Car Holder For Mwg Ubiquio 501 (Also know as the I-mate JAC3) - General Accessories

Can anyone recommend a good sturdy adapter I can use to secure my 501 whilst in the car?
I'd hope I'd be able to find a brodit adapter, as the universal type never seem to hold the phone securely enough or are so ungainly I might have well have used gaffer tape, but It doesn't look like they make one.
I've already got the dash mount kit for my Ford Focus so I've a good solid place to fix it to.

car mount to replace tomtom mount

currently have an ipaq4150 tomtom mount in car, does the job perfectly, it feeds the tomtom bt gps with power, is very steady on the windshield, and powers the ipaq (via cigarette lighter), slotting it and out with ease.
I am about to recieve an xda exec, and I am wanting a similarly neat solution.
I want it powered, off the windshield, and able to power the bt. I dont want a generic one size fits all, they are messy, and dont hold the phones very well.....
Is there a holder that will do this for me?
If not, is there a one that can be clipped into the air vents (mk2 mondeo) to do the same thing?
thanx
I know it would become cable central, but why not invest in a splitter for your 12v supply - one feeds the receiver and the other feeds the mount.
I just bought a gooseneck brodit cradle from bryson (www.dsldevelopments.co.uk) and i'm really happy with it.
I dont need the bluetooth power as I've got a parrot gps bluetooth carkit.
Suggest that you consider the Brodit mount, it comes in 2 parts, 1 that fits the specific car & 1 that fits the specific PDA, you can also get a suction mount.
Looks neet & PDA very secure.
I purchased mine on e-bay along with a Y cable to power my Jasjar & BT GPS unit.

I got this one, simply perfetct

Car Cradle/Holder

Hi All,
I've been reading this forum for a while now and I'n currently looking for a active car holder. I've seen all kinds come by, but the one that I (and others I think) are looking for is no were to be seen!
The Veripart is a step in the right direction. But I don't need a extra speaker AND I want my MDA vertical! Is it so hard for the cradle developers to create one like that.
Does any know of a cradle like that?
PS, sorry for the tone in this post, but I just get a bit frustrated that something so easy could be so hard to get.
Hi, Welcome to the forum,
Have you seen the Brodit holders for the Exec/JasJar etc.
They offer Passive holders: code 848649, (just holds it) or Active with Cig Charger code: 968649 or hardwired to vehicles power code: 971649.
All the holders allow you to have it either in vertical PDA mode, or Laptop mode with exposed keyboard, and also full rotation for landscape view for sat nav etc.
Have a look at: http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/brodit.asp either do a search by PDA make, the codes above or the 968649 is listed further down the homepage.
All the holders either fit onto a vehicle specific proclip (choose your car make, model and year) or onto a windscreen suction mount.
Hope that helps you decide, many users have these and have posted positive comments on the forum about them.
Cheers,
Bryson
Hi Bryson,
Yes I know.. But I just hate to have to connect the power supply each time manualy. When you look at the veripak one it has the connector build in. You just slide the mda in the cradle and youre done.
I'm using an Arkon vehicle mount for my Wizard. It's also a windshield mount with a tightening swivel head that can be locked into either vertical or horizontal position. Take a look here -- http://www.arkon.com/pdamount.php
There's several different models of their mounts available on the site. The one I'm using is the CM920 model. Works fine for me!!
But then I would still be plugging the power in manualy every time
I had my Wizard mount from www.dsldevelopments.com dealing with Bryson. Worked great and I'm going to order the Hermes one from him too. I suppose you could always doctor the power cable and wire it in properly behind your dash.

There's a new one on the O2 XDA site that looks interesting and is vertical. I haven't found any more info on this yet though.

Does any one have and experiance with these?

There is a massive price difference too though,

XDA Orbit Brodit Active Mount

FYI
I am after a XDA Orbit Brodit Active Mount, I spoke to the helpful chap at www.dsldevelopments.com he explained the HTC P3300 active brodit mount does not fit the Orbit as the usb port is about 3mm offset compared to the HTC P3300. He said Brodit are addressing this and may have the Orbit Bodit Active mounts available in a few weeks.
Nick
I spoke to Dave at DSL Developments on 7th January. He said that Brodit currently had an Orbit, were now designing a holder, and hoped to get one into test by end of January, possibly to market in February. He said he'd get back to me by email when it's available (he's developing an email list of people awaiting one!).
I would love to see their Molex adapter to use for something USEFUL like AUDIO OUT. So everybody could use the Orbit/Artemis for connecting to car stereo AUX IN.
Sorry but I have to disagree with the assumption that this mount will not work with the orbit as I am using it on my Orbit.
Yes at first it did not work so I used a bit of gentle pressure to align it and it works really well.
Not really an issue in my opinion.
Brodit orbit active holder finally here
Just for information noticed this morning that the orbit active holder has finally appeared on the brodit website!
Does anyone know any uk based shops where these will be available soon?

Can anyone tell me how to mount the brodit holder for Artemis in your car?
There are 3 holes for screws, but I don't want to damage my car interior when installing the PocketPC car holder.
The documentation included does not say anything about how to install it
You will need a Pro-Clip to suit your vehicle, the holder will attach to that via screws, or Brodit Move-it Clip (which is a better solution as it makes it easier to remove from the vehicle) it also leaves less evidence of a mount in the car when removed - Mike
Thanks for the quick reply! I didn't knew that
Brodit Mount
Have at long last received my XDA Orbit mount from Brodit courtesy of DslDevelopments, its a peice of cake to install (you need car specific proclip to mount it onto!) the Orbit fits nicely and feels very secure, I got the active version so phone is always being charged in the car - recommended even if it did take brodit 2 months to produce it!

is there any solution for this issue by now?
i fancy that brodit active holder but it would have to be capable of connecting the device to the power supply as well as my car stereo AUX IN.
could get this sorted out with a self-built solution but i prefer having just one single cable visible in my car....
...any suggestions?
You will need to use the Passive (non powered mount) and a 3 in 1 addapter like this one http://www.easydevices.co.uk/pp/HTC_Accessories/HTC_P3300/HTC_P3300_3_IN_1_USB_ADAPTER.html
It does work very well and allows you to charge the device up, use the supplied ear phones and use the 3,5MM socket to feed the Aux input on the car.
It does not pass the earphones through as an aerial though, so you cannot use the Artemis radio when using the addapter, I have one and use it in this exact same way in the car, your other alternative is to change the stereo to one that supports Bluetooth and stream the audio to the car deck using A2DP - this works very well, but it is also very costly for a stereo that can do this - Mike
bluetooth is no good to me as i dont wanna change my car deck due to design reasons
reckon i'll actually get this sorted exactly the way you described it as brodit's active holder concept seems to be no good for audio throughput, which is a shame if you ask me
anyways, cheers for your replay mate..
My solutions
I bought a Sony MEX-BT2500 for £90 on ebay - bluetooth streaming, brilliant!
However, there are other things I've done too...
Got the standard universal PDA holder that O2 ship sometimes, or for a fiver on ebay... it's one with sliding 'feet' at the bottom of it... then put your usb connector (either straight power or a 3-way if needed,) into your device, and slide the feet to hold it tight. With this done, gently remove the device, holding the connector in place, and stategically place a couple of drops of superglue to hold the usb connector to the feet... job done.
I then fastened my holder to a bolt-free bracket for my Passatt (another ebay find) for a perfect solution...

Look here for active holders for XDA:
Brodit XDA Orbit Car Holders.
Cheap prices and good service.

My 1st EXEC.......

my first XDA EXEC will be here 2moz
may be buying one of these http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=3091
does anyone know if you have to use the mic and speaker function ?
because i would only like to use the charger function
and which mounting arm do you get with this ?
or is it worth me just getting the HR Window Mounting Kit With the Extending arm ?
I would strongly advise against using that sort of mount. They can be quite a tight fit for the Exec and, much worse, can put pressure on the mini-USB port sufficent to wrench it off the motherboard. Much much better to use the Brodit system.
thanks for the reply i eventually decided to go for the HR mount with vibration-free suction with extending arm
very sturdy
also puchased the bluetooth gps mount which is intergrated into the pda mount.....
but instead of sticking the bt gps unit directly to the mount (as specified) i used sticky velcro so i can remove the gps unit from the car easily

Droid 2 AC Vent Car Mount!

sigh...
Proclip is what you want. proclipusa dot com.
Get the car specific base mount for your ride, and then pick up either a "ball" mount (i.e. ball and socket - Garmin Nuvi 660 piece will work), or look at the "dual prong T" mounting clip with tilt-swivel. This should fit into the back of the OEM car mount (just slide this in instead of the supplied bits). I haven't tested the dual-prong T thing, but it looks like it should work.
I have tested the ball and socket method and it does work, although it's not quite as snug as I'd like. Proclip's swivel adapters are a lot more secure / stiffer.
Especially with the D2, where the mount is way more elaborate. The original D1 mount worked better with the ball & socket setup since it was lighter.
i found this one during my search
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2#ht_2177wt_911
its looks to be D2 specific...so ill post up some pics once i get it
I've been using Pro-Clip for years (ATT 8525, Tilt, Fuze, VZW TP2), so I've got the vehicle mount already.
I picked up the OEM D2 mount, but was still scratching my head on how to mount it to the Proclip vehicle mount (I HATE suction cups on the windshield). So, I just ordered the two-prong T plate
http://www.proclipusa.com/store/pro...)-mounting-plate-with-tilt-swivel-215199.aspx
Looks like it should work great - will see in a few days when the order arrives.
Finally got the two-prong plate for the proclip mount and put it on last night. The OEM car mount cradle fits it like a glove, and I've got the ability to adjust for angle too! Definitely a great way to go (although not cheap when I add up all the individual components).
Now to figure out just which apk's to rename to disable that ghey "Cardock" app - the media player it links is TERRIBLE!
I know this is an old thread, but I got a Proclip and love it. Just wanted to say thanks for the lea.
