Text Messages in Windows Mobile 6 - P3600 ROM Development

Hi guys,
I have a question about the text messages (SMS). When you receive an SMS, it will show you the date when the SMS was received but it DOES NOT show you what time the SMS was received. Is there ANY way to turn this on?
So besides the date, I also want to know on what time I receive my SMS messages.

It shows me the date AND the time on mine, I don't know why it doesn't on your device.

Where does it show the time then? All I see is:
- Name
- Text itself
- Date
- Size of message in Kb
Perhaps my version on WM6 is a bit messed up. You prolly have to Official WM6?

On the list view the time is not displayed, but when you open the individual messages it is.
(Official WM6 ROM)

noticed the side bar? it has extra space going up, when you push the dpad upward it shows the details. maybe they thought it would save some space, because no everybody wants to see the full detail. But I agree with you, its nice to see the date and time, so just scroll upward and you'll see it.

Hi there,i'm looking for a solution about an sms bug i have noticed on my P3600(udk 3.0 ITA WM6 FE)
When i receive an sms and i go to my sms list i see that the system orders them according the time/date of the sender and not the time/date of my p3600.
That means that if i receive an sms now from my girlfriend who lives in Australia(8hours time difference from Italy where i live)and then i receive other sms from my contacts from Italy, the list shows first the "australian" sms and then the "italian" ones!
Is there any solution to fix this bug or it's just that my P3600 gives priority to my girlfriend's sms???

Another issue: does somebody knows who to see the photo of the contact when you receive a sms?
In palm os there is a new app called picturesms but I don't know an app with this functionality for wm.

If the person who sends you a sms is in your contact list and if you have assigned a photo to that contact, when you open that sms, you should see his photo. It works automatically on my device, no more app needed.

When your using outlook, you assign pictures for every contact, when you sync it to your pocketpc it automatically shows the pictures, no extra software needed, saves a lot of space. of course you need to open the sms in order for you to see the picture, same goes with email etc.
but if you really want a 3rd party software try googling photo contacts.

SMS is received by recipients mutiple times

Hi all,
Since I upgraded my T-Mobile ppc to 4.01.16 ENG Rom and 6.25.02 Radio, I have had bad experience on SMS sending. The sms I send is received by the recipients twice or trice and I am sure that I am charged with the extra sms. I have been thinking that my new radio version is not compatible to where I am (I am currently in Asia-Pacific/Philipines which uses GSM900/1800 but I am going to and from the US and Phil so I also need my device to be compatible with US network). I have been researching this forum and found out that radio downgrade is not possible and very dangerous for my device.
But now, I think I have found the real culprit. I always send messages through the 'mail' software (today panel and tap on 'no unread messages' part), of course through SMS. When I send the SMS and close the 'mail' software before before the message is sent (that is before the message sent icon on top appears), SMS is sent mutiple times. But when I wait the message sent icon to appear before I close the 'mail' software, the SMS is only sent once. I am very sure of this for I have observed this for quite some time already.
Is there an app or something to correct this? I need help for I am charged at least twice or trice for the SMS I send. Thanks a lot.
Try this method: Open Contacts, select the name and tap & hold on the name and select "Send SMS". Sometimes the s/w doesn't get the aknowledgement from the GSM network so it attempts to send it again.
Thanks Biso. Can you recommend a better software other than the 'mail' default program? Or can I make the mail program 'unclosable' so that it will on be minimized. I'm using SPB Pocket Plus so the 'x' button is closing the apps. I just want hte mail program to be also minimized ang the rest are closed. Thanks
Hi,
I don't prefer any other mail program than the standard one especially if you are connected to MS Exchange server. It's fully integrated with it, but for POP3 mail I heard that nPOPw is very good http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=839
As for minimizing the mail s/w, even tho I don't see any difference between closing and minimizing (except for on line s/w like MSN messenger), but with each task manager (I use Magic Button) you should find an option to assign the current window to "Keep Alive" flag. Then the x button will only minimize it (switch to the next window or Today if all off).
Thanks Biso. Just found out that SPB Pocket Plus has a 'minimize by gesture' feature which you can add to list the program you just want to minimize. And it works, when I just minimize the 'mail' software the sms I send is only sent once (recipient only receive it once). Thanks a lot. Guess this is a bug on T-Mobile WM2003 Rom?

Artemis Toch Features changes needed

Hi,
I don't like the treaded sms and also the fact that If I have a message from an unknown number, the same number is listed as a part of the Pocket CM contact list. Is there a workaround to this problems.
I don't want threaded messages and listing of messages phone number in my contact list.
Help
For disabling sms Threading see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372263
The second part i don't understand sorry.
Cheers
...or settings in Advance Tool Settings
Let me explain the second problem.
I received a message (maybe promotional message) from an unknown sender (someone who is not part of my contact list). Once I have received this message and its part of my message inbox. Now this number from where I have received the message is listed in my contact list with a number of messages received in the contact list. This is one feature that i don't want.
Here something
Thing ab this *.cabs
Thanks to Meshle! Be strong Brother!
Thanks a lot - That will be really helpfull.
I've installed the lite version (without cube) and just wondering if I can change the keyboard when texting, I find the individual keys a bit too small, wonder if a different style keyboard is out there?. Also when writing out the 1st line of the text and upon reaching the end of the screen it does not scroll to the 2nd line but continues across with loss of text already typed to the left...any ideas how it can be resolved?
Thanks

Select from a list of recent SMS recipients when sending a text?

Hi
I have a Touch Diamond. I was wondering if anyone can help me. Does anyone know of an inbox extender (or feel like writing one) that will enable me to:
Open a new(blank) SMS message, write it, and when I press "send" (or even "to") it will show me a list of , say, the last 10 people I sent SMS messages to? I have another app which I bought to allow me to group message (PowerSMS) which has a feature which calls up (lightning fast) your SMS history on the stats page, so I assume it is at least possbile to call up SMS history quickly without having a performance impact.
My old Nokia used to have this, and it's dead handy. Otherwise I find myself having to scroll through the 20+ Pauls or Andy's in my contacts list to find the particular Paul or Andy that I always text.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks
Stoatie
hmmm ... have I posted this in the wrong forum section??

Text Messaging Problems

Anyone else have problems with text messaging?
Scenario: I receive a text message, the notification pops up on screen. I have my phone handy, so i hit the reply button.
The phone takes me to Windows Mobile text messaging. I send my text message reply. If the same person texts me back, it is not registered as being read.
So i exit the screen back to the TouchFlo 3d menu. I have a new text message (that i have already seen and read)
So i go to the windows mobile text system to read it...again.
NOW, lets say i have a full conversation with someone. 30 messages later, I still have 30 unread messages, every time i open the windows mobile text messanger, it removes ONE new message, not all.
So, i never get to use the TouchFlo 3d messenger, which is half decent, and the WM6.1 text messenger is stupid.
Does anyone know of a setting, or a third party text program that will over ride this crap, or am i just hoping this all works out.
Am i really the only one who has text messaging difficulties?

this is a known issue my friend...
download SafeInBoxExtender... search the main forum...
it will let you "mark all messages as read" ..
it will cure your problem right up..
*nods* i have it already, it doesnt exactly "cure" the problem, UGH!
We shouldnt have to come up with stupid fixes for stuff microsoft should already have fixed.
Is 6.5 slated to fix some of this garbage?
I have another problem
i cant use the TF messaging
allot of times it tells me message not sent
and if not there is no delivery report
i found out the there is a TF delivery report i must check 1st
but its not fixed !!!
when i go out of the message it becoms unchecked !!
So at the end i used the Win messaging with no problems there
but i wish i can just click the incoming message and reply right away
hmm how odd, i don't have either of those issues.
Which version of the TP2 are you guys using?

without having to use the Win messaging mode ?
why me then?
hope any one can help me
my Rom version is 1.19.415.1
dated 06/12/09
im using the sprint TP2
Another partial fix here...Partial because Ive only using the new dll for a bout a week(not sure of long temr effects) & I cant make a successful backup using sprite backup etc without adding the dll files to the exclude list of files to backup.
im not quite sure i understand what you just said.

Forward SMS to another mobile

Hi, my company has just changed our phones from G1's to Omnia 7's. I had a handy app on the G1 that I used to forward my SMS's to my personal phone (save carrying both around with me out of office hours). Is there anything available to do this on the Windows mobile 7 omnia at all ? Many thanks
I know that with NoDo you can press and hold on the text you got and it will give you an option to forward it. I don't remember that being there in 7004.
Sent from my Samsung Focus using Board Express

It was there before NoDo... I know cause I dont have NoDo yet and the forward option is indeed there.
Problem is that the OP probably wants an automated process, instead of having to press all SMS's, and for that I don't think there is an application yet.
Hi guys, many thanks for your replies, as Avandor has suggested, I really need this to be an automated process as the phone will probably be at home, so I need it to push it automatically, if possble.
It's been nearly a year now... has any SMS auto-forwarding app popped up yet?
I'm contemplating getting a WP7 phone but need this feature.
Thanks

Mmm, this is all I find:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/8427cf9a-070a-4453-8024-56d21d81933e
It just looks like an app that sends pre-written SMSes to specific numbers.
I'm looking for something like this:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.intensoft.smstransfer
It's a security issue / consider Google voice instead

This is not possible in WIndows Phone 7.
Under Windows Mobile 6.5 you could write handlers to intercept text messages as they arrive and do various things, such as send it to an email address using an email account.
But, it would not immiately send. It would go to your outbox and only actually send when you synced.
It's kind of a security issue to allow any application to directly send SMS or make calls without any confirmation. I say kind of because any dev could have called a webservice or done an HTTP post to a site instead. But, imagine a malicious devloper making an app that text messages all of your contacts or random people without your knowledge or confirmation with each send. If they allowed the app you want, they would not be able to stop the malicious app.
You may want to consider Google Voice, since users can SMS the google voice number and it will forward to the numbers or email addresses that you wnat to recieve it on. Then you can reply from any device running a Google Voice app.
