Option 1: Put your PDA in bootloader mode [Visit this link to find out how: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets] and flash a new ROM.
Option 2: Flash a new ROM from the SD Card [Visit this link to find out how: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing].
Note: If you have read the wiki you would have foub how to do it...
Cheers.

wow fast response, thank you. I will try the sd card option as I cannot go to bootload mode, all I have is this beta screen.

You cannot go to bootloader mode? Howcome? Why can't you do it? Have yu read the link i posted befre to see how you should do it? This is very simple... Just press OK+POWER and while pressing it stick the stylus on the soft reset hole and then release the buttons... Intead of choosing the SD Card flash you sould try the other process first... If you can flash normally why use another method...?
Well, that's up o you. Both methods are functional
Cheers.

ahh so sorry, silly me. the reset button not a reset option on screen, jeez one day I will get my head around this... thanks again

Ah, one day you may spend a little time and read some of the WIKI.

I did spend time reading the wiki but as this is my first effort it is mostly gobbledygook to me, we all have to start somewhere..... thank you once again for the much needed help.

Kevlar-Source, whats wrong with using the sd card method? Its a helluva lot safer than flashing via pc. No chance of jail sentence because a "cleanaholic" accidently pressed the reset button while wiping over the front of your wire mesh fronted screnn with a wet soapy clothe because, and I quote, "It looked dirty". Justifiable homicide if you ask me.....
Oh well at least the power didn't go o

You really have a lot of reading to do. So much that we cannot post it all here. It has taken an entire forum for all of the information. You need to start here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Get familiar with what you can do. First thing you are going to want to do is update the boot loader so you don't brick your device. Read here for more information:

Do not "just install" ... ideally read the wiki first, and then follow instructions on Mrvanx's Guide. Upgrading is pretty painless and easy ... and the guide should keep you on track.
A ha ,i knew there would be more to it than that, not sure what a wiki is lol but looks like im gonna find out.
If someone could just give me a list of things to do before hand ill do the appropriate reading
i.e 1 upgrade the boot loader etc etc ,please dont go into detail a mere shopping list will do.
,thanks for the links by the way.
Best wishes tony

Here is the list you wanted:
Read the wiki
Read the installation guides.
Read the threads concerning the threads on available roms.
Understand what you have read.
Flash your phone.
Here you go... step by step list of everything you need to do to upgrade to the Black 3.0:

My subjective pick is Black 3.01 ...
Remember to go "Hard SPL" first, and that you need to upgrade your radio seperately.
Right just updated the Hard splv7 and my radio to 1.41.00.10,ive also flashed with black 3.0. Now i cant seem to get a wireless link to work or turn on my bluetooth?
Also does this mean i can flash any cooked rom?
Many thanks Tony
Update: it just needed a reboot and all was well.
Getting back to the above question-can i flash with any coocked rom now?
Thanks for all your help.Tony

generally speaking, yes.... but be sure you are flashing OS only (unless you want to upgrade your radio too). Most folks are putting out OS only upgrades now, but some replace the radio. once you are hard spl and no longer a flashing virgin, it becomes second nature.
Thanks for everyones help, all sorted, nice one!

Question on flahs rom with Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex

Hey guys,
I was using Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex to flash b4 installing the new rom. it is showing 100% done and my phone reset, and all look fine...
however when entering bootloader screen it is showing me the version as 1.34.00 (sth like this), and check from the rom in the setting of the phone..it is still 1.34.xx (the original rom).
I was following the steps from some posts in the forums...but still the same..
Can anyone please help? sorry i am a newbie to pda phone...
Thanks again guys
can you follow the steps here exactly and let me know the result?
hard-spl upgrade guide
I have a similar problem. When i made HARD SPL everything is ok, but when i try to make a ROM update there is an error massage on the screen. I tried with 2 or 3 ROMs and always the same ****... I downloaded the official one and it's the same... I made printscreen here it is ---> http://img29.picoodle.com/img/img29/4/7/2/f_gggm_0346e0b.jpg any ideas ?
maybe you installed the rom using sspl and hard spl did not install when you tried to install it. Not sure if this is possible.
Let check the Hard-SPL installed:
press volume down and soft reset (small red button) together and keep until comes out the 3 colored band in the screen, read the Hard-SPL version, it must be 1.40.
Let us know, ciao.
that's the windows error message saying it needs to close.. what's the error message the RUU gives.. it should have a number, or description of what happened. sure your download is not simply corrupt?
Well I have downloaded it 3 times already and every time i tried to make ROM update after HARD SPL my device cannot make upgrade and this error massage is on the screen.. I made soft reset after HARD SPL and there was no 3, but 4 colors on my screen...I thought that I ****ed up the phone, but for my luck I'm not hehe. BUT The f***in version is the same:
ROM version: 1.34.831.1 WWE. ROM date: 05/25/08. Radio version: 0.93.25.NS16. Protocol Version: 52.24.25.08H.
Please help, I don't know WTF!?!? That version is just NO COMMENT!
Thanks...
yeah can you please state the exact error message that comes up?
also, can you confirm you have Hard-SPL on your device.. if so, which version? (signed or unsigned)

Yea after i followed the steps it is working all fine for me. I think my original problem is the way to enter boot loader screen, but then during the flash of the signed rom (1.37.456.2) i found that the version for boot loader is SPL-1.40.OliNex .
Now all is working fine, thx guys!!!
1 more question, if i have the hard spl installed, flashed a new rom. What should i do if i wanna flash another rom? (let say, after RUU-1.37.456.2 i wanna flash 1.37.401.3). Should i sspl and hardspl and install the new rom? Or i just simply install the new rom without hardspl again?
Thanks again!!
no, hard-spl is 'permanent' on your device unless you manually revert to stock SPL or something..
just flash another ROM without flashing Hard-SPL again

Could you please stop flashing your site all the way here? Here at XDA there is a lot of info how to flash your phone, it is not needed to flash your site all the time here. One time is enough.
i'm not 'flashing' my site.. if one time was enough he would have already gone through the guide. i didn't even MENTION the site, either, simply gave him a link to the guide. if you take time to read the thread you'll find that it actually helped him get hard-spl on his diamond which is why the site was created so we can minimize these kind of questions and threads in the forums.. if you spent more time actually helping people instead of writing ridiculous posts like this maybe we'd have a cleaner and more productive forum

@djsky123, take some time to read through the threads in this forum and familiarise yourself with the ROMs currently alive....CRCs, PDAcorner and MRH seem to be the current ROMs in progress..
I think CRC's ROM is probably the best in existence...
I might have a little bit of bias though
Seriously though, have a read through what is included on the ROMs and see what fits your personal tastes...
Just make sure you flash your device with HardSPL first to prevent future tears...

Dear Ian,
I cannot tell which ROM to flash because it depends on MANY things... Nevertheless i can tell you a few things thay will help you...
1. Read the Flashers BIBLE i.e. the WIKI.
2. Never, but NEVER mess or tamper with our PDA unless you are sure of what you'r doing BEFORE you do it. If your are not sure ask before.
3. Never pay attention to flames or stupid answers. You will get quite a few over here...
4. I was oncve a noob and i know how it feels to e stepingon muddy watters.
5. If you feel you get no positive answer to your questions, PM me at will and i will try to help.
Cheers, welcoe and good luck
no you need to run an unlocker not flash the radio you can get the unlocker for the hermes from here if its a g3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
first of all do Hardspl, this will unlock your device too.
remember - when you flash any official rom you automaticaly erase hardspl. suggest you to try some pdaviet roms, for noob they are very nice. but if you need stability - try pda corner e.t.c. by the way - Im using spv too

HardSLP: In ever ROM Announcment the cooker also mentions a few words about the HardSLP.
What does a rom do?
You can compare it with a complete new-installation an a pc.
Will this and that be removed?
For Sure, everything which is not on the internal storage will be erased!

Please help spread the word about this video and help it get pinned if possible! This new Android ROM is huge and there are no good video tutorials on it yet. I put hours into this tutorial and it will help a lot of people get a better understanding!
IMPORTANT!! Please use this Video Tutorial ALONG with the written guide *HERE* as following just the Video Tutorial may lead you to miss parts of the process that could cause problems later.
If you are having any problems installing MAGLDR or the NAND ROM the fixes for them can be found by clicking here!
MOD EDIT:: Embedded YouTube video fixed!!

If you want to get back to windows mobile hold down the power and volume bottom. You will see the colors screen. Then you can enter back into windows mobile, by putting a windows rom on your phone.
I will be updating information about battery life as well
I took the phone off the charger this mourning at 8:30 AM (PST) it is now 11:00 AM and I still have a full battery gauge.
It has now been 7 hours and I still have 75% battery life, I think its putting out a lot better then the SD version.
After a total of 18 hours and 47 minutes my phone finally died and lost all battery power, it had a good first run, I used it frequently also, I like the battery power!

Awesome! Many people are finding it helpful! Please spread the word about the video if possible, as soon as I there were no good tutorials I knew I had to post one.

Hey!
very helpful vid, thx man.
Only thing missing is a comment regarding the needed hspl version (>2.08) and radio version (radio that enables the 576 ram). Maybe just add it in the description.

For any of those wondering, to check the HardSPL, it displays in the bottom corner when you boot your phone, I have been getting that question a lot and just want to let you guys know!

Correction, the hspl (or even spl version) DOESN"T show when you boot your phone. The only way to see it is to boot into bootloader mode.

Not to sure what you mean by that? I'm pretty sure I explained it in the video, it has been working for others.
I want to thank mskip for adding the tutorial to his post!
Video is over 3,000 views! Thanks everybody! I think it's starting to get noticed more and more.
Thank you for the PM's everybody! Keep them coming!
Am sorry, but can you make another tutorial or even some steps about flashing back to WinMo, in case someone messed thing up?
You do it the same exact way you flash the android ROM, you need to hold the power button to enter MAGLDR and then go into the "USB Flasher" once you have done that you can download any WinMo rom and install it back on your phone! Nothing to it.
