RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.10.671.1_RS3.42.30_NV2 .02_PRL30031_SHIP.exe - Touch CDMA Windows Mobile ROM Development

Official Alltel 6.1 ROM, flash at your own criteria, not responsible for blah blah blah...
http://member.america.htc.com/downl...3.10.671.1_RS3.42.30_NV2.02_PRL30031_SHIP.exe
This ROM is GPS capable, has threaded MMS and SMS.

Would there be any problems using this with a USCC(US Cellular) Touch?
And could I edit the bootscreen?

I find it interesting that Altell chose to stick with the 3.42.30 radio, even though 3.42.50 is available.
They (Altell) seemed to establish a level of comfort with the next ROM version from HTC (3.10.671 vs. 3.09.671) but didn't go to the later radio versions.
Interesting, very interesting ...
Best regards,
-boggsie

I can see that! but whey??

So I'm assuming this is tested or true or works? Not many responses here...I want to flash this later tonight onto my Vogue as long as it's definitely working..just thought I'd ask first.

What's new in the 3.10 ROMs compared to 3.09 ROMs?

Should RADIO be bundled with XDA Live v0.30?

I think it is important that all people testing this rom have the best radio suited to it.
This would eliminate some of the connection issues people are clogging the forum with. Several reported user issues have been due to them using old RADIO versions that don't work well with WM6.
We need to bug fix the ROM, connection problems are more likely to be RADIO related than ROM related.
Kyphur has asked me to start a poll asking:
SHOULD THE BEST WORKING RADIO BE BUNDLED WITH THE NEXT XDA LIVE RELEASE? v0.30
What do you think?
Dumb question, but is there any "easy" way to downgrade the radio if the device needs to be sent in for warranty?
I still say no, thw whole point behind cooking ROMs is customisation, the only thing Kyphur will have to concentrate on is the OS making it better than if he had to work on radio aswell, also what happens to use people who have a new version of the radio (1.35.00.11 for example) do we have to downgrade?!
Any radio problems can be narrowed down to just the individual radio versions and not blamed on Kyphur aswell!?
I say we mix and match our OS/ExtROM/Radio etc... as we like and let Kyphur get on with developing this (already brilliant) ROM.
I think people should install the Radio ROM they prefer, not be forced into an update if it's not necessary.
Now, if we could just crack that ExtROM...

Fair points!
How about just a RADIO recommendation from Kyphur then? You're right, lets not add extra workload, just make a suggestion as to which radio instead?
Users can then make their own minds up as you suggest.

A radio recommendation would be a good idea, like at the moment I gather from numerous posts radio 1.27 and hihger would be the preferred to use.
(P.s: sorry I read my last post, looked kinda forcefull)
(not a noob but not an expert :s)
what is the best radio to use tho? hehe
if i go to the wiki page download the 1.35.00.11 Download note: GPS Enabled!
run it
(same installer as for the rom)
and i go for it?
will it change anything to the current config?
thx a Lot

Test a few and find which one works best for you... It's amazing how little people are willing to experiment.
(I guess I was asking a lot of questions regarding ROM building, but that's something that could seriously screw a phone if you're not careful and I can't afford another Hermes right now!)

I agree. Just recommend a min version and leave the ROM with OS only.
I can think of 2 more reasons for not bundling the radio, further to what has been said above:
1) you avoid making the upgrade process process longer and
2)if people have a preference for a particular radio (different than what is bundled), they would need to reflash their radio every time they upgrade the ROM from 0.3 to 0.4 and to 0.5, ...,etc.

Why experiment when u got all this knowledge grouped in a forum,
not knowing if u might brick ur phone or not
IMHO radio should not be included with xda-live distribution. If flash fails while flashing OS or splash screens, nothing happens to the device, but if flash fails when flashing radio device is more dificult to unbrick.
I think the user should choose which radio he wants to have, and we do provide ways of upgrading only the radio.
An emphatic NO - don't include a radio.
1. One of the original ideas of this rom was to provide a stable OS with as few add-ons as possible.
2. This WIKI and forum encourages and helps us to learn about our phones, make informed judgements and customise to suit ourselves. OS, software, use, location etc are all user specific. What works for you doesn't work always for me.
3. There is already a suggestion of US and Rest of World roms to fix localised problems (PTT vs video). Does Kyphur then have to release these versions with & without his (our) chosen radio? Do each of these 4 roms also have to be released with & without Adobe? (now 8 roms)... etc, etc...
4. I travel all over the world with my job and I notice a good radio in UK doesn't work so well in China, Brazil, US etc. Which radio should I vote for? Or should we release the above rom versions with every available radio?
5. If we get Kyphur and the development team to embed a radio what's our next collective request?
6. Having everything done for me takes the fun out of having a Hermes - If I want to just wait for someone to solve my problem I might as well wait for Vodafone or HTC to release an update.
7. We already see loads of questions/complaints/comments about the few apps which are embedded in WMXL so the dev. team are now acting as tech support instead of developing more stuff for us to play with. If they get bored with this role they may stop - then who do we turn to for the next release of WMXL?
So, instead of including a radio I would prefer to see a WIKI which tells us how better to analyse the radio we have and maybe to compare the available radios for reception, data, country of use etc.
If Kyphur doesn't mind all the extra work and can release all the different versions then fine, but I'd rather let him work on a stable OS first.
Only my ideas, I'm sure others will disagree
Adding a Raido will add to the argument as to which is best? There are plenty of installs to do yourself. If you got the balls to do a ROM upgrade then download and install the Radio RUU of your choice before or after as you like.
I agree

I agree, a list would be better, obviously if you are looking at GPS (here here)
you would need a different radio.
kudos to the gurus!
Because different Radio Roms work better in different regions of the world and even with different OS Roms.
That is a lesson learned the hard way from Wizard & AKU 3.x. Ironically T-Mobile NL 2.19 Radio never missed a call with AKU 3.x or WM6 but Cingular's 2.25 Radio was a dog in the Chicago area!
Personally, I would stay away from any of the Trinity GPS enabled Radio Roms (end in .x1) because they just add yet another element into the mix and the goal of this project is stable WM6 not GPS..

That will be BIG NO for me to include radio. As said in previous posts, there are various radios out there and depending on where you are will get different results. Recommending which radio worked well for you at your location with x version of ROM is the best thing in my mine.
I am currently using 1.27 and it seems to work well for me and I won't change until I see a reason to do so (e.g. feature, service, etc...). So I definitely would not want to be force into another radio (although I can just extract the OS and flash with TTY).

We will not post a Radio ROM that is untested; at least I hope no XDA member would. So unless you screw it up it wont brick your device.
a wiki page is a better idea
I think that a sub page of the wiki special for the radio rom is the best solution...
Everybody can add their experience with any version of the radio rom...
A fool proof installer sounds a very very good idea for me!!
Is it possible to return to your original radio rom (or dump it) Radio rom 1.13??
Why dont you have the option for 0.3 with and without the radio rom. Before I put 0.1 on my hermes, I had 1.34 for my radio rom. I am going to attempt to get gps working soon, so before I upgarded to 0.1, I flashed my radio.
I think a lot of people that are holding out for a later version of WXML may be in the same problem that I had, that is, not having the latest radio rom.
Radios? We don't need no stinking radios! Sorry I couldn't resist...
Seriously, pof and the rest are right. Radio selection is highly variable based on location and carrier. Let the end user decide. Having said that, knowing the radios and locations/carriers that the ROM was tested in could be useful information.

This is the same radio that came on my Sprint Touch. It is a pretty good radio but there are some places where I still can't get reception. Basic reception issues that you will get with most any radio.
Overall the coverage with this radio is excellent.

Quick Question for dcd
I was wondering if you would recomend the 2.13 radio over the 1.40 to use in conjunction with your 1.6.10 sprint rom? I know in the end its all up to me just wondering what you thought about it.

Telus 2.15
For the person who asked about use of this on a Telus Touch: I got my Touch in November and the Radio ROM that came with it is newer than this (2.15) so you don't even need this one.
DCD, If I'm not mistaken, it's the same firmware you used in your custom ROM 0.20? (Which I love, btw... and am waiting eagerly for your next one)

I just installed this 2.13 radio Rom on my Bell HTC Touch and its working fine. It seems to have full bars for my EV Data connection all the time now, but it still only has 2 bars when it drops down to 1X for a voice call when I'm at the back of my house. THis is the same as before with the 1.59.10 Rom. I tested out the voice and is sounds a bit better so I think its improvement so far.
i just want to know which has faster data speeds as some say the 159.10a is very fast

Anyone tested out the radio yet?
I installed it, stopped customization and then ran my dcd carrier cab.
So far so good, seems to be pretty responsive. For me its more responsive then some recent custom roms I've ran. No issues with the calls or with data. I'll report if anything comes up.
Can you flash just the radio using the SD card?? I have a Titan, but my friend has the Vogue..... I have the radio that was posted on the Titan upgrade forum by DCD, can this be flashed to his Vogue??

Yes. I just let 'er rip. Lost a lot of cool utilities but well worth the pain of finding them again. GPS lox in seconds. Indoors! It's a beautiful thing. No more waiting 10 minutes for GPS. No worries about upgrading from a non-Bell rom, either.

official bell 6.1 update
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I have a new Alltell Touch, I lost my old modded one as far as Alltel is concerned. I downloaded the new Bell rom because i want the upgraded radio. I unlocked my phone using Cokeman's unlocker and tried to flash to the Bell rom. It gets to 31% and stops and will not go any further, when I retry it gives me an "Invalid Vendor ID" error. I am able to reflash back to the original Alltel rom with no problem. Am I missing a step or doing something wrong? I'm not new to this and I'm getting my arse handed to me by this phone, lol.

New to the TP2 - Can you suggest a ROM

Hello all....
I just picked up a TP2 yesterday.....and i wanna get into tinkering with it.....
i have a g1 with a custom rom, and i also had an htc dash that i installed a rom on.....i know that stock doesnt always give the best performance so i want some suggestions....
basically im looking for a rom that has speed, stability and looks nice....my phones on 6.1 .......so can you guys point me in the right direction?
ohh...and ive notice the screen isnt as responsive on the tp2 as on my g1....i know theyre different (resistive/capacitive) ....can any of the roms improve the screen responsiveness? just askin.....
and thanx again ppl

That's the specifications page for the unbranded (european) version. There are several GSM-only models, mostly for use in the US.
Energy ROMs are my favorites. They look really nice with good features thrown in. Unfortunately, I'm sticking with 6.1 since it's the fastest, most stable, with the most available memory. Need to do a lot of multitasking so the bling bling just wasn't working for me.

This is VERY interesting. Now there is a branded WM6.1 (tim) version on my HTC. But I could consider to leave this rom. Have you done some trustworthy tests for a long time?
Anyway if I decide to update with a new rom, I should use HardSPL. I downloaded this program but my avira antivirus flash up a warning message: can I really trust in HardSPL? Or is there any trojan that I'll could inject inside my Rhodium?
Lets put it this way, if you don't have Hard SPL and you aren't CID unlocked then you will very quickly have a beautiful new shiny Rhodium paper weight.
Hard SPL allows non-carrier specific roms to be loaded... Without it you won't get far...
Had the same problem with my antivirus, you will need to disable it while running Hard SPL, and you will still need to be connected to the net.
As for the Roms, YOU need to read about them then decide whats right for you. Everyone you talk to will recommend a different rom but your circumstances will play a big part in the rom you choose... It doesn't help that every other day a new rom comes out.
Cheers...

"Radio" in reference to "new radio" or "flashing a radio" refers to a radio rom -- it's a software thing. And it affects (at least) your cell connection as well as your GPS connection...and probably how well the radio uses power and affects battery life. And I'm very happy with the new radio I'm using -- better than the stock radio.
But in order to flash a new radio (radio-rom) you need to first do the HardSPL thing, which is also required before flashing an OS rom.
So, if you say you don't want to flash a new OS rom (to avoid voiding your warranty, for example), then you probably won't want to do the HardSPL either, because that's as major (from a non-stock standpoint) as flashing a rom.
If you read just a few threads above this one you´ll find some interesting answers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679322
I have done quite a bit of reading but it still is not clicking. I need a beginners article. I will find it, but have not yet.
So the Hard-SPL thing-a-ma-jiggy at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 - is that just for the radio or a ROM / radio. I do not mind flashing a radio, just do not want to flash a ROM because I don't have a need and do not want to spend the rest of my life on this new toy - i mean necessary piece of office equipment.
What radio would the Hard-SPL at that link give me? Is it true that software alone can increase the number of 3G bars?

I don't know the technical explanation...but the HardSPL is necessary in order to flash any rom -- that means a new radio (rom) or a new custom OS rom. (By "OS--rom" I mean all of those custom roms listed in all those threads in the TP2 Windows Mobile ROM Development sub-forum) The phone won't accept the non-stock rom (including radio-rom) without the HardSPL.
The HardSPL doesn't change anything else, though. You still have the same radio and the same stock rom. But it's necessary to do that before you flash a non-stock radio-rom or a non-stock OS rom.
Radio-roms (software) can improve your reception...but which one will/may do that depends on where you're located and other factors, so you would probably want to try more than one -- but once you've done it you'll see it's easy. It's also possible that 3G coverage in your area is simply poor.
If you need/want more details about alternative radio-roms you probably should post in the Rhodium GSM Radio Collection thread.

If you need/want more details about alternative radio-roms you probably should post in the Rhodium GSM Radio Collection thread.

Perfect answer, amigo!
Brenda, I saw that you were thinking about doing the tmo 6.5 upgrade anyway, which of course includes the .57 radio, and that's the path I would suggest...it'll let you try out wm6.5 as well as that radio, and flashing an official upgrade like that is even easier than doing the HSPL-custom rom thing. So, that way you can see if either of those changes are good for you, with minimum effort and hassle. If the .57 radio doesn't seem to offer any improvement, then you can start getting into flashing others to try...and if you do then I suggest you start with the one MCBrian has in his sig, .77
Thanks sirphunkee for all you rhelp. I will take your advice. I was going to upgrade to 6.5 right away but decided to load a ton of software on my phone first to see what I liked. Well .... I like it all. Now I have so much software that I do not want to take a weekend to reload everything. But I will have to bite the bullet. I sit in a cube all day and like to listen to streaming music. I have napster but I like the unpredictability and pleasant surprises that a streaming station can offer. The low bars are interfering with my music.
I have kept good notes on all my applications installs and have all the software and "fixes". Have screen prints of all my "setups" for email. I use activesync with my desktop Outlook so all of that is saved. Don't think that there is anything else to save. Just wonder if you have any advice before I upgrade. Is there anything I should do before wiping clean my device? Should I clean my program files, outlook attachments, etc on my storage card?
