I experienced this problem with another PDA. This may happen after restoring a backup, if you already set an alarm.
This also happens if for some reason user notifications are not set correctly. This can be caused by conflicting software.
You can try to use some kind of program to manage user notifications to remove them. Pocket Mechanic, if memory assist me, will allow you to take a look at user notifications but I don't think it can also delete them.
I pinpointed the problem (or, at least, the problem I think is). Now, to someone else suggesting you a program to perform the task.
If no-one find a solution within the next month, contact me.

Ok... looks like I've been unlucky. After writing my answer to this topic, I experienced the same problem on my Artemis.
I don't know if there is a program to solve this problem, so I decided to write one.
It will allow you to add, edit and remove "user notifications".
"User notifications" are the "things" that allow Windows Mobile devices to run program when a specified event occurr or at a specified time.
The clock notifications have clock.exe in the command-line (Application).
Should you need, you'll find it at this URL:
http://www.swupdate.net/unedit/unedit.htm
I readied this program in something like 8/10 hours, so it may be full of bugs. I decline every responsibility for its use and/or misuse... but write me here if you find a bug. I'll try to correct it.

WM6 goes back to Today's screen when device turns off

Not sure if this is a design function but everytime I turn the device off it returns to Today's screen.
Actually even when I toggle to screen in WMP and turn the screen back on the PPC throws me back to Today.
I initially thought it was a problem with my ROM (LSG then Custel 1.3) but after flashing to VP3G 3.0 on my 8525 (I have both an 8525 and TyTN) and without anything else installed it does that.
Any ideas if this can be changed? I'd like to open app to stay visible.
Thanks in advance for the help.
I really don't have this problem on my ROM, see signature. I have especially tested it for you to be sure.....
Perhaps flashing 1 device to a different ROM. Can you see it yourself.
that's what i figured so I had my 8525 that was running WM5.
I HardSPL, SuperCID it then flashed it with VP3G.
There is nothing else on the phone but my exchange and pop account setup, owner info and basic stuff like this.
I also have the clock shown on every apps and the extended rom unlock/mounted (though it does it with or w/o).
My TyTN is running Custel 1.3.
I just can't think what could be causing the device to always minimize open apps when the phone is turned off (standby).
It seems that some plugins force a redraw of the today screen when coming out of stb. Nothing much to do but turn off the offending plugin.
Go to settings/today and on tab for objects remove the flag for timeout. Problem gone.
Nice try, no prize - problem not gone.
This appears to be a WM6 "feature".

This is a really annoying "feature" of WM6. So far no answer in the Microsoft forums regarding this. Would be glad if i could return to exactly the screen where i switched off the device or in which the timeout forced it to suspend.
If it is not possible to fix this with a registry hacking, would it be possible to develop a small helper application which saves which application was open before the atual suspend takes place and upon a wakeup reads this information and switches to the last active window ? The app itself is still active, isn't it ?
Regards,
Secuspec
Wait. So what exactly happens? I also used vp3G 3.0 and let's say I have Resco File Explorer open and my phone sits idle for 1 minute and goes into standby mode.. when I press the power button to make the screen turn on again, it still shows Resco File Explorer for me.. Is the bug causing it to go back to the today screen every time the phone goes into standby mode?
if a program is left open when the device is turned off (or screen "muted") the program will be minimized when you turn the Pocket PC back on (you're kicked back to Today).
Glad I'm not the only once having issues. Thought it may be a design (flaw) but IMO it's a crappy one. Wish someone can find a fix.
interesting, it looks like if you remove the device password it doesn't minimize the apps. kinda weird IMO.

Isn't that what you would expect if you have a device password set!?
Mike
ericc - that's exactly the problem. Are you sure you're really going to "sleep", and you aren't just seeing your backlight turn off? (you should have to hit the power button to wake it back up).
Especially annoying when driving with navigation software - I want to just turn it on and see what I saw before it went to sleep.
MikeC - that's a very interesting point. I have exchange push email going, and my system administrator pushes restrictions onto my phone... I use Zenyee Stayunlock to allow me to change the ridiculous 5-minute lockout to something more reasonable.... perhaps either the device lock or Zenyee is the culprit.

Actually not really... my Windows workstation locks I expect to see the program I had maximized still on screen not all down in the toolbar minimized. IMO that doesn't make much sense (and even if it did they should have an option to select the default behaviour).

Works fine on my Tytn with WM6 official Swedish. I don't have a device lock enabled btw.
yes if the lock is turned off the programs will stay open and full screen on resume/screen toggle.
Problem seems to only take place when the device lock is enabled, no matter how long the lock period.

Thanks for the hint samw52000! That perfectly worked for me And it also sped up a lot of programs directly after wake up -what makes perfectly sense since no other program is interfering anymore.
Long time after last reply, but still no solution.
I notice if time in suspend mode is longer that programmed in settings/Lock/Prompt if device unused for... (if you have to tap your password) then screen is same as before suspend.

Vibrate during appointments

Dear All,
I found that the above option is not working anymore for the last couple of days.
Not sure if it is because of one of the following cabs that I installed.
1. Spike's Mic Neo Task bar
2. [email protected] color tf3d
Any ideas what would be the cause. Help is greatly appreciated
Yogam
I don't see how my theme would interfere with that. The CAB package only replaces several manila files and png files. No registry changes.
Have you checked your Sounds and Notifications settings?

Sorry mate, no offense, I am not at all saying that yours did it. I just mentioned that these are the things that I installed off late.
Yes I did check on it and the setting is 'Set to vibrate during appointments' which is not working. Any help?
By the way, I am not a techie guy hence seeking some help here
No offense taken. Just trying to help. As you can probably guess, I have both of those items you mentioned installed on my device. And I've just did a test.
I've set the Sound Profile to Automatic. Then I've created a new appointment so that it would occur right at this very moment I'm testing. As expected, my device switched to Vibrate mode as indicated on my taskbar. I made a call from my home phone to my TP2. As expected, the ringtone did not play while the device vibrated.
So, if you have your Sound Profile set correctly and you indeed had an active appointment, your device should be switched to vibrate mode automatically. If not, I have no more ideas for you mate, but it's definitely not my theme or Spike's taskbar.

Thank you.
But I also later realized that I changed my ring type to 'Vibrate & Ring' and as a test I changed it back to 'Ring' and guess it seems to work ok. So may be that it was the reason.
Thanks for your inputs.
If you have touchflo disabled. Where do you set this option to vibrate when you have an appointment setup ?

Hi Yogam
On investigation, I *think* the Automatic Profile might fail if there's no reminder set for the appointment. Does that help?
Also noticed that all-day appointments cause problems: when I add an all-day appointment for tomorrow, the Automatic Profile switches to vibrate straightaway. Don't know whether it'd switch tomorrow if I set an all-day for the day after, though.
Incidentally, the Automatic Profile seems not to switch for "Free" appointments.
So see, too, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=525533 where agentdr8 recommends ageye's G-Profile. I've not tried it but it looks good
Hmm... I've had a quick look and from the forums G-Profile seems to suffer from problems inherent in WinMo such as problems with all-day appointments and Wi-fi in standby
(http://forum.ageye.de/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=735&p=3274&hilit=all+day+appointment#p3274)
So I think my solution at the mo is to stick with WinMo's Automatic Profile functionality remembering:
1) set a reminder for an appointment during which I want a little vibration (sorry)
2) mark all-day appointments as Free, unless I want a little vibration...often (sorry)

Hi Mate,
Sorry, didnt look into this thread for quite a while as I got it sorted out, probably due to some up mess ups in my appointments. But it was working fine after the day.
Thank you very much for taking the effort to send me a PM

A-Button Glitch

I've found myself back here on the forums after getting frustrated with the official Windows updates.
There's a really big glitch I've encountered that changes the volume from Normal to Vibrate or vice versa.
It took me years to finally realize why my phone was switching profiles without me changing it.
Whenever I start a new text message and type the letter 'A' too fast as the first letter of the message it changes to Normal/Vibrate. If I slowly start typing the message, the glitch is avoided.
Has anyone else encountered this bizarre problem? I'm still trying to figure out how this could even be possible! Any suggestions from the gurus?
This problem exists on ALL Roms I believe ... I have always had it.
Here is the explanation, as I see it:
The Texting program, in all honesty, sucks. Windows decided to create the TextBox before loading up the history of messages, which meant there was a huge lag. FURTHER: They didn't do these actions on separate threads, which means the lag would occur on one thread.
Now think of it this way: While a program can have different 'threads' to run on, the keyboard, while an input to the program, will get its own thread because it is a system device. So the Keyboard gets its own thread, therefore its own buffer.
What goes on, in the second it takes to load the text message history is this:
1) TextBox appears and is activated to user [and Keyboard]
2) History load starts on same thread as TextBox
3) User types "A"
4) "A" is sent to the foreground window, which is the TextBox
5) The TextBox takes a while to respond, to process the message, therefore the system assumes the key was held down for X seconds.
6) Realizing this is the Hard-coded "change-profile" shortcut, the system then sends a message to the Profile 'manager' (if one exists, but in theory let us say it does) to switch profiles.
7) The TextBox stops lagging since the history is loaded, and it registers that the 'A' key was lifted.
The whole issue has to do with timing and buffers ... all pretty stupid errors on Microsoft's part.
I had wanted to start making a replacement, but alas, I have no time
One day....maybe one day
Brilliant Cyclone! Thanks for the simplified/understandable response.
I didn't realize the quick button to switch profiles is the 'A' button. That's much more understandable.
I just updated my phone to 3v0, but then downdated to 1.22.531.6 because it 3v0 was too buggy.
It cleared all my text messages and I haven't had the A-glitch yet. I'm guessing clearing the text history is the only way to avoid the glitch.
I'm surprised I haven't heard other people talking about this problem. I Googled it, but couldn't find anything.
Very interesting...although, these kind of problems are expected when dealing with Microsoft.
I just had a thought...
How easy would it be to change the "Hard-coded "change-profile" shortcut" to a letter that is never used? Like 'Q'. Or completely remove the change-profile shortcut.
You guys are way over my head when it comes to working with the fundamentals of phones(the registry?) like this. I'd like to learn more, but I must also say....One day....maybe one day!
I don't honestly believe it is possible..."hard coded' means that they programmed it straight into the OS.
Now realize, this is only my theory, I can be 100% incorrect..
The OS can't have any changes made to it? I thought this was possible through something like "regedit" on PC's. Changes to the registry aren't changes to the OS?

Things in the Registry aren't 'hardcoded' ... when I say 'hardcoded' I mean that when Microsoft employees was in their IDEs developing, they typed in a few lines of code dealing with the A-Key, and then compiled it. We cannot change that, especially since it is part of the ROM.

Problem after phone call - mobile network settings

Hi
I've on my ARC S ICS 4.0.4 ver .587. What I observed, that in 95% after phone call phone opened the mobile network settings.
Is any reason why phone is doing something like that.
On ICS ver .431 was the same situation
thanks in advance for any help.
P.S. additional I've installed XS Lockscreen Aeon but before instillation the situation was the same.
regards
R.
I'm on the same ROM, and I never had the situation you explained... Please check that some application you recently installed is not making this bug. Some applications are requesting weird permissions, therefore they could affect some things not related to application purpose/task at all.
Example: 5 or 6 months ago, there was a weird bug in GO SMS Pro (you probably know about that app), which forced your every phone call to go through loud speaker, no matter if you turn it of every time it turns itself on. And also that is example of how weird permissions are some apps requesting. They fixed it in short time, but the point is, there is real possibility that there is some application responsible for that weird bug you have.
Because noone else is reporting similar bug (at least till now), so it is 99% related to concretely your phone/apps/activities.

I checked and found out that if I had in QP "Toggle Network Mode" enabled this problem occurred. So after several combination I uninstall "QuickPanelSettings" and install once again and problem disappear (different file: QuickPanelSettings.apk).

Question Can someone help me with some Do Not Disturb issues?

Lately I've never remembered to post and ask, surely will be a lot easier than endlessly thumbing through the phone to try and find the right settings. Hoping someone here may have been through this recently and has it fresh on their mind.
With my alarm set, it does activate audibly the way it should while Do Not Disturb is active. However, the screen remains on the dimmed Always On screen. I guess technically speaking, the alarm does not come on top when in Do Not Disturb mode.
I have starred contacts which are allowed to ring through my Do Not Disturb, one of which is my work. When I take a phone call, I can see who is calling me, but have to unlock the phone and sometimes bring the phone app up before I can answer. The actual answer button is not shown on the display.
I guess the most critical is needing help with #2. It might sound petty, but when you are in deep sleep and work calls you at 3am and you miss their call........its rather frustrating on both ends. If I didn't have self-control I would have snapped a few phones in half already.
FWIW, this was prevalent on my S20 Ultra as well (G988U), and my current device is the S20 Ultra (S908U).
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated!
not sure if this will work, but try adding "clock" or whichever alarm app you are using as the Exceptions to the DND.
As for the contacts, try to reproduce it by purposefully starting the DND and have someone call you... if the issue is reproduced, then report it to samsung members app > get help > error report asap so that samsung engineers can look into why you are not getting the notification for that caller.
So I've tried everything suggested so far. I even just recently wiped my phone, and paid close attention to this detail with DND. Eveb freshly wiped, it is still not working as it should (or I should say, as I want it to).
Bumping again in hopes someone else might see it now and know where I need to go. Thanks in advance!
Currently using One UI Beta 5 on my S22.
I have issues with Modes & Routines, specifically the driving mode.
Even after turning the "driving mode" off / deleting it, while in transit the mode pops back and enables on its own.
