Email notification sound does not work. - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

For some reason when i get a new e-mail there is no sound for the event.
I have no idea how it happened, point is that it's here for the last couple of days or so. When I go to the settings menu everything is enabled as it should be but the problem is here.
Could it be a registry thingy or do I really need to hard reset my device (i would really hate to do so at this point).
So ummm any help please?
By the way the sms notifications work flawlessly...

Same problem here.
I have the same issue with stock WM 6.5.
No matter what i set,the only e mail notification I get is LED blinking....but no sound notification,vibration...nothing,although I set everything correctly.
One important advice for you: Hard Reset will not help,so do not bother with that. I read a lot of posts about this issue but nobody solved this problem. i read some users did Hard Reset to solve this but unsuccessfully.
But one more thing confuses me even more: the same issue regarding e mail notification is present with many other HTC models throughout XDA.
So it makes me think, that is not a bug on Touch Pro 2 only...it is common for many devices.
I do not know how to solve this. Everything else works great, except this.

HTC Kaiser w/ WM6.1 SMS Problems

Hello,
first of all, i want to thank you all for awesome community here at XDA-Developers. This forum has been a huge help to me, while searching solutions of any kind of problems concerning my HTC, or just wanting to have some updates. So thank you very much!
To the topic:
I upgraded today to WM6.1 from HTC online. Everything went well and i faced no problems with installing, but now after 5 hours of use, i faced a first bug/problem.
on WM6.1 there's this fancy way of seeing the SMS sender/message history when opening a received SMS. It is possible to answer to the SMS directly from here just to type your message to the same screen and pressing "send". This is very handy, when changing more than a couple of messages with the receiver. Man can always check easily, what the content of the latest message, or a few ones before that really was.
however, this text "form" where to type has suddenly decreased it's size, so that it is not possible to write more that one line to the reply (which is somewhat around 50 digits).. or actually, it is possible to write more, but there's no use, since all you can preview of your text, is this one line..
There is one "fast solution" for this, a reboot and the problem is gone.. however, this is really aggravating and i was wondering, if anyone has a solution for this..?
Experiences? Any help?
-kmn
EDIT: Mod, feel free to move, if you experience this more of a General -kinda discussion.
I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Any suggestions how to solve that?
I also noticed that predictive text is not working anymore.
Thanks

Try this [SOLUTION] Thread SMS Input Space you can also disable threaded mode and go back to the old way of using SMS by disabling the feature Disable SMS Text Message Threading or Conversation Mode in Windows Mobile 6.1
Cheers

Read but unread (or not)..

Hi all
I'm opening a new thread about this issue as I can't find any solution to this problem anywhere else (and most threads seems to be cluttered with less valuable info).
Yesterday I got an SMS which I read right away and replied to some seconds later. When I pressed "Send" from the TouchFLO-SMS app. my phone stopped responding. I was waiting for a few minutes to see if it came back to life, but to no avail. I did a soft reset and everything seemed fine, except I had one unread message according to TouchFLO and the standard WM messaging app. I've tried every solution I could find on the forums, like: disabled threaded messaging to look for unread messages, read all of them anyway, installed the "Mark all as unread" (SafeInboxExtender) and even tried to replace the file "htmlnote.dll", but that isn't possible. I can't rename, copy or replace the file (tried "all" file explorers I can come by).
I don't know why this happens, but I know that a lot of people at my work have the same problem with the same phone (and other 6.1-phones).
Hard reset is not an option any way you put it..
Hoping to find a final solution to this issue (or else I'll go back to my Nokia with Series 60 as usual - it's flawless, but not so nice..)
Have you tried backing up your texts to Microsoft's My Phone service?
I can't offer a solution to your problem, but if you have a backup you can do more drastic things like deleting all your texts. The worst that will happen if you sync to My Phone again is that the SMS that you've deleted on your phone will be archived.
I've solved it now. After numerous attempts with FixUnread and soft-resets it worked

TP2 SMS Messaging Problem ANNOYING

Hey guys,
I've been using this forum for quite a while, and have always been able to find answers for my questions here (which is why I have never posted), until now.
I have a Touch Pro 2 that is T-Mobile branded, but unlocked, and being used on AT&T. I have the phone exactly the way I want it, but I am having a very annoying SMS problem.
When I receive a new message, I open it up and reply, but the original message is never marked as read. A whole conversation can take place, and when I close it, it will say I have a ton of unread messages, even though they were all read. The only way to mark them as read is to either select each individual message with the keyboard, or delete the whole conversation.
Is there any way to fix this so they are automatically marked as read like my Kaiser did? The Kaiser always marked them as read when I closed the conversation or replied. The TP2 won't...
This is very annoying. PLEASE HELP!
Try the file attached, the was a problem that stemmed from the fuze. Good luck

Thank you for our reply. I tried as you said, but unfortunately it didn't work... I have searched this, and other forums, and have found people with the same problem, but no solution anywhere as far as I can tell.
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Same problem here, has the app fixed this for anyone?

Try a soft reset. I do know in the fuze this was a problem, I havent had this issue with my TP2 (aka Tilt from ATT running the EU stock rom). But normally if you hit menu then reply, it should automatically check it as read, now sometimes thru the WinMO sms app when your in the conversation has a tendency of kepping the persons sms in bold and when you exit it wont detect it as read, the only solution I found which became a habit was to tap the bold convo which then made it read.
But that cab I attached try a soft reset, it did cure alot of my problems of unread msgs building up.

Major TP2 Woes

Hello all,
I'm really sorry if this is the wrong place to post this,
but i'm just so frustrated right now and I can't find anywhere else.
So I got my Touch Pro 2 about 6 or 7 months ago. It worked perfectly
for the first few weeks. Then every now and then when I went in and
out of messages a little to often it would brick and I would be forced to
reset it. It kept getting worse. I have to use the quick message (type contact
every time) because i'm afraid going into the threaded message view will brick the phone. The reset count is getting ridiculous. Today alone I have had to reset it four times.
I've noticed in the past month it has been lacking facebook compatibility and
me trying to figure out why has resulted in it bricking many times.
First of all, when i first got the phone i linked all my friends' profiles and set up their profile pictures. But when i added new contacts I couldn't add their facebook account. And I haven't been able to update pictures from friends
that are already connected. So today i decided to hit the logout button on
Data connections. It logged me out and then i logged back in to find most
of the connection between people and facebook entirely gone and all of the profile pictures gone.
All in all it's just plain ridiculous that I can't A - message properly or B - use the facebook compatibility, both of which are things that should just work and not brick my phone. I really hope there is some setting or registry value I can tweak to make it all better. But i realise that is naive so i won't get my hopes up.
Thanks in advance,
Ben
Realistically the only real fix for that is to just back it all up and do a hard reset (wiping it back to the default configuration). It'll be back to how it was when you got it.
Alternatively you may wish to install a HardSPL and flash a new (better?) ROM instead, but that's up to you. Either way it'll require a hard reset though.
first go here

then pick from one of the roms posted. see which one you prefer. i use energy cookie. ive heard great things about its facebook and twitter apps. messaging itself is on point as well.
heres a link to some roms

[Q] several new issues on AOKP milestone 6

okay, i posted a thread a few weeks ago on some issues with AOKP milestone 6 on htc wildfire.. now, after fine tuning several aspects of the phone i ran into more issues, that i do not know how to solve.....
1. an incredibly annoying lag when receiving call... first comes the ringtone, then, about 4-5 seconds later, the screen turns itself on, and only then the in-call image appears, with an option to answer/decline a call. i managed only to reduce the lag a bit by managing several profiles in SetCPU app, but the problem persists no matter what i do....
2. battery life and occasional twitching when flipping through home screens/ app drawer - this issue got solved pretty easily by removing non-essential apps from system/app using root explorer, and properly setting processor frequencies in profiles with SetCPU. The phone now is fast, snappy, and the battery has almost 3 days of autonomy with quite a lot of background processes
3. Contacts search/suggestion problem - now this one is truly annoying, and i can't seem to figure out the reason why this is happening. it didn't happen at the beginning. now here's the deal: whenever i want to send a new message, and type the name of the recipient, the phone does not recognize/suggest the name (or can't find it in the phonebook). the only way is to type in the FULL number (with + and prefixes), and only then it will recognize the recipient and show his/hers name. the other method is to search for the contact in the phonebook and then chose an option to send a sms/mms. i imported my contacts list from google, the same i did with previous roms and after resetting the phone, and never had such a problem.... the other part is opening people app, i.e. the phonebook. when scrolling through contacts, all are there, visible and accessible, but when trying to search for a specific entry (i have over 300 entries, so search option is truly a must-have), it only finds some contacts, but not all. and i do not know the solution for these problems. i tried meddling with which entries are visible, checking and unchecking all google contatcs, but the problem is still there...
does anybody have an idea? i tried googling for this one, but it seems i don't even know what keywords to use since this specific problem wasn't addressed in any of the AOKP or CM-related threads

If I'm not mistaken you're already allowed to post in the developing section? I'd suggest you better post those ROM related stuff directly in the ROM thread - most likely people using that ROM (those who probably could give some answers) will follow that thread even if they rarely visit XDA. Furthermore other users may have similar issues and could find this stuff more easy
