Austria Compact 2 won't take my other t-mobile sim card? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi,
I've tried to use my company simcard within my MDA Compact 2 but it won't work!! Any suggestions? The Compact 2 is probably simlocked but since I also use T-mobile in privat I got no idea why it doesn't work!
I got the new ROM update from T-Mobile Austria!
Please Help

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Your company is using T-mobile
You personally uses T-Mobile
You are in Austria
You used the Austria T-mobile upgrade
Right?
What is the message you see when you use your company SIM

absolutly right!
The SIM says T-Mobile! The SIM Card is working fine on my company cell phone!
This is really strange! There shouldn't be any difference between privat and company contracts cause it's the same network (T-Mobile)
The Compact 2 acts like there's no SIM Card in it

... T-Mobile Austria provided a ROM update to solve some bugs!
Before I switched to the new update I tryed the company SIM - Same result!

if the sim card is old it may not be compatible with the device
it's been know to happen

would it make any difference on an unlocked phone?
Or is it not possible to use this sim card at all?

If the phone act as though as there is no SIM card at all, it doesn't sound like a locked phone. a locked phone will gives you various unhelpful messages. Probably as Rudegar said, in compatible SIM card. I have not heard any thing (case or solution) on SIM incompatibility. Can't help you.

one could always ask for a new sim
i've don that before my network sendt me
one right away

I guess I'll try to get a new SIM!
This will probably solve the problem
Cheers, guys

MDA Compact 3 on 3

Hi,
I need some help, I have a MDA Compact 3 unlocked. I want to use it on the 3 network but when I insert the sim and switch on it says "insert sim". I contacted HTC they say it should work but contact my provider, I contacted 3 they say it might work.
I would be grateful for any advice
Regards
galiceltico
"Insert SIM" sounds more like a broken SIM Card, Contact your provider and ask for a new one.
If the device would not connect to the Network it would at least say "Wrong SIM" or "Locked" or something that indicates that a SIM Card is installed but the phone is not free for the Network.
For me, your message however indicates that the SIM Card is not recognized. Have you tried it in another phone, or cleaned the contacts?
Hi,
I have tried the sim card in a Sony Ericsson P990 non 3 phone and works fine, I was told by 3 that the handset had to be 3g, not sure if the MDA Compact 3 is, I was sold this phone as a 3g phone, but not sure.
I just don't understand why it doesn't work.
Regards
Palavea
MDA Compact III is not 3g compatible handset. This is why it doesn't work. P990i is a 3g handset.

Tmobile Compact IV big trouble!

I got a Tmobile compact IV (diamond) sevral weeks ago in nerthlands. and flash the rom successfully.
However ,there is a boring issue that the machine always went to death when the TMOBILE sim card inserted in. while i use other sim cards it can work!!
I really dont know what is the hell going on with the fuking machine. I even unlock the sim lock and pay for 15 euros!! The mater still exist~~
forgive my bad english . and anybody can help me ?
maybe you have a faulty sim card?? try another t mobile sim card - if you unlocked it and all other sims work it should be fine
Up to what state it boots up before dying.
i also got my t-mobile phone recently.
when i inserted the t-mobile sim card in, it froze the mobile while searching for network...
t-mobile told me that is because my sim card from t-mobile is not activated yet and it usually takes 48 hours before I can use it.
when did you choose to "activate your contract"? did you choose to activate it immediately?
you can try the t-mobile sim card on other phone. it must also show "limited service".
I guess the problem is not your phone.

Weird situation: No service after installing Lovebabyjing ROM

The reason I say this is a weird situation is because I'm actually using an old Suncom SIM card. My girlfriend's phone finally died after going through numerous drops/abuse for the past few years, so I was going to give her my old Dash. Now, the official ROM does that "network is locked" thing, so I figured I would a custom ROM. Well, I was able to start up the phone successfully and use it fully with the Suncom SIM inserted, but it does not find the T-mobile signal.
Is there a way around this, or is she going to have to go to T-mobile and have her SIM converted over to a T-mobile one?

is your phone sim unlock? In order to use other provider< you phone must be sim unlocked>
good luck
That's the thing though, it's not being used by a DIFFERENT provider, but actually by the SAME provider. The only problem is that the SIM card is from the old company before the two merged, so I'm guessing that makes a difference.

Maybe as we have company's that use same carrier yet the sims can't be used without unlock phone.
Eg: BT, Asda both use Vodaphone yet can't have a Vodaphone or Asda SIM in a BT phone without unlock...

[Q] Still Network Locked After Debranding, Rooting and Running Custom ROM?

My Desire came from vodafone on contract, it was officially branded. It didn't come with vodafone software or anything but did originally need a gold card to root it.
I have rooted, installed custom recovery and ROM, gone S-OFF.
Is my phone sim locked to vodafone? I have put an old T-Mobile sim card in and it booted, no errors, in status it does show the phone number associated with the T-Mobile sim and am showing signal. If I try to make a call I get 'mobile network not available'. I'm sure there is no credit left on that sim, so that might explain that.
Anyway to know for sure, I am going to be in the states for almost two months and want to take it with me and get a payg sim card there.
Thanks!
Vodafone don't tend to SIM lock their phones anymore, try another SIM that you know is working (but if you have no credit you should still be able to receive calls)
Im pretty sure vodaphone network locks their devices, in order to unlock your device and be able to put other network sim cards in the phone and be able to use them you have to request a sim-unlock code from vodaphone or buy one online. Im currently in a similar position where I actually have a code but cant use it, most probable because I have a custom rom installed. When you enter your non-vodaphone sim does it not ask for a sim-unlock code?
Edit: I guess im wrong about vodaphone's policy then! Ignore all of the above!

Thanks,
Well, was not able to receive calls but then again that sim card has not been used in 2-3 years so it is possibly not 'network aware' anymore. I'll see if I can pick up a current sim card somewhere to test.
Either way I guess worst case scenario is paying to get it unlocked in the States, so no big deal.
Thanks for the help guys.

How to use other cellular company on Mexico?

Hi , yesterday I got Moto Z Play on internet, it was supposed to be unlocked, so I put my sim card (TELCEL) but it didnt recognize it.
I put other sim card (MOVISTAR) and worked, then put AT&T sim card and worked again, but with TELCEL it didnt work.
So I searched and discovered that the phone is on AT&T.
Looked on internet and found that I can unlock the phone via a code, but in order to do it that way, the phone has to ask for the code when I put other sim card, but the request doesnt appear.
Does anybody know how I can fix it so I can use my TELCEL sim card . . . ??????
If you bought your phone via internet, it must be unlocked, but i think there is a problem with your carrier not with the phone. Here, in Mexico its a mandatory the sell of unlocked phones with any carrier, but maybe it could be an agreement between lenovo and at&t
If you bought your phone at full retail price it must be unlocked by law, if not you can contact the company that sold it to you and have them unlock it for you.
If you bought it with a data plan it will be locked to that network until after the mandatory period expires.
Having said that, it is odd that it functions with SIMs from AT&T and Movistar (Not related at all) and not Telcel. Maybe is you TELCEL SIM that is not working.
looking for an answer y sadly found the IMEI from this phone is reported as stolen/lost, maybe thats why it doesnt work with TELCEL sim card, lets hope the seller answers my complain
thanks everyone for the comments
where did you buy it man?
I bought it on linio.com.mx

Hi, I have an unlocked AT&T moto Z play from Amazon (paid 6,900 Pesos) and it works perfectly with Telcel, so the phone definitely is compatible. However the sim tray allows for only 1 sim card. Good luck with your seller.
