How can I extract a software from a rom and make a cab? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I would like to extract a software (Htc media hub) and all neccesary files that are needed to create a working cab from this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=304706 Can any1 help me out with this or guide me how to do it. The cab shall be installed on a Trinity. Forgive me for asking here in the hermes forum but I ask in this forum cos it seems like here are all the people that knows this kind of stuff. Please

somone might end up correcting me on this one. You will need a ROM kitchen to do that. Unfortuantely, ROM kitchens are usually only native to a couple devices, and I am not sure if hermes tools are compatible with your trinity. what you can do is check out the tools in the hermes section of the wiki here. usually tools that are posted in the wiki have links to the original threads where they were posted. good luck!
btw that windows media today plugin is pretty sweet!

How to flash my device ???

Hi, i've downloaded everything that comes with the post "LSVW_Trinity_WM6_v2.0.1.1" but, when i open the file Hard-SPL.zip, i was surprised of seeing 4 .exe programs.
which is the good one ?! you should include a readme.txt to ease it.
i have :
EnterBootLoader.exe
rapitool.exe
ROMUpdateUtility.exe
RUUGetInfo.exe
i really don't know which is the one to use.
i tried searching a tutorial to do it but without luck .
please help me !!! give me the way to do it from A to Z ! THANKS !!!
Hi - my first post.
Its really easy when you come from a computer background, but otherwise not so easy for most.
ROMUpdateUtility.exe seems to be the right one. It has a user interface, and will do the job. It uses the others to make sure you have a trinity, and check its version etc.
For those of you who do not know which EXE to fire up to upgrade your PPC, it is this one, unless the rom pack comes with a read-me, or the poster has included a set of instructions in his/her initial post.
If you read around a few other posts on the boards, you will find that this is how it is done. Dont forget to hard-spl your device before you start! (search the forums!)

OEM tutorial according to XDA WIKI

Hi guys,
I've been trying to cook my own ROM for quite some time now. It's been going pretty good, but I want to implement some custom CABs. I've been kindly pointed towards: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=OEM Package Tutorial. This page has a part called 'Converting Cabs to Packages with Ervius Package Creator', I've tried it SOOOOO many times now, but the package KEEPS crashing constantly and whining I didn't extract a CAB. Well I did, I've followed the instructions EXACTLY! I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, Ervius' package is so buggy. Is there any other tool that allows people to create packages for use with bepes buildOS?
How do people create HEAPS of OEM packages? They're surely not using Ervius' tool, it just can't be! Can anyone tell me which tool/method is being used?
Thanks in advance!
What version of package creator are you using? Search and use newer versions, that might help.
If it doesnt, then search for faria's kitchen from wizard forum. He has a wonderful manual for how to create your own OEM packages.
Good luck!

Where to find individual cabs

Thinking about installing a naked ROM for the first time. If I do, then where can I find the individual cab files for each of the applications I want to add back in?
Thanks
What app do you need? Please list it out and then some1 can help you.
you can find it in the diamond section of the forum, it's one of the sticky's
or you can download a kitchen, a rom and a cab compiler so you can extract them from a rom and then put it in a cab
Most chef's that host a LITE ROM also have a cab repository.
Also the search button does wonders - The google search is quite powerful for finding cabs. Just search opera 15613 .cab in google and you'll get a .cab for Opera 15613. Search for anything and .cab.
Everybody says search...
If you know, you should help.

auto configuration tool diy

Well, I've seen many chefs who use this tool to install various programs. How can I utilize this tool? I have searched all over to no avail
I'm assuming you mean the User Configuration (UC) feature. If not, then I apologise. I did a search and found an old thread explaining it here.

What i'm looking for is how to use the customization tool that comes up after flashing a rom. In several roms after the first boot it will say Wait a few minutes for customization to complete or something like that. I'm looking for a tut explaining how to use this tool to cook certain programs into my rom without converting them into ext, Thanks for your help though Stevie.
ok, I thought that was it, UC can be used to run cabs and stuff. But sorry for my misunderstanding, hope you find it soon !

I'm not sure about your kitchen, but when I used the JoshKoss/TwoPumpChump Kaiser kitchen to cook ROMs, you would place all the applications in a special folder and create a text file called config.txt in that special folder pointing to the location of all your .cabs. You would then cook the ROM, and all the .cabs in that folder would end up in \Windows on the device after a flash. On first boot, it would install all of the .cabs you'd referenced in that file.
I would check in your kitchen's thread, as there will probably be questions from people like you. Try searching for config_operator.txt, config_PT.txt, or config_AP.txt in that kitchen's thread. Alternatively, you could very politely PM a ROM cooking veteran like NRGZ28 or joshkoss (or another chef) and ask how to do this. Sorry I couldn't be more specific to your, but hopefully that'll point you in the right direction.
