Auto Wifi On At Power Up ? - P3300, MDA Compact III ROM Development

Quick question because I've googled around and on here an it seems this can only be done by an app from the home screen when its started... at least that seems the recomended way.
Is there a patch or a reg setting to switch it on automatically after a power on / reboot ?
TIA
Terran

Softkey Changer

I made a little Cab file of the Softkey Changer App I found somewhere in an Extended Rom.
Since there are a lot of people who want to change the softkeys.
Enjoy
what does it do? Is it to change application in the main (today) softkeys?
or can it also change softkey in other applications such as Outlook Mobile?
Thanks in advance.

I too am confused. Isn't there already an option to change whatever application we can launch using the soft key buttons by going to the system settings?
This application is not standard in every Rom.
If you don't have it in your Rom, you can add it now.
Yes you can assign every program to one of the softkeys.
sharky48 thanks for this fantastic thing. I use to have some other one, bu this is just perfect.
Thanks again

This one is much better:
- It allows to select any application whereever the application is.
- Allows to rename the Soft Key Display Name
- The applet can be put on any Tab (Personal, System or Connections) of Settings
Cheers,
.Fred
ps.: the only disavantage is that the size of the applet is 63k against the 18k of yours

You need to unzip the file and copy the applet file to \windows folder then perform a soft reset.

Thanks for the explaination. Appreciate it.
Does anyone know of a way to access call history using the softkeys, or even the hard keys?
On my old C500 i think there was an executable somewhere which opened call history, and it was possible to point a button at this, can't seem to find one on the hermes though.

Thanks! Does anyone has these files: tnsms.exe (for "New SMS" command) and tnmms.exe (for "New MMS" command) in folder: My Pocket PC\Windows\ ? Couldn't run softkeys for "New SMS" or "New MMS".
Thanks again!
so i got the app working but on WM6 even though i changed the soft key in the program on the today screen the right soft key still says menu
what should i try to change that?
also how do i edit the names so instead of it saying messaging for the left soft key it becomes Messaging with a capitol?

There should be an option there to rename it. Just read it carefully. It should be at the top.

wow thanks im stupid.
however still i cannot change the right soft key, even though i have a program selected in the program, on the today screen it still wont change from Menu
So I changed the right soft key to new sms and it didnt work, so I changed it back to Calendar but now it gives me an error:
HTCCalendar.exe
The file "HTCCalendar" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
This is using the former file (soft key changer.zip) not applet.
Even resetting doesnt help.

excellent but how do I edit the registy?
AFAIK, there is no way of switching that feature off.. however, there is software that clears the list on every softreset. It is common/popular software to be included in most cooked ROMs

I would check the start menu folder, see if the shortcut is still in there for some reason. If so delete it.

At the moment you cannot turn off Haptic Feeback for the keys at the bottom of the phone. Motorola says it's a bug. Maybe it'll get unbugged soon.
chmod 0444 /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/enable
would totally disable the vibrator.

In order to turn off keys vibration, you need to
- Have root on your defy (you can use z4root application, use google, download apk, install it)
- Have explorer that is able to view/edit system files (f.e. Super Manager from Android Market, remeber set "use Root" in this app settings)
- Go to the folder /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/ with f.e. Super Manager
- Create file called "enable", and then change this file atributes (chmod 444 - read, read read) for this file with super managers, and thats all.
Regards.
headblow - your instructions work brilliantly until the phone's rebooted, and then the vibrations come back. Any way to make that stick so it's not reset every time?
Can u plz make an update zip file.

Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
Found a couple of interesting things on another forum:
There's an app someone has cooked up that will make the permission changes to the file for you, so you don't have to hunt around in Super Manager or similar file explorer.
There's no way to make the change permanent, because you're not dealing with a physical file on disk. There's an app called Autostart than runs a script as root on startup though, so adding something like:
chmod 444 /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/enable
into that script should always turn off vibration on startup. Haven't tried it yet, wife's phone is with her at work.
Worket for me
but how ever here is just temp when i get reboot the vibrate back , but i have a bug the call is to disable vibrations and for the call vibration is neccessary , i wish disable only for the butons
I''m disabling vibrations globally with application Streak Vibrations. Vibrating during unlocking device and button feedback drives me mad.

Hi,
I have a defy (stock 2.1) since some months now ... and I have got the same annoying issue...
Because I found nothing to answer this problem, I coded an app for myself some days ago ... but if it can help someone else ...
However, you must to be root for a full using of it.
This app stops the vibrate totaly (with a 0444 on /sys/class/timed_output/vibrator/enable) but switch it to enable (with a 777) when a call.
The app can be started at boot.
Fits perfectly for my usage ... but I'm aware if you have suggestions to improve it. Sources are shared on a SVN if someone wants them.
(I can post the url later when I have enough rights to post a link on this forum).
(sorry for my english and for the crap icon for the app : I'm not a designer )
EDIT : link for downloading is removed because a topic about VibraFix is created here.
is the problem still present on android 2.2 ?
yes on my defy with official update (Android2.2.2 / 34.164.3.MB525.Retail.en.FR).
I still using my app ^^

Nope. I think I will not pay for publishing a fix for the Defy ...
The only thing I will do one day : change the icon because I don't like it and enable vibrate for SMS/MMS.
