Anyone tried this yet? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

Hi, has anyone purchased the "alu-leather book style proporta" case yet?... or anything similar?
Any feedback is appreciated..
thanks

yes.....and its 100 times better than the standard case......fits perfectly on the device....all buttons are not covered by the case and u also dont have to take the unit out of the case to use as a phone or pda.....highly recommended

Really... what about the fit... I mean judging from the pictures alone it seems as if the unit is only held in place by the four stubs. Is that enough to hold the unit in place securely? Because I don't want the unit to fall out of the case(being 1,000 dollars plus) when it is on my belt! And how many credit cards can it hold?
Thanks for your feedback irv777!

thats what i first thought as well but theres actually a plastic transparent sleeve which holds the unit itself...the keyboard side actually slides through the sleeve to keep it in place....i'll post some pics soon if u like

Can you type through the plastic?

of course......its designed that way so u dont have to take the unit out.....

Pictures would be great if you don't mind. How many credit cards can it hold? 'cause I am thinking of using it as my wallet as well.... tired of lugging around too many things... that is why we got a ppcp in the first place...hehe..
thanks again

theres two slots for sd cards and maybe 2-3 credit cards.....but i dont think u can use it as a wallet as the slots are too tight....

sold...just bought one...hehe... thanks now my jasjar will be safely protected...

Umm, I am not sold yet because of the plastic thngy over the keyboard.
How does it change the feel of the keyboard? Can you still feel the separate keys? Can you feel the bumps on F and J? How hard/soft/think/thin is the plastic? Does it cause neighbouring keys to be pressed by accident?

no, the plastic cover does not affect the neighbouring keys at all......i had the same thought like you but when you actually start using the keyboard it feels like the plastic is not even there.....precise keying as before.....well i didnt feel any difference anyway.....

here it is with the plastic cover...

Great! Thanks irv777. Going to the proporta site now.

I found these cases which suspiciously look like the PDAir cases which suspiciously look like the Proporta cases. Only $17.95, half price of Proporta.
Of course I have no idea what the service is like or we would be getting what we see in the pictures. Just that they look like the same cases and the pouch case have better pictures than that of Proporta.
http://pdaden.com/shop/cart.php?target=search&substring=mda+pro

yeh i know what u mean....and also thats exactly like mine......i got mine from ebay by the way..

Well, I ordered mine (I got the pouch version).
We'll see what happens. The company is in HK, so I have no idea how long it will take for regular parcel mail to reach US.

Where's the belt clip? How can you carry this in shorts and T-Shirt?

theres a detachable belt clip that screws on the back of the case just under the camera hole and the actual clip-on that attaches to ur belt/shorts watever.....

Great irv777,
off to eBay...

this is where i bought it from......

appreciate the link. mind posting a pic of it action? not sure what you/they mean by rear cover shell that you didnt install. pics would help many im sure
The middle pic, flat and solid with the clip, which is the part that covers the screen, is what remains. The pic on the right, with holes for the camera and kickstand, is left behind as it wont fit over the big battery. Pics in a bit...
That's not too bad, and with invisible shield applied to the back of the phone you would be doing pretty well. I purchased one of the generic invisible shield kits at Best Buy and cut out parts to cover the extended battery and the top of the phone. Looks decent.
Well that's not really a confirmed case, but I can dig it.
I was going to just get one of those gel skins and cut a hole for the battery. I'm more worried about dropping it and damage that way than just a place to hold it.. I have soft pockets LoL
Not 4 threads down

They sell these at bestbuy you can go in, open the package make sure it works etc.
i will be happy also once some cases come rolling out, hopefully soon
My Solution
I used/modified the high gloss silicone cover (VZW part VZW6400SILHGBLK) AND the holster that came with Platinum Series case/holster combo from Best Buy. It's similar as the Seidio Innocase II except is has Pt letters on the back.
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr3htmec-bk.htm
I ditched the Platinum case (for sale) and just use the holster. It works pretty good and the battery doesn't stick out that bad.
More info about the case here

Pictures below:
That is exactly what I am doing tonight. I ordered a couple of the Amzer TPU cases off of ebay form a US reseller for $3.95 each, so I got two with USPS First class mail shipping for $10.40. They should arrive in the next day or so. I also have another case I am going to modify.
One thing I also did was cut a piece of the invisible shield protector and applied it to the back of the battery door so it looks glossy and protects the back from getting scratch to hell.
I was going to get an amzer silicone case and cut it up like i did for my incredible...i might go with the harder rubber one from verizon so it will hold its shape better....worried he silicone will be too thin with the battery and camera positions...

Demagnetized Zenus Prestige Vintage

So I bought this case before knowing that the magnet would screw up my Note. After a bit of online research, I came up with the idea of installing a snap fastener button in place of the magnet (just like the Mastige series). Looking through Etsy, I found this set of buttons:
http://www.etsy.com/transaction/71729266"]http://www.etsy.com/transaction/71729266"]http://www.etsy.com/transaction/71729266
This type of fastener is probably the more flattened type of snap fasteners. And it looks more elegant as well.
Taking the magnet out was a pain since they were glued on a piece of paper and there were 2 of them each side. Here is the final result:

This is the style man.
Looks hot.
Nice mod looks totally like it was made that way.
Looks good. Have to say I love the aged leather but I'm not big on the studs or embossing. My ideal case would be that one that looks like a leather bound book but they only make them for idevices
In what way did the magnet cause issues? Mine has a magnet clasp, not Mega strong though
Sent from the Awesomeness that is my Galaxy Note using XDA Premium app
supposedly affect s-pen accuracy. i have a small magnet on the back of my casing too, for the kickstand, but have not seen averse effects in s-pen accuracy
From what I gathered, the magnet would not cause any immediate effect due to its relative weak strength. However, over time, the S-Pen and the touch screen would be affected. I would not take any chance to find out how severe the problem will be.
is there hard evidence of this?

Nothing concrete, but you can find the detail right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372112&page=2

i have tested this with the *#0*# Sensors, and Magnetic sensor (assuming this is pointing to magnetic north) moves with my case where my magnet points to. dayum, this is a good excuse for a new case!
I am actually planning to do the exact same thing as you. Except I have the Prestige Origami Diary Series instead (attached below).
Any hints or tips that you could share as to how you went about it? I have checked your supplier link for the buttons (nice find!) and plan to purchase from them the exact same set as well. Seems like there are some useful tools included in the package already, like the button presser / holder thing.
Just a couple of quick questions if you don't mind...
How did you remove the magnets itself from inside the leather? Because I assume you cut into the leather through the top layer with a scalpel of some sort, and somehow pulled it out with tweasers?
What sort of adhesive did you use to secure the buttons in place? Using some sort of glue or just the pressure of the buttons locked together?
How long roughly did this whole process take you?
case
i may be wrong but i am using Zenus Vintage for few month already and havent noticed any problems yet...
Can you post a how to please?
Weird, i have the exact same case and it comes without magnet..
I have a snap fastener fitted originally

There are two versions. You have the latest one.
Where do you buy the new version?
EDIT: Found it at http://zenuscaseusa.com/samsung-galaxy-note-prestige-vintage-g-note-diary.html
the funny thing is that i bought this case with magnetic closure a few days ago without knowing that there is a version with a snap fastener. The good thing is that i bought it for 27.99 dollars from ebay.com. i guess i will have to apply a snap fastener myself.

Griffin technology Survivor

Case is officially out
http://store.griffintechnology.com/...rvivor-with-belt-clip-for-samsung-galaxy-siii
Figure I'd update my OP:
Ok sooo lets start with my review of the Griffin Survivor for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Well if you order directly from griffin you get this nice clearly labeled box.

Inside that box you have the box with the case in it.
(notice the Griffin in the lower left corner, knock offs won't have this)
I got a catalog with stuff for christmas gifts, a little warranty card and instructions on how to put your phone in the case.
Case has 4 pieces: Hard piece you phone sits in, Thick rubber peice goes around the back part, and the top part with the Screen Protector also the Belt Clip.
Once you get the phone in this is what it it looks like.
Hitting the menu and back button takes some getting use to but it's easy enough. The home button is very responsive same with the power and volume rockers. The screen protector feels good, not plastic like the otterbox defender. All sensors and front camera work perfectly as well as the LED light.
Back of the phone feels very secure and easy to grip.
The little flap spins out of the way and doesn't effect picture quality for me. Also the speaker is covered by a membrane of some type.
Headphone jack is easily accessible.there is also a hole for the noise cancellation up there.
I have tested both the straight headphones and a 90 degree angle tip and both fit ( not flush but enough to play music without any problems).
.
Plenty of room for your chargers and the microphone port is there at well.
Since the belt clip can be face in or face out it doubles as a very useful kick stand. And rotates 90 degrees.
Ok done with the pictures. All in all this feels like a great case for protection. It does add a bit of bulk but it's a small trade off for Military grade protecting.
Any random questions feel free to ask me.

I'm not impressed, looks a bit ugly and bulky for me. I'm waiting for the lifeproof case, I'm really liking my wife's iPhone version so if they do a good job with the s3 that's the one I'm getting.
the one in the video doesnt look the same as the one on the website..
someone commented under the video and said it's a knock off
figure when he wrote that he got the case for $15 on ebay

I used a survivor on my iPhone 4 before the Lifeproof came out. They are good solid cases but If you want to shove your phone in and outta your pocket forget it! Also It's far from slim.

this case could survive a grenade
Knowing me I'll put it through its paces over the next week. Idk if I can find a grenade though.

LGOG Premium S Curve TPU Case

Hi guys,
Just wanted to write a quick review of a case I bought on eBay
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190823724544?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Fits all variants of the OG except for the AT&T OG (8MP camera)
Very good for $7 ($3.50 each) - I bought the black and blue.
Cutouts for camera / flash / speakers / ports well done.
Cut out for 3.55m jack more than enough to accommodate jacks with the big outer shell, if you know what I mean.
Case fits very well. No chance of falling out.
Installation was very easy.
The finish on the back feels good to the touch and rubbery side grips are good, much better than the nude slippery glass of the OG to hold now lol.
If you want a cheap case that covers the back & sides, this is the one to go to. Good for Aussies who are looking for a case!
Here's some pictures I took of it

Yeh I bought this case in a local mall close by to me.. Was surprised to see it considering the lack of cases available. Have had it on my G for the past few months and its been a treat.. Actually have dropped my phone twice with it on and its been perfect so far
My only gripe is that the elevated edges makes my screen get dirtier faster and makes it harder to clean.. Otherwise its a great case
Oooo I like the purple colour in the auction pics, but then they have a video of some silicon cases and they look ugly as and really transparent? Wonder if they would ship to NZ
im using the same case but a transparent 1  got it FOC from the stall
L-01E
Do you guys think this could fit a Japanese-spec OG; an L-01E?
Would it rip into the sceen protector and cause bubbles like most of my other cases?
Nope.using this case since i bought the phone.i like it because it's protecting the silver frame.

Just got me a black and blue one, perfect, except the buttons are a bit touchy but you get that.
I've got this tpu case and it shows a smooth finish, the holes are really well done, but I fell the buttons a bit dull, I don't know how to explain. For example, I have some difficulty to take screenshots pressing the Vol Down and Power buttons at the same time. Power button is not so easy to use.
This case looks like to offer a very good protection to the phone. I hope I won't need to prove it...

I have the same case (black). I love it. Fits perfectly. Recently I accidentally dropped my phone on a concrete surface. If I was without a case, the glass or the metalic part were goners. But with this case it was fine. Just wiped the dust.

Hey, fellow Vancouverite here... Can you give me a hint where you found it locally? I know it's been a while since your post, but who knows... I have another case, but wouldn't mind getting this one, as this is exactly what I used for my SGS2, and I loved it. Thanks in advance!
I use this tpu case.
it offers good protection in falls, great price.

[UPDATED] A slightly different slim metal bumper case, working magnetic cradle port.

Hi guys, I have just bought a slim metal bumper for my Z1. Here is the link if you want it too ==> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Luxury-De...lePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item2c76d1781e
----------------------------------------It is different from both this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609711&page=2 and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527493 , since the first one is a LOVE ME! model (personally don't like it, sorry) and the second one I don't know, it looks pretty cool but the owner said that the magnetic charger needs to be cut in order to make the phone charge properly.
----------------------------------------
Actually mine is better, with this one you have still at least 1mm of gap between a flat surface and the front/back of your phone, there are some little silicon felt to grip the phone inside the bumper and protect it from self-scratch.
Last for the best : all ports are made for our phones functions BUT! My magnetic cable is working without any modifications or cuts, I just have to plug and there it goes!
I don't know if my cable is different from the Sony one or if it is a stock Sony one actually (it was branded Sony DK31 magnetic cable so who knows).
I can recommand it without reserve, the seller is trustworthy and shipped it really fast, 5 days from UK to France. The bumper itself is very light but still feels sturdy. Vastly positive impression.
Pictures are here !

This case looks good but will make volume button harder to press especially camera button.
Hav exactly this one...bought on aliexpress...its pretty good and all, sturdy and with rubber on the internal side to protect the phone from shocks, but i hav to say, makes the phone a little bit too big for my taste, when i take it out the case i remember how beautiful this phone is...and its too big to fit in my magnetic dock

This is true for the volume button, when you want to find them on the go it is harder to press, but the camera button is not this hard to press, I was surprised.

You're right! Our phones are so beautiful when naked. But I don't trust the skinomi protection, it cannot withstand falls I think so it might be the "best compromise" for us.
