sorry. noob Q here.
do i just flash this like how i flash ROMs using hardSPL etc etc?
i am considering trading in the 838pro (Hermes) for a Kaiser, but just afraid that the telcos will make noise when they see a custom splash screen (running cyphol's GM360 GOLD now) when they check my device.
THANKS!
Yes,
If your device is CID unlocked you can flash them by using CustomRUU. I am sure that even every other RUU will work but lets keep things simple!
This ROMs contain only the 1st and 2nd Splash Screen, everything else will stay untouched on your Hermes!
When you flash another ROM to your phone (like flashing your original shipped ROM) the Splash Screens will get overwritten again with the one's from the ROM you're flashing with ...
ok thanks!
very straight forward!
i just coped the "RUUWrapper.exe" from one of the ROMS i downloaded here, and used it to activate the "RUU_signed.nbh"
I think this method is easier than getting the "SPL-1.01 MFG" and then make it 1.01 then 1.04, that part is confusing me.
its just that I've created my own "welcomehead.96.png", now wondering if i perform a HardReset before handing the 838pro (Hermes) to the telcos, will the original welcomehead.96.png "come back" ..
THANKS FOR THE original windows mobile boot screen .nbh file !!

You only get the 'original' splash screens back on your device by reflashing them! Either extract them from your original shipped ROM or flash the entire original flash ROM.

Are these just the files or can I rename as update.zip and flash like I would any other update?
I'm really keen to get rid of the T-Mobile splash screen!
Cheers

hmmm, no i doubt renaming as update.zip would ever work (There's a bit more to it than just naming a file to be honest)
to change your bootscreen (the t-mobile splash you mention) you will need to root your phone, and then put the spl released on nov 24th onto your phone (it's a sticky)
and use the fast boot program to send the required file to your phone in the rgb565 file format.
there is a how to on modaco with some custom bootsplash screens -- with a few submitted by me i might add
check here (if you're a member, otherwise look for the thread "Custom Splash & Boot Screens for the Hero " in the htc hero thread in the android forum

Exactly what lusephur said but for some reason Agent-5 who started to topic he linked to over at MoDaCo seems to have deleted all his posts but you can find out how to do it here although this is for a Dream not a Hero...to reboot into bootloader on the hero it is back and power when switching on.

Err... yeah sure I can give it a go but I warn you I am really bad when it comes to graphics lol so if anyone else wants to create one but not sure on how to make it RGB565 post it and I can convert it.

Cheers for the info guys. I'll have a look at the guide shortly.
No worries about rooting and bootloader, it was the 1st thing I did when I got the phone a few months back

[Q] Remove tmobile bootscreen?

I got a t-mobile branded DHD, and had no problems with root s-off etc. and im currently running revolution 2.0.11 ROM.
But the tmobile bootscreen is still there. Is there any possibility to remove it?
I already tried to replace the bootanimation.zip in /data/local/. So first I thought that worked because when fastboot is turned on the new bootanimation shows up on restart.
But when I go into CWM or when fastboot is turned off the tmobile logo is still showing up.
I also flashed Kernel and Radio but still no effect.
Does anyone know where this logo is stored or how it can be removed?

Yes it's on the /splash2 partition. To nuke it you need a new splash.img. You can get one from extracting from an ruu or there is a thread for custom splash screen in the themes section of the forum.
You also need eng hboot s-off not radio s-off then you can boot to fastboot and do "fastboot flash splash2 splash.img"
-----
Someone Swyped my idea.
like mox said it's not the boot animation, its the splash, you need to have eng s-off, then find the image you want as a splash, you need to convert the .bmp to an .img, then you can flash it from fastboot using the command "fastboot flash splash1 xxxxxx.img"
thx for your fast answers!
how do i convert a bmp to img? i guess it wont work by just changing the file ending?
im so glad i wont have to see that t-mobile logo anymore now my DHD is completely liberated from all this provider crap

Hi all,
i found 0 search result for changing boot splash image on galaxy nexus, but I already changed this boot image on my HTC G1, so i know how to do it.
my question is if it is possible and, if so, using which command?
I used:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.rgb565
(..or something like that.. dont remember ..)
for G1 but i don't know if it works for GN as well.
..and, in my G1 I also changed the 2nd bootloader, the SPL, with the death one .. is there any modified SPL for GN ??
my GN is rooted, CWM recovery, AOKP (maguro 21) and I9250XXKK6 radio

help backup HTC Desire splash1

Hello everyone. Especially experts, I really need your help!
I want to flash a custom splash1, though I already have a fancy splash from an Korean company.
I haven't been able to find that splash on the internet.
So I utterly wish to back it up in case I want to revert back.
I did a lot of browsing and analyzing.
Seems like the splash1 should be in some separate partition.
But I can't really find it.
I tried to DD backup and convert to png every partition I found inside dev/block. None gave me an picture of my splash1.
So I need your help, experts and super advances users and maybe former owners of HTC Desire.
Any tip and suggestion will be appreciated.
Thank you guys. Waiting for your replies! :fingers-crossed:

Not sure where the splash is located but a simple solution would be just download the exact ruu for ur phone (country/region/brand etc) then pull the rom.zip from the ruu exe file then inside the rom.zip will be the splash.img
Its up to u, might save u hours of searching.
