Flash does not start: "Device not responding" with SpeedUP TOR ROM - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Hi,
I need your help please. I flashed the my Diamond with SpeedUP TOR ROM V2 GER. Now I would like to flash again, because I have some issues with Wlan.
But everytime I try to flash the updater hangs at:
"Checking informations on your pda phone. Please wait ..."
After 30-60sec I get the error [224]:
"Device not responding:
The update utility cannot get response from your PDA phone. Please check that your USB cradle/cable is connected properly between the PC and your PDA phone. And also check your PDA Phone"
ActiveSync and browsing through the folders in my diamond are working. Anybody any idea?
Regards Benjamin

Reset the diamond with volume down key pressed. You come in the bootloader screen. At the bottom you should see USB. If you see SERIAL, then there is no connection with your pc, plug off your cable and replug it again till you see USB.
Give your pc a little time to detect device and install drivers, then flash.

did you hard-spl your device first?

USB Device Not Recognised on Bootloader

I have a problem. My Exec is stuck on the bootloader screen. All I see is Serial at the top, and v1.00 at the bottom.
When I connect my exec via USB, the screen continues to say Serial (rather than switching to USB) and the PC I connect to 'installs' the device as 'unknown device' in device manager.
I've seen mention of the problem elsewhere on the site, but the only solution I can find seems to be to keep trying, and eventually it's recognised. So far, after three days of trying, it has not been recognised.
I am aware of Buzz tool to get the device out of bootloader mode, but that required a connection to be established, which at the moment, I can't do.
Has anyone got any experience of this, or any ideas as to what's causing this, or how this can be fixed? I have tried uninstalling the 'unknown device' from device manger, restarting the PC (and hard reset of the Exec) then reconnecting, but the same thing happens every time.
Any ideas would be appreciated, as I'm currently staring at a rather expensive paper weight.
Try this it shld work

This is based on my experience with two UNis..one Exec and other JASJAR..both had same problem...this is how I solved :
-Put yr device in bootloader Mode
-Disable USB in Active Sync
-Now connect woth USB cable and open mtty utility
-Select the "WESUSB... " port
-You shall see a blank white screen..press Enter to get "USB>"
-Then type ( as BUzz has informed) set 14 0
(here I wud like to inform that after doing the above I did not get success so I typed set 14 10,then set 14 9 for two three times)
-Then I ran the ROM Upgrade directly(After enbabling the USB)
-I then followed the procedure as informed on the COngratulations Screen that is hold the two "-" buttons and soft reset and then pressed 0
-I got them back to normal..
I hope this helps to all my friends...Pls feel free..pls do not trouble our Buzz..he might be busy in inventing something more to our devices

Try it with a different USB cable or in a different USB port (don't go through a hub and if you've been using a laptop then try it on a desktop PC since some laptops have hubs built into them). If that doesn't work then you're out of luck as your Universal isn't detecting that you've connected to your PC and its time to send it in for repair.
Thanks Niketkumar - unfortunately it's the step before your suggestion kicks in thats the problem - the device won't connect to the PC, so when using mtty WESUSB..... isn't an option, only COM1 and COM2.
Shuflie, I've tried with three separate USB cables on a laptop and desktop (neither through a hub, and the same device has worked fine on both laptop and desktop before).
I fear a trip to the doctors is in order ...
Very frustrating because the PC sees a device, but installs it as unknown device. Anyone know if theres a Windows CE device driver that I could try and install as an overide (i.e. in device manager on the PC go to update driver and browse to a WinCE.inf or equivalent?)
Failing this, has anyone got any clue what needs to be fixed? Or how much it might cost?
i am stuck on the same problem and wondering the forum for almost 3 days now with no luck.... please help my device is in boot loader mood but not turning the serial to USB ......... please HELP.......

Please follow the steps:
1. Plug in ur usb cable in bootloader mode while it is showing 'serial' and version 'x.xx'.
2. Soft reset by pressing Backlight+power+reset pin WHILE KEEPING THE USB CABLE CONNECTED
3. your phone will now reboot into 'usb' mode. Don't remove the usb cable yet.
4. Remove the Memory card while keeping the usb cable still connected and VOILA,your pc starts recognising your phone as Microsoft usb sync.
5. Do whatever you want to do now (upgrade)
Hope it solves the problem now.
Press thanks if it does.
Something else to try
Having had a few issues with my G3 Uni, I've been through my fare share of Uni bootloader issues. When I find that I can't get the 'serial' to go to 'USB', I normally find it's because I haven't taken the memory card or the SIM card out (usually the memory card).
Make sure your memory card is out, then try to enter the bootloader and see if this cures it. If it does, then use mtty and the command 'set 14 0'
This tells it to reboot on reset. if you were to use 'set 14 1' it would go back to the bootloader on reset.

02 universal stuck in bootloader, cant fix.

I just got this thing and wanted to upgrade to WM6, i downloaded a new crossbow for the device and started to flash it following the instructions included with the upgrade. a little way thru the flash i got a connection error and now the device is stuck in bootloader. I tried the program to recover from stuck bootloader but on the drop down menu there is no USB option, all COMs only. But oddly enough the bootloader does say USB when plugged in.
I am running Vista which came with my new pc and I am hating it lately.
Please someone help me out, i dont really know what to do now. I really want this thing fixed and properly flashed to WM6.
thanks, Noob
hi
does the PC recognizes the PDA?
if when you connect your pda to your pc (with removed sd card) you see"usb" (on screen) it does
ihave problems like you (vista notebook,no usb on mtty......) but i can fix them
first download:http://www.wikifortio.com/141334/mtty.exe.zip (not from wiki)
(it has usb port for mee)
then
1. Take out the SD and SIM cards
2. Opened ActiveSync and go to file, connection setting and Un-check "Allow USB Connections". Then press Ok and close ActiveSync
3. Put in bootloader mode (Power + Light + reset) which brings up the "un-backlit" screen with "Serial" at the top and v0.XX at the bottom
4. Plug in USB cable DIRECTLY from PC to Jasjar (MAKE SURE NOT TO USE A USB HUB). You MIGHT then see a warning window complaining that an "Unsigned" device driver is being attempted to be installed. You will be prompted to either "STOP INSTALLATION" or "CONTINUE ANYWAY" - this warning can be safely ignored and so just click on "CONTINUE ANYWAY".
5. Open mtty utility / software
6. Select USB from the "Port" drop-down on the upper left corner of the dialog box and hit OK
7. Then another screen will come up. Hit enter and that will show "USB>"
8. Type "set 14 0" and hit enter. You will see some jibberish on the mtty utility which will again be suffixed by "USB>". Your HTC Universal will not seem to have done anything and should still indicate "USB" at the top, and "v2.01" (or equivalent) at the bottom. You can now close the mtty utility.
9. On the Desktop PC unplug the USB cable and re-plug it into the exact same USB port again. From this point onwards, you must use this exact same USB port to flash the ROMs of your Universal because failure to do so will most proably result in "Connection Errors" at the beginning of the flashing process when the RUU attempts to establish communication with your Universal. After re-pluging into the USB port, you can then run the ROM update JASJAR_WWE_13076_164_10900_wwe_ship.exe (or latest version)
9,1.if you can't upgrade your rom on vista see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723&highlight=ruu+vista
i recommend you for first time upgrade your rom with"Beasty & Laurentius 2.09.01"
by me:right click on each ruu that you want to use go to properties intop bar
goto compatibility's tab in compatibility mode tik the run this program in...... checkbox then select"windows xp service pak 2"
10. It will go through the upgrade process with the 3 steps and "completed successfully" on the PC
11. Picture 1 below shows what the screen looked like after step 6 after disconnecting the USB cable, as 100% complete
for picture goto

i780 ROM flashing problem

When I try to flash a new ROM using the Mirage updater, after I connect the phone to the usb cable, Mirage show me the message " PDA Device not found". I have installed all samsung modem drivers, i have no firewall or antivirus program and still does not work to flash a new ROM. This behaviour appeared after I flashed the i780_DXHC4_Rev12 ROM. If anybody had this problem, please advice me what to do next. thanks
no experts here?
no this happen. Are you using XP?
First and only time when I succeded to flash the ROM (DXHC4 version), it was on win2k3 standard..Since then, I have tried to flash the ROM on various OS ( vista, xp, win2k3, win2k8..) with the same result each time: "PDA Device not found"...
Make sure to connect the phone to the USB cable when the phone is completely OFF. (take out battery and put it back in)
with the turned out phone connected to the cable, press DETECT,
and only then power up your phone.
I know some instructions tell you to go into bootloader mode, but I found that this is enough to successfully flash my device.
Make sure you run on XP and not on Vista.
Hope this helps.
thank you for your advice..unfortunately, it does not work also..after I press Detect and turn on the phone, Mirage send me the same message: "PDA Device not found"...if you can help me with other instructions, i would appreciate

Does your device succeed in connecting to the computer using ActiveSync?
Try disabling ActiveSync USB connection or altogether.
If you only want to install the PDA part try removing the USB modem drivers,
you don't need them for PDA only.
Try a different USB port maybe, Or maybe another cable.
I'm at a loss here...
Hi on this forum too!
You need to already have an active activesync relationship with the device.
I can make file transfer and PC sync with the phone.
I tried every USB port to flash the phone. But nothing works, only 'PDA Device not found' message. I think there is no solution for this problem...

u have to load the modem driver which is for i600... i had the same issue but as soon as u load the modem driver it works fine..
and u have to take out the batt and put back the batt then hold enter and Fn button while u press the power button.. and hold till the device is booted in emergency mode... then connect your USB cable..
nothing works...
Try to update your usb drivers...
gOOndu is right you must have the correct USB driver to recognize your phone. This is not the modem driver. You can test this by disabling Active sync USB connections and plugin your phone. If it has the right driver it should state hardware found (name of your device) and then hardware installed and ready for use. If you get a hardware not recognized then the driver is not correct.
Hope this helps you.
The problem is not with the OS drivers, which recognizes my hardware device. Also, I am able to make transfers from the device to the desktop and viceversa. The problem is with the Mirrage Updater, after I press Detect and plug in the device, it can not see my pda anymore ( PDA Device not found message). The only time when I was able to flash my device ( with Mirrage) was when I upgraded to DXHC4 version. Since then, Mirrage can not find my pda anymore, altough I use the same (operating) system as when I succesfully flashed DXHC4...

Hi guys,
I am trying to flash a ROM following the steps in the first post of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388067 . I tried on Windows XP, Vista, 7 without any positive results. I installed the Samsung i600 drivers, started mirage, loaded the bin file in the PDA section, pressed detect, started the device using Fn+Enter+ON key, but mirage kept saying "PDA device not found". I tried the above steps in different orders,no luck whatsoever. I have the following 2 questions:
1. booting the phone in DETECT mode means that you get the message "Emergency mode - You must push Detect BUtton of the download application befor you connect the usb port".
2. Do you have another STEP-BY-STEP guide on how to do this? Or is there another tool besides Mirage (which in my opinion is quite old)?
Thanks a million.
Which USB connection do you use? Front panel? Use one which is connected directly to the mainboard (on the back).
There is an i780 flashing guide available. I cannot find (or post) the direct link but it acknowledges this original post.
I spent several hours at the weekend trying to find a way of flashing my phone including installing virtual PC, etc, etc.
Eventually I found this to my relief and it worked for me in Win7:

I think that I need the corect ROM that I had before "this situation".. Can someone find me a ROM v2.01? Or tell me what to do!?
You are in bootloader mode with USB showing on the top and bootloader version on the bottom. Just connect to your computer and flash another ROM.
The numbers on the bottom are NOT version of the ROM, but a bootloader, just try different ROMs or try shipped ROM for your device, or better still READ WIKI.

Hey Enigma your 500th post LOL ...
and EMO_Raver as you said when you connect your device to computer there is usb onthe top and v2.01 in bottom so it means you have G4 device and you can flash a uni rom G4 one....see instruction in first post by Orb3000...
I was trying to flashi it, but even my PC finds Qtek as new device, when I want to chose "USB" in "port" menu (in mtty), there is only com1, com2 and com3! There is NO "USB", so I cannot flash it!
And when I just click on the "new ROM" icon that I dowonloaded here I always get: ERROR 101 - CONNECTION ERROR
Pleace Check:
1. Your device is properly connected to the USB cable or cradle (of corse it is, my PC founds it as new device)
2. Your USB cable or cradle is properly connected on PC (same as in first, cable is 100% connected)
3. Your device is turned on (it's in booter mode, USB on top and v2.01 on bottom)
So, what is the problem. Someone told me that my softwere died, so I need to "feed" my Qtek with new software, new ROM. Is that a problem? How to do it? HOW TO START MY PHONE AGAIN?
I need help! Asap!

Now if I do the above it comes up saying no image found then says trigger usb host and red flash saying usb retry enter usb. Have I meesed my phone up or is there a way to get the image back any help will be welcomed. I can still connect via mtty but the device doesn't come up in my computer anymore or wont connect via active sync.

dont worry .. nothing is lost
bring up the phone in bootloader .. vol down reset
connect the usb cable, on screen should write USB (instead of serial)
and now just run the customRUU.exe file that is usualy in archive you downloaded the rom, and just follow the instruciotions.
(like you are flashing without mtty! from computer)

yes..youre right..i did the same thing, after i've mtty (after type task 8), i forgot to initiate ROM flash and did hard reset+clear memory, so the image (diamimg.nbh) in movinand memory is erased.
So, we still can flash with custom RUU. bring your device in bootloader, you will see serial mode change into usb, then execute custom RUU.exe. follow the instruction.. but make sure your battery is enough..
Hope it help you..
