Nothing good to say as a BT user, have reset phone so as to get away from there lame programming.

Lol yeh I had read all these already, usually because my HomeHub fails me on a daily basis (Misses his Netgear )

Hi,
I got my BT Total broadband package last week, personally I can’t say a bad word about it, in fact very impressed so far.
Granted the HTC s620 is the first phone of its kind I have ever had so I can’t compare but I love the little device. Good screen, good camera, clear calls, good reception, no problems setting up email, thumbs up all round. The only issue I had was with Active Sync but the details of that are in another thread.
I haven’t hammered the home hub yet but again so far it’s being kicking out a good strong signal since I set it up.

How long does your battery last???

Obviously it depends on what your doing but on standby it’s lasting about 5 days, with average use, (paying games, web browsing) I’d say 1-2 days. However this is with the standard battery. It comes with an extended battery in the box which I haven’t used yet, but I guess it will add about 25-40% extra, that said I need to try it really.
The only bad is (which it does warm you about) when using the wireless connection to your hub (or any hot spot) it uses loads of power. I left my phone attached to it and the phone powered off in the middle of the night (waking me up) so it literally discharged the battery in a matter of hours just by being connected via wi-fi.

I think you have been lucky and got a BT s620 that works, i was getting 2 days on average use, now i get 4 days of average use without the BT software and i have more RAM available. The only thing i don't have is BBtalk anymore, small thing to loose to make the phone better "work"

On another note, I’ve being treating my new phone with extra special care since I’ve got it, however, I’ve just had a major (and very unexpected) nose bleed. And guess what? Yup blood all over my new shiny Smartphone. But it’s resisted well and cleaned up OK and thankfully functioning fine, so that is hopefully a good indicator that it will be resilient over time.

You'd have thought a smartphone could have cleaned itself or poped out a little umbrella to protect itself.

You are better off sticking with version 2.35 as 2.37 is incredibly buggy. I have the installer for 2.35 if anyone needs it.
Battery life varies from 2 - 4 days depending on how often you use WiFi. If you use BBTalk a lot then be prepared to charge daily (not really an issue IMHO)

Ive had mine a few weeks now and I havnt had much problems with it whatso ever... then again I havnt had any problems with any of my BT products (homehub, vision, mobile etc...) it doesnt mean that it doesnt happen though as I have heard other people complian about some of their services.
Battery life doesnt seem bad whatsoever, as long as you dont leave it connected to wifi like I did once as that just drains the battery in a matter of hours.
Just come back off of a holiday where I used it to play games (guitar hero III rocks), watch my Family Guy videos using Coreplayer, take pictures and record videos of the kids and even use it as a phone once in a while and the battery lasted me just fine all I did was stick it on charge when I went to bed.
So I personally rate this phone, Ive even stopped using my old HP PPC which I used to take on long trips.
Ive noticed a lot of people also mentioning how much RAM the bt software uses, but I find that if im using a different homescreen other than the BT specific ones my available RAM is a whole lot better and I still have access to the bt software without having to uninstall the bt software.

bt broadband talk
probably a stupid question but..
is there any way to have bt broadband talk installed without having the other bt stuff?
and if so has anyone got the installer?

I get about 4-5 days out of mine before charging but that is on the extended battery the phone was crap to start with but i have unistalled the BT crap and that has made it usable but i would say it is not a very good phone and it is very quirky I much prefer my HTC universal which i will be going back to once my new screen arrives and is fitted.

Hello fellow subscribers,
Is there anyone out there who can tweak the BT Broadband anywhere software so that it installs fully and works with wm6.1 and wm6.5?
Could those who have the know-how please respond? I am happy to get a PM if that's the best way to respond to my question.
Cheers.

If you check the BT Anywhere Forum people have got the VOIP to work with WM6.1, not that i think worth it as it's a bismal.
The rest of the software is pointless especially the AV and the ROM won't even go into it
What you gain in a WM6.1 ROM far supases the loss of BT Software

I don't know where I am missing it, I have googled for this, gone onto the said forum, could not find any discussion there.
I will ry again just now. If you know precisely the link, could I have it please?
Thanks.

Are you happy with you Universal?

i just have to ask this question...
I have my MDA-Pro for about 2 months now and have installed two O2 roms (I'm at present running 1.13.82 WWE from 02).
but i'm just not convinced. i'd love to love love my Universal (I am a self confessed gadget person who just HAS to have the newest thing!). it's just not 'doing it' for me yet.
UMTS (i am with the german provider e-plus) is not spectacular, the phone is ok, but i get mixed opinions as to my calls with my bluetooth headset...(jabra BT800).
Also, the device just doesn't feel snappy. it has a fast processor and i have really not many programs installed (the basics: pocket informant, resco explorer, pocket mechanic, skype & ozVGA - although i don't always run in VGA).
for navigation i own a mio168 with TomTom 5. This device feels quicker than my Universal.
am i doing something wrong? can i do something right?
i appreciate your help and comments.
Hi effjay,
just for one subject of your message.
I use a BT800 as well and have the same result using it (not even UMTS, just GSM). My experience is that if the actual available memory is too small, the BT gets bad quality. A soft-reset and I am confirmed to be totally clear again.
Your question I would answer with : "not yet" meaning I am convinced that one or two updates (which still have to come) and I will be happy.

NO :x :?
i don't know why i do it!
i purchased a HP6315 when they first came out (i was lucky to be holidaying in singapore at that time!), and i sold it again quite quickly as i was not happy with the performance.
i guess i should have learned from that lesson. i was (am?) really hoping that the universal will be the thing it should be, but it just isn't. it's unreliable.
things that worked fine yesterday (i.e. voice dialling with my jabra BT800) for whatever reason decided to not work today. i had to reset and then everything was fine. this is not acceptable and it's so annoying.
so i guess (after my moaning!) all i'm trying to say is that i hope that someone, somewhere can finally deliver a ROM that is stable, is economic with memory and that just does what it's supposed to!
stranger things have happened...haven't they?!

Not really.
I love the screen, I love the keyboard, but it's soooo slow. I would love to see a HTC Universe with PalmOS Or Windows Mobile 2003. My Old MDA III (Blue Angel) is MUCH faster. And it has only 400MHz (or 420?)
Am I happy?.
no at all.
i hate this machine specially with my Arabic langauge.
no way to buy again...
I hate this device!
I spent a lot of money on this brick! It simply doesn't work! (T-Mobile Pro!)
1.) EVERY morning it has hang up! seems to happen on recieving a mail or sms.
2.) When you open it and put it like a Laptop on your desc you cannot tap on the screen without tipping it. It will fall on its back!
You have to use your second hand! (SIC!) Even then!
3.) T-Mobile branding is so annoying that I sometimes get angry just by looking at it! Startscreen (morning booting)
4.) I'm using a DELL X50v and a Compact, a XDA III and a QTec 8310.
Each of this devices is at least 2 times faster (Even with switched off Error Handling) Its unbelievable SLOW!
5.) Roaming does not work well. When I travel by train or car, my colleages can phone for hours without any troubles. My sh*** Pro does just hang up or disconnect every 5-10 minutes.
6.) Finaly - this device seems to be unhackable (there is still no SIM-Unlocker) This may make T-Mobile happy, but not me as a customer.
There are about 25 further problems. If anyone would like to see them, just tell me!
This device is NOT for professional use!

I totally agree.
This is a nice, first generation beta childplay.
This is something the same when Frank Zappa published one album which was totally empty.
I bought mine purely for experimental purposes, I have no real need for a PDA! As such I think it's great.
I'm not convinced as a phone and will be getting a second, much smaller handset. I wouldn't like to rely on this device on a professional level. I find the battery life very poor and it once lost all my contacts. They came back after a soft reset, but I wasn't happy to have to wait over 5 mins to make a call.
Once the teething problems have been sorted out, I'm sure it will be a fantastic device. It has the potential to be great! I fear however, that by the time the problems are sorted out, there will be better, faster, smaller, more reliable devices available.
Sank5
nope!
its slow and seemingly buggy, i would like someone to do a backup on their phone that works properly then post that to see if it makes a difference... we could end up with a workable model after all..
o2 exec
I love my exec! I wouldn't change it for the world! Of course it is going to have teething troubles, but these are being sorted, both by software updates and the great people on this forum! The size issue is irrelevant, we all knew it was going to be big, and as people have already explained on this forum elsewhere the vga screen is the main reason it is a bit slow.
Just my two cents!
Fin
I absolutely loved it when I first got it. But I'm getting more and more frustrated with it.
1) The goddamn alarms just refuse to work half the time. I never know if it will work in the morning or if it won't wake me up. I spent 1,200 US and it doesn't even work as an alarm clock!
2) The device is really slow.
3) The ActiveSync in incredibly unreliable: sometimes it just stops syncing for no apparent reason at all. Everything worked the night before but it doesn't the very next morning. What the...?! Now, all of a sudden it starts asking me for an Exchange password. Why? I didn't do anything differently!
4) The POP mail account just disappears sometimes.
5) The phone is so difficult to answer - you press the button and nothing happens - the thing just freezes and I have to call people back.
6) Some programs just disappear from the Settings menu and reappear later after a few soft resets.
It's annoying that the thing is so frustrating - it's such a great concept! But the only way it work in an acceptable manner is if it doesn't have any programs installed - right after a hard reset, but if that's the case, there's no point in this "micro laptop" if you can't install programs.
VERY HAPPY.
Doesn't feel faster than my old JAM, but it's got 4 times the pixels to shift. A good memory manager and never switching it off allows it to remain zippy-ish though.
Wifi is rock solid, bluetooth works a treat, but I use that less at the moment, activesync sucks balls, but that's an MS problem, 3G/GPRS/AS/Wifi switching works flawlessy, screen rotation works great, WM5.0 isn't compatible with all my fave progs yet, but give it time, battery life is good, as long as I don't use a lot of wifi without a charger (suits me) , screen is great, keyboard is great...
Loving it so far.
Universal - great PDA, rubbish phone
there is no doubting that the Universal is a superb PDA - i don't really have so many problems using it for surfing either.
it's just mainly the phone part. it's not reliable.
so often i'm told that i was not available although my universal was turned on and i was definately within a very good signal range. upon rebooting the universal everything is fine.
due to browsing the forums here i had a very lean system with really only some basic stuff: pocketInformat, resco explorer, magic button & ozVGA
i was running the O2 ROM (corporate mode) - although i have just updated to the new T-Mobile German ROM...
i hope that it addresses some of my phone reliability issues.
i'll keep you all posted
Besides the Activesync which at times decides to go on vacation, I think this device rocks.
Everyone knew it was big so that doesn't really count doesn't it?

Battery drain improvement

First off let me say, you guys have done a great job in getting this project as far as it has. XDAndroid is great!
As much as I try to use it full time, the battery drain issue is a drag. If i'm lucky ill get about 6 hours with regular use (only keep gtalk and gmail running in the background) but alas this just isnt long enough in my hectic life, as my journeys into public are usually more than 6 hours.
So what are the chances of battery drain improvement? Is there any hope that it can be improved? Some fine tuning with the kernel and the drivers? Or is this as good as it gets?
Keep up the good work guys.
This project is literally being reverse-engineered... so it's not exactly easy.
Plus, power management always seems to have some fancy proprietary features behind it to be truly robust, which will take a long time for this project to sort out.
It's one of those things that kinda kills a project as well - not that it's killed this project by any means, but it's one of those 800lb gorillas that everyone tries to ignore - mainly because of the difficulty that is inherent.

I honestly believe the battery life could be improved. We're still at a rather incomplete stage, after all.. seeing as how we lack GPS, Camera, and complete Bluetooth support? I know there was work recently done to cleanup some low-level kernel parts which improved headset support. I'd say that it's not hopeless because if the G1 can run Android reasonably well, the HTC Touch Pro, Diamond, etc.. all could as well. That's just my take on it.
I didn't mean to imply it couldn't be improved - not by a long shot. Just that it is a mysterious piece in the puzzle.
It's not so cut-and-dry as say GPS - it works or it doesn't. Battery life, it's one of those fuzzy things that seems to be different for everyone. So I certainly hope (and feel) that it can be improved, just don't expect it to happen anytime soon.
i hope to sell my fuze in the near future, April and buy a g1 yayy.

Not sure how this applies to this thread... or why you would choose a G1 when there's so many better Android devices out there now. But that still doesn't explain why you posted in this thread.
Back to the thread, I'm hoping for some battery drain improvement... the camera, GPS, BT, etc would all be very nice, but I could use Android full time without them. It's exceedingly difficult to use Android full time with the battery in the state it's in.
I agree. While I do like the functionality in the state its in, it is not practical for me to use a phone o/s that can't last 6 hours with moderate use. I went back to winmo for the first time in a couple months and was reminded how much better it is at sipping battery life. I hope to use Android full time in the future once battery life gets a bit better.
i am sure the devs will find a solution to this..same goes to certain roms..some said the battery life is bad..but then, the devs managed to fix the battery issue, boom!back to normal..so,i think XDAndroid will improve..just give it some time though..
I'm being hopeful that they can, they've worked wonders before, so I'm sure its possible.
Hoping I get a job in this economic climate as well, then I can buy me a snapdragon powered android beast.

I agree with you totally. I wish I could use Android as a main OS but that's impossible. So many issues, so many bugs!
I would like to thank all the guys who've been working on this project, I guess I'll have a glance on it in several months to see the improvements
First of all its really awesome to have Android running on Winmo.. Like all other users, im also experiencing the heavy battery drain while using android. One other i have noticed is the my fuze gets really heated up while using Android. Does anyone know why?
Lets hope the developers out there will be able to put together a decent xdandroid with gps and bluetooth anytime soon and will be able to fix the battery drain.

I used to have insane heat issues when I first started running Android, but it's gotten much better for me.
Do you run wifi a lot? I know people were complaining about that heating up the device, which is kind of expected.
As far as the cause of the heat issue, I don't think anyone really *knows* why. There's a lot of issues, the main one being this is not exactly a "manufacturer-sanctioned" project - which means the devs working on this project are pretty much making educated guesses on everything. Power management has made great improvements, but still has some way to go.
I'm not sure if this project is ever going to become a "complete" replacement for WinMo, I sure hope that it one day is... but I'm not holding my breath.
With that said, I love the work the devs have done. I'm extremely impressed that the project has made it this far, so there really is no telling how far it can go or where it will end.
Battery
There is really only one thing I have to say.....I'm not going to dwell on the fact PEOPLE cant get the camera etc.....to work. That really to me doesn't really matter.
The thing that does get me and bother me.....Is the fact that the geniuses that work at/for XDA are so worried about every else to work for xdandroid......EXCEPT the battery....lmao. Now I can deal with not being able to use the camera or GPS or whatever the case may be, but if I have 5 hours to enjoy it twice a day.......WTF....lol.....
Now I'm not trying to piss anybody off because every developer here works hard at what they do...props to them. But come one you should really prioritize the things you fix.
In short if you have 5 hours to use something that is half way done compared to 2 days to use on something halfway done......Who in this forum would be WAY more excited....lol....be honest.
This is just a suggestion....and I'm not trying to piss anybody off....but come on.....think about it.....people wouldnt want their camera to work for 5 mins and then have to charge their phone jus to make a phone call...lol.
Congrats to all the developers on all the good work they have did so far. I know its hard work to do esspecially for free. But really good job guys. I know it must be hard. Cause my thing is computers so I know phones are in a whole different
Yeah I'd have to agree that the battery drain is what is probably going to be a deal killer for me. The work to make all of the features (pretty much) function is impressive to say the least. Right now I'm running the 3/31 Eclair build and the super light ROM on my Fuze just to boot to linux, but it looks like I'll have to make sure to employ a full WinMo ROM with the Gen.Y Dual Boot. Not sure if there are issues with having functions enabled in the WinMo settings when trying to use Android, but hopefully it won't be too bad switching between the two. I know with my Rhodium it was impossible to really keep two fully functional builds up and running without having to boot into WinMo, disable a whole bunch of stuff, then finally run Haret.
Hopefully now that most of the features have been solved, power management come a bit more to the forefront, but you can't really expect great strides in short periods of time there. It's gonna take a lot of work and as mentioned earlier, power management and efficiency is some of the hardest stuff to crack. But seeing what these guys have already accomplished, I have faith. Until then, it's back to my NRG roms.

Whether you're trying to or not, this kind of post really does piss me off. You have no idea what you're talking about if you say that nobody is trying to squeeze more battery life out of these devices.
Try sitting in the IRC channel for a day and watching what everybody in there talks about. Probably more than half of it will be about battery life. We all know it's not great and we all know that users will want a full day out of it. Knowing about it and fixing it are two different things and it's just not easy. There is barely any documentation available about the hardware because it's Windows Mobile, closed-source and for vendors only.
Unless you can sneak into Qualcomm's offices, steal their documentation*, and are willing to dive into the hardware and reverse-engineer the tons of software yourself, stop complaining about it. Constructive criticism is fine. Most of your post is pure complaining and doesn't help anybody or make anybody feel better about their work.
The developers thank you for using and testing this stuff, and in the future if you come across any new breakage, please don't hesitate to report it in the XDANDROID thread. But please do so in a friendly manner. None of the developers want anything to be broken.

I do not understand why people attack XDAndroid for battery issues when I am sitting at 40% without plugging my phone in for 11h 13m and 33s(looking at it right now). I mean, the situation with the battery is a hell of a lot more better than what Windows Mobile has to offer. I'd be down to a slightly lower percent by this point. And honestly, 12 hours and no need to plug in my phone? That's like a miracle with the RAPH110 :S. The battery itself is too weak to really handle one whole day to begin with. I guess people forget to account for that, too.
In my opinion, I think some people are doing away with BT now that it works and possibly running a ton of items in the background. Which of course, would hinder battery. The only things I have running are the messaging app, google talk, SMS Backup, and yeah. Never do I find myself on Wifi.. I'm always on data. So yeah. The heat issues in Android have gone down, too. Gosh.. it makes me mad that some people are so thoughtless >_<. The battery situation was an issue back in January and February. Not March/April. People seriously need to wake up. Power Management as it stands now can get you through a whole work day without needing to be on charge. I think we should focus more on ironing out bugs, cleaning up code, and adding more functionality. Sorry for the wall of text.. :S It just makes me so angry. Grr. Haha.

Grr. Haha.

I wish I was experiencing the same battery life that you are. Are you running the extended battery?
I'm not experiencing near the drain with my Energy ROM 23554 with sense 2.5, which I'm running with the Gen.Y dualboot app. Truth is, the Fuze's battery sucks balls to begin with, and my battery is getting a bit on the old side, so of course both of the OS's drain more than I'd like, but even with BT and WiFi on all day on the WinMo, and disabled in Android, the life is significantly longer on the WinMo side. Unfortunately, I spend a decent amount of time on the phone while I'm commuting or driving, and I refuse to do it without bluetooth, so I have to run WinMo when I'm in the car.
Yesterday with WiFi and BT turned off, and all tasks killed with the task killer, I lost 50% of my battery in standby over about 3.5 hours, but I really haven't let it sleep in Android longer than that....
Thing is, I can't really make an educated comparison between standby battery consumption on the Android side vs WinMo. With all the apps and "new" stuff (this is my first good Android build on any phone), I'm constantly using the phone when it's in Android mode. It almost never gets to see standby time LOL.... However, while under normal load, the Android build does seem to me to be quite a bit thirstier.... The fact is, it's amazing we're even at the point we're at now, and we should be thankful that the power consumption is ONLY at the level it's at now. It could be much worse. These guys have done a killer job.
Any sort of complaining right now is done out of ignorance for how difficult these kinds of issues are to solve. This isn't an 8th grade Home Ec project (although sewing that pillow in the shape of an inline skate was pretty hard too).

Whichever battery comes with the Fuze, man . I just overclocked my phone to 633mhz today, so.. let's see how that goes.

Huh.. I don't use the build with the Sense UI. Though, from my experience, Windows Mobile wiped my battery out in 8 hours of extensive texting, which is how I use my phone these days as well. :S.

I suggest lowering the brightness a bit and maybe the screen time out as well?

Haha, it's all good man. Maybe my battery is in better shape than yours. I would LOVE to have the extended battery, though.
I can never get the sense ui package to work! Either the touchscreen does not work or it stays at the boot screens and keeps going over and over with them!

[Q] Windows Phone 7 - What's all the crying for?

Last week i placed an order for an HTC HD7 - yes! yes! despite it having supposedly a sub-par quality display and all - but while visiting a local shop here in Pakistan, i was surprised to find none other than the HTC Mozart. The box was packed and he wouldn't open it for me to see the device till i put some cash on the counter and committed to purchase... So i was definitely a little bit hesitant. I searched around the entire market in Lahore and surprisingly no one else had any Windows Phone 7 devices in stock, and then my heart raced at the idea of getting a new device right then rather than wait 2 weeks for it to get delivered and thus i ended up buying the Mozart and canceled my order of the HD7...
It has been over 3 days now since i bought it and i'm completely in love with the system! (Might i add, the display on the Mozart is STUNNING!) Everything was smooth... from the first boot to initial setup to syncing with Zune and all. Even my outlook and facebook contacts played nice with each other and linked together perfectly for the most part. But of course i dreaded problems in the Operating System as i've been reading from other users... When i purchased the phone, i braced myself for application crashes, device hangups, unresponsiveness, connectivity issues, and more..
But surprisingly... I haven't had a single application crash yet! Well, if you don't count this one time when one of the HTC applications crashed while loading up but when started again, it let me in without any problem - i.e. i didn't have to restart. Actually, it's been close to 2 days now since i restarted the phone and in that time i've installed new games and applications and tested them out, responded to dozens of emails, connected with facebook, and a lot more... (the only time i restarted it the first time was when i had set up all accounts and everything else... kind of an old habit i guess carried over from Windows Mobile )
So i'm confused when i read about application crashes, and unresponsive UI, and what not. Sure there are times a game might take a tad bit longer than usual to load up (but honestly, even 'The Harvest' loads up pretty quick on the Mozart) or when you tap on an item in the menu, it doesn't register so you have to top it again... but overall, the RTM of Windows Phone 7 seems to be quite a stable build!
Before i decided to move to Windows Phone 7, i read dozens and dozens of reviews of the software and devices... the best one was by Paul Thurrott (h ttp://www.winsupersite.com/mobile/wp7.asp) who sums it up as follows (excerpt only): "Windows Phone 7 is a game changer, for both Microsoft and the broader smart phone industry. But for the short term, you need to know going in that Windows Phone is beautiful but flawed." The thing i really liked about his review is that he praises the system openly but also bashes it for every single problem and shortcoming in the system... If you haven't read it yet, do so now... I promise you that you won't find a better review than this.
I agree with him... There are flaws here and there and definitely some functionality that we would have liked to see, but give it a break guys... this is version 1.0! And from the looks of it, it looks like Microsoft is gearing up for an update that'll not only include Copy-Paste but other functions and fixes.. and unlike some systems, we won't have to wait a whole year for updates...
Sure i've had to tap more than once to open something, or my biggest problem was with it adding a '/' character when i hit the enter key while in landscape (this happened only once, i switched to portrait and went back to landscape and it was fixed)
The biggest problem that i have with my new Windows Phone 7 device? I hate that i can't change tracks using the provided handsfree... and from what i'm hearing, it's probably not supported in v1. Maybe whoever told me that is wrong and someone here know why i can't get it to work? Not much phone taking our the phone everytime i want to change the track while running on the treadmill... But other than that... i LOVE my phone and i LOOOOOOOOOOVE Windows Phone 7...
How about you?
Regards.
Salman Khalid.
congrats on the purchase. how much did it cost in local currency?
It cost me Rs. 60,000/- for the device... which is close to $700... I know it's expensive compared to what its being sold for at various sites like Expansys and Clove, but it was totally worth clearing out my wallet for...
So it wasn't service locked? The only WP7 device that I've heard of that isn't locked to a service provider is the dell venue pro

Nope... it was unlocked. It's branded Orange and has their software on it too, but completely unlocked...
I'm wondering if i do a hard-reset, not that i need to, would it lock it by any chance?
Another day gone by and another day's great experience...
One other thing that i don't like that much is the battery... I mean, it gets me through most part of the day but i expected it to be better. Perhaps the fast drain is due to my high usage along with Bluetooth and Wifi continuously turned on and Exchange email hooked up and all...?

Once your phone is unlocked, it's unlocked for good. You can do a hard-reset with no problems. Battery will get better day by day don't worry. It takes a full month for the battery to learn your charge/discharge habbits. You want to discharge your phone battery as much as you can before you put it for charge again to increase battery life.

Yeah buying them unlocked is always good if you have the money as its always better than being locked in a contract with a carrier.

At&t Samsung Galaxy S3 Overheat, Wi-Fi, and Battery Issues

I've noticed a few issues with my device.
1. Overheating
-The device overheats when I surf the web (using 3G/4G antenna), run graphic intense applications, or play music for prolonged periods. Also, when I have the charger plugged while using it, the device becomes Extremely HOT.
2. Wi-Fi
-The WiFi connection keeps cutting off when I am well within my WiFi range. During the WiFi tests, I have the device sitting next to other smartphones and the GS3 drops the connection once or twice at least.
3. Battery
-I unplug the device from the charger at 8:00am (at 100% charge), and plug it back onto the charger again at 6:00pm (at 12-15% charge).
I am not a heavy user, but I do check Facebook, Emails, Google Chat, 1 or 2 YouTube (HD) videos, and 4-8 Text Messages per day.
I would consider myself to be between a light - moderate User.
Are you experiencing any of these issues as well?
(I sent an email to Samsung's Office of the President in New Jersey 2 days ago. Yesterday, I received a call from a very friendly and helpful gentleman from Samsung. Today I got a call from my wife, telling me that a brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 arrived to my door.)
If you need the email address for Samsung's Office of the President, please don't hesitate to ask. I will check back later. Thanks.
Yes to battery and overheating. Try my ROM and turn on Power saving - both issues are gone.
WiFi helped by rebooting router.

I'm having similar issues. Strange battery life. Sometimes it seems ok but other times it drains like crazy for no good reason. Wifi sometimes goes into a disconnect/reconnect cycle.
And yes, I'd love to have that email address. Polite and well written emails to the right places can often work wonders. Thanks!
I too would love that contact information. I got mine just last week after using a Captivate for two years, Gets so hot at times i take it out of my pocket because it's uncomfortable! With a 2100 mAH battery I would have expected better battery life, which was part of the reason I got this device!
i would appreciate that email address. thx will be in order.
if i could get that email as well i would be very grateful. my phone seems laggy at times and everytime i plug it into the charger about 5-10 mins later a message pops up saying charging paused phone battery temp to high and it drives me crazy because i have to leave my phone off the charger and im afraid that my phone might die and alarm wont go off in the morning .

Hey Guys,
Word of advice before you send Samsung an email. Make sure you don't threaten or use profanity. I wrote a simple yet direct email requesting assistance. I myself would not respond to an email that includes threats or profanity... Good Luck !

hrmm....well, looks like you got better customer service than I did. I got an email back which basically said if it's broken I can either send it to them for an evaluation or if it's within the return period I can try to take it back. They didn't seem interested in my mentioning that the problems I'm having are being widely reported by a lot of people.

BTW, I did reply to them again and asked them to please look into it further. They reiterated what they told me earlier. Basically, it's not a known issue, they've forwarded the info I gave them to someone else but they can't say whether it will ever be fixed or even researched.
I had also asked them if they could provide me with a contact at ATT who deals with Samsung tech issues and they declined to provide me with any such info. They said if I wanted to I could contact my local service provider and if I was within my exchange period I should talk to them about exchanging the phone.
Basically, they don't seem to have a clue and didn't seem too interested in getting a clue. As someone who works in IT, I found this a little disappointing.

I'm assuming what is happening here is Samsung is pulling the Apple stunt with the (iPhone 4)antenna issue. They will try to deny it at first, then once it has become public, they will acknowledge that there is a known issue and will provide a solution. Hopefully, they don't provide us with fireproof gloves as a complimentary gift.

Yeah, I had hoped Samsung would be different than Apple but they're probably the same. If there's a problem, deny, deny, and deny until forced to admit it by firing squad. And then only admit it grudgingly and make up all sorts of excuses.
It's a nice phone but I guess Samsung as a company sucks just as bad as Apple and doesn't really give a flying frig about their customers or about acknowledging and resolving defects and problems as long as they are selling enough product to turn a profit.
OK this sucks.
Years ago, I got the Iphone 4 and you had to put a cover on it because of the antenna issue.
I get the S3 and to protect it, i get a cover and within no time, after putting it on the phone, the phone overheats, locks up, lags,
If i am charging it, it locks up. I was driving shortly after i put the case on, and it kept making noise but i was driving so i couldnt look at the phone. then once i got home. i noticed it locking up and really warm, bottom right hand corner.
This really sucks as i love the phone but I do know, overheating like this is not good for electronics and will lessen their lifespan.
anyone else having cover issues?
Thinking about buying the SIII
Have you noticed differences between SII and SIII battert autonomy?
The SIII gives more performance but does the battery keeps its durability?
if you have had both phones, what differences have you noticed?
I want to compare the SIII with other phones but not benchmarks but user experiences

Mine gets a little warm when I'm using it with certain apps but never while it's in standby mode. I did also notice that the standby time seems to only drain the battery at about 1% per hour. Sometimes after I've been using it, the battery continues to drain like I'm using the phone when it's in standby. I'm anal about closing/killing apps when not in use too.

Well it seems my heat issues are normal from what everyone is saying here. Would everyone say this is the hottest phone anyone as ever owned? The closest thing for me is an S2 and that got hit only while gaming. Surfing the Web was fine. This phone feels hot in 5 minutes of surfing on wifi. That just seems crazy.

OGP any known issues?

Now that the phone has been out for about half a year (1 month in the US), have any annoying/troubling issues been found?
For example, I was told by a manager at AT&T that some people who have the HTC One are complaining that the phone literally gets too hot to hold after "extended" video recording. They've only seen it with a few phones (owned by their salespeople), but it's been reported...
I've read both great and horrible reviews about the camera on the OGP, and I'm wondering if maybe LG is sourcing components from various vendors [something akin to TV manufacturers using display panels made by various manufacturers in models with the identical model number (AKA "the panel lottery")]. If that's correct, then maybe you get a good one and maybe you don't...but that's what I'm trying to find out.
I've read a few reviews/postings that some people had issues with battery life which turned out to be bad batteries. Anyone have that?
So, with that said, is there anything that seems to be out of sorts with the OGP?
The only issue I can find is the Wifi is junk.

Care to elaborate? I've not noticed any issues with mine.
It connects fine to both my routers, but will not sustain a stable data stream. It also seems far slower than it should be. Speedtest.net app runs about 2-3Mbps.
Sometimes, the test won't even complete, the Wifi will disconnect and reconnect.
It transfers fine for about 5 seconds or so. I just tried watching a free video on Google Play, and every 5 seconds the stream stalled. Web pages take forever to load, and forget about downloading a big app.
I guess I'll have to call AT&T, or visit a store. I paid full retail for this thing.
Edit: My routers are both a little bit older, a Belkin F5D7230-4 WirelessG and a Netgear WGR614V9, but I've never had this type of issue with any other device.
Edit2: I rebooted everything in sight, including (but not limited to) my routers, my cable modem, my switches, my WHS and the OG Pro. Seems to be more stable now, but still a little slow, around 2Mbps downstream.
There's only two issues with the thing, it's too good, and it's only on AT&T.
Seriously, there are a few niggling things.
1. The QSlide bar takes up too much space in the notification shade. Luckily, once you root, there's a fix around here somewhere for it.
2. The side buttons are very VERY shallow, to the point where even if you put on a SKIN the buttons are hard to feel and even get to. Still figuring out what to do about that one.
3. Not enough accessories. This is a very real consequence of it only being available on AT&T here, it's just not going to be as popular with the accessory makers as the Galaxy S4 and HTC One, which are pretty much available on every carrier.

It blasts my ears off with headphones, but I can easily crank my head unit to max and it's not anywhere near as loud of my NoteII was. I should be able to compensate by adjusting my gains, though.
Clipped voice commands in navigation
I read in another thread that at least 2 users were having issues with the voice commands during navigation. Their issue is that when the OGP speaks a navigation command, the audio stops in mid sentence. The last few words (or parts of the words) are clipped off. Example: instead of "turn left in 4 miles", they are getting, "turn left in 4 m", or instead of "proceed through the roundabout", they get "proceed through the roun".
Is anyone else having this issue? I'd be curious also if your phone is not having the issue.
My email client crashes every time I try to open an email. Used to work. Tried clearing data still crashes. Only problem so far.

Wonder if it's just my particular unit somehow. Now I'll have to research adjustments that could make a difference.
Thanks.

It could also be your headphones. I'm using a pair of Samsung OEM S3/NoteII headphones (all the controls work correctly).
When I mentioned adjustments, I meant to the amps in my truck, where 90% of my listening takes place.
I posted above about some users getting clipped voice instructions with navigation. I have not tried that yet but i found another voice issue. I don't know if it is due to an app or the phone. Using an NFC app (NFC Task Launcher), i have it set to read the time aloud when i tap an NFC tag to set my alarm. When it reads the time, it clips off the minutes and only reads the hours. For example, if i set the time for 11:30, all it says is "eleven", and cuts off the "thirty". Anyone else having voice issues?
Only actual issue I have is with the search feature in the contacts. When typing a name, it seems to reset or clear out the search field when you type more than 3 characters.
Anyone else seeing this?
Other than that, I love this phone. (I don't consider the slow progress on unlocking the bootloader to be an issue. The DEVs will crack this thing shortly. (They do have lives.)

This phone is so far so good. The only thing I find uncomfortable is that when you exit your favorites tab from your phone app either by back or home button, and then when you hit phone again, it always brings you to the dial tab. It's kinda annoying since I never had that happen to me before on other phones.
