similar trouble
hello
I have a hx 4700 when battery reaches to zero battery go to the trahs ,4700 never more charge this battery .I post yesterday the trouble , but nothing write about this .i see that these batts have an internal IC with registry and UNIQUE NUMBER SAVED and when something happens the bad value are stored in batt IC eprom ,If I charge when the charge goes to 10% all ok , but another day i use the gps in the car and i dont see the batt matter , battery goes to 0 and never more was charged by the IPAQ .I open the batt and i can test that the cells are well in charge but IC blocks current from cells to + - pins .I see the data sheet of the IC charger(inside de batt) , he have eprom and values in registry probably bad , i also want to find some soft for solve , the batt its new .

Phone randomly turned off

I've had this phone for about 2 years i think (is there a way to tell the exact days?). It was working fine until about a couple of weeks ago. It starts to randomly turned off by itself. I would call somebody or pick up a call and using text message and it would just turn off by itself. But when ac adapter is plugged in, no problem at all. Not sure if it's the battery or something else.

according to my personal experience it is because ur battery is not holding charge any more... it happens with most of the batteries..i had same problem. my battery would require 5 to 6 hours to charge and it would b empty with in 1 hour..it was in the beggining later my battery would not even open my phone without connecting it to AC adaptor.. So you can now buy a new battery.. increase the life of ur battery by doing following things:
* when u buy ur battery charge it to at least 8 to 10 hours
*do not use ur device when it is charging.
*do not use Internet sharing with ur new battery.
*do use ur old battery if u r sycn ur device with PC for long period of time.
* Use Omap clock to reduce the overclocking.. it provides bit long battery life..
hope this helps...

Thanks. there are batteries for $2+$3 shipping or $9+fs. Hmm, decisions... Should i trust these?
Why don't you measure the capacity of your batteries? It is easy - lookup the thread in my signature.
For the Excalibur the battery drain with full lit display (all radio parts off - keyboard lights off) is 98mA. So roughly 10 hours will it last until the battery is flat. I had measured 2 different batteries in my device and their data has produced the attached chart in Excel.

[Inquiry] HTC Battery

Sup sup.
Okay basically I just want to know, what's the MOST efficient way to store my HTC Battery away? I want to use a bigger battery bank as a replacement thus I want to store my HTC default batt away. I don't want to find that 1 year after not using it, it depletes 1%/s.
Any battery experts ? =)
Thanks.
Store batteries properly. If your battery will be out of use for a while, disconnect it from the phone and store it in a cool and dry but not freezing place (an airtight container in a refrigerator, but not a freezer). Don't keep it with metal objects that might move around and short-circuit the terminals. Lithium ion batteries are not rated to operate at refrigerated temperatures, so let the battery sit outside the refrigerator for at least an hour before using it again. Lithium ion batteries oxidize least when they are stored at 40% charge. Never store a lithium battery at low voltage. Recharge batteries after storage.

There're a few steps, if followed, will come up with a very good battery working in real time space.
1. First of all you must have the most suitable Radio installed on your device, the latest radio made so far is the one i'm personally using and i found it really good, not only for battery timing but also for no incompatibility with certain native functions.
2. Secondly, open your dialer and write *#*#4636#*#* and click the call button. you'd be taken to a special menu. Click Phone Information and then press the menu button followed by clicking "more" in the menu. Now disable both the data and the data connection on boot. (It would disable all the unnecessary data flowing charges made through different services being used by your device)
3. Thirdly, Install Advance Task Killer and go into it's settings and set Auto Kill Level to "Crazy" and Auto Kill Frequency to "When screen off".
Voilla, you're done.
Enjoy a very good battery timing. Mine runs almost 43 Hours!

[Q] Change battery after calibration

Hi everybody!
i've got a little doubt about the battery calibration method and tool..so...i've done all the process(the one suggested by the user Ganymedes with the battery calibrator from the market) every time i flashed a new rom update(in this case the sandvold ICS),for calibrate the original 1400mAh desire battery, and also because my desire shutted down at around 15% battery remaining..and every time without any positive result..so i tried in many ways, and at the end i kept the battery as it comes out after all the times i tried to calibrate it...but now,i just bought a brand new high capacity mugen battery..the bigger one with 3200mAh,'cause the old one drained too fast..so,the question is..i've got to recalibrate the phone again,'cause i changed the battery?..i wish to precise that i haven't calibrated the battery after the last ROM update..so,what you think?'cause i read that the battery calibrator app will save and make permanent the battery stats..and i'm afraid that an old batterystats with the info from the stock battery is still saved..misreading the power of the new battery!
thanks for all the answers!
Is far as I know the calibration configuration is saved on the battery not on the rom.

So you need to calibrate it because you replaced the battery.
via xda app
Cycling the battery through one full charge and full dis-charge cycle should do the trick. I don't think a calibration tool will help much. Wiping battery stats is also useless.

WP7 new and old battery calibration, power readings and power expectations.

I believe that any WP7 user that uses two batteries on one WP7 device, totally messes up the OS battery readings , and battery power expectation.
I used to do that in the past on windows 6, and I used different batteries on same device with different capacity without any problems.
On WP7 this is not possible. At least not for me and my Omnia7 .
After short period of time, battery stats will become total broken and batteries wont work at all. OS Readings will make no sense at all and OS will shut down while batteries are showing 45% charge.
To make it worse , the only solution is to hard reset your device and make sure that no different batteries are ever used again.
I tested this with original batteries, other brands, different phones and always ended up with the same results.
After short time, you have to do a hard reset just to get the OS to re-read the correct power capacity.
Re-calibrating the battery with depleting methods or other 12 hour charging methods are not working and not healthy. Removing the battery and other woo-do tricks are also not working. I am aware about this thread but I doubt that this method does something useful, not to mention that you still have to do a hard reset and wipe everything.
Is there a way to force the OS to reset the battery data without hard resetting the phone?
At the moment , any battery that I use, shows 9 hours only on full charge. And those readings are totally wrong of course.
There should be some resetting tool or calibration tool for battery data and readings.
Thank you,
K
WP7.8 on developer unlocked, Omnia7.
I seen battery callibration data somewhere in the past, then I mean answer is yes. But I could not remember, where it was, probably somewhere in register. Sorry for spamming, but it is a next drop in the sea of errors of WP7 OS makers, that are very poorly repaired due to Microsoft restrictions. I have nothing against proprietary, closed system, but such it must contain no mistakes! I use two batteries with the same capacity, but OS understands good only one of them, second one is very often unreasonably wrong measured immediately after insertion.
Thank you for your answer.
I have 4 batteries. (2 oem and 2 no name,) All of them on full charge will show 7-8 hours max. Tried almost everything for almost a month but battery stats are totally broken. Looks like I am slowly approaching to my 5th hard reset just to fix this. I was hoping for some "reigstry or file type of fix".

may be \Application Data\Microsoft\BATSVC\records.dat is what you're looking for?
I remember crazy situation with a totally new WP7 device. Battery was quickly discharged and turned off in factory default settings (3G on + WiFi on + GPS on), but I needed to send one SMS urgently. I took battery, held her for a moment in my hands and returned to mobile. It was worked, I sent SMS and device turned off again. Everything seemed ok, but phone repeatedly restarted after connecting to the charger! I had to remove the battery and charge it from an external source, because too small voltage does not allow to run charging everytime after booting before total discharging! It is really Smart Phone.

ultrashot,
Thank you!
Steps I took:
Disconnect from battery charger.
Go to settings -> Battery saver. -> Remember your % and remaining time.
Battery Status: 100% remaining time: 9 hours.
Rename the file "records.dat" to "records.dat.bak", (with "wp7 root tools") File is located at " \Application Data\Microsoft\BATSVC\ ".
Turn off the phone, remove the battery, press all keys for 20 seconds just to make sure that no electricity is left at all.
Return the battery and turn on the phone.
Go to settings -> Battery saver.
Battery Status: 95% remaining time: 1 day 2 hours.
Thank you again!

Hello, Now that the trik is explained, it would be fun if anyone could do an app that does this automaticly.
