Lost ringtones - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I've looked all through the archives and come up with some very good solutions that, unfortunately, don't work. Possibly some of you have some solutions.
So, there's a slew of WMA files in the Windows directory that are there as options for ringtones, notifications, etc. There are also WAV files. Out of th ebox my HD played them all, as well as a custom WMA ringtone I dropped in there. I put both Pocket Player and Pocket Music on as well as some other things, and lost access to those files as ringtones.
Over to XDA Developers, the smartest guys I know. They said, this is because these music player programs associate WMA with themselves, and in order to use these files as ringtones it must be WMP that's associated. I uninstalled Pocket Player, detached all the associations with Pocket Music, and made sure that when I click on the WMA file from a file manager, WMP opens and plays it.
But guess what, the clips still don't work in Sounds and Notifications. I click on the file, test-play, and nothing happens. If I try to close Sounds and Notifications, the drop-down tests every file between the one I picked and the last one to find a file that works. Since they're all WMA there isn't one that works. I can't close the Sounds and Notifications window until I associate a WAV file with "Incoming Call".
It's not like I can't live without my precious personalised rings. It is, however, annoying that out of the box it worked, and I did something that means it doesn't now, and I can't seem to back my way out.
As I say, there are a lot of people who've had this problem before, and several threads in the archives. I've tried to read all of them, and not to sound too stupid. But any help you might be able to offer would be totally appreciated.
Thanks

Music panel in all ROMs

Sorry for the new thread, I've tried posting this question in another thread with no answer. I also (first thing I did) tried searching for my problem all over these forums and the web, with no real findings.
I'm having a huge problem with TF3D's music panel. Everytime I click to play a track, it plays about 3-5 seconds of the track, then just stops. All softkeys still work, and if I try pausing/playing, it repeats. All tracks I've tried. It also doesn't list all the music (all music stored on microSD under same folder). All the songs play fine under WMP on the phone (as well as all other devices obviously). Any help???

Are your files on the microSD card (I'm assuming so, just want to verify). What type of files are they (.wma .mp3 .aac etc) maybe we can narrow this down. I'm recently liberated from iTunes, so a lot of my files are in aac (drm-free) format, so maybe I have to convert straight to mp3????
Sounds very strange, I think the reason not many people have replied is that they dont experience this issue.
I have played music on my unbranded TP2 with the stock rom and then many custom roms all without any problem.
Sorry I know that doesnt help you...
I am playing mp3's from the memory card.
Have you tried to copy the file to the internal memory and play it from there? Perhaps you memorycard is too slow?

yeah they are on my micro sd. they are mp3 i would post a ringtone but i only have spanish music lol
The issue I'm having is that not all my mp3's (which are all in the same directory on the SD card) are showing up, only about 15 of the 50 mp3's I have show.
Everything shows fine in the Windows Media Player though. Just not the TF3D interface
I'm starting to think it may be the fact that my music is AAC format....ugh...that's just way too much converting.......

Funny, I get the different album covers for different artists!
Anyhow, I'm going to delete all the SD card files, and edit the various ID tags and see if thats the issue. I think it may be that they are being read incorrectly.
I had this issue when using the Leo build from NRG, only played a few seconds of song for me and sometimes it would just freeze and not play anything. Im using Photon now and all music plays fine

mp3 not working as ringtone

hi
my BA recently has become unable to use mp3s as ringtones. i guess it has sth to do with permanantly associating .mp3 with a different programm (stupid me )than the windows media player. but simply re-associating mp3s with wmplayer did not work.
i however can select them in the sounds & notifications window but if i press on play nothing happens. .WMAs work fine btw.
can someone tell me which registry keys are responsible for handling ringtones and the mp3-filetype (possibly with the standart values)?
i am using d-twos wm6.5.3 if thats of any interest
g
fleity
file associations have nothing to do with it. i use an mp3 ringtone and have tcpmp as standard player and can still use the ringtones and select new ones. unfortunately i can't tell you more.
Have you put the mp3's in the map "my documents-my ring tones" ?
That's the place here to switch between standard en own ring tones.
But when it work's in the past well then it's may another problem now.
How can i put a mp3 file to ring on the alarms?

Problem with artworks in HTC Music Player

Hi,
I hope I'm posting this in the right section.
I have a problem with HTC Music player not showing some artworks (which are directly saved in mp3). I already tried 3 (Cubed) player as well and it has the same issue.
I also tried updating the artwork several times just to make sure Desire would recognize the change but no luck. The phone does not refresh the id3tag at all. Winamp and WMP on my desktop show the artwork correctly.
Does anyone else experience something similar?
Well, it seems that deleting the folder albumthumbs from SDcard solved this issue.
Although it does not explain why the phone is unable to refresh the id3 tags even when the affected songs are deleted and copied back again.
Oh well
Have you tried to use the app called SDrescan?

[Q] Epic fail with music

So I've dragged and dropped music onto my Epic. I put it in the Media folder of my SD Card. My epic will play all music, expect for songs from a single artist. It baffles me! There's nothing that separates it from the rest of my music. Same format (both m4a and mp3), it plays both formats for every other artist, Protected or not, except for this single one. Even more baffling, my Epic will randomly decide to not recognize ANY music, both mp3 AND m4a. I don't understand it :/ I won't notice it until I see that my phone is ringing but no ringtone, b/c I have Windowlicker as my ringtone. So on multiple occasions, I would go to my music player and it would literally go through every single song and display that disappointing "File not supported" message. I reboot my phone and it's fine again, with the exception of that one artist. Anyone got a fix for this or at the very least tell me why this is happening? I'm running my Epic on SRF 1.1.
Just had this happen to me today. I ran through a few things and it fixed itself...I uninstalled Voodoo Sound control...reboot...fixed permissions...reboot...and then another reboot due to some goofy lock up with my airplane mode. Started working again. Running Bonsai 4.01. The odd thing is that it was ALL music apps...Amazon MP3 and Poweramp too.

Maybe try installing the "My files" app. Flash the attached through clockwork and see if that helps.

Ringtone & notificatone tone reset, music players can't find mp3 files. Why?

Don't know what happened, but since my last charge to 100% and G3 reboot, my music players can't find any music, not mp3 single songs or albums.
Also my ringtone has been set to default, as has the notification tone. Can't browse to my original mp3 files to reset them, only the standard tones are available.
I just checked MXPlayer and it can't find my videos. When I checked the MXPlayer settings I saw that no file extensions were selected. When I tried to select file extensions, MXPlayer won't save the extensions!
Phone is rooted with KitKat 4.4.2. Can someone please tell me what's going on???

Hi I was wondering if you got this problem resolved?
I have d852 running candy5 for the late 4 months at least and about a week ago I added a new album to the music folder (like I have done many times in the past) now no music app can see my mp3s and all my ringtones and notification tones gave disappeared... I tried wiping and formatting internal and external SD and clean install of the ROM to no avail...
Hoping you found a solution...
Sent from my LG-D852 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, I should have followed-up. I had updated one of my apps, and it misbehaved, putting a .nomedia file in the root of each memory card. I deleted .nomedia in root and all my media files were visible again!
