Prophet and Trinity Cradle - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 Accessories

Hello!
I have been looking for a cradle to use with my Prophet. I finally found one, which I liked, but it is designed for the Trinity. It seems to me that both devices are pretty much the same size and the usb plug seems to be located on the same position. I want to ask if anyone knows whether I can use a Trinity cradle for the Prophet. It would also be helpful if someone owns both devices and can put them side-by-side to see if the usb plug is located in the same position. Thanks in advance!

Universal Cradle...

Why doesn't it come with a cradle?
When would one be available? How would it look like?
Thanks,
Chris
I doubt there will be a cradle for the Universal because the synch port is a mini USB port on the side of the unit, not in the traditional place that other PDA's usually have their synch port, which is the bottom. I suppose they could make some sort of rack thing where you could slide the unit into, similar to what the Sony UX-50 Palm clamshell had, but personally, I doubt they will bother.
U are right

Car Cradle/Holder

Hi All,
I've been reading this forum for a while now and I'n currently looking for a active car holder. I've seen all kinds come by, but the one that I (and others I think) are looking for is no were to be seen!
The Veripart is a step in the right direction. But I don't need a extra speaker AND I want my MDA vertical! Is it so hard for the cradle developers to create one like that.
Does any know of a cradle like that?
PS, sorry for the tone in this post, but I just get a bit frustrated that something so easy could be so hard to get.
Hi, Welcome to the forum,
Have you seen the Brodit holders for the Exec/JasJar etc.
They offer Passive holders: code 848649, (just holds it) or Active with Cig Charger code: 968649 or hardwired to vehicles power code: 971649.
All the holders allow you to have it either in vertical PDA mode, or Laptop mode with exposed keyboard, and also full rotation for landscape view for sat nav etc.
Have a look at: http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/brodit.asp either do a search by PDA make, the codes above or the 968649 is listed further down the homepage.
All the holders either fit onto a vehicle specific proclip (choose your car make, model and year) or onto a windscreen suction mount.
Hope that helps you decide, many users have these and have posted positive comments on the forum about them.
Cheers,
Bryson
Hi Bryson,
Yes I know.. But I just hate to have to connect the power supply each time manualy. When you look at the veripak one it has the connector build in. You just slide the mda in the cradle and youre done.
I'm using an Arkon vehicle mount for my Wizard. It's also a windshield mount with a tightening swivel head that can be locked into either vertical or horizontal position. Take a look here -- http://www.arkon.com/pdamount.php
There's several different models of their mounts available on the site. The one I'm using is the CM920 model. Works fine for me!!
But then I would still be plugging the power in manualy every time
I had my Wizard mount from www.dsldevelopments.com dealing with Bryson. Worked great and I'm going to order the Hermes one from him too. I suppose you could always doctor the power cable and wire it in properly behind your dash.
Cheerio

There's a new one on the O2 XDA site that looks interesting and is vertical. I haven't found any more info on this yet though.

Does any one have and experiance with these?

There is a massive price difference too though,

What is that port/hole next to the USB port?

Just want to ask a simple question. What is that port/hole next to the USB port? I'm considering the Excalibur/T-Mobile Dash and learning about it before buying.
Thanks,
lie_ui
It is the port for the Headset
The port is for Headset with Mic.
Thanks. I thought the Excalibur uses the same USB-port for the headset as well (just like the TyTn). Or it can use both type of headset then as i noticed the USB port is the HTC custom one just like one in the TyTn?
I think they both are for headsets -- in a perfect world there'd be a standard headphone jack on the dash somewhere...

From the internal photos on the FCC OET web site, it doesn't look like the second hole is electrically connected. I think it may just be for connecting a lanyard or charm.
by my device(dopod c720w asia model) it is nothing ,just a hole.
joychui, did you get the game Another World of your dopod c720w ?? I saw that it comes on the phone from asian reviews. I tried getting it but wont run correctly on the usa Dash?
thank you

HELP! PDA2 alternative connector

Hi
I was wondering if the connector located under (not behind) the battery works for upgrading Pocket pc (PDA2) like the usual one, because it has broken tracks.
Also if anyone knows where to get that alternative connector, or at least what's the known name of it.
cant renember what htc model pda2 is
but if it's himalaya it's the backpack connector and i doubt it can be used to sync
also it could be an external antenna connector in which case it also cant be used to sync with
clikc XDA-wiki and find your device it could be that it have a hardware description where you can find info about the connector
I've googled for the Himalaya CF backpack, but drawn a blank... Are there any peripherals actually available that use it?
...or any more tech info on its pins so that we could develop our own?

Car Charger Problem

The description of WM6 new releases by Faria stated that finaly he solved the annoying car charger disconnection problem.
I think this has been one of the major isues of the Hermes, and until this moment nobody has been able to solve it without tweaking the conectors.
Could somebody explain how to "export" the Faria solution to any other rom (reg change, cab file...).
At the moment I'm with the last Elf rom and don't have time for a new change.
Thanks
(I have made this question on Faria's post but no answer at the moment)
I dont have that problem with my hermes, maybe because Im using the i.Trek semsons automount

Hi.
I solved this problem time ago buying a new car charger for my Hermes, and issue dissapears, no matter wat ROM i use
Not all car charges are the same, take a look and buy one specifically for Hermes...
bear in mind that there are also two different pin configurations for miniUSB connectors.
my father has one miniUSB connector for his GPS and another seemingly identical one for his hermes. one works on the hermes, the other does not.
Thanks for your comments.
I know that there are special chargers that will work, but I use one with 2 USB female connector in wich I can conect at same time an usb+psp double cable (for my Hermes and my Creative Zen Extra) and a single usb cable (for my Leadtek GPS).
I prefer to avoid more gadgets arround, and if there is a free software solution....
I had the same problem. I found a way around it, it's not elegant but it works.
Disconnect and reconnect the battery while the car charges is connected.
It works every time.

There is an easier solution, but not always works. Just connect the hermes while it is in standby.
...
Regarding the real solution announced with the new roms, it should be the chef secret recipe....
I used to suffer from this all the time, now it works 100%. I am running Black 3.5 but I think it was fixed back in Black 2.0 / XDA Live 0.2 time. I am using the same cable I used back then.
The workaround I used to do was, if it didnt start charging, to just soft reset the device and it would charge every time.

im guessing with the faria solution it only sends 500ma to the phone still, but yes working great so far with the Faria rom.
I did have the correct charger cable but then it got mixed up or broken and have not found it since. (it had the correct pins and thus charged at a much faster rate the the usb sync cable rate.
My interest in this is improperly designed devices, such as the Garmin Mobile 20 GPS receiver. It has a method of powering the connected phone/PDA by means of a cable, but it doesn't work on the TyTN (although it does work with a friend's T-Mobile SDA).
The unit clearly gives enough power to charge the TyTN, as connecting it then doing a soft-reset works. I just have no hope that Garmin will fix this issue, even though I have pointed them to one of the larger threads on car chargers, and what has to be done to make them work (I suspect that a new charging cable on their end would be enough to make it work). Thus, a software fix that works with the various ROMs out there would be a good thing.

I would also like to know this.
my sister and father both have hermes i would like to implement this change which has caused my dad MANY porblems without havnig to upgrade him to WM06 and invalidate his warentee.
I bought some cheap no-name USB car charger labled for Motorola Razr I believe... I was confused as to why it seemed to work intermittently. I recently found the answer - you must have the car charger live before you plug it into the Hermes. So I:
1. Plug in the car charger to the cigar lighter
2. Start or turn on the car
3. Then plug it into the Hermes.
Works 100% now.
everyone keeps missing the point...
there are several work arrounds!!!
BUT somone has managed to work out how to get the software ROM to behave properly.. this is better than ANY work arround or special adapter....
this software is what we require. (please!) stop explaining you special connection methods its not what is being asked for...
