Dead Corrupt Micro SD Controller? - General Accessories

I have a dead micro sd card that I'm more then certain the Controller has burnt out. I was going to try to replace the controller with another but am having no luck finding the same make/model. Two questions.
1.Does size matter? I can only find a few 16gb cards and don't want to spend that much. Could I use the controller from a smaller say 1gb card?
2.Class... As you may know there are different classes of SD card that characterize the read write speeds. The dead card is a class 2 controller. Again I cannot find a SD card with a class 2 controller. Can I use a Class 6, or any other? Thought I'd ask before I try.
Thanks for your time,
B

SD Card and headphones

I have few questions about BA. First: what is the biggest memory card that can be used in this model? Second: can i use normal (not original) microjack headphones with BA?
P.S. Sorry, should be in accessories, by bad.
To my knowledge, any SD-card will work. That means any real SD up to 2 GB.
Larger cards are either outside the SD-card specs or SDHC, both won't work in a Blue Angel.
Dirk
when i got my universal, there was a 4gb sd (non-hc) with it and i also tried it with the BA for compatibility. it actually worked. so, maybe if you try before you buy, you have the chance to purchase a 4gb sd card, that is compatible with the BA. but with 2gb card(s) you can't go wrong as to my knowledge there are no 2gb sdhc cards or by any other means incompatible cards.
about the headphones there are some threads in the accessories section, that explain, why it won't work, like -=this=- for instance.
thanks for help
EDIT: i've asked some BA users and they said that they are using 4GB non HC cards ... and i found that model but it was rly hard... hope it will work...
I also have a 4gb card for the last two years and it works fine
I am using a regular SD with capacity of 4gb and an adaptor so I can use a regular earphone
cheers mate!
What make are your 4GB sd cards?

What class of Micro SD card is the Tmo tp2 rated to use?

I got a sandisk 8gb class 2 sd card. the first thing i tried to do was flash a ROM off it. it worked. before using a pny 4gb class 4 sd it wouldnt pick up the image. is the tp2 rated to use class 2 cards? or is the brand?
Its probably the format of your Micro SD Card, to do flash Image from SD Card you need the format to be FAT32. Just format your Micro SD Card to FAT32 if you haven't.
You should be able to flash after formating.
Hope this helps.
Kenichi.
i didnt format my 8gb at all left it alone. the 4gb that i did format to fat32 wouldnt work no matter what lol not a big deal.
I ask because because cameras and mp3 players are rated to use a class of sd cards. for instance your camera might be rated to use class 6 so if u use a class 2 or 4 it wont write/read as fast as it could.
So my question is what if any class is the tp2 rated to use?

I've used a Class 6 16GB card since the day I got my phone 8 months ago and works fine....so it's certainly compatible with Class 6.

Anyone using the Transcend 32GB Class 4 MicroSD card?

I bought this card from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-mic...YX8U/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1322469285&sr=8-5
Although I've noticed my write speeds when transferring 700mb-4gb type files only to be 2.32MB/sec. Reviews on amazon show that others are getting 4MB/sec...
no... but i saw this browsing the web... http://www.adorama.com/IDSMICSD32G.html?utm_source=ET&utm_medium=TransactionalEmail&utm_campaign=2point0Product1 its cheaper...and the site has great reviews...
I have the same card and my speed is around 4.2MB s. Have you try testing the speed of your card on a PC?
You can also try to format the card in the PC. I've seen it helped with my other micro sd card for the Motorola Photon.

how should i format it, in FAT32? i formatted it with the phone after i got the card.
i also notice that if i transfer files while in clockwork mod recovery, it'll transfer at 3.5-4MB/sec, but back to only 2.35MB/sec when booted up.
Yeah just format it to fat32. You can also try "sd formatter" program for windows.
Have you tried the Android app "sd card tester" to test the card speed? Do that test first to see if the problem is indeed with the micro sd card.
From my experiences with micro SDHC in the Nook Color, there is no substitute for SanDisk cards. Their class 4 card is faster than everyone else's class 10s.

Just to clarify this fact, as it depends what you use the SD card for.
If you are running an Operating System from the SD card Sandisk have been found to have very fast random read/write speeds, but if you're recording video etc a Class 10 is better. The reason is an OS needs to write and read data from all over the card but recording video writes sequentially.
If you're not running the OS from the card, a higher class of any quality brand card will serve you better. If you are running the OS from the card, like many of us are with our Nook Colors (and lovin it), get a Sandisk Class 4.

[Q] SD card. How fast is a waste?

How fast is the OG Epic's SD card interface?
I am planning to give Link2SD a try. I will buy another SDXC card for this purpose. I do not want the SD card to be the speed bottleneck. But there is no point spending the extra $$$ on wasted SD card speed. How fast is the actual SD card interface on this phone?
Probably this has been discussed before, but I do not see it in the specs.
Thanks in advance.

(512gb microsd) will it work? (wishful thinking?)

And yes I have tested a sandisk 128Gb micro sd card in my xenfone 2..."

As far as I know there is NO 512gb micro sd card available for purchase.... I would believe it to be fake...
It's in this line here - "with the way the card is made and formatted it may hold varying storage from card to card. Errors may be experienced once the maximum capacity of the memory card has been reached."
In other words, if you can't hold more than 2 gb on it that's your problem and we hold no responsibility... Jerks out looking for suckers...
n this is why i ask questions before i do anything lol. so then is 128 the current size thats legit then? and which brand is more sturdy aka less likely to corrupt/fail
ASUS Zenfone 2 supports up to 128GB but only FAT32 format.
Sincerely
ASUS_USA
@Asus_USA are sd's pre setup with fat32? or would i have to put it in an adapter n reformat to fat32
does it have to b sdxc? or can it be a regular sd
previous question: safest brand to go with?
If SD card cant be detected then you may need to use an adapter to format to FAT32
Zenfone 2 supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC, with speed class up to Class 10
Unfortunately we dont have a specific brand to recommend

I had 2 Lexar 633x 128GB U1 cards fail on me so I'd say Sandisk 128GB U1

exfat supported... I never change the format.
Fat32 has 4gb file restrictions, I have 8gb+ files there...
NTFS NOT natively supported.
Recovery however needs 32gb or less or Fat32 formatted card to install updates if you download the OTA from here.
Cheers...
Hi, you can purchase 512gb micro sd cards inexpensively around $20 ea. from OUS sites legally and with assurances. I used aliexpress. I put one in my samsung avant 4 4 2 from tmobile, and it seems work. I also put in my older samsung, ExhibitII, also tmobile, with gingerbread but it seems that version cant handle the memory volume. I guess size does matter.
