Just one more shot, go to active sync/windows mobile device center and see if you have "enable usb connections" box checked? that's in archive>connection settings

Its possible its a faulty wire. My mom and I had regular USB, and they were horrible. We got docs for them and they sync alot better.

Bruv, I have your same phone (made in taiwan) HTC s621 and I don't use the original USB cable, I use a motorola cable...I even used sometimes a digital camera phone usb cable (since some of them are standard) and sync everytime with no issue at all. Try what I posted before, if not reinstall activesync in your PC.

USB is not working anymore

Hi !
I have the following Problem.
Charging via USB is working and also the headest, but icannot sync via usb or do anything else.
What can i do ?? Wheres the Problem ?
Question; Are you using a charger in the car?
Yes the original T-Mobile charger
Well I guess that must be the bad guy.. do you plug your phone in the charger before turning on the engine? That causes higher voltage peaks which can damage the USB-circuit.
Since your using the original charger supplied you should send your device in for repair.
OK, thanks for your answers.
What's the good way for charging the device in a car?
Thanks
The safest thing to do is to start the engine before plugging in your device.
Here is another thread about current overflow with the Tmobile car charger: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1686041&postcount=10
RE-INSTALL
Try re-installing active stink on your main computer.
Maybe that will sort it.
Hi i've the same problem. When the phone is turned on in the bootloader it doesn't say anything on the left bottom of the screen (normaly there was standing something like "USB"). and now its blank? ActiceSync isn't working eather and WM5 storage doesn't work. I only use the original USB cable and charger from the phone. when i plug in the usb it starts charging. but no usb connection.
Please help?
same problem as above, same as my Artemis, blown USB board. If its still under a year old send it for repair. Mine is over a year old now, so i cant get it fixed (unless i pay)
I just called T-Mobile Dutch, they will send him on repear. this is my second mdac3 in one year that needed to be send on repear. I hate it when i need to mis my telephone. hopefully when it comes back from repair it's fixed.
So if you got the same problem that USB is not working, you need to send it on repair. because you can do nothing about it
(fixes typefaults)

Yeah, but before i can send him on repair, i need to flash the original rom back on the phone, but how can i do this without an activesync connection? is there a way to do it from the SD-card? Please help me, otherwise i cannot send my device on repair. thanks in advanced

yes the correct way is u start the engine then plug ANY ADDITIONAL instrument so that the output of the power outlet in your car will be from the dynamic distributor and not from the battery directly!!
I have the same problem-can't connect via Usb anymore.does anyone know how much the repair will cost?My Orbit is out of warranty.Or is there any other workaround fo the problem?

Just a quick one...is this a genuine HTC Diamond or a china clone/knock off like this http://www.multicellphone.com/diamond-j6-htc-touch-diamond-clone/ or http://www.itechnews.net/2008/07/15/diamond-j6-touch-diamond-clone/
just asking because I have seen at least one of these sold on ebay (AU) for over $400 !!
If its genuine then a hard reset cannot hurt, followed up with a connection to pc via ActivSync 4.5 best to run straight into pc, no hubs etc.
And another thought sometimes you need to go into settings/connections/usb and untick "allow advanced" box.

HTC Excalibur not recognized by XP

so, when I connect my excalibur to my PC it shows up under USB Devices as an unknown device, I will show pictures once the phone is done resetting, now I was just going to RMA it but I only spent $100 on the phone itself.
First the lady over the phone tried to convince me not to RMA it and just said "oh well just put things on the [SD] card if you cannot connect to your computer."
Then after arguing for 30 min they want me to pay to ship it back, pay to ship the new one here only after I had already spent money to expedite the shipping when I originally ordered the unit (not to mention I had to wait another week as it was because they were "out of stock" B$), and I only get the subtotal back, so a Month later I will have spent about $180 on this phone, F*** that.
Few extra things: In bootloader mode I can get the unit to be recognized so that I can put on a new ROM, so I did that and I still cannot connect the unit to my PC. Also i tried this on a different PC as well. I can't remember if I left anything out......oh yeah and I did change the connection under USB to PC (even after Rom format). If there is anything else you might be able to think of or come up with this would be appreciate.
Specs:
Windows XP SP3
ActiveSync 4.5
S620(that won't connect)
Also:I am going to trying Vista and 7 x86 to see if either will work but if there are any suggestions please do so to help.
Sorry if I keep saying "Unit" instead of "Excalibur" or "Dash" it's a habit that I picked up from working at Geek Squad :S
since you know your usb cable is good, uninstall and reinstall activesync, it happens to me sometimes when i get the three audible dings instead of the two when i connect my device.
welll.....
I did that too, I uninstalled active sync, reinstalled it. No go, then tried it on the other computer with a fresh install of active sync with nothing paired to it or anything and that's how I got it up to re-flash to ROM(only in bootloader)....
Update: Will not be recognized by XP, Vista, or 7......soooooo it's gotta be the phone

Why not try using WM5torage set to SD Card 'mode'? If that won't work, then it is a sign that maybe the USB component on the phone is damaged

suggestion?? have you tried to connect via bluetooth? and is your cable a sda cable of just a standard 5pin usb/mini-b cable. I had previously purchased a usb/mini-b cable for a blackberry and it worked with my dash for about a week then it stopped working, i couldn't sync on any computers all i got was you described; an unknown device. I went to tmobile and got a SDA/MDA data cable (the end it actually shaped like the phone plugin not the mini-b shape) and since then i have had no issues with it. its worth checking out at least.
seee
he actually game me some advice , thank you sir. I will try because the one they sent me was a mini-B USB adaptor that said it was compatible, I am going to see if I can get my hand on a actual HTC cable, any suggestions on where to get a legit one?

just head into a tmobile store they can not resell returned parts in cell phones so any data cables that come with a phone can not be resold, this means that they are legitamitly extras and they should be able to give you one free of cost. if not they are about $20 new

Try a different usb cable, different usb port, reboot pc and try a different pc. if none if these fix it it is the TP2 but to check if hardware or software you may need to do a hardreset.

I have a tmo tp2 im using right now i looking to get rid of it only because im on att and cant use 3g with the tmo phone.
dont have n e pix yet but its in really good condition. i have it in the silicon case bought from tmo and selling it with a 2gb micro sd. my father had a warrenty exchange right b4 he gave it to me. shoot me a pm if ur interested
This same exact thing happened to me on my Touch Pro 1. It just stopped working. I even called to get RMA info, but never got around to sending it back.
Then suddenly one day, it started working again. I have no idea why. One thing that I did notice though was that the contacts seemed to not work so well... like, if I pushed the cable to one side or another, I could get it to make contact... but eventually it started working just fine without any issues.
It's still one of the world's most compelling mysteries. It will unfortunately never be solved, since I have switched to a TP2.
Same exact issue as mine. I had to return mine. The new one worked perfectly. The reason I think mine went out was a 3rd party charger. Did you happen to use a 3rd party charger to charge your phone?

It's your cable. Go to Radio Shack and buy their $26 micro-USB cable. I tried stock USB cables from Samsung and Palm on several different computers and consistantly got the "unrecognized USB device." As soon as I switched to a better cable, every single computer that couldn't recognize my Epic before, now recognizes it every time I connect.

If these don't work, then find and install "pdanet" (without the quotes)..
Select samsung and you're golden. This was the only way I could get my 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate machine to recognize my device.
If this still doesn't work, go to Radio shack and get the nice cable (like was mentioned above)... I have one and it works like a champ.
I hope this helps

Again, its the cable. I just verified it again by plugging in my stock Samsung cable and got the "Unrecognized USB device" warning. I DO NOT get that with the Radio Shack cable. I can't promise you that the cable you are getting from eBay will be any better. If it doesn't work, then its just another crappy cable. However, I can promise you that the Radio Shack cable will work.

Well the good news is you can charge your phone with all of the cables you got and the shipping was free. Otherwise, I'll bet you get the same problem with the micro-usb cable. You get what you pay for...maybe you got lucky. The Radio Shack cable was $26. Way too much to spend for a stinkin' USB cable, but I finally threw in the towel and spent the money. Fortunately, every machine I plugged it into recognized it immediatley.
