O2 applications - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Well in my search for them on this forums I stumbled accross many versions and different threads, and people couldn't find them at all.
That's why I thought to put these wonderfull apps in one topic.
So far got 3 of them, 2 from some chinese site and 1 from here.
O2 plus has like 3 cracked versions, sms plus just 1, and after 2 days of searching I found a cracked version of phone plus!
To bad I can't find the answering machine yet, media plus nor message plus and menu plus.
Anyone got some more? Might take a look at them and try to make all device versions from it.
Versions (all latest to my knowledge):
O2 Plus 2.3
O2 SMS Plus 1.1
O2 Phone Plus 1.0
Here's the description of the 3:

O2 Phone Plus
O2 Phone Plus is a dialler application that simplifies local and overseas calling. This easy-to-use program enables simpler and faster dialling from your O2 device by reducing the number of steps and keystrokes needed to make a phone call.
•
A special dialler lets you edit phone numbers when you are on the go.
•
You do not need to store the same contact number in different formats and different IDD prefixes.
•
Enhanced dialling intuitively filters your contacts to speed up the dialling process.
•
You can store IDD prefixes, calling card dial sequences into profiles, and insert the IDD prefixes or dial sequences before making a call. You no longer have to carry the calling cards with you.
•
You can block unwanted calls.
O2 SMS Plus
O2 SMS Plus is an alternate SMS application to the Inbox application that allows you to send and receive your SMS messages via a chat style user interface. The feature allows you to view both incoming and outgoing SMS messages or to show only unread message in the same list window. Plus, set up a delivery time for created messages, send and receive vCard contacts via SMS from other compatible devices, and even search through messages for keywords.
O2 Plus
O2 Plus is an application manager that gives you control over the running applications and it comes with 7 Today items that provide the user a wealth of information on the Today screen about operator name, battery, memory, names of running applications, alarms, sound profile, call divert status, tasks and appointments statuses.
O2 Plus provides an addition of 7 custom items for inclusion into Today screen.
•
Divert Profile - Shows current divert status and allows change of call divert destinations.
•
Last call - Shows caller name or phone number of last phone call.
•
Sound Profile - Shows current sound profile and allows change of sound profile when tapped.
•
Meters - Shows amount of battery power remaining and amount of memory space left in main storage, storage and storage card.
•
O2 Calendar - Shows all appointments within the next 10 days. You can control the no. of display lines in option settings.
•
Shortcuts - Shows shortcuts to various applications.
•
Running programs - Shows all running applications.

Extracted Tmobile customizations

Hi Gang - I just bought the HTC s620 so I could use it on CIngular. One thing I noticed though that is missing that I would like to have....the T-mobile Dash has the AO/Messenger?Yahoo/etc chat and email client. Could someone possibly extract that cab installed and post it for us non-t-mobile users?
Thanks in advance/
Seconded! that program looks great. Well done T-Mobile.
I just got the dash, how do I get the .cabs out?
...i'll do some resurche on it now...

They should be on extended ROM I think. Try to use extender ROM unlocker for PPC and see if you can see content of extended ROM. Copy all cabs from there to your PC and then post it here or upload to FTP
TIA
Just be cautious, the IM App they packaged on the MDA used text messages and GPRS. I am not sure if it is the same with the Dash.

yes, it uses both text mesages, and gprs.
Since when do smartphones have extended roms? That's a PPC thing, isn't it?
Did anyone ever figure this out? I need the My-Email cab file. WM6 doesn't include this.
NOTE TO ALL:
This will never work. You cannot use the OZ Instant Messenger client that comes with the T-Mobile ROM, or the My E-Mail client on ANY other network. These are set to go to special servers set up inside of T-Mobile, and can only be accessed through the T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE connection.
Therefore, extracting these will do you no good.

okay, in my ppc I was trying to get the IM app to work with cingular service. I think it may possibly be able to work because I found a few keys in the registry which refered to the server being used and the phone number being texted. cingular uses the same OZ im system as T-Mobile. I think that it is a matter of finding the right settings. my problem was that I did not know the message center number that OZim uses on cingular.
Ok This Just Came Down The Line
Instant Messenger Application Now Available for Cingular 8500/8525 and TREO 750!
START AND END DATE:
4/23/2007 - Ongoing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW:
The Instant Messaging application, currently found on the E62 and Blackjack, is now available via download for the Cingular 8500/8525 and Treo 750. Customers will be able to enjoy access to Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messaging (AIM), and Windows Live Messenger communities through one user interface. In the future all new PDAs and Smartphones will launch with the Instant Messaging application preloaded.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEY SELLING POINTS:
· Mobile IM from AT&T Mobility offers customers a familiar desktop-like IM experience with features that include existing community user names and passwords, a chat conversation window, buddy lists, presence status, and emoticons.
· Mobile IM offers an immediate, yet informal communication option that other communications cannot provide (e.g. voice, email, text messaging). Consumers can extend their desktop IM community to their mobile device and vice versa (Mobile-to-PC and PC-to-Mobile, and Mobile-to-Mobile IM communications), enjoy 24/7 instant connectivity to their contacts, and communicate in environments that are not conducive to traditional voice conversations.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COMPETITIVE INFO — THE CINGULAR ADVANTAGE:
T-Mobile, Sprint/Nextel and Verizon all offer an Instant Messaging application on select devices:
· T-Mobile provides an IM application for select PDAs, BlackBerry devices. The client is pre-loaded, and supports AIM, Yahoo!, MSN and ICQ within one application. Customers are charged on a per message basis, or can use from a variety of messaging packages and bundles which include messaging.
· Sprint/Nextel provides an IM application on select “Power Vision” capable phones with support for AIM, MSN, and Yahoo! using separate IM applications. Customers are charged by kilobyte (kb) usage, and can choose from a variety of data bolt-ons that include unlimited IM.
· Verizon provides an IM application on select BlackBerry and “Get-It-Now” capable devices. The application is available via a download, and supports AIM, MSN, and Yahoo! within one application. Customers are charged on a per message basis, or can use from a variety of messaging packages.
I can probably grab the keys out of this when its available.

heres the .cab file for the "setup my email"
Messaging shouldnt cost with a data package
I thought instant messaging meant that the messages were transfered through the internet requiring a data package. T-mobile had the sidekick set up like that, the way it should be..instead it has yahoo, msn, and aol using sms messaing. I have downloaded getaboo and it works ok with only some minor hiccups thus far and I believe uses the internet and a data package to transmit messages
no good.. oz messenger will no work
Merwin is right, i have a s621 but i don´t use the t mobile network, i live in Mexico so i use Telcel, the messenger will never work, it uses especial servers from tmobile i suposse trouhgh GPRS or Edge connection. I wonder if someone knows if the tmobile home screen with the live and windows media plugins works in other rooms, i have the 1.24.411.1 Russian Experimental Rom WM6 and it works like a champ! but i miss the home screen provided for tmobile...thanks in advanced.

Smart Dialer, WM6 and the PTTfix

I've been playing around with a few WM6 ROMS looking for that perfect one. They all seem to have their advantages and disadvantages. The biggest show stopper for me that seems to be across the board on all of the WM6 ROMS is the lack of support for hte HTC smart dialer. I liked being able to scroll the wheel up for recent calls and down for my quickdial list. This doesn't work in WM6 regardless of installing either one of the two available smart dialer cabs.
Here's what I have noticed. When i first upgraded to the most recently released factory WM5 ROM, the dialer worked great. Then i installed sleuth's PTTfix mod. This killed the dialer and added customization support for button 5. I notice that this customization support is in all of hte WM6 roms. I am wondering if this is the reason the dialer is broken. I guess my overall question is this: is it possible to isolate this issue and get the dialer working again? I think the issue is whether people are pre-baking the PTTfix cab into their WM6 roms, or did Sleuth pull his PPfix cab FROM the WM6 RTM? I am hoping its the former... if it's the latter, then i fear we may be stuck with broken smart dialers until HTC releases their ROM.
has anyone else had any luck?
Thanks,
Jason

Smartdialing and the above functions you mentioned have worked perfectly in WMXL and LVSW..only two roms I have used..
Smartidialing and those features are working great in my fixed custel 2.5 cingular rom + pttfix.cab. Not sure what issue you are seeing.
I am currently on custel V1.3 and Smartidialing and those features are working great for me. they worked also for me when I was running black 2
I have tried Custel 2.5, LSVW (developer ed) and was about to try Dutty. When i go to the phone app all i see is a little white box that takes up full width of screen just above phone's numbers. if I scroll up/down, it just cycles though this box's contents (which includes recent dials, all contacts, and speed dials). With the stock ROM, when i went to the phone app, i saw the phone's numbers and that's about it. Then, if I scrolled up, a window would pop up with a list of my recently dialed contacts. If i scrolled down, I would see a window with my quickdial contacts. This is what I am trying to get back.
Thanks for the quick responses too by the way.
Jason
On to a your problem I suppose...gr8hifi, so what's the name of the cab that you think is for smartdialing?
And if you could, tell me if you have any images in your windows directory with "inidialer" in the name.
smartdialing: MT_PC_HTC_REG_070112.cab
EDIT: it sounds as if you are missing the smartdialer images, since you describe white boxes, grab a dialer from http://zombienexus.net hope that's the right url, Swampy makes some nice skins.

Smartdialing works with Black 3.0.1 as well.
The two cabs I have are: "HTC_Smartdialer2.5.CAB" and "Smart_Dial_V2.2.cab". Do NOT have any images of "inidialer" in windows directory. The white box in the phone dialer is not blank. it has three lines in it. Each line contains an item that can be dialed (contacts for me). I can scroll the wheel through each of my contacts this way.
again,
thanks for the help
Did a seach for "MT_PC_HTC_REG_070112.cab" but came up with zilch. Is this the cab that I *should* be using?
Ahh, my bad, that sounds like default wm6, I dunno about your cabs, but if anything, search for the numbers of the one I posted above, and it also sounds like you are missing the smartdialing images.
edit, I know the cab was posted in wmxl 0.1, just try searching for the numbers only. one min, and Ill link it
http://gfy.zapto.org/cabs/MT_PC_Hermes_HTC_REG_070112.cab
and
http://gfy.zapto.org/cabs/wm6_blackedition_3g_dialpad.cab
I just linked em both, because I know that will be a functioning dialer like you want it, but the skin might not be your tastes.
Tried both cabs (thanks for posting them) and still dont have the old dialer. The black cab gives me a nice skin (i love the ones Swampy makes) but i still have the window with three lines of contacts just above the "1, 2, 3 and backspace" buttons. The scroll wheel does NOT bring up my quick dial list nor my recent dialed/called list. I think this is just a fact of WM6...
Thank you again for your help. I am going to Flash Dutty's rom and see what happens. Will post back in 15 mins or so.
UPDATE:
Dutty's dialer is working perfectly. A scoll up gives me my recent calls whereas a scroll down gives me my quick dial links. Now, if i only knew how to operate the oven in the kitchen... looks like there's a crap load of reading ahead for me. I want Custels' ROM with Dutty's dialer!
thanks again.
J~
Hmm, that is weird it didn't work for you, maybe I am missing something, those are the two I have installed to both roms I used, with no problems, scrolling up goes to recent calls, and scrolling down goes to speed dial

Hopefully you get it sorted, I gotta gtfo and be productive today.
it's the video button. As soon as I disable the video button, the smart dialer stops working. Re-enabling the button does not re-enable the dialer. I am going to just keep the button. It's less annoying than NOT having the smart dialer.
The problem is the phone skin that's being loaded for the smartdialer includes that button, should be as simple as loading a new skin but I don't know how to make one yet...
I don't know if you fixed your problem yet. But, I know what you are talking about. Just use this thread and reinstall the SmartDialer.

Skype 3.0 beta for Windows Mobile integrates two big features from the desktop version--file transferring and SMS. Both are welcome additions that bring the mobile VoIP application much closer in line with the newly updated desktop version, Skype 4.0 for Windows.
The SMS feature has been seamlessly added as a shortcut icon on the contact list page (it's the black circle encasing a tiny cell phone), but you can also initiate a text message by selecting "Send SMS" from the Menu options--the cost will come out of your Skype Credit. The file transfer feature is a bit more buried. To use it, select "Contact Options" from the Menu choices, and then "Send File." This will incur a data charge, so it's best to have a data plan in place before going wild with transfers.
As soon as you ship your image, song, or document out to your buddy, a new tab opens in Skype for Windows Mobile 3.0 beta that keeps track of the transfer and lets you know when your contact has accepted the download. File transfers work both ways, of course, so you'll be able to accept files sent through Skype while you're on the go--crazy photos and important business documents included. File transfer worked without a hitch over our 3G network, as did SMS. Wi-Fi will make them even faster.
After SMS and file transferring, the next biggest change is a technical one that most people shouldn't notice--the fact that you won't have to decide between downloading the version for Windows Smartphones or for Pocket PCs. A single one-size-fits-all download makes installation blissfully brainless. In addition, the beta has undergone a few understated, but useful changes to its layout, like being able to update your status, add hyperlinks to chat messages you may have missed, and the option to buy more Skype Credit.
I installed a older version of skype on my xperia. But, I cant get the voice input working on my headset. I must use my phone's mic to talk.
Is there someting i can change to use my mic on my headset instead of my phone?
Thankx

download the attachment and extract audioswitch.exe to your device\Program Files\new folder(any name you like)
copy audioswitch.exe and paste a shortcut at window/startup
Now you can forget your headset...
Thanks, but thats only for the audio output right? I need to know how I can use the mic input. Tried it with audioswitch but that only regulates the audio output.
If we install new beta Skype so do we need to install Skype panel?

Does it work when you make a normal phone call ? does the button works to hang up or activate voice command ?
Me and many others have the problem that X1 recognizes Headset as just earphones (whit no mic), a workaround is to plug it in while a call is placed , then it will work fine , until you unplug it or soft reset. you could test it and write back here ..
Call any one and while speaking connect the headset, now hang up and make a skype call
Shwan_3...
I haven't tried it. Last monday I returned my X1 becouse I had nothing but problems with my phone.
They sayd that the copper plate in my headphone slot was damaged and my phone kept saying that there was a headphone jack in the phone. So when i wanted to call someone i had to une my headphone :S. I hope I get my X1 back in a couple of days (they sayd 2 weeks).
It's to bad, becouse the x1 is a sweet phone! Now I'm back to my Samsung G600
Crap!
Just got my x1 back! I had to wait like 6 weeks! SonyEricsson has a terrible service center here in Holland. They had to wait for 4 weeks untill the parts came in. And the sad part is, its still busted. Cant make a deacent phone call.
Pff....

This is an HTC Excalibur ROM, based on Windows Mobile 6.5. The current build number and date can be seen in the title of this thread. This will also work on the TMobile Dash (which is what's it's primarily setup for) and any other Excalibur variations.
I always build my ROMs with three main goals.
Eye candy.
Speed!
Smoothness, consistency and good esthetics.
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go, how I'd want it. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications are already set, as well as a background and key shortcuts.
I usually make 2 versions of the ROM. If you don't see one in the download directory, it either means I haven't uploaded it OR I'm not making one for the current release yet.
Here are the different versions and what they mean.
"IE6" includes the new IE6 browser
"IE5" includes the older IE5 browser (less RAM being used).

looks like you're using ookbas 96dpi cab... if you are then uninstall it
MMS
1. There is no interface to configure MMSC setting (had to do it via registry)
2. there is no default app for jpg viewing
Apart from this, seems very stable and fast.
Nice rom.
Did you take out the VPN ?
If yes: do you have the Connection Setup Tool cab ? Then the original HTC cab is too old..
the jpg association can be fixed this way:
open resco explorer, find any .jpg file, choose "action\open with", click "always use this program to open this file type" checkbox, and then choose menu/browse. from list select pimg.exe (this is picture viewer). choose select (left soft key) and done, now the jpg file is opened as usual.
Once again you cooked up a very nice rom. Thanks for the tip on how to fix the .jpg association issue. I just found it when trying different things out and someone already posted the fix for it.
Anyway it does seem that the connection setup does use older data then what I had before. It has not caused a problem yet but just thought I would mention it.
No voice dial?
Just found out, the long pressing of home key opens "All notes", and there is no way to record a voice dial for my contacts...
I understand there are people with no use for voice dial, but is there a cab out there to fix this?

Another workaround for the .JPG issue is install XNVIEW app.. it´s free and it´s not a big fat pig (when you think about resources)... Grab it here.
Nice job, Nrg. Thank you.
I´m updating my guide for Brazilian people now...

Its called... Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 for smartphones. If and when you get it installed, In the voice command setup. for the voice button use App3.
stuck at 3%
what am I doing wrong? I try to load this program and it gets to 3% then tells me the file is corrupt and then the phone reboots. re-downloaded the file several times with same result
How is everyone doing with wifi in this release? In the other thread some folks mentioned that wifi wasn't working well. I haven't had a chance to install this version yet but wifi is a deal breaker for me if it does not work. Thanks.

It is working for me at work today..I don't know why it glitched out on me yesterday at home, but it completely froze my phone up and had to pull the battery. So far so good...
Microsoft Voice Command works well only for English Speakers, as it does not require voice tags for contacts.
As nearly all my contacts have foreign names, it seems i need a different app.
Tried installing Cyberon speed voice dial 1.2, but there seems to be no way to add voice tags to contacts, so it always says there are no recorded tags.
Had no problems with the WiFi on this ROM... my home WPA network works fine.
nrg, any chance of getting the IE5 version uploaded? Thanks
I have set my pictures to open with HTC Album, which works ok, but it seems to be causing some other issues with MMS messages. I try to attach a picture and it does not want to insert it correctly into the MMS message. It just shows the preview icon and not the picture itself.

I seriously need some tone help!

I realise that this is not a new phone but it is to me (£27 off Ebay!) and I've had it two days and am pulling my hair out!
HOW do you change the text tone?
HOW do you change the alarm tone?
I have converted them to .wav files and copied them into the /windows folder and I can even see them on the drop down list but it wont let me select either, just goes back to 'default'.
I don't ask for much in life but this little want seems to be way out of my reach and I'm fed up
Please can someone help - in idiot terms as I'm just not getting this!!
Thank you in advance
in general, all sounds that are not the call ringtone itself, are changed through "sounds and notifications" in the settings. however, the call ringtone is the only one, that can be changed to whatever you like, the rest of the sounds offers you a reduced choice of predetermined sounds. i am sure, that 3rd party software can do more than that but that is the standard state of all blueangels, no matter if you are running the windows mobile 2003se stock rom or a cooked rom of say, windows mobile 6.5.5 from this forum, the standard sound settings are still the same (i am not sure about mp3 ringtones in wm2003 though).

Thanks for your response Tony - it would probably been quite helpful if I had any idea what a blueangel or stock rom or cooked rom is........
I thought that I was almost there by actually being able to see the tones I'd converted and transferred....it would appear not!
What is this 3rd party software you mentioned? How do I get that and how do I download it to the phone? Can I do it via the computer and data cable or is it something I have to do via the phone itself?
When I said 'idiot terms' I really meant it!!!
ok, let's start at the very beginning. HTC, the hong kong based manufacturer of phones like ours, used to distribute their phones in europe and america not under the HTC brand name, but the network providers branded the devices with their own names. therefore, the T-Mobile MDA III or Qtek 9090 or O2 XDA III or E-Plus PDA3 or vodafone VPA III or SPV M2000 are all the same device. to bypass confusion, xda-developers name them by their HTC name. the name for this device is HTC BlueAngel.
about the roms:
your device probably looks something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_share": "Share",

}
that operating system running on the device is called windows mobile 2003 SE. since the device was shipped with that OS, that system is called the Stock ROM or Shipped ROM. Some time has passed since the release of that OS and the device and since 3rd party software suppliers don't offer any software for that old OS anymore, the xda-developers ported newer mobile operating systems to the device, like windows mobile 5, 6, 6.1, 6.5 and even newer.
most of the users here flash a cooked rom, meaning a rom containing a newer operating system with lots of customizations, which is why most of our devices look something like this:
or this:
just by the look and position of the start button, you can tell, that comparing wm2003se to the newer versions like wm6.5.5 is like comparing windows 2000 and windows 7 on the PC.
running a new rom makes the device comparable to new devices still in stores or even upcoming devices.
the next thing is the connection issue you seem to face: there are several ways of transferring files and data between the device and the pc, the most common way is using the usb cable or the original cradle, that comes with the device. on the pc, depending on your operating system, you need to install any outlook version newer than 2000 and activesync (on win xp) or windows mobile device center 6.1 (win vista and 7) which gives you several possibilities: synchronizing personal data with outlook (appointments, contacts, tasks, notes, email...) and accessing the device from the computer to transfer files. in general, for transferring large amounts of data, an sd card reader is recommended because it is much faster. you can use sd cards up to 4gb in the device, but only normal sd cards, no sdhc cards.
for many other very basic questions about windows mobile, you should have a look at your device manual, read a lot of threads here and read the wiki here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
for additional information.
if you decide to upgrade your device, please do not consult the wiki, as in some points, it is quite outdated, but refer to the tutorial linked in my signature, it gives you detailed instructions on how to upgrade the device, and many add-on applications.
about your original question: i believe the path for ringtones in wm2003 is \Windows\Ring\ or something like that, when you copy an mp3, wav or mid file there, it should be possible to choose that file both from the phone settings and the sounds & notification settings, but only for incoming calls, for sms, email, or any other sounds you can only pick from a limited list. since that is perfectly fine for me, i don't know, if any 3rd party app can change the sms ringtone, but even if there is one, it probably wouldn't work with wm2003 but only with newer roms. i guess after about a month of using the device, you will get used to it and all of its options, and then you might want to come back and upgrade the device to a newer rom.
Thanks Tony, that made much more send although only your first pic was visible and my phone is slightly different to that one.
I went into O2 today and they said to try converting the tones into .wma instead, so I've done that but still no joy.
If I have to have the predefined ones, why can I see the ones I've put in? Is it just to torment me?!
