Unlock screen skin - Touch HD Themes and Apps

The htc HD is an amazining piece of technology as we all agree, and as I've seen from this forum people are really making the most of it by being creative and making everthing that wasnt quite up to scratch better (the skin for the calculator, new apps etc). Though one thing I have yet to see which is also something I feel lets down the device astheticly is the unlock screen. we all know the one, it's part of windows mobile and looks as if it's been drawn on ms paint, a bit of a let down. I searched the forums, and other sites and seen the likes of throtle lock, and S2U2 but to be honest if I wanted something like an iPhone I would have got an iPhone. Idealily I'd love something that fits in with touchflo 3d, perhaps something resembling the phone dailer, and not a new lock program simply a skin for the old one. So I was wondering has anyone made such a thing or if not is anyone now interested in making one, I'm sure this will be something that will be highly popular with HTC users as it'll help the device look more complete and well rounded rather then seem like theres been bits overlooked by the developers.
below are the images of what we currently have and what I'd like it to resemble

Go for it!
Hell ya!
Why is it so difficult? I really like to see a simply remodified skin for the standard lockscreen. We have tons of skins for kinda everything (including senseless stuff).
For me it is very important to use the look, because if I loose my HD, nobody should call with it or read important stuff about work/privacy.
Hmpf.
Bye,
The Hopeless-one.

I have seen such a skin, but unfortunately it was on the kaiser and it was a wm6.5 rom. i will do a little digging myself see what pops up and what i can create...
watch this space!

leebaber, you've hit the nail on the head with this one!
I have always found it weird nobody has skinned the horrible lock screen!
A Manila-looking screen would look awesome
k1nn34r, I'm watching eagerly!

if someone can solve this they'd be my HERO!!
HTC has done it somehow - it was much better looking e.g in Dutty's 3.3XT ROM - so its possible -I am not technical enough to know which files and how to change them.

Yes, the one in Dutty's V3.3 rom is perfect! I loved the skin that was used! Sadly it has been removed for whatever reason in his latest V3.4 rom. I've already requested (along with some others) a cab or the files to get it back to the skinned version.
Really hoping something comes of this as I to use the lock screen and prefer it over the Iphone look.
Will be keeping an eye on this thread!

I'm using Dutty's 3.3, how is this unlock screen much different from the original?

Why don't you compare yours with the screen shot of the ugly stock one above...you should see the glaring difference.

Too HOT TO HANDLE...Splash Artwork for Black

Hi Guys and Gals,
I have received comments that people dont really like the HTC splash screen as below:

}
I myself am into branding, hence why I have stuck with the black trend.
Now I call upon people to submit original artwork for a NEW HTC splash. After about a week of posts and submission, I will call a poll to determine which is the most popular.
Here are the specifications for the submissions:
File Type: BMP File
Resolution: 24bit
Size in pixels: 240x320
Ok, the only thing I request is we can keep submissions aligned with the BLACK theme, and the mysterious nature and attitude of the ROM. It can range from anything evil to anything sexual, I dont care!
Looking forward to seeing your creative sides.

hehehehe, add a dash of cointreau...called a "snakebite"...have downed many many of em, as for the bootlogo the one you have is great
Heh... I love the current splash sreen too. I vote for it!
i personally like the current spawn one.. who's been complaining? they're probably old people.
Yeah!! How can people not love Spawn!!
My vote stays with the current
S.K.
keep it the same....
Yes, it's a nice splash... why change?
love to hear you decide to make new version....
Regards.

clean? that will be the end of BLACK
i vote for the spawn bootlogo as well,
it is nice, and "black enought"
I vote we keep it the same, the current one is niiiiiiiiiice.
that makes so much sense now..
haha with all these people voting to keep the spawn logo, I wonder who were the ones that were opposed to it.. It's funny, I imagine that the majority of people who liked the spawn splash didn't bother to say, HEY, i like that spawn splash.. whereas all the ones who didn't (however FEW i imagine there are) probably were loud and clear.
I like the current splash screen. Welcome to the dark side!
I am a Black lover too.
Stuff them if they complain don't let them download it, the Spawn one looks great and I'm more than happy with it, and I'm more than happy to leave the decision to make the boot screen anything you want.
Hi JJ. Great to hear that a new Black may be on the horizon!!
It seems to be that most of us are quite pleased with Spawn!! I too think that it fits in perfectly with the Black theme. Just my 4 cents worth.....(inflation sucks,eh?)
Later........
I may have a go at putting a/some screen/s together just for the sake of it, but actually like the original, and vote for that.

iphone users get all the cool stuff!!!!

Just found this http://www.ononesoftware.com/blog/2009/05/15/iphone-app-from-onone/, it looks usefull (to me anyway) shame I don't have an Iphone.
It's such a shame there aren't so many cool apps or well polished apps for WM6+ the hardware is probably capable of a lot but i feel apple users and android users too are getting all the fun, new apps all the time, nicely presented, stylish usefull (admittedly some less usefull than others)
I am a very visual person, i'm a photographer and I design websites and dabble in a bit of graphic UI design sometimes, and I find a lot of apps for my phone are visually dull, visually lacking in inspiration and usefull as some may be (currently using pocketwit a lot) they just don't compete with shiny apple/android apps.
The screen shot mock ups for the new HTC Hero look like they are trying to hop onboard the iphone app/widget train and look nice but I tried out a host of different twitter clients for my TP2 before I went for pocketwit (which I can theme a little) but ditched them partly because they looked dull. It's like finding a website that someone created which is the most usefull website you could ever use...but they built it using badly structured tables with garish bouncing animated giffs and wrote it in the late 90's using MS frontpage.
sorry, it's late and i'm a little tired and i felt it had to be said...
bah why not use remote desktop on the TP2 with EOS Utility on the laptop and an adhoc connection between the two. Thats what I do... live preview and all...
If the software that hurts your visual esthetics is freeware, I would suggest that you contact the developer and offer him your help on polishing up the UI. This is meant serious. As being a hobby developer myself, I sometimes find it hard to create the gui in aspects of esthetic. I make it functional from my point of view but it's not looking nice.
On the other site, you just might want to get an iphone or android...
just my 2ct.
offering to glam up apps is an option of course, this was the last ui theme i designed...quite a while ago now but it started a big following of people trying to port it to other music player apps which was quite cool.

I love my TP2 and glossy and refined as the iphone and android phones are they just don't cut it with my business and working requirements.
See that link you posted earlier ir803? I don't think it's that impressive. Read the detail, you need to hook a laptop up to the camera over USB then the iPhone application connects to the PC.
You can already do this on the TP2. Just run the same PC-camera software and access it via remote desktop or VNC. If they offer a web interface to it then just connect over the web in your phones browser.
That's the difference between the TP2 and the iPhone. On the latter you can do what someone else has specifically allowed you. On the TP2 you can use generic tools to do just about anything.
But yeah, the aesthetic side of it is poor. Most of the apps I run are reasonably polished but there are a few uglies I use such as PuTTY and VxUtil just because their great functionality outweighs the visual manure that is their UI.

My thoughts exactly. Let's hope some form of 'skinning' is possible.
It's very ugly..Zune HD like....
Super ugly !!!
The homescreen is ugly, but the rest of the OS is very elegant and simple. You guys should watch demos on youtube you will be blown away. MS said that there gonna be tight on OEM customization, but I think their still gonna allow some customization for OEM to stand out from the competition. You guys REALLY need to try out the demo site: http://www.windowsphone7series.com/
i think also it is nice and clear - thats what i want - no overfilling with buttons and things from tabs and options on the "homescreen"
it remember me more of that TouchOne skin - where u move up - down - left and right to reach specific screens instead of using a tabsborder. people often forget that we use such phones also in cars and while walking - so we need a sure and failsafe surface with not to small buttons (at least less).
if anybody knows a good and fast! UI for Wm6.5 let me know - new sense is nice looking but still i search for something simplier to use/touch UI
First impressions...
It looks overly simplified, and more like an art project - or a set of 'design placeholders' that mark areas still needed to be finished in detail.
I question a lot of real-life interactivity with the device, it seems a little silly having the text of the hub cropped off screen.
It wouldn't surprise me if the the API's for this are very basic (aka. simple gadgets) - I have a feeling this isn't designed to run apps in the traditional sense.

Any1 know about this WP7 Theme?

Hi all, just came across a variety of images showing the below theme for WP7, just wondering if anyone knows of it? Should we be expecting this kind of theme customisation with the update(s)? Is this a photoshop job? Looks very Manilla-ish but much better than the solid colour chioces available atm.

doesnt seems real to me. But Ms said, they want to give HTC deeper access to the OS...so I do think something like this will come some day
As far as i understand, those dead tiles, uses images, over simple canvas colored with ancient color. If HTC provides non-transparent image, it will be used, to create such an effect. That doesn't even impress me. If MS will give control to change main page of the phone, iPhone will look like a brick.
It's a fake image.
I think that's a HTC HD2 with Fireslave's WP7 Throttlelauncher theme with one of the modifications that's been created for it.
Also, look at the buttons. All current WP7 phones have capacitive buttons, whereas they are hardware ones.

yes, unfortunately, this WP7 theme was a theme dreamt up by a Fanboy. i think it was what he was hoping the HD3/7 would look like. it was/is so good that some companies thought it was for real!
ahh well that's a shame. Cheers for clearing this up then. A lot of companies (particular car kit ones) are using this image, need to put some copyright on that picture!
LOL ,it has to be fake because it has a CHT/Android music player and a cut down sense weather widget .
but it still looks real cool
I will confirm it was a concept drawing...

My Omnia 7 disagrees!

Sup guys getting a 32GB version in a hour or so.

Sup people, id like to introduce myself, I'm a hobbyist 3d artist and graphic designer. "Not so much good at the design part" but for now on im gonna "try" to design wallpapers, lock screens, and Themes optimized for the Nexus 7. I'm not very proficient in coding but I have a friend who both has the nexus 7 and is a semi recognized developer here on XDA. "you probably know him he is the creator of Dandroid" "I actually came up with that name =P"
Here is just a few things I have done "I know not impressive yet" But at least it gives me some credibility to what im saying.

If at all possible since im new here anyone can suggest things that are worth developing for on the nexus 7 id be very grateful.
I know zilch about coding or desinging 3d models but I will say that
a lot of the design work I've seen on here tend to lead toward
embossed, shiny, 3D-like styles. The pictures you posted look pretty decent,
I would like it even more if you had the green in a lighter shade though like
the original androids colour. Anyway this is going a bit off topic but I think it would be interesting to
see how you can merge 3D design skills into things like wallpapers
and lock screens and also into future apps your friend can help you develop.
We have a Themes and Apps subforum for this kind of thing.
Good luck with your wallpapers. And welcome to xda
As you seem to have posted some images already ive moved this thread to themes. If you add more wallpapers to the thread rather than start another it keeps things tidy
Regards

Anyway Here is some of my other work, I used to be more into Gundam 3d modeling so here is some of my more impressive work that isnt client work. "sorry ahead of time, I haven't enough posts so add links yet".
