongzie the device.
2. The contact program on the device can't be launch......
Now I can't even re-swap the rom on the device, and it just stuck.... Right now I am using Excel mobile to check on my contacts, and that's stupid
Please help.........
Try deleting ur old parnetership from Vista mobile sync center. and hard resetting your phone again.
hope this helps
i just posted about this too
hard reset sorted out my device, i was geting unknown device and a driver issue for active sync and internet sharing
Whilst the phone is NOT connected through USB, ensure the following:
From START menu --> Programs --> ActiveSync --> Menu --> Options (Choose the connection you use in case more than one) --> Settings (under "If thre is a conflict" choose "Keep the item on my device").
Hope this will help.
I found the problem now
Hi all,
I now figure the issue as I can sync with another computer, and I think the problem is on my vista. However, After I uninstall the window mobile center, I can't reinstall it. seems after I update the driver, it doesn't recongize my device.
Can anyone tell me what are the files and registry that control the connection between my Hermes & my computer, and maybe if I can delete it all, and add it back, it will be ok.... that is just my guess, and I don't know how to do that, please help me.......Thanks

Active$ync Error Code: 86000107 (Solution Needed!)

I need your help on this. I have tried to sync both messchle's 6.1 roms (4.01 touch and 4.0 vanilla) at home and at work. Everytime I sync for the 3rd time (1 home, 2 work and 3 back home again) I get this same error (86000107) on activesync.
Googling for the sollution ive tried all options (new outlook profile, new partnerships, hard reset, etc.) which would work for a while (1st and 2nd time) but would again hick up at the third time i would sync.
Today i found this thread on the Hermes XDA forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368821
It appears to be the same problem and trouble in solving it. I am wondering if I am the only artemis user with this problem. Perhaps its a WM6.1 issue like was mentioned in their thread. Is Tom's rom any better so this last suggestion can be invalidated?
Will you help on this? Any info?
It would be a great pity if I would have to downgrade to 6.0...
Buggy Wm 6.1?????
BUMP!
75 views and not a single reply! If this problem is related tot WM6.1 i would have expected a little more response, since there are lots of new roms which come out lately.
Well, ive downgraded tot 6.0 anyway and all the syncproblems are solved again. So my best guess is that 6.1 is BUGGY if you want to sync your PPC on 2 pc's!
have been using the wm6.1 now for as long as it's out, bb5.0 from tom and the vanilla and touch versions from meschle now.
have used active sync on my home pc and on the laptop with out any problem.
USB to PC dashed out, cause dashed it always gave me probs active syncen a few time after eachother.
Twiggerdingo, face the same issue today at office. Fix it removing "Task", then "Contact" from the list of stuff to synchronize. Then, put them back and it works now like a charm.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for your fast replies on my post! Happy to see that you have everything working! I use tasks (approx 100) and appointments (700 total upcomming and last 2 weeks?) and depend a lot on it.
I saw the 'tasks' sollution as well and already tried it of course, but it made no difference. Sometimes it works, but then another day it did not. I do not have the time to solve it this way on a daily basis, and with me, the problem came back about 4 times a week (home and at work, on different occasions).
Hope the will be more info on this - and what causes it. Thanks again for your replies.

Although leaving TASK unchecked will temporary fix the problem, but that means you cannot sync TASK.
If you want to fix it properly, please follow these steps:
1: unplug usb cable if you are still connecting it with your WINDOWS MOBILE
2: Open MS Outlook (I m using 2007 as an example), go to File- > New -> Outlook Data File , and create a new PST file (what ever name/ location)
3: In outlook, Tools ->Account settings, then click Data Files tab, click the new PST file that you had just created, and set as default , then restart outlook
4: delete activesync partnership in both Windows Mobile and in your Desktop
5: Plug the WM to the USB port, and it should sync properly again.
6: restore the backup by using MS Outlook's Import and export function
It worked!
i have same problem, my solution:
first backup all data in phone (contacts, messages, calendar, ...)
check which category is problem (Contacts, Calendar, Task, ...) - in setting remove all checkboxes and let synchronize, then add one category and synchronize go on until you get error
uncheck problem category, delete all data in PC in problem category and let synchronize again then add category back - should be ok

Ive tried this as well and yes it worked (for a while). 2 syncs later the same thing reoccured. Strange thing is that pre 6.1 roms give me no problems whatsoever.

Just joining this thread.. yes it happens to me too...
and reoccurs...
I wondered:
Is PIM backup/restore the culprit?
I have a main Pc and a laptop which share info.
Any similarities?

Suggestion
Have you tried this?
Open registry (using something like task manager). Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Version and change from ".1.0.0" to ".4.0.2"
Let me know if that works!

This registry edit don't work for me. I have same error for calender sync between outlook 2003 and outlook 2002. Other Task and note can sync without error.
I faced the same problem a few days ago. Im using HTC Prophet and using one of WM 6.1 builds.
86000107
I have the same problem on my kaiser.
However, mine only occurs after syncing at home AND at work. If I reset my device and resync with my home machine only, the problem goes away.
(having read the 1st post again, it may be exactly the same symptom - I will syncing again at work on Monday, and then back at home.
Why are people pointing to thier PCs as the problem when the common thing with this scenario is the wm device itself, and the fact that when I hard reset, it syncs ok again... maybe there's a problem with activesync on the WM device in this multi-sync situation?

Looks like my problem is that I need to sync with microsoft exchange directly at work. I will try syncing at home again tonight and then at work tomorrow to see if the problem has gone...
Right now I deleted partnership between PC and phone and erased all stuff (contacts, notes, calendar and tasks) in Outlook (there were some deplicities anyway so I had to clean it). I created new partnership. During sync it told me that it can not sync 3 notes in calendar so I erased them and did sync again. It finished properly and its working now.
Lets see if it will stay like that.

Nope, sync'd at home and got the same error - and my calendar won't sync now...
What now. If I delete the partnerships, I can sync to either machine ok, but not both...
I wonder if it's a 6.1 problem?
I am now in the situation where syncing at work is fine - I sync direct with microsoft exchange for contacts/calendar/email/tasks and have a work profile for the notes. Great.
Now I need to be able to sync contacts/calendar/tasks/notes at home... I'll keep trying...
It seems that this 86000107 is some sort of catch-all. No-one seems to know exactly what it's all about. Is there any logging I can switch on and look at to identify the error?
same here...
Hi!
i've got the same problem:
at home I'm running Vista Home Premium SP1, Office 2007 SP1 and MS SyncCenter 6.1
at work it's XP pro SP2, Office 2003 SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5
I can sync my Kaiser (Dutty's WM6) with each single of them without a problem, but not with both - as soon i connect it to the second machine an sync starts, it gives the error 86000107
no clue what to try next...
bye,
Martin
Had the same error, many people don't flash their roms twice. I decided to give it a shot:
1: Hard-Reset your device
2: At PIN connect device then flash Touch 4.01
3: At PIN flash again Touch 4.01
4: At PIN flash radio 03.08.90
This takes some time, but now my device runs flawlessly! Try it out...

Hello there, IF this works, it would be great! are u for sure to have synced it 3times (i mean at home-work-home) after reflashing twice?
Sure the error doesn't reappear?
I now have the same problem.
After reinstalling Office 2003 and active sync the problem is still there.
I hard resetted the ROM and installed a backup that didnt have this problem, and also this didnt resolve it.
I did see that the problem is with the Calander.
It is a strainge problem because it came out of nothing

Gone on Long Enough !!!

Synch problem
OK ...
Finally posting on this problem - hoping others have experienced it and can help with a solution. I have a T-Mobile Dash WM6.1 (though this problem happened with WM 5 and 6), synching to a Vista Machine (Windows Mobile Device Center). This has happened on multiple machines/setups and different Dashes.
Every so often (maybe twice a week), when I synch - I get the dreaded little red-x in the corner of the "synch center" icon in the task bar, indicating a problem. Activesynch in my dash says Attention Required: "There has been a change made on your server that requires you to re-synchronize all items on your device ..."
Ugh. First - this takes a long time. Second - I lose my speed-dial and voice tags for my contacts. All a pain in the a**.
For months, I have been trying to figure out the rhyme or reason for this. It's happened with freshly booted PC and Dash. It's happened when nothing significant has occured (changes, disruptions) ... I've tried different bluetooth ports, wires (trying anything)
The closest thing I can think of is that it happens when I modify a contact, but I am grasping at straws.
Has anyone experienced this, and is there a solution?
Thanks!
Been there...
I've had that kind of problem when I tried to sync my outlook e-mails into my device, tried lots of things ("disable advanced USB connection" is one of the most famous suggestions) but what ultimately work for me was giving up on syncing my outlook e-mails and having my pop mail accounts setup on the device and downloading them every so often to keep it up to date with my outlook...
Anyways, try googleing for the error number or the phrase you get in the error box between "". But don't get your hopes too high tough: the problem is well documented and very spoken of but M$ doesn't seem to care much about it to come up with a solution (not even an official response, if my recollection is not mistaken).
Well, good luck and cheers.
Well, Synching outlook emails is the lowest of my priorities. Synching appointments, tasks and contacts are more important. Thanks anyway.
Thanks for your suggestion that I try to use google to find the error message. I never thought of that. Google. Are they a new startup?
; )

ActiveSync will no longer start when connected via USB

The other day I was stuck at the airport so I decided to thether my Tilt2 to my laptop. I did this all the time with my original Tilt, but my first time with the T2. Although I can connect the T2 to my laptop via AS (4.5, no partnership) this time the laptop saw the T2 as "new hardware" and since I don't have admin rights I could not "install." Since then whenever I connect my T2 to either my laptop or home PC (or any PC I assume) the device connects (you can hear the sound when you attach a USB device) but AS on the T2 never starts. I always forget something, but here goes:
Stock HTC/AT&T ROM
I have two partnerships, one with my work Exchange server and one with my home PC
The Exchange server partnership, via data connection, works just fine
I have tried unchecking the box under settings/connections/USB to PC/enable faster data connection
I reanabled "Ask me first about USB connection...."
I *can* connect as a "Disk Drive"
I can't just delete the USB partnership. I have to have that setup before my Exchange partnership as that enforces polices and I can't set up any new partnerships.
I probably could do a hard reset, but am hoping to avoid that
I've searched and searched, so I hope I didn't miss some easy key words.
Same stuff happening to me... What's weird is that the problem begun to show just like that, without installing any new apps or mods... Wonder why.
Unless it's a Rom related issue (running stock too atm) which I guess will be reported by other users as well..
Got it! I was trying to help somebody on another forum with a notifications problem which got me to thinking about the notifications queue. Sure enough, replog.exe was not in the queue. I ran (SK Tools) to recreate Active Sync notifications and I am back in business.

Great, will try that too then! Thanks for the info mate
Same problem
Hi ! I have the same problem as you did. Can you please give a more detailed explanation on how to recreate the ActiveSync notifications ?
Thanks a lot !
You need some way to view your queue, either SK Tools or MemMaid (www.dinarsoft.com) will work. If you use SK Tools (www.s-k-tools.com) you:
Select Notifications Queue
Tap Action (bottom left corner)
Tap Recreate ActiveSync
While in SK you might also select Mark Duplicates as dupes can cause issues as well, although more for reminders. When done you should see two repllog.exe notifications
Ok will try what you suggested. Thanks a lot ! Wish me luck !
