I cannot control the volume of Streaming Bluetooth Audio.... :( - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth receiver in my car.
Once i pair either one to my Touch Pro 2, i noticed that raising/lowering the volume on my HD2 does not affect the audio what so ever(unless i put it on mute).
The music sounds very loud and distorted, and i cant control the volume either way...Anyone else run into this issue? How can i solve it?

That's normal. You need to adjust the volume at the receiving end.

I have the exact same problem. Not sure why as when I pair up to my speakers, the phone tells me it cannot control the volume, yet it worked fine on my "Touch Pro" (the 1st one) and my Kaiser. Not looked for a solution, because its not much of an issue for me really.

But the problem is that, the audio being streamed from the HD2 is so loud and distorted, that i have to turn it down(but i cant).
So even if i turn it down on the receiving end, the distortion is still there.
With my old samsung omnia, i was able to turn the music up or down from the phone...I dont understand why this isnt possible with the Touch Pro 2.
The music coming from my phone is unlistenable. The distortion ruins the audio. Which really sucks, because i spent $300 on a car reciever with bluetooth!
There has to be a solution! Come on XDA!

Try turning it down on the phone first? Or get a player that uses it's own volume control instead of the system volume (I believe Mort Player and Nitrogen will do this).

Same problem here!!!
No volume control at all on TP2, and volume of music cant be changed through the system volume control either

I have a bluetooth connection to my motorcycle intercom system. I had the same problem, sort of.
I installed Conduits Pocket Player, and use the equalizer to bring down the level of the Bluetooth. That worked well enough for what I needed to do.

I read somewhere else on the forum here that this issue is attributed to the Widcomm Buetooth stack on our phones. Whenever I connect my headset to my phone or my laptop, I receive a warning that the volume must be adjusted on the output device, and cannot be adjusted on the phone/computer. It may be related to the poor support for AVRCP.

ok, so it seems that this wincomm bluetooth stack or whatever SUCKS. You're right....I guess the only work around i guess is a player that doesnt use the system volume, like coreplayer.
Coreplayer is great for movies, but for playing mp3's i would prefer Slide 2 Play.
Havent tried nitrogen yet though.
Does a mp3 player exist that is similar to slide 2 play, but doesnt use the system volume of the phone?

I too am not able to use many of the bluetooth audio accessories such as my jabra headphones, desktop speakers and my indash audio system. None of which work as they did with my Kaiser. This was supposed to be an upgrade to my Tilt and it doesnt even support the OLD protocals that were common 2 years ago?? Im seriously considering switching to blackberry. Anyone intrested in a nearly new Tilt 2. Goodbye htc (high tech crap)

THis is a problem with the bluetooth stack, just email HTC so they can get a patch for this. or microsoft because they are the ones that control what stack it gets.
this Goes for the HD2 and others too

A2DP with TCPMP?

Too many acronyms?
OK, so I got me some nice little bluetooth headphones, the iPhono mini things from bluetake. I'm digging them.
Only problem is that TCPMP doesn't fancy piping its music over bluetooth, although WMP happily will. This is pretty pants, since most of my music is AAC, which WMP naturally won't play.
Also, while we're here, even in WMP the pause/skip buttons on the headphones are having no effect. It's kind of jittery too. Man, what?
So, does anybody have any ideas? I gather from searching that many people do use bluetooth headphones, and there was even one instance of someone saying they do so via TCPMP regularly.
I'm using a HTC Magician (1.12 rom) with the url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33532&highlight=a2dp]BCHS bluetooth stack/url], maybe I need a different stack? I gather there are a few...
Maybe if I upgrade to the 1.13 rom? Or maybe a different bluetooth stack? I don't know :/
I've never tried to use my BT headset to listen to music with my phone, but on my laptop, the headset has to be paired and activated in 'My bluetooth places. Then I have to select it as the audio device to use in control panel->sounds and audio devices, then restart whatever media player I'm using.
Good idea, but I tried restarting the apps already. I even did a soft-reset and made pairing the very first thing I did when it had finished booting.
Itech a2dp
Just bought some Itech clip s35 BT thingy, lets you put your own headphones in.
I put my universal on my desk. Went to the next office. About 10 meters away, through thin walls and next to 7 servers, its still 100% crispy sound.
I turn around and it stops, turn back and its back again. 10 metres! Through walls!!
Connected to my Sony MDR EX71 mini squishys and Im sealed in sound wirelessly.
I cannot fault these in any way shape or form.
For sale now on amazon. £30

Ooops
I forget to say that as this is paired as wireless stereo in my bluetooth devices, everything comes out this headset.
TCMP
Games
Phone
Media Player
I paired it and it seemed to completely take the place of my wired headset. As if it is plugged in.
With the voice dial activated using the button on the headset, I dont have to get my phone out of its case to listen and make recieve calls. I have not tested to see if TCMP cuts out and comes back in.....
My suggestion would be to find out if there are different types of A2DP, as my device seems to have this device as default audio output. Perhaps this is just a windows mobile 5 thing though.....
I am going to upgrade my old Magician with a bluetooth stack which supports A2DP. If I do this sometime soon, ill let you know my results.
Sorry for the apparent topic change.

Ha ha! I'm all "Wait, how the hell is he doing all that? Maybe he has WM5?" and I'm pretty sure you're right. I've been trolling this place for the last few days on all the Magician + A2DP info I can. Seems as though only WMP will stream audio over bluetooth via A2DP with that upgraded stack.
I find that CorePlayer works great w/ A2DP.
I just got MOTO s9's today, I am able to hear music when listing to Coreplayer/tcmp but the Play, pause, next buttons don't work.
You can map the headset buttons to control playback with Hotkeys in CorePlayer the same way you map hard keys on the device.
If you want TCMP to play over a2dp when it doesn't automaticly do so you must go to the options menu, then audio options, then select Null audio in the audiodriver section. Press play, obviously you won’t hear a thing. Pause the music or video and go back to the audiodriver section then select wave output. Press play And voila you have bluetooth audio. This does the trick for me as it doesn’t play through headset automaticly.
hope this helps you.
Find the BTAudio.cab application if it works with your device.
Pair your device with 'JETware Mobile Extension 1.31' & configure it. Also do make the device in Bluetooth Discoverable mode, this will certainly help in streaming the music. Better try CorePlayer 1.2.4.

Bluetooth Headphones Weird Connection Issue

I have not seen this before, and currently only happens with my Tilt 2 (Stock WM 6.5 ROM). My old Cingular 8525 and AT&T Fuze (Stock AT&T ROM) continues to work just fine.
What happens is I activate bluetooth on my Tilt 2, pair up my Jaybird Gear headset (JB-200) and activate it for "Hand free" and "Stereo Audio". Everything is connected and looks good. Now as soon as I turn on any audio player (e.g. Pocket Player, Core Player or Media Player) the "Stereo Audio" connection immediately drops away and the sound comes through my phone speaker. The "Hands free" portion remains active and works just fine for calls. I've tried multiple ways to get the Stereo portion to to stay connected, with or without AVRCP control, and nothing seems to work.
I tried searching here on XDA and Googling this problem but either my particular combination of headset and phone is not being used anywhere else or it's just me.
Any ideas? The only thing I haven't done is a hard boot. I may just go to a AT&T store and try another phone just to see if it works there or not.
Update: Looks like the same thing happens even on the display models over at the AT&T Store. I guess that means it's not my phone per sey. I guess other possible option is that these particular headphones are not compatible with WM 6.5. or there's a glitch in this particular bluetooth stack. Can the WM 6.1 stack be used in WM 6.5?
Update
After talking with Jaybird Gear it appears that they have also become aware of this bluetooth issue.
Jaybird Support:
"Thank you for contacting Jaybird online support. Yes, Their is a compatibility issue we recently became aware of with the At&t Tilt. There is no way for the present time to fix the problem. We are working on it with AT&T to try and find out what the problem is and why that specific upgraded model has this problem.......It is a software problem with the Tilt so most likely they will be able to correct the problem with the next upgrade that AT&T releases"
This could mean a long wait if we're expecting AT&T to fix this problem.
I don't know if this applies to only Jaybird Gear headsets or not.
I post this here because if there's any community out there who could figure this out it is XDA.
Seems like other folks might be having some problems as well.
Here and Here
Sprint Touch Pro2 has stereo bluetooth wierdness too.
The Bluetooth settings show the Motorola HT820 as Stereo Audio and Hands-free in green, and the stereo audio from Coreplayer plays through as high quality, but I can't use the buttons on the phone to move to the next track, stop, or start the audio. Instead it starts the audio on the Sprint Music Player and doesn't affect Coreplayer. That's not how it worked on my Sprint Touch.
I have the same issue on my VZW TP2 with my Plantronics Voyager 855. Didn't happen on 6.1, but it happens on 6.5. Soft reset usually gets the audio flowing over the AD2P again, although I once had to do a hard reset to get it back. That was a drag. Between this and the limited AVRCP support, and the poor car integration performance on the TP2, I'd say the BT stack on this device needs some real work!
I just want to add in that I'm also searching out a solution to the same type of problem. My combination is is AT&T Tilt 2 using a Jabra Dog Tag (BT3030) headset. I had no problems with my old Tilt 1, but now the sound remains perfect but the control buttons on the headset are funky. The track buttons bring up my today screen, the play/pause does nothing but scan through all songs if held down, and everything gives me the "bluetooth volume control not supported" message...
Lots of strange bluetooth issues with this phone. My Blueparrott b250 headset will attach just fine but then the volume is WAAY too loud. If I press the volume down on either the phone or the headset it goes to almost silent. Press down again it's slightly louder but still quiet. Down again and loud but on the quiet side of where I like it. Down again and it's silent. Strange. Also, there's no separation of phone volume and headset volume. If I get it close to what I want then the phone it too quiet. I'm just hoping one of the geniuses around here solves this soon.

Playing music over a regular bluetooth headset with the Evo

I searched around, but I didn't find an answer to this specific question. I have an HTC Evo, and a regular Bluetooth headset. I'd like to be able to play music/podcasts/whatnot through the headset.
It works great for phone calls, but once the call is over, it goes back to using the speaker. I'm assuming this has something to do with Bluetooth profiles since I was actually able to play music through Bluetooth in a car I rented a few weeks ago. I had to change the audio setting on the car, so it seems like the Evo can send audio through Bluetooth if it detects a certain profile (A2DP?).
Is there an app that allows me to choose to reroute my audio from the speaker to a regular bluetooth headset that only supports the headset and hands-free profiles? If not, I may need to see how feasible it would be for me to make one.
I have been searching in vane for Android software that would play regular audio through a regular bluetooth ear piece (that is normally used for a phone) rather than the external speaker or audio jack.
If anyone knows of such an animal, please let us know.
I realize what you're asking for, and I'm just going to tell you, odds are it's not going to happen. From what I've heard, the Bluetooth API's are fairly limited, and telling the system to use a BT Profile for something it wasn't meant for (and will sound horrible on, nevermind kill the battery life of your headset) won't be easy.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just not very likely to happen at this time. You'd probably be better off getting a decent pair of BT headphones instead. Sorry.
It won't work. Different protocols. If you get a bluetooth stereo headset that has a mic then it will work with both protocols.
This has been on the top of my list (along with a widget for enabling/disabling background data) since I got my Evo. I used this feature a lot on my Moto Q9C.
But I hadn't been able to find anything until now.
The audio quality isn't great but so far "Super BT Mono Froyo Free" is working well enough. I haven't disconnected my headset yet, so I don't know if it will reboot the phone. But the comments in the marketplace say to use a task killer if it happens.
I'm actually considering getting the full $6 version after the 5 days are up.
I just wish there was a way to make the call button function with the media player instead of starting the voice dialer.
Edit:
Have to change the media volume via settings or when the screen is off to increase music volume.
My jabra bluetooth headset allows this to happen but that bluetooth is meant to stream music through it also.

what about these: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-Motorola-S9-HD-S9HD-Wireless-Stereo-Headphone-/260631900070?pt=Bluetooth_Wireless_Products&hash=item3caedf2fa6
granted, they ship from Hong Kong so you're looking at a good 1-3 weeks for delivery (i got mine in about a week and a half)
But anyways, they work great for me. they answer calls, control track skipping, play/pause and volume. i love 'em.
App Work Around
I had the same issue with my headset. I went to the Android Market and searched. There are multiple apps out there. I got BTmono Free which allows you to play audio over your bluetooth if you pay for the $1 version you get more options. There are a few more other programs out there that do the same thing.
Good luck.
Thanks for the find Abini. d/l'd BTmono and it works like a champ for playing both music and for Netflix on my rooted EVO 2.2

Parrot car kit a2dp experience

Just wondering whether anyone else has connected their phone (I have a HD7) to a car kit or similar?
Here's my experience with Parrot Mki9100.
Using the parrot controls:
Most things work. Play and pause work, voice control works either by syncing your contacts to the parrot or by not syncing and then using the phones voice control.
For some reason if you pause the music you cant press play on the parrot kit again, you have to go back into the phone to press play.
Forward and back for tracks works, the skip forward and back doesnt.
Of course you can control from the phone however you want. I'm sad that the promised voice control of the zune interface didnt come through.
But the biggest problem is a slight crackle with the music. It's not a massive problem and I've not used any other devices so it might be that I'm expecting too much of bluetooth a2dp and i'm happy using it like this. But at certain types during songs which have lots of guitar going on you get a crackle.
I was trying to work out if it was the phone or parrot, so i've connected my phone to my laptop, playing music now and the same lovely crackle. Anyone else experienced the same?
Thanks and hope this was helpful to someone
I just connected mine to my car for A2DP as well (Samsung Focus). It streams music fine but my play/pause/skip controls don't work (they did on my WM 6.1 device). I also have the same issue of having to use the phone to resume after a call.
I get the slight distortion as well at HF (just from tweeters). I believe this is b/c A2DP includes compression in the protocol (its not full 20-20k bandwidth). Its only on a few songs for me and something I can live with.
I am experiencing the same thing. However, the bluetooth stack on wp7 is way...way better and works with parrot better than any of the previous wm versions.

[Q] Bluetooth headset buttons not responding

I have a Verizon G3 but figure this forum gets more eyeballs, and perhaps this is a universal Bluetooth issue.
I use the LG Tone+ HBS-730 headset with my phone. If I go into a music app and start playing music through my headphones with the app, no problem. But, let's say I pause music for a while, or turn the headphones off for a bit. I turn the headphones back on, press the play button on the right side, and nothing happens. The headset is still on - I can long-press a button and get the double-beep, but my music won't play. Sometimes it does, but most of the time, it doesn't. I switched from the stock Music player to Rocket Player, which has proven to be a little more successful.
Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, or is this a common BT occurrence? Control is through the AVRCP BT profile, I believe. I know on my G2 I'd sometimes lose control sync with my phone, where I couldn't skip or pause the track through my headphones. This new problem seems like a magnification of that problem.
Overall, I do find the BT performance a little worse than the G2. I get more audio drops when the phone is in my pocket, but this is when I'm outside and BT is not great outside in general.
Thanks everyone - I have five days to decide if I want to return this phone, between this and some signal problems.
bluetooth connects. calls ok. media plays on device.

I come from the philippines and i have the g3 also. my bluetooth connection was fine it connected to my car and headset but now it only receives calls but does not play music through my bluetooth headphones. when i press the play button on my headset it plays on the device itself. checked under bluetooth setting and call and media and audio was checked.
my device is rooted. i did a factory reset but the problem remains unfixed. please help. i have installed g3 tweaksbox but i dont see any mods that is related to music apps. i dont know what to do. i have considered unrooting and flashing stock rom.
Also interested in this, as I have the same issue but my car.
Op, did you ever find a fix, or work around?
OP
Do you have any other BT programs loaded? I had something similar when I had the Sony app and a Garmin app loaded. Both use BT to connect to their devices and they were interfering. I removed the Garmin one and my play/pause button started working again
