Leather Case - Desire General

I thought some of you in the UK may be interested in this.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PDair-Black-L...sesPouches?hash=item58869d4289#ht_2278wt_1002
I just received mine today and it's a spot on fit for the Desire. I've been using a PD Air case for the last year with my i8910 and they are really nicely made.
You can't really charge the phone whilst it's in the case but you couldn't do that with the Nexus either as the sockets are more or less in identical positions. The other downside is the strong leathery smell that takes a few days to wear off when new but other than that I'd say it's the best leather belt case around for the money.

looking for a case/holster combo

I'm looking for a durable and strong case and holster combo. I work for a police department and need one for my duty belt that won't let the phone fall out if I'm involved in a foot chase, also needs to be strong in case I'm involved in a fight
What can you recommend?a lot of my coworkers have old droid and they have really good cases that come with strong holsters but they're unbranded

Very noble career if I must say so myself (I'm a 7-year law enforcement vet myself). I purchased a Shell/Holster Combo from cheapdroids.com yesterday. It's the closest thing that I've found to reasonible so far. I've seen similar OEM's on ebay for $50. I spoke to cust service there and they stated that the X only fits in the holster when the shell is attached to the back. This brings the total width of the phone to about even with the hump. I really only purchased it because I'm intending on replacing the ipod with this phone and wanted a good holster for jogging.
I'm guessing this isn't going to work for you though. There's no way that belt clip is going to be big enough or strong enough to stay on a duty belt. Personally I just carry the phone in my shirt pocket. It's slim enough where it's never going to be seen and I've already had to run with it in there; it's stays put.
I'd say the chances of it breaking in a scrap are just as good there as on your belt.
I too am a police officer and bought the stock case from verizon. I would not use it though on my duty belt. The case is strong enough and secure. But if you wear a 3" belt like I do then the clip is not going to actually fit around the bottom. It will only slide on.
IMO no holster is secure enough for working on the road. Brides I don't know about ur department but ours will not reimburse you over 100.00 for any personally owned equipment broken on the line of duty.
Having said that, take a look at sedio cases, they are about the most secure.

If Otterbox comes out with one, get that. A friend of mine has one of their cases and it's bulletproof. Luckily I don't work the road anymore, so my holster works just fine.
GOOD NEWS: otterbox just put up a coming soon for the DX. Although there has been one of those for the dinc for like 3 months. Can't wait to get it though.

For your requirements I would consider a skin from seidio (they are in development now) and then take the X to a leather worker and have a holster made. They will be able to ensure a solid fit and do the basket weave to blend with your service belt. That is if you are using the leather duty belt.
Went head and bought one that they sell at verizon wireless for $30
I\The shell only protects the back of the phone, and you put the screen facing inwards on the holster.
It works, it fits really tight so the phone is not going to fly out, however the spring clip feels kind of weak when attached to the duty belt, but if t\it was to fall off, nothing would happen to the phone as it is very rugged when in the holster.
Let us know how it holds up in a tussle. =)
But seriously be careful out there and thank you for your service.
First time poster...
Been looking for a case/holster also. GO TO BB, they have 3 EXCELLENT leather holsters for our Xs, 1 made by Eddie Bauer, $21, the other by HTC $31 and I forgot the 3rd. I went to Verizon and tried their origional X holdster and it looked too "bulky." Very disaponting. But those 3 cases I mentioned at BB, they fit very snug and perfectly. Im going for the HTC case later today and post pics up. Def worth the trip to BB. Oh, and the clip is very sturdy on all of them but def dont know if it will go over the utility belt...
Has anyone found one that works with the cardock? The Motorola dock that verizon sells has an insert that pulls out that allows you to put the phone in still in the case. However I checked both verizon and motorola's website and can't find a case that motorola says will work with the dock. I bought a case that covers the back and slides into the holster from verizon (probably the same one sp1kez bought), but when trying to put the phone in the dock after removing the insert it hits on a tab that looks like it was intentionally put there to only allow using an "official" case with the dock.

Any Decent Cases in the UK??

Hi all,
I'm not having much luck getting a decent case for my Xoom in the UK, so far I have bought the following:-
(1) UltimateAddons Anti-Shock Memory Foam Sleeve Case for Motorola Xoom Tablet PC
(http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004U7BW60) - This was WAY TOO BIG!
(2) Port Designs Berlin Netbook Skin 10 Inch With Life Time Warranty (black)
(http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002PD61B2) - Nice case but really designed to hold a notebook (Has straps to hld the screen & keyboard) so my Xoom slips around inside.
(3) Black Rugged Carrying Case for Apple IPAD, iPAD2 AND Motorola Xoom 10.1 inch Tablet
(http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004W1CFMO) - Didn't bother opening this one as it looked like my Xoom would slip around inside this case too??
I would prefer a case with handles but failing that a leather case - I quite like the ZooGue Leather case but this is not available in the UK
Any Suggestions??
Cheers
Ody
Well, I'm not in the UK, but I'm down here in Australia, so I have even less range to choose from than you (the Xoom isn't even out here yet). Well, you could still order the zoogue one from their site, I think. I'm pretty sure they have international shipping, don't they?
Also, I recently bought a case off eBay that has fully adjustable viewing angles (via the use of velcro), like the zoogue but is only US$25. I think it looks really nice too, but I guess I'll find out when it arrives.
I can't post links, but if you search "Black Folio Leather Case Cover For Motorola Xoom Tablet" exactly, it should show up. It's the one with taylor swift in on the xoom screen, and the seller is "dcone_us"
I've also been looking in the UK without much luck.
word of warning on the zoogue case, I preordered, but since it shipped 3 weeks ago I've not recieved anything. No responce to my latest emails to them either

My experience of buying stuff from the US, is that you'll get hammered for customs!
I wanted an Otterbox for my old Dell streak and ordered one from an ebay seller for about £20 inc postage (in the UK you could only pre-order for about £26) BUT the post office then charged me £10 adminstration for the customs, £1.70 VAT then another £1 for having the incorrect duty, so in the end it cost me £34 odd pounds!!
I Just checked on the ZooGue website that they ship by USPS so it will take a few weeks + the customs hold up
It took about 3 weeks for my Otterbox to arrive and that was bt USPS Express! which is faster than USPS Priority??
I am in Sweden and ordered the Zoogue case. After almost three weeks it arrived and I can only recommend it, its a great case.
I bought this one from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270737383497
It's OK. The hole for the front facing camera wasn't positioned correctly so it covered it a little bit. I made it larger with a knife and now it's fine. You can't plug in the charger when its fully closed. Apart from those issues it's adequate. Better than the official case anyway.
The stock folio case is pretty good, seems to provide decent protection while being relatively small.
I ordered this one and its a perfect fit and looks great
Tuff-Luv 'Veggie' Faux Leather Pull-Tab Case for Motorola Xoom from Amazon UK. Sorry forum blocks me from posting url.
got the stock folio case , pretty happy with it , not too bulky , enough protection , 2 stand positions , think it was £30
I've tried a few cases (all from Amazon UK)...
The Navitech - cheap, but if you just want protection, then I guess it works, but I'm not using it, as the flap doesn't work in sofa mode
Motorola Folio - advertised as leather on Amazon, but it's nylon. No scratching problems for me, and I actually like it... protection at minimum size and it works in the speaker dock too. No more holding the Xoom while lying on a sofa
PDair BX2 Black Leather Case - expensive, but it is well made. It also offers more tilt positions than the Folio case. Doesn't work in the dock, but very easy to remove the Xoom from it (unlike the Folio case). Offers more protection than folio case, but it is bulkier. Also the leather border means some buttons on the edge of the screen can be a bit harder to press, compared to the Folio.
For the moment I am using the PDair
I've just recieved this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XGIPJA/ref=oss_product
I think it's excellent for the price.
Great fit, solid close, and the stand doesn't collapse under pressure.
I just ordered this one

So fingers crossed it is nice. A bit more expensive than some of the others cheap cases... if it is no good then my next choice will be the noreve case

Brand new Zoogue case in the UK
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....70524&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_500wt_1156
I've ordered this one for 19.10 GBP (22,54 EUR) incl. shipping costs:
LuvTab Black Luxury Executive Wallet (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004X5JO9Q/ref=oss_product)
Ordered it at Amazon.co.uk, but from Germany. I seems that it has been shipped from Krefeld/Germany, so it arrived less than 2 days after
For the moment I'm contented with it, it fits perfectly and doesn't bloat the Xoom too much. If I come to the US as planned for this summer, I'll have a look at this special new original folio case from Moto/VZW. Until then the current one is well enough.
Once which is the biggest problem with all of these cases appears with this as well: the device can't be charged while the case is closed.
If anyone's interested,
I ordered and received a second ZooGue Genius leather case for the xoom, now on ebay for UK mailing..

Received now and it isn't too bad. Nice soft leather... if perhaps a little too soft. The case seems to suffer from the top lip around the front camera not sitting snugly to the device that similar cases report. No notification light cutout or closed charging cutout.
Not bad for using in stand mode but still slips down a little a although there is a bottom flap that folds under the case there is no fixing for it. Also the lowest angle is not too comfortable for typing so had to lie it down flat. But the elastic fastening strap is very "moleskin" and secure.
They also claim there is a stylus/SD card slot but that is not really practical... if you look at the front there is a vertical line in the leather... this not just a detail stitch but a flap of sorts that might be OK for sliding business cards or notes of paper that you want handy briefly but anything of any depth just falls out all the time!
All in all though it isn't a bad case now I have gotten used to it and over come my first impression and given up with stylus pocket thing.

[Q] Case opinions

I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on a case. I've narrowed it down to the roocase, acase, or possibly the bear motion...based on reviews here and other research. I was willing to give Fortte a chance (especially with the extra 30% off) but I contacted them 3 times to ask a question about 2 different cases and still no response. Also got some weirdness when trying to call them directly. Buyer use caution with Fortte, that sent up red flags for me. Anyway...now that some of you have owned them for a while, what are your impressions now? I'm not really interested in the gel cases. I want something I can prop up for long term viewing. TIA
I guess I can't help you if you have narrowed it down to those. I have to ZooGue case and absolutely love it. I liked it so much I bought one for my wife's iPad and she loves hers as well. Everyone I have shown it to has decided to buy one.
The downside is that it is one of the thicker cases but I will take the extra protection vs going for slim. It is completely adjustable for different viewing angles. My only issue is Moto's stupid decision to put the charging port on the bottom of the unit as this makes it pretty much impossible to keep plugged in and have it propped up at a good angle. Hopefully someone will come out with a right-angle adapter that is small enough not to put too much pressure on the charging port, but this is a Xoom design issue, not an issue with the case.
The WORST decision I made was buying the Motorola case when I bought the XOOM, it is a worthless pile of crap. At steep angles the XOOM slides out of the case, whoever approved that design should be fired.
I was considering the zoogue case. I'd prefer a thin form factor though. Only reason I was really considering the roocase is because it does come with a sleeve as well.
I originally wanted the Motorola case thining that surely they would have designed a perfect case for their own product...until I started reading the horrible reviews on every site I looked at.
I agree with the power cord issue. Kind of a pain to be charging it and use it at the same time. However...the one thing I really love about this thing is that it only takes about an hour to charge and the battery life is freakishly long. I got slammed a couple weeks ago at work and couldn't really find time to play with my new toy so it sat on my desk for a few days without turning it off. I thought for sure the battery was dead, but it wasn't. Lasted for about 5 days that way, even with the wireless turned on!
Acase is awesome. Still slides out when propped up. I put two egips in a good position though which made it stop sliding. Can't see them either. Great idea.
I've tried the Moto portfolio, Zoogue and Acase. Acase wins out. When you consider the price it makes it even more of a no brainer. Acase is form fitting, easy to use daily and looks good. Zoogue is great but ugly. Yes it is rock solid but it adds tremendous bulk, the velcro on the outside just detracts and the back of the case does not follow the Xoom's form.
Zoogue's pros may outweigh the cons for some people and thats fine. I'm just saying as an all around good case at a great price (I paid $22) you cant beat the Acase.
Thanks to everyone for their input. I went ahead and ordered an acase. I think for a slim profile that can be carried around all the time it was just the better choice for me. I'll definitely take the advice of putting something non-slip in the grooves. Thanks for the heads up on that JG!

Has anyone tried this holster/combo case?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Impact-Resi...ccessories&hash=item519b281abc#ht_2288wt_1270
I just saw that on ebay. I'm thinking about picking that one up. Doe's not look bad for 20 bucks.
looks pretty good to me. something like the ones seidio makes.
I got one of these and it is the exact same case sprint sells.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
except this clips over the case. sprint clips over the phone.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on one. We'll see in about a week...
I had originally purchased the carbon fiber case with the built-in kick stand from accessorygenie on eBay (I liked it when I tried it at my local Sprint store, but it was way overpriced), but what I received in the mail today was the case with the Technocel holster and the extra micro-USB cable (as described in the OP) due to a "glitch in the system." They are sending me the actual carbon fiber case free of charge and they didn't require me to send back this holster case to them.
Is there anyone here that would be interested in purchasing this Technocel holster case + micro-USB cable from me for half of what it's going for on eBay? I've uploaded four pictures of the actual product and USB cable on my bed. I didn't realize this before, but the actual case is comprise of two parts: the phone case that encases the Epic 4G Touch, and the part with the clip attached to the holster (which, of course, is bigger than the case itself in order to actually hold the phone and case in place). The very last sample picture I've uploaded features a close-up of the clip and the Technocel logo that is on it. The package is still unopened, but has a small dent in the lower left hand corner of the plastic, presumably from the shipping.
I'm willing to part with this for around $10-12 if anyone is interested in biting. PM me for more details or additional questions.
And just in case you were wondering where it would be mailed from, I live in Norman, OK. I was stuck on a Palm Pre on its last legs for the entire two-year duration on was on contract, and I'm so, so, soooooo happy to have finally pulled the trigger to get a new smartphone like the E4T. It's phenomenal.
EDIT: I just realized I submitted this post before I had a chance to let my pictures finish uploading. =(
Bought the case/holster last week it arrived last friday. Quality isnt the greatest. Case outside the phone doesnt snap around the phone as tight as i would like. Small drop and it comes apart. Holster needs a stronger spring on the clip that hold the phone in place. Wore it to work today for the first time and it came right out of the clip twice when I barely even touched the thing. Should have seen my face when a lady say "excuse me, is this yours" and walks up holding pieces in her hand :O . Im just gonna rock it with a tpu in my pocket until seidio or otterbox releases a case/holster combo.
That blows. I order the case on sunday. It should be here this weekend. I may a well put it right in the trash.

damit i ordered it too. Will the tpu case fit with the holster?
Got my case today. I've been using it for a couple hours. Nothing like the case/ hoster I had for my evo 4g. But doing the job for right now.
If I had to choose again. I would pay the extra ten at the sprint store to get a my reliable case.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
i got the one sprint sells, and its not that bad at all. it fits super snug against the phone, only gripe is that it's not as easy to put into the holster like most holsters....takes a lil getting used too
Been using this case/holster today. (directly from the ebay link)
The case fits fairly snug around the phone, though the case itself dosen't seem to click together 100% (more like 99%, small gaps). It fits into the holster quite well. I do IT work in a factory/office environment, so I do a lot of walking around, crouching, laying on the ground, etc. The case hasn't once popped out of the holster on it's own. The holster seems to translate vibration from the phone fairly well so you can tell when your phone is going off. It's also nice that the holster keeps the headphone port accessible.
I have dropped the phone once while in the case. From about 3 feet onto concrete. It popped right out of the case, and while that might seem bad, I think it's more by-design, since it disperses some of the energy from the fall by the case absorbing it and coming apart. The case snapped right back on, no problem, and the phone is fine.
Overall, I like it well enough to keep it for awhile, until a more premium case/holster combo comes out. $20 seems a little steep for it, $12 - $15 would be a bit more fair considering the quality; though it was free shipping, so that kind of evens it out.

To case or not to case. That is the question.

So I am really torn. With my old phone I had a case originally, but I would swap batteries twice a day, plus I could never dock it in the car (since I had a dock made for my phone), or on my desk.
I am guessing with this phone I would not be switching batteries as regularly as I am now, but I still have the home/car dock issue. What do you guys think???
You can think of cases/screen protectors as insurance. In the end, it's up to you. But, one accident is all that is needed to ruin the phone.
I plan on getting a case, but my situation is going to be slightly different than your's. I have no issues with the dock situation.
Trust me, case up. I dropped my galaxy s3 and it smashed into tiny pieces. It wasn't insured so I was screwed.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
The phone will be too valuable for me to drop. I seem to drop them from time to time. I will have some kind of case (bought 2 already).
As far as the battery switching, with the 3100mAh batt and resonably long life as reports elsewhere, I think you won't be de-casing nearly as often.
My present iPhone (gasp) has an otter case. Taking apart the 2 part casing to change batts would really get old fast.
Once you drop a phone in a parking lot, you learn to slap a case on it as soon as possible.
Otterbox JUST came out with the iPhone 5 case this week (or maybe late last week). That is a longgggg time to not have a case if the same trend goes with the Note 2.
Samsung TPU Case
I grabbed one of the actual Samsung branded TPU cases. First time I've ever bought an OEM case. It's a very, very slick case. Feels nice in the hand, doesn't add bulk and has a raised from edge. It's a bit pricey at 30$ and the only complaint that I have right now is the AUX hole isn't that big so a bulky connector still means I have to remove it.
Other than that, the grey on grey looks glorious.
I have never cased my phones. I've always used a horizontal to carry the phone on my belt. My S and SII have both been dropped several times and the only issue I have had is scuffing and nicks on the edges. Amazingly they help up better than I would of thought. The hip case has always worked well for me and provides good protection. But once the phone is removed from the case it up to you to keep it protected.
I'm planning on picking up a note II and have picked up a horizontal case for mt belt and a case with a bumper around the edge and a flip cover. I'm afraid the case my make the phone a little thicker than I'd like and am looking for an additional case with a slim profile bet also covers the back and edges.
The note II being a large phone, with a little more weight and a large surface area I'm thinking a case would be a good idea. I'd say a nice minimalistic case that is easy to remove is the way to go.
