= Solved = Can you get a Rhodium to work like a Raphael in Japan? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi there!
I apoplogize if my Google-Fu is weak and something similar has been posted before, but I personally couldn't find it, so here it goes:
I am in a little bit of a tigh spot atm.
Here comes the sob story, feel free to skip this to get to the actual question at hand:
I am currently on Softbank in Japan, want to get a HTC smartphone (not the dumbed down stuff they try to sell you here) so the plan WAS as follows:
1. Get an unlocked Touch Pro
2. Get the Full Data Flat Rate
3. Setup the open.softbank connection, MMSLite and all the other good stuff posted here by guys who gave a total noob the confidence that it can be made to work
So the Touch Pro was ordered, the subscription changed (will be effective of September 11th - yeah, I know, ominous date *sigh), the neccessary .cab files downloaded and anticipation set in.
Today I got the bad news that the online store that sold me the Raphael was actually out of stock (despite the fact that it doesn't show up on their website, they confirmed the order and I made the payment last friday). After having an attorney in our company threaten them that he would have all their bank accounts frozen if they didn't refund me within an hour I got the cash back within 10 minutes, so no money lost.
BUT
As far as I can search, I cannot find an online store that will actually sell you a Raphael for less than 100.000 Yen or thereabouts, yet Rhodiums are in abundance and at an expectable price of 80.000 - 90.000 Yen (that is what I could dig up on short notice). So it looks as if I "have to" get a Rhodium, since I physically refuse to fork over that much money for a Raphael.
Now for the actual matter at hand for those who are busy:
From what I can tell the bright heads here have been able to get a Raphael to work near perfect in Japan (i.e. use the flat-rate properly, get MMS to work via MMSLite303, read and write Japanese etc.) BUT apparently the same cannot be said for the Rhodium from what I could gather with my possibly weak Google-Fu. The connection set-up seems to work but regarding MMS and Japanese input everything appears to be still under development. I know it will get fixed eventually, (still, I want to be able to confidently step up to the iSheep surrounding me and laugh in their face )
So what's the current status on getting a Rhodium to work the same way as a Raphael on Softbank in Japan?
Any help will be highly appreciated!
EDIT
Yes, it is possible. Got the phone yesterday, set up everything and it works like a charm. So if you are in the market for a Rhodium in Japan: Do it!
And once you're finishied, be nice and say thank you to all the people who racked their brains and originally came up with the solution and then put it into nice and easy .cab files like BeeGee_Tokyo, Shunsai, Larsuck, Asukal and many many more

Check my website. All I wrote there is at the moment working on my TOPAZ aka Diamond 2 under WM 6.1.
Should be no problem to apply the same to a Rhodium.

Yeah, BeeGee's site was pretty helpful to me (i'm using the rhodium in japan too btw).
i haven't gotten my first bill yet since independently changing from Softbank X01HT to an unbranded HTC Touch Pro 2 (i don't actually use internet on my phone anyway), but i'm pretty sure it will be no different than normal. i just popped in the sim, ran the softbank connection setup cab, and i have been able to send and receive MMS and SMS messages and phone calls no problem (well, setting up the Softbank MMS is a little intuitive).
it was a little tricky for me getting Japanese input/output to work, but i detailed my steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550605
there are a few other users in these forums somewhere in the same boat as us, and i think quite a few of them have gotten theirs working without much problem.

Thanks for all the great info!
@BeeGee_Tokyo: I am actually very aware of your website and the cool step-by-step guide it provides. Really understandable. Big *thumbs up* for taking your time to write it
@shunsai: Yupp, I also read your thread prior to posting. However, I got a little bit confused in the end since there was (at least for my n00bish self) no real conclusion how you can get everything regarding Japanese input to work properly. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the time and effort that went into it, but the results appear to be inconclusive. Especially since it ended in a hard reset, which afaik sets you back to your basic rom.
Ok, enough kissing up After doing a little bit of cross referencing between several threads and BeeGee_Tokyo's page I have a few questions left regarding the Japanese input. I hope I don't appear as kind of a thicko, but I'd like to know what I am getting myself into since this will be a first for me:
1. The .cab provided BeeGee_Tokyo's page for Japanese input seems to comprise Asukal's LetsJapanWM6 (not entirely sure about the name) and the Ooki Japanese Input. Is that correct? If not: Please correct me an I WILL edit this post.
2. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in Shunsai's thread regarding the interaction between the Ooki Input and the TP2 apart from something along the line of "Good, but not as good as a new piece of software could be" (briefly summarized, not quoted!). Anybody have any experience in that department?
What I would like to end up with when all is said and done is the following (rearding Japanese input):
- Be able to read Japanese
- Hardware keyboard still works for English/Romanji with all keys intact (Text prediction and/or XT9 are optional)
- Software keyboards to input Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji (don't really need it often, so using the stylus to input Japanese would be fine).
So in the end it boils down to this: Is there anybody who has successfully achieved the above on a TP2 with the .cab provided by BeeGee_Tokyo, i.e. LetsJapan and Ooki Input?
Again, thanks for all your help!

you are complete correct. I mixed Asukal's LetsJapanWM6 with Ooki Japanese Input. I love Ooki's solution, because it forces me to write Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji with the correct strokes

At least I was successfull Otherwise I would not share my solution
And another guy here in Japan contacted me and together we setup his Xperia X1 with my cabs.
And I setup my IT guys TouchPro with my cabs as well, and his keyboard is working for English/Romanji.
AND!!! ALL CREDITS FOR MY CABS GO TO THE CRACKS HERE ON XDA-DEVELOPER!!! All I did was putting together the pieces to an solution.

you've inspired me to clean up my thread. it seems that a lot of people passing by that thread didn't understand that i was finally able to figure out how to 1) be able to read japanese 2) write japanese 3) use both software and hardware keyboard to input japanese and english.
the hard reset you're referring to was just how my intial experimenting ended. the part after that (the highlights) is the actual steps/solution. but thanks, i realize now how unclear that was! LOL
i'll fix it in that thread later [fixed], but to do what you want to do on your TP2 you should do the following:
1. install Asukal LetsJapan6 and restart
2. install Asukal's IME_31J_FULL, but do not restart
3. install Asukal's Enable_IME and restart
that simple. romaji, kana, kanji, kensaku, tegaki (the handwriting recognition inputs) will all work. XT9/Predictive will be broken. And you will need to switch between かな カナ or 英数 on the soft keyboard to get the hardware keyboard to type in the language you want.

Okay, I'm so thouroughly convinced that I ordered the Rhodium today (should arrive on Monday) and plundered brando for some nice accessories (should arrive at the end of next week).
@shunsai: Ahhh ok, now I know what you were getting at. Thanks for the update here and on your thread!
But I'll probably try out BeeGee_Tokyo's .cab first and if that doesn't quench my thirst for Japanese input I'll give Shunsai's solution a shot. Reason? Shunsai's solution is far more than I assume I'll need at the moment and involves more than executing a .cab. Still, love that you figured it out and went through all the trouble associated with it.
Thanks to BeeGee_Tokyo and Shunsai (in order of appearance ), the crackers who figured it out in the first place and the community in general for being nice to a n00b.
I'll report the results of my efforts and once successful will mark the thread as "Solved" for the further reference of future eager-but-unsure Rhodium Owners!

Reading Japanese only
Am I correct to say that if I only want to be able to read Japanese, I only need to install Asukal's LetsJapan6?

I would say so from what I have read so far.
Optionally can follow the instructions on http://www.ookii.org/software/japaneseinput/font.aspx .
Admittedly, I still have to test all of the stuff in this thread myself once I get my Rhodium, but so far, I would say yes.

Deleted. No longer applicable. ;-)

T9 input method - *UPDATE*

Hello everyone.
Thanks to all those people offering their services as beta testers.
I have begun work on the T9 input method. I would like some help in designing a skin. This needs to be a .bmp file. I will send you the initial bmp I have used for testing, and you should use similar layout for the buttons.
I don't mind if the layout changes, as long as it is easy to use with fingers (not stylus).
The size of the bitmap, however, must not change. It should be 240 x 160.
The yellow area I included for two function buttons (ie, change word, and number mode) 1 will do a space, and 0 will do punctuation.
To the administrators - could you possibly stick the bitmap on the site somewhere, as I don't have a server to use for downloads?
Martin,
First of all, u can use my server for storage, i figure the files r small so it wont mather. just e-mail me the files, or just put in a zip, and i'll send u the link. second I like to see if i can come up with a nice design.
Yeah, no probs.
I've also realise the keypad used for the phone is exactly the right size for me. So If you want to reskin the phone (maybe relable some of the buttons if it would make using it easir), then that is fine.
Everbody,
Here is the file from Martin. http://www.stoelman.com/T9_sms.bmp
Ok people... we've come up with an initial design for the keypad, and I've done the initial work on the T9 input panel. I have a suitable skin, and will be working with this to create button positions.
This skin is not final, and may be changed as we work on the functionality, but when it has been finalised, I will be opening up for new skins to be created. It is anticipated that this will be configurable on the final release, so you will not need to be disappointed if yours isn't chosen!
I am now writing the business logic. I hope to get plenty of work done this weekend, and I'll keep you all informed of progress.
Thanks
Martin
Martin,
How's your project comming along? is it allready far enough for beta testing.
Unfortunately not yet. I'm currently waiting for some dictionary stuff. As soon as I have that, it can continue.
Regards
Martin
UPDATE
Just to update you. I have been in touch with tegic over the licensing of T9. We are currently discussing this.
I have to warn you, though, that because i have to license T9 from Tegic, there will be royalties to pay. I don't yet know the amount, but I'm guessing at about £15 per unit sold. In order to provide assurances to Tegic, the software will have to be licensed based on the IMEI of the target device.
I will keep you all informed of the progress of these negotiations, if they even get beyond this stage.
Big corporates
Nice idea, I have used the t9 on many phones for years.
Siemens c35 and ME45, Sony j3e, Nokia 6310i.
Would making something similar not just simply work? or simplifing the keypad in this way is totally owned by t9 ?
I look forward to a bit of beta testing...
I would like to find a way around it. But it's difficult to get hold of an 'ideal' word list that is compressed, contains 'appropriate' words of the right quantity. and is indexed. I can do the indexing if a good dic is found.
I could also look at alternatives - just awaiting some more communication from T9.
I have done something similar for Palm with graphitti (graphitti can be hell, too ;-)) and would offer u any help u need.

WM6 Installation Success poll

Hello all,
I recently purchased a Cingular 8525 and I'm really considering upgrading the phone's OS to WM6. I've successfully used the unlocker to unlock the SIM and made it SuperCID.
I did a search on this topic but really couldn't find anything that was in one spot....
I'm creating this poll for all those newbies (like myself who want to upgrade).
This poll is for any flavor of WM6....
Cheers to all...
Wow!!!!
It's pretty amazing that no one has bricked their phone while upgrading to WM6. As a newbie, I feel pretty confident upgrading this weekend...
I've printed up the guides and downloaded all the software...
I've decided to use the LVSW version.
Thank you to all for all your input and advice.
There are several threads with people bricking their phones (at least temporarily). Maybe after their experience they are too scared to come back here and answer the poll

That's exactly why I read the wikis and read the threads for 3 weeks before I even THOUGHT about upgrading. And even then I had to ask questions and sound like an idiot and sweat during the whole upgrade.
I originally went with LVSW and then with Black v1.2....I just couldn't resist.
Jim
I brick and can unbrick my tytn
Yes i try to upgrade my softbank with a dopod rom, for winmobil6 LVSW, and my phone brick after a 17% but reading all wiki, i can recover so is beautiful mobile 6, i'm happy with black edition 1.1 cyu
I know exactly what you're saying I've been reading the Wiki's and guides non stop in the evenings. My wife hates me at this point because I'm spending more time reading about the upgrade and asking questions than spending "Quality Time" with her
I guess, my fear is (like many of us newbies wanting to upgrade) bricking my $500 Cing 8525 and being out of warranty. I don't know about the rest of the gang here but 1/2 a grand is a lot of duckets
Quick question for you.... may I know why you decided to go from the LVSW flavor to the Black v1.2 flavor? Was the installation process the same?
Just curious....
Thanks

I can upgrade successfully without any major problem.
The only problem is while I am trying to restore the GPRS/MMS Setting, although I am using cab file for this network wizard but only can be done for 3G/GPRS but not for MMS...
Guys i want upgrade to WM6 but when i read the bricked section of ht WM6 upgrade i am holding back, i am unsing Dopod 838 Pro which is Hermes (HTC) and i have the following ROM upgrader (plpease look at the attached Photo). can some one please advice me if they have used this ROM for the upgrade of Hermes???
i will not want my oda to be a brick as its 3 cmonth old and still under warranty...
Hi truffle1234,
You may want to create a new thread asking your question. The intent of this thread is to find out the installation success rate for people who have already tried to upgrade to WM6.

Well...I guess after I successfully flashed LVSW without bricking my (almost) new 8525 I thought what the hell and flashed Black v1.2 on the spur of the moment...my wife says I have impulse control issues. But I'm glad I did. It seems to run smoother, quicker response and better handling of some of my 3rd part apps.
I've done ALOT of trial and error. I have hard reset my phone (of my own volition) 5 times over the past week. I'm a bit OCD and after trying out programs to see how I run it seemed like the memory went back up all the way. So I hard reset to start over again.
I finally have it working the way I like and the Black, from my low-level of experience, seems stable and more functional than the Palm I used t carry.
I have the following installed:
Weather to Go (working construction/realty I need accurate Wx)
BattMemory (I'm anal about checking program memory and its a small plug in)
O2Plus (great for hitting a button and seeing what apps are open)
Palm threated SMS (I hate the native SMS program on the 8525)
MORTGAGECalc (REALTOR, nuff said)
GoogleMaps (REALTOR, nuff said)
Batti (I like the top bar that shows charging status and level no matter what app I'm in
ClearTemp (cleans out settings and temp filed quickly)
VibraSwitch (allows me to switch between vib and sound a la Treo 650)
PTTFix (allows me to remap the PTT button)
I've tried some other apps that did not go so well...SPB, Mobile Shell worked well a few days then slowed everything down...I liked the tabs and the plug in but it kept slowing the system down...and a bunch of others.
I'm not a big media user so I don't need TCMP or any other cool multimedia gadgets so I kept it to what I need. I keep my laptop with me normally so I don't need to watch movies or do any of that stuff. Most of my business work is done on the laptop. I have avvenu (www.avvenu.com) on my desktop so I can pull any file from my desktop from my phone via IE, which is a nice feature.
I soft reset every morning when waking the system up and it runs alot smoother than my T650 did.
I've not missed a single call since getting the 8525, the Push email is alot better than 3rd party apps for Palm, the 3G rocks where I am, and I get better reception. On my T650 I would get 1-2 bars or no service sitting in my house but with the 8525 I get 2-3 3G bars as a rule.

Check out the Hermes Section and look for "Palm SMS" thread or something like that. It goes over the MMS settings quite in depth.
just follow the guide and it should be fine. I am a beginner to this too but do some research and reading and follow the GUIDE! the guide is excellent!
Well everybody, just wanted to give a brief update that I was able to upgrade my Cingular 8525 to WM6 No problems on this end. Would definitely recommend the update to all.
Which flavour did you upgrade to??
Black is back in
I had no problems with either Black 1.1 or 1.2. Upgrades went like a charm. Not waiting for Black 2.0
Used Mr Vanx's guide to upgrade my HERM200 to the LVSW edition (25/3 version). I encountered no problems at all.
Device seems to work fine, though in Surinam we don't have all the advanced mobile phone features as in europe (like gprs etc).

Softbank X01HT - Internet Access Connections post 6.1 ROM

Good day all,
Firstly I thank all of you who know their way around these devices and have helped me get my rather sucky Japanese Softbank phone to make sense, look better and work better. Excellent work.
Now I've come to the point here search results are not doing me any good with getting the 3G internet connection and MMS settings working. I've found many good guides on getting the MMS sorted and setting the access server however I think they are now outdated and the password, being now built into the JP default win v5 ROM is not the one listed on the guides I've been mining.
Therefore I ask for some assistance, if ye be so kind.
Has anyone here in JP got the Softbank internet connection sorted after going win v6.1?
THanks and best regards,
Todd Mackintosh
MMS is proving difficult. As you probably know there is a really super program called MMSLite, but it doesn't function under 6.1 for some strange reason. Here is a thread dedicated to *****ing about this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365760
Softbank settings in order to take advantage of the flat-rate Tsukaihoudai discount thing are still working. Here is the old thread detailing how to bring those about:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298031
Any questions, just post in those two threads. They are pretty old, but there are still people watching them - or perhaps I am the only one...
Sorry for the late reply. I've been out of the country for some time and my HTC is now ready for an overhaul.
Will get on it.

Hermes Keyboard Map

I flashed to the htc release wm 6.1 but accidentally did a foreign version. I flashed it again with the US release and it works fine except the symbols E, D, X, W, S, Z, Q, and A are not working correctly. They input a different symbol.
I went to do the keyboard fix...
"Goto the following registry entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.
The default value of English ROM is 20409, and Chinese ROM is 20404 (both are in hexadecimal)."
...and the value was already 132105 (20409 in decimal)
I went ahead and changed it to 132104 and then back to 132105 but it is still not working.
Is there such a program that would allow me to easily re-map the keyboard?
Any help is appreciated!
schaps advanced config 2
Thanks!
I ended up just finding this fix a little further down the page...
"Issue: When applying a non-cingular ROM to an 8525 its default keyboard is different than the 8525.
The Fix:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
"Layout"=263177 (decimal)"
...it works, but now the keyboard will not light up.
Is this an unrelated problem?
How do I fix it?

No it doesn't fix the problem, any other place in the registry do you know....? Thank you!!
Apologies for jumping onto this thread, seems the best place really.
I've just bought a HTC Hermes, and it has WM 6.1 installed, using it on the Orange UK network.
My only problem is, when pressing ! I get @, and when pressing Y i get Z.
I've ensured all language and keyboard options are set to UK, however I just don't seem to be able to change the keyboard map to full UK, although physically the keyboard is correct, just not the SW side of things.
I was just wondering if someone could help me, if you let me know where I need to look, i'll be able to help you, just not used anything MS based for the past 4 years, so its a bit of a foreign object now.
Thank you,

Hi there,
I'm actually new to Smartphones, and the Tytn / Hermes was going cheaply online (ebay unfortunately), but the phone itself is excellent and is easy to use from back in my windows days.
Most is familiar, but seeing how far Windows can go before I want to switch to Linux.
Where would I get the ACT? Is it downloadable from here as a development tool, or is it online needing payments etc?
Thank you,
greee, u can get it at schaps website here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070&highlight=advanced
galaxys,
I've downloaded the ACT, along with a pocket msn, and neither will install.
Do i need to put them somewhere for it to install correctly? Just i'm only getting access to my memory card.
Thank you,

Both should install on main memory.
Are you getting an error when the don't install?
So far kareem, i'm getting an XML output for the ACT, and for Pocket MSN it reports:
Setup Is Not a valid Pocket PC application.
With the ACT, i've no option to install, although the setup file I have was meant to be a cab file.
Thank you,
Scratch all that, got both PocketMSN and ACT installed today! For some reason the keyboard was in German, so switched that back!
Thanks guys!
Now got to find uber cool stuffs for my phone...
what's the value for an azerty keyboard

for gods sake, why no one is helping me-how can I tweak the GPS-please someone help

Hey Guys
I am using the following
Radio: 4.49
Rom: WWE 6.5
Operator: T Mobile
I have advanced config, and I saw a thread about tweaking the gps, please can someone explain to me in detail how to do that. Under GPS in advanced config it was mentioned to set log file to No logging , but everytime i chose no logging when i restart the device it goes back to \windows\GPSlogFile.txt
it was also mentioned to delete the old and current log file how can I do that.
Are those tweaks applicable to win mobile 6.5
Look for the Cabs,Tips,Tweaks etc thread stickied at the top of this section
I really feel annoyed by when people tell me look at this or that thread when from my post you can tell that I already did that. I tried to follow the instruction on the tweaks, cabs thread, but got stuck, so please why in this forum specifically every time I ask a question I get these insulting replies.
I think I will abandon my dam HTC TOUCH pro2 and go back to HTC TOUCH HD forum since at least there I get answers. I am really pissed now.
For gods sake respect that we are at least trying to learn, and stop being rude to us, by showing us that we are stupid
I don't know what to tell you. When i got it it took a lot to get a lock so i updated the radio from the official site, installed SeaSGEE (do a search), downloaded the content, used the gps registry tweak ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Rhodium/GPS Tweaks ) and the lock is under 2 minutes (although i believe the lock time is horrible compared with the samsung omnia which was 15 seconds).
Hope it helps.

As far as I can tell .. transcriber and letter recognizer do not come with 6.5 anymore they took it out I Loved it .. but I guess noone used it. )
I have tried installing it .. on 6.5 with NO LUCK ;( If you find a way message me too !
Just found this : http://pocketnow.com/thought/goodbye-transcriber
Handwriting recognition has always been a feature of Windows Mobile that went unrivaled by most other smartphone operating systems. Admittedly, most people either didn't use the feature or didn't know that it existed. About a year ago, we did a tutorial on how to use the features of Transcriber to get fantastic handwriting recognition.
The upcoming HTC HD2 has a capacitive screen, meaning that traditional styli cannot be used with the device. Because of this, HTC has stripped out the Transcriber option, as seen below from the HD2 ROM. Also of note is that there is now only one keyboard option, which is HTC's Touch keyboard. Gone is the small stylus keyboard that we've come to know for many generations of Windows Mobile.
With Transcriber gone, will you miss it?
You don't need to take it personal and get upset.
You should at least consider that the issues you're asking about are not common....so the number of people who know or care about the answer is small. If they were common issues then you'd find many other posts stating the same problem. Do you?
If you've followed the suggestions and the suggestions don't work for you, then what more can anyone say? How much time are people supposed to devote to troubleshooting a problem that only you have?
If you scan down the list of threads, those threads that have 0 responses are either questions that are odd/unique/unknown or have been answered so often that there's a sticky with the answer at the top of the forum...which indicates that the poster isn't even trying to help themselves.
BTW: If I had the answer to your technical issues I'd offer it, but I don't.

If I read the site you linked to correctly, L3V5Y says the transcriber is a registry setting, but is still in the OS. Anyone know what registry setting would enable it?
I just checked my Tilt2 and it still has transcriber. If you click on the Keyboard icon, it brings up the options. Go to other input methods, and transcriber is one of them. I don't know of any custom roms that have the transcriber, but my Tilt2 rom has it. I haven't flashed anything to my Tilt2 yet, but will be doing so soon. I have flashed a lot of roms to my old Tilt and Fuze, but am really looking to get a stock ATT rom with the BS bloat taken out. I have yet to look at Da_g's, but will be doing so shortly.
And, by the way, I've been a member for about three years, but my post count is low because I do search for things. when I have asked a question, I typically have gotten great responses. The "go search" people are usually smug people with no knowledge, but have seen others write it, so they do too.
My GPS wakes up in <10s in clear skies when it's been on somewhat recently, perhaps 1 minute if it's got stale data.
If your GPS takes forever to warm up, there's something wrong with it. As for the registry entries, you're probably just doing it wrong. Besides, there's zero need for it anyway.

What ver of Mobile you have 6.1 ??
In Mobile 6.5 - If I goto Keyboard icon, it brings up the options. I have NO "other input methods "
sad to say .. But true
--------------------------------------edit
Ok .. I am a dumbass I installed Transcriber .. and true it does not give you the option of choosing it from the optons menu ..
However if you find transcriber.exe in the windows dir .. you can run it and it does work !
So I made a link and added it to the startup dir in windows and it works just fine now
Just a warning .. if you change to the full or compact qwerty it closes transcriber and you will have to restart it to make it work again :/

My Tilt 2 (6.5) offers Transcriber, Keyboard, Letter Recognizer, and Block Recognizer. Sorry your ROM is crippled.

I have a tilt2 and both transcriber and letter recognizer (my favorite) are enabled and the tilt 2 does use wm 6.5. i went back to the stock rom after flashing the energy rom because it didn't have it, i just prefer features over speed. i vow not to flash another rom unless it has full handwriting recognition, i for one use it a lot more than the keyboard.

Hi hykhleif
I think that you have misunderstood the ethos of this forum. This is a developers forum not a users forum. There is a "Questons and Answers" section in the General section of the forum which you'll see at the top of the main forum page. You may get more detailed help by posting questions there.
I think that if you want "user" advice generally this is potentially not the best place to look but a forum on the HTC website. I think that www.expansys.com has some good user forums as well.
I hope you get your device working to your satisfaction.
Best wishes

Mods,
Not that I am a religious freak or anything like that, not that I object to those who choose to believe in that sort of stuff...
For the record I would like to convey my objection to the tone err attitude err approach err demanding nature of the comments err are we here on this planet to serve this person err is he a reincarnated faro? I move that this thread be removed and our faro friend be given some lessons/guidance on how to communicate in a none aggressive (or pigheaded) way...
We all get frustrated... we all have people in our lives that represent a challenge... our girlfriends/boyfriends all get headaches from time to time... so lets keep a lid on the aggressive nature particularly in this our very fine forum...
PATIENTS is a VIRTUE.

simply i apologize to my tone, i was not aggressive but frustrated.
