Nokia 4gb SD
sorry to dash your hopes - Looked at nokia europe and this lists the MU-41 SD card as an SDHC - thus not compatible - shame as I could do with the extra storage - to many tunes!!!!

HTC Universal & SD Card Issues 4GB

hi everyone,
I do have an issue with a SD Card of 4GB size.
Whenever I use it, my device sometimes stalls.
it does stop during video playback (tcpmp) or navigation (TomTom). After I removed the card it continues where it got stuck (even if I reenter card) but it might stop soon again.

xanadu, do you mean JWright's 1.90.96 ROM can use the 4GB SD Card without problems from the CAMERA application? Can the camera application store the pictures directly to the 4GB SD Card without any problems?
I don't have a 4GB card to try it with. I wanted to buy one though, thus my question.

I have only 2 GB SD last week recognised only 1 GB on my qtek9000 and on my compaq nc6120, usually both can read to 4 GB
Now it works again on 2 GB but I'v reformatted it with http://www.sdcard.org/downloads/sdfv2000.exe
My friend has a 4 GB SD, it works no more in Universal, after formatting got 3,2 GB, but works only in pc sd-reader and camera. This 4 Gb SD-card worked perfectly in this mda-pro before with Jwrightmcps 1.90.96 rom, but now we tested with 2 qtek9000 and mda-pro, neither can recognise it.
I'll ask him how was with camera applications on sd 4 GB, my 2 GB sd works fine in qtek9000 as well worked before six months in sx66 (qtek9090)
Nowadays for 60 EUR possible to buy a 4 GB SD, but the experiences are not conclusive.
PS. 4 gb sd works fine with Universal till don't insert it into printer (by .dredd)
into digital camera (by me) they reformat it sometimes and are unreadable or less memory.
Hi all, sorry for whats gonna be a very vauge post, I have read of this problem, and of a fix, I'll try and dig it out and post a link, basically, as far as I understand it, the xda universal has problem storing pics / vids taken on the camera onto sd card, I've read that if there's 2 gig + in the pics folder that it works, but thatsnot a very good fix, and not the one I've read of.
I'll try and find it and post back

Thanks for the response.
There was a post awhile ago which suggested that the MDA Pro cannot read more than 2gb. If you were to store more than 2gb of files/stuff onto the memory card, then the camera will not have a problem accessing the memorycard.
Give it a try and let us know.
Thanks.
thanks all so far for the answers!
Well, I did never put the sd card in any printer, just an SD Card reader.
It can read & write up to 4GB onto it & I can somehow read (access) it on the MDA, but nonetheless it stalls sometimes - especially during video playback that is REALLY annoying - it stalls - I remove the card, immediately the playback continues (for brief seconds - guess till storage is empty) then it stops, till I reinsert the card in the QTek9000. Then the same repeats, it continues till it stalls again, sometimes 40seconds later, sometimes 3-5 minutes.

IMHO jj is capable of reading or writing 4gb card infact many of us r already using it.
I read on the site of Sandisc a while ago of the new standard for SD cards SDHC(SD High Capaicty standard), and Sandisc warns about manufacturers who build 4 gb sd cards on the SD technology. Sandisc says that the SD technology supports up to 2 gb. And that 4 GB cards manufactured on this technology may encounter problems, . The SDHC technology is for 4GB up to 32 GB. Sandisc adviced when buying a 4gb or bigger capacity to look for the SDHC logo in the package to ensure stability and no data loss.
for more detailed info go to
http://www.sandisk.com
and search for SDHC the first link you find will explain the difference and problems that may occur.
I think that the PDA's don't have a problem the read and write to these devices, but that the problem can be the card it self.

Unfortunately Universal can't recognise SDHC cards, therefor Sandisc's advice is useless.

are you sure about that? or did you look at the compatibility list on de sandisk website?
That information can be inaccurate, it says to: "Please check with your device manufacturer for details. ".
Sandisk advice is not entirely useless, it points out that the problem can be the SD card also( due the limitation of the FAT16), because the FAT16 of the SD technology does not support a capacity bigger than 2GB.
But if the problem is the Device, then I'm very disappointed with my qtek9000.. Maybe a driver update can solve the problem. because i have a casio exilim sz600 and casio released an update for the camera, I flashed the update and the camera is SDHC compatible..didn't test it yet, must by a sdhc compliant card.

SDHC for Windows Mobile

Hi All,
It is being said that Windows Mobile as of date doesn't support SDHC.
Initially neither XP, Vista or Palm supported it
but now there is proper fix for XP and Vista, alongside there is a trick by which Treo recognizes SDHC.
So i am having it hard to believe that Windows Mobile doesn't have a fix or a trick.
Exeperience with my dell Laptop:
As such it says that as it is old laptop it won't support, and it initially didn't.
Then i stumbled of the XP fix (not officially released yet) my Microsoft for SDHC.
on applying the fix, my card is operating like butter on my dell.
I checked the contents of the fix to find on one '.dl' with some name like 'sd**'. Which leads me to believe it was a driver related fix.
was wondering if there is something being worked out for windows mobile as well (officially or unooficially).
thanks
RE
Are you saying that after aplying the fix to your Win XP your card reader/writer is now able to recognise SDHC card?
BTW, do you require a SDHC card reader/writer or just a simple SD card reader/writer will do the job?
Is the card reader/writer built-in to your DELL or is it an external card USB reader/writer?
What capacity SDHC card are you referring to? 8GB?
Where do you get the fix? Could you post a link?
Thanks
I bought a microSDHC™ 4GB (Sandisk) and it run perfectly with Windows Mobile 6 SE EC 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) on my HTC TyTN (Hermes).
Hi FOSA,
Are you saying that after aplying the fix to your Win XP your card reader/writer is now able to recognise SDHC card?
Yes exactly.
BTW, do you require a SDHC card reader/writer or just a simple SD card reader/writer will do the job?
It's a simple Dell Inspiron 630m inbuilt SD Card reader.
Is the card reader/writer built-in to your DELL or is it an external card USB reader/writer?
Built-In
What capacity SDHC card are you referring to? 8GB?
4GB i have but the fix will also work for 8GB
Where do you get the fix? Could you post a link?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923293 - Description of the fix KB923293
http://thehotfixshare.net/download/index.php?dir=English/Windows XP/ - Location of the fix to download - just search for 923293, alternatively you can call microsoft and get it deirectly from them (as mentioned in description page).
Thanks[/QUOTE]
correction
The above fix is for 4GB SDHC only.
for more than 4GB SDHC use the below fix. : KB934428
cheers
And there is a similar fix for Windows CE as well in the April 2007 CE5.0 update- refer Microsoft's website.
only one missing is Windows Mobile.
SDHC update for Windows CE 5.0 is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933809
but how to download and build it ?
Ant-125,
I reckon CE 5.0 is not same a windows Mobile 5.0.
what we need here is the fix/driver for wm 5.0/6.0
topgunarindam,
Thanks so much for your info.
I got a new laptop with built-in SD Card Reader. I installed both Windows XP and Windows Vista (dual-boot).
In WIndows Vista, it can read my 4GB Transend SD Card, which I use with my PPC. But in Windows XP, it always prompt me to reformat the card and cannot read it.
If I plug in a USD card reader, then it can read my 4GB card, just fine.
I have tried to find updated driver for the built in SD reader but found none.
After reading your post just now, I simply tried it, and guess what, it works.
Now the SD Card reader reads my 4GB SD Card perfectly and I do not need to carry the USB reader anymore.
My 4GB card is not SDHC, but this hotfix takes care of it as well. =)
Thanks again.
If this works on regular, piss old card readers, we've just caught the SDHC alliance red-handed for misleading consumers. Even if the SDHC alliance is right, tho, full 4GB support (instead of dodgy or spotty ones) is a nice addition to anything...
sandisk 4g sdhc
I just recieve my 4gb sandisk sdhc card but windows vista doesnt recognise it, it just doesnt detect anything.]
Any help please. i tried downloading the fix but it says i dont need it.
Does that particular Sandisk card come with its own reader?
And you can't use XP patches on Vista. Vista has its own set of SD-card patches...

What about a solution for WM6 (CE5.2)?

WM6 since aku 0.2 have added native SDHC support. But OEM has to make some minor modifications in drivers.
so is my WM6 5.2.1413 compitable with SDHC without any mods?

SDHC on Prophet???

Hi,
has anyone ever tried to insert an SDHC (High Capacity) memory card in his/her Prophet?
Will the OS (WM5 or WM6) recognise this medium or will there ever be drivers for this type of sd?
Doesnt work ... use search function ... possible some on make a driver or not ... nobody knows more!
You mean There is No Driver For Prophet ??
I download x500 Driver, But it Dosent Work
SDHC is anything over 2GB right? I have a 4GB SD running in mine.
The card doesn't specifically say it is SDHC, but it is certainly 4GB. OCZ is the brand of the card.
I'm using a non-SDHC 4Gb card and it works fine. I don't think you can get higher capacity than 4gb without going to SDHC but I've not heard of a working Prophet driver for it.
4gb
4gb is the cut-off point. You can have sdhc 4gb cards, or non-sdhc 4gb SD cards. I have a 4gb(at least 133mhz) one from the company 'CnMemory' which works great.

Not the driver is the problem. I think the hardware is not reading those SDHC. I've also tryied. I've buyed an SDHC 8 Gb but i only use like a portable memory because i cannot use inside my Qtek S200
I read MSDN and i found that we need to recompile or patch the sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll
But may be HTC also modified a SD Host Controller for understanding only SD 1.1
In this case we should modify the Host controller driver.
P.S.
The SDHCdrivers from Artemis and x500 - dont work on s200
The only last thing I want for my Neo after getting the Big Storage ROM is the SDHC compatibility, after that my Neo is the pefect working PPC Phone!

As I understood, the controller function is on the TI chip itself in Prophet.
This should mean that HTC cannot have altered it.
(there are SDHC compliant phones which use the same OMAP)
Wouldn't it be possible to find a patch the same way as the Artemis people (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332445) hve done it from a machine with the same chip ?
there is an sdhc driver for eten x500 throughout the net. i tried it on my prophet. but it disables wifi functionality. moreover, i could not test it since i didn't have any sdhc card at hand.

The hardware doesn't support it... It's possible to use certain drivers that allow 4GB cards to be used as they don't need the double length address bit that SDHC uses, but any more and you need different hardware.

Maximum SD card size with MDA Compact 3

I have SanDisk, Kingston micro sdhc cards in 2,4,8, and 16Gb, and they all work on my Excalibur running #3VO ROM WM6.5. I know other members can confirm that.
I'm using 4GB Sandisk microsd hc, without problems. 3VOLUTION ROM
I am also using a 4gb card and have had no problems.
You "should" be able to use anything up to 16GB
Should is because not all sdhc cards are made the same/same class etc....
Which is why if searched this would have already been answered SanDisk/Kingston branded if going for a high capacity, generic if small 2GB -.
