Nexus like navigation panel? - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

Is it possible to change Hero Sense navigation panel ( the one which is in the bottom, like semicircle ) to one that Nexus has? Or even android standard one?

You can change to android stanard very very easy without doing any modification of your phone.
Go to your apps list and select "htc sense" or "touch flow" whichever is what you see and then click "clear defaults"
Then press the home button.
At this point it should give you an option to go home with either "home" or "touchflow" click home and you have default android. But will not have any of the htc specific stuff e.g. widgets.
You can always revert back by clearing defaults in "home" in app screen (assuming you set it as your new default)

do you mean from this to this? i to would like to no if this was possible i think it looks so much better

I don't know of any way to do it without losing all those widgets, sorry

Yes it's possible to add the Nexus One style launcher. However, I believe it'll only work with 2.X roms.
THANKS TO: REVOKED
Download LAUNCHER2.APK
Then:
adb remount
adb push Launcher2.apk system/app
Voila!
If it doesn't work, rename it to Launcher, and it'll just wipe it over the top.
If you have any problems, let me know and I'll sign it as an update.zip for you.
BE WARNED THOUGH: Due to the demanding graphics, although it strangely runs MORE smoothly than the stock Android 2.1 launcher, it can on occasions cause your phone to SOFT reboot.
Happy to help!

Actually the modifications to Launcher2 to make it work on mdpi devices were done by me... Says so at the source posted by jnwhiteh .

couldn't install it on Modaco 3.2 Beta 5

Thanks for the Launcher2.apk. It's working wonderfully on my GSM Hero running KaguDroid 1.2.1.

No need for that, just copy to sd and install it with a file manager or with adb install from your hd.
To remove go to Settings:Applications and remove it from there.

No development until we can figure out what exactly is breaking and we can fix that... hopefully itll fix itself next month when we get HTC 2.1 framework.

I have been using it since yesterday afternoon with no problems (cept when I tried to use the Nexus One Live paper and got stuck in a reboot loop ) Awesome work man, now my phone feels like it has 2.1 on it!

DO A NANDROID BEFORE ANYTHING[/SIZE]
when i posted yesterday i forgot to give everyone my rosie file...whoops thats why it would not work. All files have been updated below
Okay first off i am running vega port 0.91 with video &youtube fix. also firerats apps2sd (FireratModified-a2sd-2-1-1_S.zip). also i have a g1 160 swap 512 fat32 and you know the rest
what i did was push files the files in this order
ADB PUSH TO /SYSTEM/APP
LiveWallpapers,apk
LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
VisualizationWallpapers.apk
now the lib files
ADB PUSH /SYSTEM/LIB/
libgsl.so
libRS.so
librs_jni.so
Then push rosie
ADB PUSH /SYSTEM/APP/
Rosie.apk
I am running launcher2 also dont know if it makes a difference or not? But its included and if you use it push it first
make sure first you go to settings application, and clear htcsense data, then select your lwp
When you push the files there is no need to reboot right away give it a shot an see how it is.
im a little tipsy now but if anyone needs help pm me
here are the files View attachment enemeonenew.zip
THIS IS NOT A FLASH ABLE ZIP UNZIP FILES THEN PUSH
Some pics i will help anyone please pm me
sorry here is the launcher 2
not sure if it makes a difference but this is my set up and its working great
1) How do we ADB Push? I know that's really stupid but I never really found out how that works.
2) Will this work on VegaMan V0.1?

i am sorry been drinkin a bit hehe no its not slow its actually pretty quick of course the battery is gonna go faster than the normal rom (not much) but they look nice just wanted to share with the community something that i enjoy, pushing the limits of what android is capable of
id love this, but im just worried about speed aswell.

hmm not sure i used android commander to push the files let me look into it but android commander is noob software with a good gui
that i use try with that if you want while i look into this.......... also what rom you on
been drinkin a bit
bear with me
vega android 0.9.1 and i received this message when i try to push from commander with adb push
so i did everything, and nothing, didnt work
same as smjfosho, i can preview them but not use em and what rosie was i supposed to push? the original rosie?
I have been working on this for several days now...
You will need the rosie.apk from espresso
You can get the rosie.apk here:
http://geekfor.me/fixes/rosie-lwp-fix-opengl/
but be aware that it's only for rom devs, as it is not signed properly to work on any sense rom.
or try to resign it...
I am working on my very own sense rom with live wallpapers at the moment... but I am not quite shure yet if I want to have espresso rosie after all. it's ugly :/
May have to theme it...
Hope that helps
/edit: lol just read the first post... he obviously got it on original rosie. so it's the rosie from legend?
live wallpaper are not running on droid eris rosie
Will probably pm you tomorrow

no the SlideMeRoot 5r1 but you mighty need ubuntu that's what i used. first rename the rom i just added 2 at the end
in ubuntu i deleted a fie in the bin folder (logwarpper) from SMR5r1 rom
flash the rom (renamed) then flash the regular rom (no wipe)
note: download the regular rom and put on SD first
EX: slideMeRood5r1 regular
SlideMeRoot5r2 renamed
hope im clear sorry
Eh, don't do all of that. Just change your Theme (press your menu key at the desktop screen, then select "MyModes", then "Change my Theme") to Nest. It already has the bubbles removed on the latest Slidemeroot5, but the theme has to be Nest. You can change the background after you change to that theme.
I only removed it on the Default theme, as I knew people was going to say ( But, I liked the Bubbles!! )

the stock nest theme is in system/framework its com.htc.resources.apk.. you can pull this from one of his slidemeroms and push it to your rom and itll have them removed. If you want to do it the hard way, you pull that file from your phone, open it up, all the png files in it that say container in the name are the bubbles. replace bubbles with a blank icon named the same.

Change theme of Android build on Diamond?

Hi all
I have recently installed Android on my Diamond, and is the Android built by Cyanogen.
I wonder is it possible to change the original theme please?
I have read some threads, and seems like changes themes in ordinary Android phones require rooting.
So does the same apply to our Android on Diamond please>?
Many thanks
I tried to apply simplistic 1.1 using superfroyo rc2
But the themes requires cyanogen 6 and so caused the phone app to crash each second and i wasn't able to press reboot and apply theme button in metamorph
Maybe the problem was because I didn't used cyanogen

haven't tried it yet...since I am using SuperFroyo now, and I have installed quite a lot of apps, so need to find a way to back them up first.
By the way, have you read this site ever? Think he is one of the guy who creates the themes.
http://ultralinx.blogspot.com/
And what I am trying to say is, what he has done is in fact using different wallpaers and widget on desktop, like SwitchPro, BattStatt, Genie Widget,, etc, and the dock bar, he is simply using MnmlText, which you can find a similar one called SimplyText, and I guess u can download this simplytext for free, and change the icons on dock in LaucherPro preference.
So all I am trying to say is, we can still generate the same appearance with little bit effort, like change colors, wallpaper and icons manually.
(My opinion only, surely the guy might have put a lot effort on the theme.)

[Q] increase max number of windows in browser on rooted phone?

My Desire limits max number of browser windows to 4, and does so on every ROM I've tried. I'm rooted - is there any hack I can apply to increase this? I know Dolphin HD and other browsers don't have this problem but I kind of like the HTC browser apart from this issue.

it's hardcoded in the browser (com.android.browser.TabControl.canCreateNewTab())
shouldn't be a big deal to increase it
which rom are you currently using?
Moved to Q&A.
On hero, it was limited to 4 tabs in sense, but on CM6 base, I have roughly 8 open in the background all the time. I reckon you could hack the above value, not sure how well the sense browser would perform...

8 tabs like on AOSP ROMs would be excellent. 4 tabs limit is with Sense ROMs and it is too few for my usage too.

Please find here the result of my homework given by The GREAT MASTER snq- !!!
Base on the Browser.apk you have in AuraxTSense 7.6.1, this one will allow you to go up to 15 tabs !
(It's now hard coded at 32, but after 15 I got an Out of memory... should be enough anyway)
For that first time, it is zip-aligned, but not signed.
So I will assume that you know what do with (push with adb, in recovery if you don't have S-OFF).
As soon as I learn to make a flashable zip, I will update it.
Enjoy !!
Or just feel free to insult me if it doesn't work flawlessly for you...
Edit: backup your bookmarks, just in case...
Edit2 : finally no prob with bookmarks
EDIT 3 : updated .apk (back to original png for back and forward)

1. Unzip the theme to a folder in your sd card
2. Go to market and install the metamorph app.
3. Use View attachment UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5.apk to root your phone if you are not root already, or my advice-if you have the time for it-is to install a custom rom.
4. Enable USB debugging in settings-applications-development.
5. Open the metamorph app that you installed earlier.
6. Tap "pick existing theme"
7. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the theme to, and then select the "ICS_theme_1.0.xml" file to let metamorph know how to use the theme.
8. Follow the prompts and when it reboots, just let it, as it needs to reboot to edit system files, much like chkdsk on windows.
9. Enjoy! This theme has a black statusbar and holo buttons much like the ones in ICS -correction- they are the original buttons, taken directly from the source! Give me feedback if you think there is anything missing
P.S. I am working on a video tutorial on how to install cyanogenmod, so if you are having trouble rooting your phone, then it will hopefully help.

It will likely work on almost any ROM, but some elements might not be themed, best of luck!:fingers-crossed:

Yeah bro, I tried it but nothing change, I used the metamorph.apk from market and followed what you have said, but I think its not suitable for the rom I'm using.
But thanks for the help you given me... :good:
you might need to adjust the reboot timeout in metamorph settings, so that it doesn't reboot in the middle of the operation.
You might try ninjamorph, but no promises. What ROM are you using? If you want, I can email you a copy of the one I know it works for.
now on cm 6.1 stable

hello bro, sorry for the late reply, recently I tried it on EzGingerBread but it failed when I apply it nothing happen but now I'm on CM 6.1stable (I don't want gingerbread builds I find them so slow on my phone) thanks in advance.
That's funny, I just moved to ezgingerbread. I'm not actually finding it that slow with the ram hack. I literally flashed it about 15 minutes ago, and this was sent using it. By the way, I found that It only really worked for the rom i had included the name of in the xml file. I'm working on bringing holo to gingerbread as we speak though....
new rom for me too

Oh, you just flashed ezginger while me I also flashed a few moments ago this new rom I newly discovered also a froyo rom its pre-themed ICS rom named froyo cream sandwich I forgot who post this but its nice superb, Im now testing it.
Send me a link, that sounds awesome! However, is it compatible with the ezterry ram hack?
Yes it is, its themed by darinx (probably butchered his name) there are two ROMs actually, one based off froyo by Laszlo and one of dream team froyo, two of the better froyo builds for the dream
Check the dev threads and youll find it within the first few pages
Also andisa (probably butchered his name too) made a great ICS theamed version of ezgingerbread that all includes some additional tweeks, I don't believe he ever created an xda thread but I can find you the link if your interested

If you could post the link to the ezgingerbread version, that would be excellent. I'm not quite ready to give up gingerbread, as it is working great even with live wallpapers.
Sent from my friend's kindle fire HD (sorry, it's just that I love typing on this thing, such smooth glass, light design, but alas, it's not for me, nexus 5 here I come.....)

DREAMWAVE sorry for the late reply, here is the complete link for that rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568486
Just want to ask what was the things you did to make G1 still great even with live wallpapers under the gingerbread version?? heheh,,,thanks in advance,,,
what I did to speed it up was remove some apps that were running in the background, such as dialer, which was taking up a solid 7mb of ram all the time. I now have a pretty consistent 42mb of ram while at my launcher, adw ex. While it won't beat any phone at a benchmark, it will run quite smoothly while flipping between launcher pages. Try using swap and a task killer, I am using smart ram booster and have the widget situated over the clock on the statusbar for whenever I want a quick boost in speed.
