T-Mobile Dash "Engineer Mode" - HTC Excalibur

There is an application on the T-Mobile Dash that will show you all sorts of network diagnostic information. To access it dial *#*#364#*#* on the phone. It's not very useful, but interesting none the less. I don't know if this is available on the HTC s620 ROM or not.

yes, this is available for S620 as well.

I was just looking at this - maybe it can shed some light on the differences between the different radio ROMS? Seems to have lots of info regarding GSM etc.

It's beautiful... what is it?

So i've enabled Engineering Mode on my phone. I can understand a couple of the items that it shows, but does someone have a page/manual that defines what each one is?
I actually know a little about cell phone networks, so a description of each field would be a great start .
Thanks,
A.

It seems that I don't have this registry key in my QTEK9000 so i cannot help you. Sorry.
the key is only for HTC Wizard (and maybe Charmer)
Is there anything like this for the Universal?
I'm all for seeing things that other people don't usually see =)

Dialing Rules to prepend an area code in WM5???

This is one of my biggest disappointments on the 6700's and win mobile devices in general WinMobile5 in particular.
In northern Illinois even if you are calling within your area code, you need to dial the area code.
Being as I dial most of my clients only once from my cell, I don't want them all to be added to my contacts. And since I am calling while driving a truck and looking at a piece of paper dialing on the screen. I WANT TO HAVE A PREPEND OPTION for my area code (unless I specificly dial a different one).
Most $39 phones have this option, and most palm phones have this option.
It can't be that hard to program it (can it?).
After doing much searching, and not getting much closer, it seems (per MS website http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/pocketpc/useyourphone.mspx#settings ) there may be a phone setting that is not enabled that would enable "dialing rules".
These would be in the same area of settings as network time synch, and voicemail notification, etc..
Does anyone know of any registry edits to show *all* phone settings?
There are a few listed around here and on other forums (mostly the same 'hacks' posted over again all over the place).
I have tried all I've found, and while they have enabled what they say, this isn't included (so far).
What I'm looking for is specificly "dialing rules".
Yes, I know they are listed in network settings, but these do not affect voice dialing.
Anyone have any ideas...
Anyone else wish this worked...
Can anybody help me out here?
hacks, freeware, commercial, black magic rituals, anything???
(I have searched and searched and searched...)
My appologies in advance if it is not, but is this in the right forum??
I really thought I would find some enlightenment here.
fixed dialing
I do believe on the T-mobile they call it fixed dialing

Do they have this on any WM5 devices?

WM5 Fixed Dialing
I was going though WM5's menu on HTC TytN and saw the Fixed Dialing under the Start>Settings>Personal>Phone>More
Fixed Dialing is the last option under the More Tab if this is what your are looking for.
Cheers,
ET

I thought about using this feature, but I could not find how to change its options (such as "number patterns"). Do anyone know how to use it ?
Not sure if this is the one:
Start > Setting > Connections > Connections > Advanced > "Dialing Rules"
Let me know if this work for you.
I believe the O2 dial wizard has this (sort of) functionality. You could use the Calling Card function to, instead of storing calling card prefixes, store the area code for the areas that you are in. Then, when you've entered the number for the person you want to call, you press the button with the Magic Wand and Handset in the Phone program, and it prefixes your number with the prefix previously defined.
You might also consider looking at the MyPrefixDial program (freeware - see http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/myprefixdial.shtml), although I think this only works with predefined contacts....

THIS IS THE MOST LIKELY PLACE - however on the xv6700 (apache on Verizon) this option is not there! (imagine that) anyone know how to get this option to show, so I could play with it?

While it looks like it could be the right place - No this is for network connections (i.e. internet, or VPN) only not for voice dialing options.
Thanks for trying though.

I don't think the O2 dial wizzard does axactly what I need, but I would be very willing to try it out - I have done a little searching for it and haven't found a cab file for it, do you know where one is?

anyone know anything new?
anyone have any new thoughts on this?
Does any other wm5 or wm6 device have anything like what I'm looking for?
I am just giving a bump, I really wish there was a way to do this...
Any clues out there?
Do any win mobile phones that you know of offer dialing rules??
well over 1000 views and no one has any solutions, or even hints at something that may help?
Wow, I thought with all the developing going on here this should be stupid simple, guess not.
Maybe, it's not that important to everyone because they don't have to dial local area codes.
You all will have to eventually you know, it may be months, or years, but eventually everyone will have to.
Ah well, thanks for looking anyway.

Question about 3G icon in new AT&T WM6 ROM

Hello everyone.
My first post here, although I have been an avid reader for a while now. I'd like to say thanks to vp3G and others for the excellent cooked ROMS.
My question: I just started using the new official WM6 ROM from AT&T. My fiance and myself both use AT&T 8525's, and I loaded the new ROM on both of our phones. Now, we can be sitting right next to one other on our couch, and her phone will read as having full bars with the 3G icon to the left of them. Then I'll look at my phone and I have full bars with the E icon next to them.
Would anybody here have any idea as to why? Identical phones, with identical ROMs and identical radio versions, yet she gets 3G while I only seem to get Edge, with the phones sitting side-by-side on the coffee table.
I'm confused on this one ...any ideas? Thanks a bunch in advance for any help and for the great site!
-D.
Is 3G disabled in the com manager settings?
Same SIM cards? (AT&T or Cingular?)

Yes, they are the same. We bought the phones a few months back and both shipped with one of the new AT&T SIM cards with the 3G logo on it. I used to get sporadic 3G at home with the older radio versions, but she has always had rock solid 3G on hers. It's weird, I know.

Well, since you looked under the settings>phone; you have the enable band tab reg edit right? If so make sure this is on Auto.
Couldn't tell from your post if you had this exactly.

I'm feeling kind of silly right now...I'm not sure what you're referring to. I open up the com manager in the lower right of the today screen, and then the left soft key becomes a "settings" tab. Opening that just takes me to the phone setting menu (Phone, Services, Network, etc...).
I haven't made any changes to the ROM, just using what it had available.

Ok. Go to Start-Settings-Phone
See if there is a tab on the bottom that says Band...
If you do then make sure that it says Auto on both.
If not then check out the hermes wiki and go to tweaking the hermes registry...
If your are using the 'official' att rom, and if it's anything like the old roms, then the band tab will not be there...

Get rid of operator "Get More..." on T-Mobile USA

I'm running the new "HTC_WWE_1.33.422.1_4.1.13.51_03.07.90_Ship" and my operator comes up as "Get More..." Which is pretty lame. Anyone figured out a way to change this? My digging through the registry turned up nil.
Help?
Chances are, no. It's a feature of the SIM card to be able to hold custom names that the operator wants to display. It's called EONS (Enhanced Operator Name Service, I believe). There's no way that I know of to tell WM to ignore it.
Well shoot, now i'm stumped. On the t-mob ship roms it came up fine. The HTC rom says Get More..., strange. I also have a t-mob wing (herald) and the touch-it rom said the same thing (Get More...).
This seems to be something common with roms designed for markets other than north america. Thanx for the input.

edit: here you go.

good luck. Worked for me. Might have to play around with it to get it to work. You don't have to reboot the whole phone to show the new network name. just go into the communications manager and hit 1 (or turn off phone) then re-enable it)
It works but switches back whenever u soft reset. I don't see the big deal to be honest.

For guys girls who didnt know about RemoteTracker - Antitheft software by Joubert

Guys/Girls since we are equipped with an expensive piece of phone i guess this software is very useful! After all its Totally FREE!
Check it out! it is released by a guy called "Joubert Vasconcelos"
on XDA he is known as 'joubertvasc'!
I guess we all should have this on our HDs i have on mine already totally awesome and working!
this is where you can download the app.
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/
this is where you find support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394203
A word from the Original Site:
"This is an Antitheft software and you can use it to track your Windows Mobile device when it was lost or stolen.
It works catching a formated SMS sent from any phone, MSN, AIM or web sites and then send useful informations back. These informations can have GPS coordinates, list os contacts, owner informations and more.
You can use it to others objectives, like keep your eyes in your child. Use your imagination!
To use all features RemoteTracker has, your device must have GPS and GSM capabilities. If your device does not have a built in GPS receiver, you can get the position based on the Cell Tower it is answering. Please visit OpenCellClient project for more details.
If the thief change your SIM card, you will receive a SMS alerting you and you still can track your device. All you need to do is set an emergency cel number."
Enjoy!
i've been using this app.. really great stuff
UPS this is COOOL !!
I am always hanging around with an expensive piece of hardware, you´re damn right !!!
This will help to make me feel more comfortable with my SEX1
THANKS !!!

Yeah they should actually. the guy who made this app is even giving out code to have it cooked in Roms.
My only question is even if they do cook this into roms, after a hard reset by the guy who steals the phone how will the settings be loaded again to the program? (such as the Number to SmS) hmm.. if they have a workaround on this too it will be so great!
for true tracking & protection and to be "cookable" it needs to be stupid on the device. By that I mean all it knows how to do is call home and report the phone IMEI & Location info. For example:
On hard reset it is set to run as a service in the background.
On New SIM Detection it calls home and report phone number & IMEI.
Server side has info for registered owener of the IMEI. Forwards the message to your e-mail.
If the phone was taken you can send SMS to the number to enable "active tracking" which sends location reports to home on a regular interval. All message sent home are forwarded to registered owner.
If a developer did this they might even be able to make a deal with providers so that the Call Home function is directly to the carriers and it gets built into the Stock Roms.
I use Sprite Terminator. Has the option to remove all your important data.
Usefull thread. but only missing small how to cook this into the touch diam/pro or HD ROM. The main problem is how to make that shortcut fo SMS
