help with bt choice - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

do i go for the sony HBH-662 or the jabra bt800 ?
ive been looking at both and can not make my mind up, i know there is a few of you using the sony one, anyone got the bt800?

I bought the BT800 and had to RMA it the 2nd day I had it. The cover that is to the outside broke. I am waiting for it to be replaced. However, I did find that the BT800 is quite heavy on the ear. Also, it tends to flip away from the ear if you tilt your head a little.
I didn't have it long enough to try all the features so I can't speak as to how well it actually works.

How to: modify jawbone earbud with Jabra miniGels and Jabra EarGels

A lot of people have issues with some of the third party ear buds to stick or fit well to their jawbone, well I will show how easy it is to take your original jawbone earbuds and modify them to your favorite Jabra ear bud.
I have some pictures so I will put that together with some basic steps, the only other thing missing is a good adhesive/glue that works well with rubber on plastic, if anyone has some good suggestions I will put it here.
But this is a sure way to fit your Jabra MiniGel or Jabra EarGel exactly as you would the original jawbone earbuds
waiting for this thanks...

This has been done before.. Search the Internet for it.. I did it back in June but did not take any pictures of the setup..

Dash speaker

The speaker in my Dash has gone bad. There is one on eBay, but no way I'm paying $40 shipped for a speaker the size of a thumbnail. I saw there are HTC Touch speakers that look identical for $16 shipped. I don't suppose anyone knows if Touch speakers are the same? I asked the seller for dimensions, but no telling if they'll bother to answer.
Gnat, I have a spare Dash I got off Ebay that looks like crap ( on the rear) but I was able to use for parts (saved me when I got water in my Keyboard for sure). I can open it up tonight and measure the speaker for you if you like. Now all you need are the dimensions of the other speaker and you're all set
Thanks very much for the offer, but I already have the speaker out so I only need dimensions for the donor speaker. Although if you want to sell the speaker from your donor, let me know!
Hmmm, try soaking your bad keyboard in alcohol for a few days, then let dry for a few more. That just might work and you'd have 2 good Dashes.
Gnat, thanks for the tip. I may have to try that. Have u confirmed that the dash speaker's the same as the one u need? If so PM me and we can go from there
I'm in need of a new speaker as well. Mine just started having a tinny, crackled sound, and I can't stand it! Do you still have an available speaker for sale? Is it as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one? Any way I could inadvertently trash something else in the process?
Thanks!
Where were you guys when I was relentlessly searching for this blasted speaker WEEKS ago?! ((breathing hard)) Okay. It'd be wonderful if you could post the whereabouts of a speaker replacement when you find one. lol I can't seem to find any anywhere. There was one on eBay, but it disappeared into thin air!
HTC Touch speaker is the same. I ended up buying one from this seller e2_shop on eBay, here's a direct link to the Touch speakers they're selling: Link
There are plenty of damaged Dash's on ebay. They are just kinda pricey. I got one tonight, and it's on its way. I found this, http://pdasmart.zftp.com/instructions/T Mobile Dash Instructions.pdf
for getting into the Dash. For those of you that have replaced the speaker, is there anything more to it than shutting down, removing the back, unplugging the old speaker and plugging in the new one?
Thanks!
OMG, GnatGoSplat, I needed that link before I spent a fortune for a defective Dash just for the speaker! Oh well, you live and learn. I bought another from your link above because I need the tools to open the Dash. That was a great deal. Thanks for the link!
Glad I could help.
You don't even have to unplug the old speaker, when you take the back cover off, the speaker is attached to the back cover and those gold contacts touch some gold pads on the motherboard. All you have to do is use a small screwdriver or similar tool to pry the old speaker out. I think it's held in with a little adhesive. It comes out pretty easily.
I'm guessing your new broken Dash has a bad LCD? If so, you can replace the LCD and sell the Dash for a pretty good profit. I sold a repaired Dash for $163 once!
Guys I was just wondering if anybody knows where to find a dash shell? I have some deep scratches on the case of my phone and I have been trying to find a new OEM one for it so I can pull everything apart and change the case and clean it up.
EBay? google search?

I tried that but only came up with protective cases that you put the phone within.
search for OEM HOUSING not case or shell

Whoa, whoa, whoa... I don't think I'm on the same page. I was under the impression this speaker was for the earpiece. Do any of you know where to find a replacement earpiece speaker? My other Dash won't allow me to hear the other caller unless I place the phone on speakerphone or use a headset. When I use the phone regularly, I can't hear the other party speaking. Somebody, please...help!

That's the main speaker for speakerphone, ringtones, music, etc.
I don't have my Dash apart anymore and I didn't take any pics of it apart, so I don't know what the earpiece speaker looks like.
Best thing to do is probably to take it out and compare it to the one for other phones. If the Dash uses the main speaker from the Touch, could it maybe use the earpiece speaker from the Touch as well? Here is one on eBay. Pretty good pics on that auction for you to compare.

Great thats awesome. Can anybody confirm that part of the housing is also over the screen or would the scratches that I have be fixed by replacing the screen itself?

Bluetooth headset recommendations?

Hey all, I'm in the market for a new bluetooth headset and I was hoping to get some input/suggestions from people. I have a jawbone icon, and I was looking at the blueant Q2. Thanks all.
I have tried many different headsets and the Q2 is absolutely my favorite one although they now have come out with the Q3 which I'm sure is even better. I just got an email from blueant to get the Q3 for $69.99 with a code. If you want it leave me your email and I'll forward it to you to use.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the input, and for the discount code. I sent you a PM with my email
.
I read up on the q3, I think that's the one I'm going to buy.
Ive got the moto sliver elite, and love it. No one complains about anything when im on it. Its very discreet, and light. The case doubles as a portable charger that holds 2 full charges. The ear piece looks more like a hearing aid than a Bluetooth headset. And pairing couldnt be any easier as it uses NFC to pair. And with the my moto speak app it will read you your text if you want, incoming callers, and you can change the noise cancellation settings. I would rate it a 10 out of 10.

I looked at that one too. That's why I came here for reviews, there are a lot of good/bad reviews for the moto on amazon. I don't know those people, and I trust input from people here (even though I don't really know people here either, haha)
Well pick up the moto from a bestbuy near you and give it a test run, and if you dont like it keep your receipt and return it.

Huge +1 for the Q3, if the 2 is anything to go by. It was a wonderful piece of kit and I can't recommend it enough! I tried a few other models (my friend worked in a store that sold such devices, very handy!) and none seemed quite as polished, or there was always something not quite right about them.
You mean the Q3?

lol, sorry about that, typo. I have got S3s on the mind I guess Seriously, the Q2 was great, it sat in my ear perfectly and had great battery and sound. Wonderful device, I really miss mine but I just had to sell it (poor)
Yeah I think I'll order the Q3, they're out of stock at the moment though. I can pre order it so it ships in the beginning of March. Thanks!
Well, it's ordered. Thanks again SoCalScorpio, I used the code you gave me, total with shipping was $76. A little pricey, hopefully it's worth it. I'll come back after I test it out and leave a review. Thanks for everyone's input.
Wow, my q3 finally shipped today. I'll let you guys know how it works after I test it out a little.
LG Tone+
Battery life is amazing.
I just picked up the plantronics voyager legend and I must say it is awesome! Judging by the options you mentioned you might not like the form factor and that's same way I felt but after using it for a day I love it.
I also picked up a Plantronics Legend, very happy with the fit, sound is great, I often forget it's there.
Now only if I could get more functionality from the bluetooth!
Chip
I've never had very good luck with either of the plantronics headsets I have owned. My blueant q3 should be here in a few days though. I'm definitely excited to try it out.
Alright, I've had the q3 for a couple days now. Very comfortable, good volume, good noise cancellation. It's a very good headset. I would definitely recommend it.

Syllable Bluetooth wireless headset

Finally after 20 years of not running (was a previous XC runner) I started running again this year. I've been through a couple of pairs of bluetooth wireless headphones already. The thing that gets me is the pricing on most of them. I need a headset that plays music while running (and voice coaching for times) and doesn't find itself hanging off my chest or sliding down my shirt. I can't keep stopping to pull them back up. I've had expensive ones like the jaybird X2's and while they are a good headset they are heavy and fall out easily and start banging around until i stop and adjust them. They are also 7x's the price of these Syllables.
The thing I like about these besides the price is that I don't have to jam them into my ears just to keep them on me. The clip over the ear while not entirely fashionable is very practical. You won't lose these. They won't fall off you. They won't annoy you with one side hanging off. The weight of the controls is on par with other units i've tried and is mainly due to the battery being in their instead of the actual ear buds. Now I don't know how many people reading this review have given much thought to this.. but I really don't want to shove a lithium battery into my ear EVER. Water proof or not the risk is there. Thankfully these don't have the battery in the ear buds.
I'm writing this review because when I initially started out looking for a pair of headset I thought I had to pay a lot of money to have a good running headset. There's a million smaller brand headsets out there and it's difficult to take a gamble on each one. This company is responsive, their packaging is what you would expect from a major brand purchased at a retail location and they keep improving their products based on customer feedback. They DO read and respond to their reviews on here ( I did my research here first and noted that they have worked with quite a few customers to make sure you are happy). For $22.99, what else can you ask for ? I could have had seven different pairs of these for the amount one of my previous headsets cost.

Just hoping my wife doesn't ever figure out how much my Jaybird X2's cost me now...

Searching for BT earbuds to use with G6

I'm looking for BT earbud recommendations. Either on the neck or a single in-ear solution.
Long story short: My G6 is having problems with the proximity sensor, so talking on the phone by holding the phone to my ear is difficult because the phone does not recognize when I pull the phone away from my ear. I feel that using BT for all calls would be the best solution.
With Black Friday right around the corner, it looks like there will be several choices under $40.
One model I am considering is the "SoundPEATS Q900" on Amazon, just because of the price.
I am open to suggestions and feedback.
Thank you
