Anybody having trouble with Windows live? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

hi
iam having trouble with windows live oin Official HTC rom, it just refuses to download mail, it gets stuck on syncronizing inbox.
any idea guys?

I have similar issue since yesterday. Also, when I try to search for something - it does not bring the results. Just opens another search window.

I am having the same problems.
Things were fine when I was using an old instalation of custels WM6...
Then today I decided to reflash the device to the new Official HTC WM6 rom and I could not get Windows live to sync with the inbox for email...
I then reflashed to the TNT2.0 rom and the same thing...
Real weird.. anyone have any ideas?
JB

I have this problem too. I had a notification from Live Messenger that i had mail, but that opened up Internet Explorer which was the only method I have found that allows me to access my hotmail account.

I had a similar problem before. I wrote to MS and got the following reply.
Solution B below worked for me.

I had very similar problem, when I used rom Schaps_WM6Pro_WWE_3.54b-0804_Full. Problem was in internet settings (Ver. 3.60 - fixed).
I solved this problem install internet settings form cab: T-Mobile_UK_Settings_V1-1.1.CAB
Another problem, Hermes refuses operator settings. Whes T-Mobile tried to send me.

Similar Issue with Live Mail
I am also having an issue using Windows Live Mail on Sleuth's latest ROM. Over the last few days, some of my email messages are coming through blank. The message size is listed as 0/kb, but there is no option to download more of the message. When I check my email via PIE or on my laptop the entire message is there as normal.
Funny thing is this has only started over the past couple of days. It worked fine for weeks before, and now it seems that this issue is becoming more frequent (I got 8 blank messages today!)
I even tried changing to a different Live account and then back to mine. It fixed the blank messages in my inbox, but the second email I received was blank again!
Has anyone else experienced blank emails coming through from their hotmail email account?

Microsoft is currently extending from 2G to 5Gb live acount. Could be linked ?

I have a pocket pc made by HTC, model is Tytn. I am a Cingular subscriber in LA.
I have been using my PPC with windows mobile live 6 to access my hotmail account for the last year with no problem.
Just yesterday I installed an OFFICIAL WINDOWS MOBILE 6 rom that is the latest update from HTC for my phone. After instalation I could no longer sync Mobile live with my hotmail inbox as before. However, I can connect to my Live messenger from the same phone. When I try to sync my mobile live client with my hotmail inbox, I get an error message thats states, "email server did not respond, sync has failed". I then tried to connect with my wifes hotmail live account and had no problems at all. ThenI tried reconecting with my hotmail info and I got the same error message and the sync attempt with my hotmail inbox failed again.
This doews not make sense. I can sync with my wifes account, but cannot sync with my hotmail account. Why can I not sync to my hotmail inbox with mobile live, but I can sync to Mobile live messenger? Why does my hotmail live account work on the PC, but not on my phone? Why did it work the other day seamlessly, but not now after upgrading to a newer Official Windows Rom. Do you guys need to reset my hotmail account? I have also reinstalled the old rom and I still have the same problems.
Please solve my issue.. I depend on my mobile email retrieval from my phone for my job and at this point I am losing money and clients since I cannot use my email on my phone.

Lets back up here. This same device was working fine with my current hotmail account just a few days ago. All I did is reflash to a new Official, HTC, Microsoft windows mobile 6. I also flashed back to the version that worked and it still is not working... Maybe my account info is corrupt living on your particular server. How about just resetting my account, I bet it would start working again.
How about your customer service department live up to the enormous reputation that is Microsoft, and give me a call to help me work out this problem.
My number is.... XXX-XXX-XXXX

Ok... I am very frustrated that nothing has solved my issues with MY ACCOUNT.
Here are the answers to your questions. I'm hoping you can solve my issue.
- Did changing your display picture work?
No. I even changed it to a blank picture as well as a default pic.
- Were you able to sign in to the Windows Live application using a different email address? If yes, what email address did you use?
Yes I was. Like I said in my initial email, I can sign in and syncronize to my wifes hotmail account inbox no problem.
- Were you able to successfully clear cache and history of visited websites on your device?
Yes I was succesful doing that.
- Were you able to sign in using the WAP version of Windows Live Mobile?
Yes I was.
- What is the exact error message you are getting?
"Syncronization failed. Unable to syncronize inbox. Server did not respond."
- What specific HTC device are you using?
HTC Tytn. Same device as the cingular 8525. I have now tried 3 different roms.. 2 of which used to work with the windows live client before. Current rom is the latest from the HTC website.

I had a problem with live when I first went to WM6, a while ago now, that sounds similar to the problems being experienced here. My solution was to log into hotmail / live on a PC and update my passport account. I attributed this to maybe an old account.

Well... I gotta hand it to ya... I went into my setting page for my live account and changed my id and password for my live account and that fixed it... I find it pretty interesting that Microsoft had no idea, or they just didn't Giva F-ck.
Thanks...
JB

Hi.. I found this morning that i dont have anymore contacts on my msn list?!?! Read on some forums this can be cause by msn servers going down or hacking!! Anyone else having this problem today?

I had the same issue... It is known to M$. The solution I found was reinstalling WLM Live. If you do, make sure you uninstall it first thru active sync.

Unfortunatly that doesn't work for me, have tried 4 different versions and everytime the same problem.
If I Sign in with an other account the e-mail syncs correctly!
On my old Wizard it worked always, so it's very strange.

Exactly the same happened to me yesterday.

Try going to your windows live account from your computer. Then change your password and add or change your windows live ID. This worked for me and I had the same problems.

Timeout-Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device

I have a couple of POP3 accounts on my O2 XDAIIs. I used to be able to download my email from ISP without problems.
Lately, when there is any email waiting, it will connect and try to download and pop up the following message "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."
The other POP3 accounts work fine, even with the same ISP, and this POP3 account used to work when I first got the unit. The POP3 account in question works fine from my Treo using the same SIM card (I have Cingular).
I searched all over the web and forums, I see many have the problem and some have not been able to resolve it. I tried:
1) Soft and Hard Reset
2) Deleting and reentering the account
3) Used the Sprite Mail cleanup utility (which basically cleans all emails and attachments)
4) Tried a registry key that had worked for some: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox, create new DWORD ForceOffSSL and give it a value of 1.
5) Checked with my ISP – they could not see any problem with the account and works with anything else but my O2 XDA IIs.
6) I tried the Flemail 2006 program (formerly WebIS) and it worled for email. But the program is so buggy and slow that I had to delete it. This tells me the problem is with the native pocket outlook.
If there is NO email, it will connect, check and disconnect with no error.
There is a timeout somewhere. The other accounts can connect and download without problems.
Has anybody else had this problem and does anybody have any suggestions?
No one else has had this problem? Any suggestions?
I know it is device specific as it works on the same GSM account on a Treo.
PPC6700 with same problem
I just purchased the PPC 6700 and I love the device itself, but I have had many problems with it after owning it for only 4 days.
1. Sprint failed to let me know that my phone had to be updated. Thanks! I only found out about this update after 1 hour of phone tech support trying to find out why my phone randomly went into flight mode. What a pain in the ***.
2. I have my own servers and cannot download my mail from them or my home isp. Sprint by the way repeatedly told me this must be an issue with you server. I told him after being on the phone for 3 hours (I could tell he wasn't happy) "You must be right! Microsoft has always developed software much more then anything ever put out in the Unix world".
So the only help I guess I can offer to you is "Yes, I have the same problem with the native outlook that comes with WM5.0

Whenever I see this (and I see it a alot) on mt XDA IIs, I just select Accounts|Clear <account>
If it doesnt work immediately then I restart the Outlook Inbox app and/or disconnect/reconnect.
Been through searching registry/deleting this & that database file / re/installing accounts. Havent had to do that for ages.
I access 5-6 pop accounts from various servers, several are my wife's. My bet is that it has something to do with whether the current status of the emails downloaded in your device matches the server etc - due to the function that you can delete the emails from the server by downloading, deleting and then deleting from the 'deleted items' folder and re-sycning
HTH
ME TOO! Any resolution??
I am having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM with my new 6700...did you ever find a resolution?
THanks,
I am having the same problem on a Hermes / TyTN.
My first TyTN was fine. I have 3 email accounts. 1 uses SSL and the other 2 don't. There were no problems using either account.
Having replaced my 1st TyTN with a new one (due to poor wifi on first device) I now get the message 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again'.
The only solution is to use the ForceOffSSL setting for my 2 none-SSL POP3 accounts. Then I have to reboot the TyTN without the ForceOffSSL settings to use my SSL POP3 account.
Continually changing the ForceOffSSL setting and rebooting is annoying, so for the time being I'm using nPOP email client for my non-SSL accounts.
getting an email timed out on cingular 8525
I am getting the same message 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again'. I am having the same problem intermittently with Htc Tytn with a pop account yahoo. I seem to connect without a problem on the internet but i do get this error intermittently. any solution?
Same here ... cannot send mail via OptOnline Account
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK...I got a resolution to this last night on the Cingular forum.
Quick answer is that OOL's SMTP Server is locked down. I needed to change the outgoing server to Cingular's (CWMX.com).
Thanks to anyone who took the time to click-in on this thread.
Happy New Year, all!

===================
Hi all, OK, this marks my first post on this board. I've been a lurker for a few months, and have settled into a Cingular 8525 as my first Pocket PC Phone.
I noticed a few days ago that I could not send mail via my OptOnline Account, unless I was using WiFi or the 8525 was tethered to my home PC via ActiveSync. I was thnking all along that it was probably due to some piece of third party software that I installed over the past few weeks (a hearty thanks to all on these forums who develop and/or market their wonderful wares, btw).
But today, for a lack of anything else to do, I hard reset and tried simply setting up that one account to try my machine out in its pure form. Lo and behold, I still get the same error, 'Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.'
As a matter of fact, it seems this message itself is in error, since it happens when I try to SEND a message, not when I try to receive them. I have even received emails in this account at the same time this error message appears, but at any rate, messages in my outbox do not get sent.
As far as I can tell, all the settings are correct. I have played with them, and tried all the permutations I can think of, but this baby will not send mail via this account. My XpressMail and Hotmail accounts work fine, both sending and receiving, and I can browse the web fine via My ISP or WiFi.
I have spent a lot of time searching the web for an answer to this problem, but it seems it's been quite prevalent with WM5.0 devices for well over a year, and still does not have an answer.
So ... my first post ... which should have been a thank you all, and Happy New Year, has turned into a request for the talents of you folk who know so much more than I regarding these devices.
Can anyone please lend a hand? Also ... is it "legal" to cross-post this message onto other forums on this board?
Thanks so much to anyone who can provide a solution.
-Paul Slabowski (a.k.a. pvs)
I got it working
Like others in this thread I was getting the "unable to download messages to device" error when sending. My solution is:
Try leaving the 'domain' field blank.
It's on the Server Information page, and also on the Outgoing Settings if you 'Use separate settings' for your outgoing server.
Hope this helps you.
Rich
Domian Blank
My Domain is blank and frankly im just getting very agrivated by this. Does anybody eles have other advice to give towards this "cannot download message"?
I've got WM6, I've tried clearing and deleting the account, soft resetting the phone, making sure the domain field is empty, etc. It still gives this error for my POP account while my IMAP account is fine. Anyone find a solution?
Yes, deleting the domain really works in some cases (f.e. Gmail), but the same error occurs in my other account although I delete the domain. And funny thing is that it occurs only when there are some emails in outbox, receiving emails seems to work normnally :S
I'm still encountering this problem after trying everything on this post...
any other ideas?
Just had the same problem tonight. My mail server recently changed IP addresses, so I suspect DNS issues were the cause of my problem. I tried using the new IP address in place of the host name, but that didn't work for me. The account settings didn't seem fixable. Deleting the email account entirely and adding it back did the trick.

connect to my websites email?

does anyone know how to configure windows mobile 6.0-6.1 to connect with my websites email?i have spent hours trying to find out. other than an exchange server is there a way?
You need to tell us what type of email, it is most likely a POP account, so grab the details from your providers and just add them in one at a time in the accounts panel on your device.
i am new to the 'website' stuff, so i am not sure. I just started it a couple weeks ago. in my outlook on my PC, under accounts, it says MAPI. Outlook on PC connected perfectly, but when i use outlook on hermes, it says i need to put in settings manually.
Okay what you need are basically the following details:
username
password
pop server name
smtp server name
The above details you need to setup a basic mail account however look at your PC outlook account connection and copy those exactly.

Hi James,
Thank you for contacting us at Microsoft Office Live Support regarding your Microsoft Office Live account.
My name is M. Srinivas and I have created the Service Request # 105892****, for this case.
I understand that you want to configure your Microsoft Office Live account on your Windows Mobile version 6, to send and receive emails and you need to incoming and outgoing server information. I comprehend your concern and realize how this is important for you.
I regret update you that with the current version of Microsoft Office Live we do not support synchronization of Microsoft Office Live account on Windows Mobile of any version. This concern is with our Product Development Team and they are working diligently on this.
Alternatively, you cannot synchronize your Microsoft Office Live account with the Windows Mobile, however, you may sign-in to your account and view your emails. Still, there is a condition, that the internet speed and the Windows Mobile settings should match the system requirements of Microsoft Office Live.

lol you dont need to pester M$ about this it sounds like they didnt understand the issue anyway.
First thing to do is to take a look at the settings under your account in outlook (on your PC).
As the post said above you need the username, password and the incoming/outgoing server addresses.
on your device go into messaging>menu>options>New Account....
fill in the details it requests and also how often you wish it to check for new mail. Its a pretty simple process dude
the problem is i dont know incoming/outgoing server. IT IS NOT IN MY SETTINGS. If i double click my account settings, it gives me the 'outlook connector'. the ONLY info under settings for this account is under 'type' it says 'MAPI'. there are NO other settings, no way to see incoming outgoing server addresses. This is a Microsoft hosted website, hence their reference of my "Microsoft Office Live account". so it connects with outlook connector. WHICH i cannot get for WM6. please if YOU don't understand the problem don't flame for me being ignorant.
hahahha......hahaha, way too funny.
anyway, i've never heard of this office live mail thingy, so i did a little looking around about it on google, interesting stuff. all i can suggest is to use windows live and try and see if you can sign in and sync ur email with that, cause i suspect that this office live thingy has to be somehow related to windows live.
Mate people are trying to help you not flame you. I can see this is frustrating you so what you need to do is get the details from your provider. Who are they? If you put your providers name down somebody might be up to the challenge to working this out for you OR maybe even have the same provider thus can assist you.
You just need to gather some information then people can make a better and informed decision about what you should do.
MICROSOFT is my PROVIDER......
hence the microsoft office live.....
I believe I have stated this more than once.
and I can log into my mail server using the internet, but I need it to update automatically. And I cant do that with outlook in WM6. It is a situation that would take someone 'in the know', maybe someone who has had this exact problem, and figured a way around it. If someone is smart enough to figure it out, that would be swell too. But most likely it will need to be someone who has faced this problem on their website, and figured a way around it.
To learn more about my 'provider' plz see http://www.officelive.com/
Let's get something clear, you have Microsoft Live account (Hotmail), and you want to make it download emails automatically? If that is the case go back to your Outlook and then go to setting to set the "Sync Option" it is on manual so set it to something you want.

I have a live Office Basics account with a web page and 3 e-mail adddresses and have not been able to get my phone's Live messenger to receive or send my e-mails. When Live Office first came out, You were able too send and recieve e-mails with your phone, but they changed servers and is a NoGo as of right now. I am 99% sure with Windows Mobile 7, they will integrate it.

hotmail account problems [SOLVED]

Hi, my hotmail account got hacked recently and I have had to change all my details, however after trying to change them on my phone the account disapeared. I tried to add it again but now when I put the username and pass it and click next it logs onto windows live web mail, i dont want to have to faff about using webmail, i want to collect via outlook mobile. Can anyone direct me to a post where there is a fix for this?

apologies, please can we stick to the thread, please log this issue on a seperate thread as it isnt relevant to this issue.
thanks
try this, delete your hotmail account from your htc and then re add it. make sure you use these settings when prompted:
POP server: pop3.live.com
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example [email protected]
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Authentication required? Yes
might fix it...
not even there
There is no hot mail account there, it disapeared, Here is exectly what happens:
1. Click new account
2. insert username [email protected]
3. insert passwords
4. click next
usually here it downloads the setting for the account and the it asks if you want to add live account shortcuts to today screen, then downloads folders and then the account shows up in your list of accounts.
What happens instead is it opens opera and tries to log into what looks to be a live webpage, however the login details are simply a jpeg, it is really odd like some virus or something. I had this working before ok, i am not sure what has changed.
are you using windows mobile 6.5?
because if you are, in my experiences, the mail setup tool forces you to go to a website to check your mail. I havent used a 6.5 ROM that lets you use the inbuilt app.

in gmail it's all working perfect.
good to know
Hi, its good to know I am not the only one out there with this problem, i thought i was going mad, I amusing the latest stock romm with spb mobile shell 3, dont think that has anything to do with it though as I had it setup ok at one point. My NTL (virgin) pop works ok.
the reason?
This might be happening as winmo will only let you setup one hotmail account, someone on my phone the old account might be there even though it is not showing up as an account, therefore when you go thorugh the wizard it automatically forwards you to live webmail, this would make sense, does anyone know how to find out in the registry what acounts are setup?
go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476603&highlight=hotmail
i had this problem before as well but just searching on the various forums you can pretty much find the answer for anything.
all you need to do is create a new email account (without using the automatic settings for hotmail) type in the pop3 settings and your done.
Updated
I had a similar problem when I first set-up the phone. I originally downloaded a fixed version from this site. More recently I downloaded the update available from the MS website.
Always downloads to the phone now.
Running version 10.6.0046.0800
good man
Good job that man, that worked, you simply put in a rubbish user and pass and click next, unclick automatically look for setting from the internet and then it allows you to set it up manually.
thanks for that.

Email Problem

Hello.
I'm having problems to configure my hotmail account after flashing with official wm6.5 (Portuguese version). Every time I try to create my hotmail account, after entering my username and pass, I press next and then the opera browser opens in my email account, but in the phone nothing at all.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
You should set up via Windows Live. Don't do it via the messaging app or the HTC email wizard. If you're missing Windows Live, you can get it in the Marketplace.

Windows Live is an application. When you first start it up, you will be guided through a brief setup process where you enter in your details. At one point, you can select whether you want to sync your email.
If you don’t have the app or it doesn’t ask you about your email, grab the latest Windows Live app from Marketplace.
An alternative is to configure your email account setup manually using Hotmail's POP3 access server settings:

[FIX] Exchange Active Sync with Hotmail (post Hotmail Server Upgrade-Jun 2012))

MODS: This is my first post on "how to fix something". If I've done anything wrong, please correct me (and the post).
I (and a lot of other people) started having problems with Exchange ActiveSync with Hotmail around the mid-to-end of Jun 2012.
The symptoms on HTC Sense 4.0 phones include the error message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" when you try to sync with your Hotmail account.
On searching for a solution, I've found this is a known problem affecting multiple OS platforms (AOSP Devices, iPhones, BB’s, etc). Microsoft is updating their Hotmail servers with a newer version of the protocol, and this is breaking ActiveSync with Hotmail on many devices.
At some point in the future, many people expect that HTC will need to update their client software to support this new protocol. Until they do, I think that I’ve discovered a solution that may fix problems people have been having with syncing with their Hotmail accounts (and getting the "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" errors.).
I make no promises that this will fix your problem (it worked for me). I only have one phone (to test with) and no friends (who could help with testing). The solution I’m recommending will cost you $3.00 so if you don’t want to initially spend the money on an application, then I’d recommend waiting for a few other users (who will hopefully report back) on whether or not this fixed they EAS issue with Hotmail.
I’ve applied this change and I’ve been able to successfully (manually) sync with my Hotmail Account successfully for the past 24 hours. I have not tested this with Contacts, Calendars, Tasks or with Push Mail (if this method allows for the successful sync of any/all those fields, please report back). I’ve been successfully syncing over WiFi and via my cellular connection.
Assumptions:
1) OS is ICS and you’re using the HTC Mail.apk (default HTC Mail Application) to sync with Hotmail.
2) Your phone is rooted.
3) You have SuperSU intstalled from Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
4) You’re willing to spend $3.00 to buy SQLite Editor. (If someone know of a free version, please let me know and I’ll update the post).
Steps:
1) Create your EAS Hotmail Account just like you normally would: Settings->Accounts & Sync->Add->Exchange ActiveSync
2) Once you’ve completed your Account configuration, go to the Play Store and buy (sorry) SQLite Editor: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=sqlite+editor . It’ll cost you 3 bucks and it’s a great program (I’m not associated with the program at all (no conflicting interest)).
3) Launch SQLite Editor (once installed). It will ask for SU permissions the first time you launch it: Please allow SU access.
4) After a few minutes of scrubbing your phone’s databases, you’ll see a list. Scroll down to the one titled “Mail” (in smaller print right below the title “Mail”, you should see “com.htc.android.mail”). Tap on “Mail”->”mail.db”->”accounts”.
5) After clicking on “accounts, you should see a screen with all of your email accounts listed (if you have more than one). Tap AND HOLD on your Hotmail Account. From the pop-up menu, click on “Edit Record”.
6) Scroll down to you find the Field titled “_easSvrProtocol”. You should see a value in the field (mine had a 14 in the field). Change the value to 2.5 and click on “Save”.
7) Reboot your phone
8) Trying syncing your Hotmail account. It should now sync without the annoying message “Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly"
Please provide feedback.
If anyone is wondering: I don't have a HTC One X (rather I have the Sprint EVO 4g LTE). It's S-Off/Rooted and I'm using a custom ROM (see signature).

The first option to try is to change the Exchange Active server name, this is something that seems to work on HTC devices. It worked in my case. One of the problems is the new protocols/servers that Microsoft are using needs a redirect to what seems to be a particular data centre your account is held at, this redirect isn't understand by a lot of devices. So try this first, you will need to remove the Active Exchange account first which will clear contacts etc until you resyns.
1) Log into Hotmail via the internet, and look at the Url you are redirect to, for example: https://snt108.mail.live.com/default.aspx
2) Take the first three letters after the //, in this example snt. The three letters appear to identify the data centre holding your account.
3) Re-add your Exchange account, select manual setup, enter your details, and for the domain name use those first 3 letters then add -m.hotmail.com, in this example the server becomes snt-m.hotmail.com
4) For your username, use your email address, this might be populated already with just the first part of your email address, but it is important to then add the rest, so essentially your email is appearing twice in the settings.
Then complete the set-up and try and sync.
Hope that helps. If not, it is worth trying the other suggestion.

I tried "snt-m.hotmail.com" but the sync never completes.
For the moment, I use the "Hotmail" app from the store. I hope it will be fixed in next rom.

Phil,
I've tried that (mine started with "bay" so I tried changing my server to bay-m.hotmail.com) but I couldn't get it to work. I know some people have had sucess but others didn't (I was one of those who still couldn't sync). By changing the “_easSvrProtocol” from 14 to 2.5 was the only way I could get it to work. Currently I'm sync'ing using the default server (m.hotmail.com) and everything is working as designed.

I think the problem arises when they stop supporting these older protocols, hopefully by then HTC or Microsoft will have worked out the problems, until then we have to find our own solutions, nice one Microsoft.

Just confirming the solution in post #1 worked for me.
Big thanks here but curious to know how you would figure this out? What changed when the figure was altered from 14 to 2.5 as it was in my case also?
Funny thing i had similar problems with a normal exchange account, even after installing stock RUU.

Maybe a dev can see if a mod can be made for solving this problem?

After reading about this on multiple threads (both within XDA and outside), I kept seeing reports from various posters that said "If you force the 2.5 Protocal, EAS works on Hotmail". So I started digging around and came up the the solution above.
Risingson: May I ask what you are sync'ing? (i.e. Contacts, Calendar, Email?) I only sync email so I'm curious if this fix allows for full EAS capability with Hotmail. I would think it would, but I'd like confirmation.
Justin
Funnily enough, the Hotmail app works fine for syncing contacts, emails and calenders.

Just email. Contacts and calendar are linked to Gmail which I am slowly making the switch to.
Push email works perfectly for hotmail now. It's a .co.uk account FWIW.

For what it's worth, you don't need the $3 app. You can use something like SQLite Database Browser on your computer instead.

Can you mount the /data partition without root? The database file (mail.db) is in /data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases. If you can push/pull to/from there, it should work. I don't have much experience with unrooted devices though.

You can always try it and see if it works.
This is interesting, so this would mean that recently Microsoft has upgraded their Exchange server from Exchange 2003 sp2 to Exchange 2010. They have always run a very old version of Exchange which is why the utilized Activesync version was 2.5. So if the fix is to change it from Activesync 14.0 to 2.5 that means some software upgrade happened recently on Microsoft's side which is what is causing this issue.
It's working!
FYI: My phone isn't rooted but is unlocked with custom recovery
So the adb commands are working fine! :good:
I have a folder with fastboot stuff : "D:\fastboot"
I have created a hotmail account on my phone and the fist sync doesn't work.
My phone is connected with debugging enabled and I run these commands
adb pull /data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases/mail.db

I now have the "mail.db" file on my fastboot folder.
I downloaded SQLite Database Browser as suggested before. With the tool, I open the data of the table "account". I search my hotmail account and updated the "easSvrProtocol" to "2.5". Do not forget to save!

I launched the push command
adb push mail.db /data/data/com.htc.android.mail/databases/
