Want short cut link for Phone Sounds - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I installed Easy Launcher which puts short cuts on your today screen. I want to install a shortcut for the Settings-> Personal ->Phone. One day I will buy some software (maybe someone knows of some for free), but everyday at work I set my phone to no ring, and at the end of the day I want to set it back to ring. A short cut on my today screen would help.
Thanks

Why not just use the hardware volume button. Press it up or down, the HTC volume screen appears, select SILENT, and you are done! Or you could set it to vibrate.

I listen to music all day on head phones. I need the volumne up for the music but do not want the phone ring in my cubicle environment. Especially if I get up, leave my desk, and my phone has been ringing nobody appreciates it.

Well, you could disable the HTC Notifications manager. Then you would have the old-style dialogs for your data connection and volume. I mention it because the stock WM dialogs have separate volume controls for Phone and Device.
It is a registry tweak where you change the name of the dll file to something different. When you reset the notifications should be stock instead of HTC.

do you know what the registry change would be to remove the htc notifications?

local machine / services / notificationmanager / Dll.
Change it from NotificationManager.dll to NotificationManager2.dll and reset the device. If it works, when you click on the speaker icon in the task bar, you should get a dialog for just the volume.
I haven't tried this with my particular version of WM 6.5.x, but it worked on the stock WM 6.5.

could be done by simple script.
I have a script which automatically change backlight settings every morning and evening.
it's very similar thing, you only need to change values for registry entries in it.
Suppose on rhodium volume could be change directly through registry.
or you may find it on xda or I'll send it if you want.
these are those entries:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume]
"Ringer"=dword:99999999
from 00000000 to FFFFFFFF = level
and for vibrate:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
"Sound"="*none*"
OR
"Sound"="*vibrate*"

this just came:

Brenda, did you ever get this working (a shortcut to a specific place in settings)? If not I've come across another way to accomplish it that's pretty simple, let me know and I can create the link for you to put on your startmenu or wherever

create an ANSI file backlightTimes.lnk with this text inside:
1#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,3,1
==
1# - num of chars -ignored by new wm
ctlpnl - calling cpl files
cplmain - main cp applet
3 - internal code - ID of applet window
1 - open on 2nd TAB
problem is some contrl panel windows are ignoring last parameter (TAB) and this one is, so you need to click again, then make your settings and click to confirm. Still not too easy

(Happy) Easter Eggs in WM6

WM6 Easter Eggs - WM6 Features (search terms)
This is a list of new and little known features in WM6.
Please add any I miss to this thread and I will try to put them in this post (with credit of course)
1. Typing on the keyboard on the today screen will automatically bring up the phone with matching contacts. Certain phone skins do not support this and you will just get a text box with scroll bars covering half the screen but nothing in it. If this happens switch your phone app with the Tweak app (varies depending on who’s WM6 you are running)
2. From Messaging (Outlook, SMS, MMS, [POP/IMAP? not tested] ) if you start typing it will search through your messages for whatever you type. Hold “H” for a list of shortcuts. I think the shortcut keys mean hold that letter.
3. Under calendar; If you create a new appointment and decide you don’t want it, you can now pres menu and cancel (cancel was not in wm5)
4. When typing in WiFi keys (WPA, WEP, whatever) you can actually see what you are typing instead of just ******.
5. The new feature I found that I love is if you go into the options for the calendar you can now set it to start in Month view (or whatever view you prefer). I couldn't stand the fact that WM5 kept reverting back to agenda!
(Thanks chymmylt!)
6. The camera finally keeps adjustments like contrast and sharpness saved.
Previously if you soft reset or power off and on the phone, these settings would always revert back to the defaults.
(Thanks abubasim!)
7. In Contacts, when you edit a contact you now have 'File As' useful if you want Forename Surname instead of the default Surname, Forename
(Thanks nbedford! [I installed the "File As" plugin and never noticed that it the ability to change it was built in =)] )
8. In Outlook, if you [Reply All] by default it copies your own email address into the recipient list, so you receive your own mails, even if you auto-save them already in Sent Folder. I found that extremely annoying because with every [Reply All] I had to manually remove my email address before sending.
You can avoid this easily:
1. Programs -> ActiveSync
2. Menu -> Options
3. Select the E-mail information type and tap Settings
4. Tap Advanced
5. Enter the e-mail address you want to remove when replying to all senders in My e-mail addresses
(Thanks aublumberg, This applys to WM5 also but not to many people know this one.)
Let me know if this is a waste of space, and if not, lets keep this thread on topic and point out all the fun reasons to use WM6.
Later, Lew
thanks. couple those i didnt know about.
not quite "easter eggs" though are they
thanks for sharing this information
i found the firts two points very usefull, and (correct me if i'am wrong) due to the lack of a propper wm6 manual i think this thread comes quite handy

Bump for added Features.
Not new, but little known and well hidden:
- press and hold the action button
- tap and hold the clock in the title bar until the dots stop moving
- when you release both the stylus and the action button, you get a small menu with an "execute" (or "run") entry. Tap that to get sort of a command line prompt.
Cheers

WIKI Pls
In the interest of WIKI and promoting the use of knowledge being written once and used many times, there is already a knowledgebase for this with lots of stuff, if you can add yours and close this, everybody will know where to go for their easter eggs...

Tap and hold the clock on the title bar lets you switch between digital and analog disply - no idea that happened until now!
I guess, you already know this...
Pressing the "power button" for 3 seconds turns off (not just standby) the device (with WM2003 it wasn't possible...)
This is probably an old one but I didn't know it myself until Googling for it:
In Solitaire, open the on-screen keyboard, tap Ctl and Shift and then Deal. It gives you the perfect hand.

Try this. Gives you a today plugin for wireless and bluetooth
Close
The only thing I would like different is if it didn't open up the comm. Manager to actually switch it, if it made the change right from the home screen it would be perfect, anyone know of something like that???I found something called cicleBT that work well however its not on the Today screen home page, I have the HTC home plugin and can put it in the app launcher and its cool. Any way of making it so it works as a plugin on the home screen.

Nice! Haven't seen this one before.
can this be changed to be a plugin
Just want to see if there was a way of making this so that it was a plugin on the today home screen say just under the HTC home plugin aligned to the left side and have my calendar show up to the right of it??? A nice little icon there that is large enough to use my finger to push???
Anyone know how to do a mod like this??
Thank you I wish I knew how to do it, any help would be appreciate.
Cheers!!
are you lookin for freeware? b/c if NOT then spb phone suite has today screen components, 1 of which is like a button that displays a sub menu allowing you to turn phone, bluetooth, and wi-fi on/off and also flight mode. you can even tap and hold on each to access more options (ex: bluetooth modes, vibrate etc.) i dont want to sound like i'm selling this to you, but it's a great app. maybe the 1 app i install over every rom.

search for a program called pockettoolman its freeware.
yeah freeware
Definately looking for a freeware to do this, not really wanting to pay for an icon on the today screen. I found this cab but can't get it to work looks like what I want but it don't work
HELP needed any good coders...............
I have found a quick launcher on the web with 5 icons to launch apps. Is there any coders out there that can manipulate this for me to 3 icons, bluetooth toggle on/off, wifi toggle on/off, and phone toggle on/off, justified to the left side of the today screen, again I am using an att 8525 with the att rom. Any help would be appreciated. thank you all in advance.
cheers,
attached is the cab for the quick launcher.
I am beating this to death
I am sorry to keep on with this, this is the last CAB that i will upload I really hope someone can help me with building what I want but til then this little plugin will suffice. Please try and help me with what I described above in the other posts. thanks.
the plugin you want CommCEntric v1.11 (hell I want it if someone can make it into a today plugin for pocket pc) is an xml file. unfortunately you need some type of a homescreen to view it. I dislike the homescreen concept because they take up so much space, but I love the look of comcentric)
hopefully anyone technically inclined can make it into a cab that will make it viewable on a pocket pc screen (not just smartphone)
CommCEntric v1.11, release date 2007/06/14

Displays a bluetooth icon and (if available) wireless icon which, upon pressure, display a context menu to quickly control their status.
how to install
Download the CAB installation package from below

str_bt1: translates "Enable Bluetooth"
str_bt1d: translates "Set discoverable"
str_btconf: translates "Configure Bluetooth"
str_wifi0: translates "Disable Wi-Fi"

The easiest way to do this is to use cLaunch (http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/~welic/claunch.html) which allows you put to icons onto your today screen. It's really configurable so you can just have a couple of icons, or your can have multliple tabs with many icons on. You need to play about with it to get it working how you want, but it'll do what you're looking for.
For the Bluetooth icon, here's a useful utility that toggles Bluetooth on and off without opening CommMgr. Copy it into Program Files on your phone and cLaunch should be able to see it so that you can have the bluetooth icon on your today screen.
An even simpler method is to stick BTSwitch in your Program Files and then map one of your soft buttons to it... No need to take up any screen real estate with pretty icons!!

Sorry, should have been more specific!
Put the BTSwitch.exe file into Windows/Start Menu/Programs. You can then use the standard Settings > Buttons method to map one of the hardware buttons to the BTSwitch programme.
You can also map one of the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen, but will need a separate utility to do that... (eg Schap's Advanced Config : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070)
Also, have a look at these threads for other ways of changing your soft keys:

There is no manual, but play with it and you will figure it out...
Good luck.

Launch app when new SMS arrives

hi,
i am trying to put together my own sms triggered workflow. for that reason i am looking desperately for an sms-trigger which does not appear in the tray bar.
i have been intensively searching for this for ages and tried all of the apps i was able to find (smstrigger, rk-sms, mortring) but they either do not work or hook into the tray bar.
i hope that somebody can help me out.
What exactly do You want to happen when sms arrive ?
I can make a simple soft not visible in traybar,
BUT it IS visible in Taskbar.
It can f.ex fetch msg-body+Timestamp+Phonenumber from sender.
And perform Shell commands if needed.
hi eurocrypt!
first of all thanks for your help - i really appreciate that.
the minimum what i need is purely to start an exe file as i could do the rest with other utilities.
but what would really help is the following:
set the following flag to the registry
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Unread\Count = 1
if the sender's number is "#####" or the sender's name is "xxxxx" (if the number is stored as "xxxxx" in contacts)
that's it.
furthermore it would be great to delete exactly this sms with a different parameter perhaps.
My Idea is as follows:
I will make it possible to start the soft with Arguments
\SMSLaunch.exe aaa bbb ccc ddd eee fff ggg
Where
------------------------------------------------------
aaa= The Phone-number/name to trigger SMSLaunch
(Will be filter function, Name or Number Uppercase and removed Spaces and '-')
Like:
Mike Willson As contact Will be triggered if MIKE is Arg.
MIKE as arg will trigger Any Mike calling.
012-123 00 00 As Incoming Nr will be triggered if 01212 is arg.
073 as arg will trigger ANY number beginning with 073.
------------------------------------------------------
bbb= Shellcommand to run (Start app)
------------------------------------------------------
ccc= Arg for above shellcommand
------------------------------------------------------
ddd= Registry-Editing-Entry
------------------------------------------------------
eee= value to set for Registry.
( 1 is static, +1 increase by one, -1 decrease by one)
------------------------------------------------------
fff= Number to reply SMS to
------------------------------------------------------
Number of Arg's will be exact, and must be set by f.ex "X" to indicate
no Action for this Arg.
If needed I can make EDit function fromSoft if Started without Arg,
Textboxes to set ARgs and then Possibility to create A Shortcut with buildin Args.
I´m a bit buzy, so it may take some time to complete this,
hope You have time to wait.
WOW. GREAT!
sure i have time. i have been searching for weeks. so take all the time you need.
i am happy with command line based tool.
instead of textboxes (which might be cool for v2) something like
SMSLaunch.exe aaa /d
to delete the sms would be great.
background for what i use this tool:
i am using homescreen ++ as the only today-plugin. many of the provider in germany do not send a vmail-notice anymore. instead you receive an sms (this can not be changed in your mailbox account settings).
your tool will work as an sms-splitter to seperate vmail-sms from the rest. the process will be to set a registry value to "1" and delete the vmail-sms. homescreen++ will display an icon instead.
i am sure that some more users will be interested in this, too.
A Q!
Is this Reg entry correct ?
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Unread\Count = 1
I have like this
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\xxxxxx\Unread\Count = 1
where xxxxxx has 4 different entries
Line1
Line2
Total
VoIP
Same in both Omnia and HTC Cruise
I use "Line1" when testing my tool now,
and looks like working OK.
But what about Value, Count=1
Is it automatically go down to Count=0
when listening to Your V-Mails ?

reg key same to me.
basically it does not matter which regkey.
you could also use hkcu\software\eurocrypt\vmail
if you want to

superb!
yeah. count =1 if vmail arrives.
can you really do that - vmail to go down to 0 if calling mailbox?
how does the prog know that i am calling my mailbox?
maybe we need to put the number into a special regkey?
if it takes too much time, it is ok to leave vmail=1
i could also reset the value with mortscript.
Progress so far:
I have added possibility to use a SMSLauncher.ini in
same folder as EXE where settings can be specified.
(Easier to config for common guys)
But still possible to use Commandline.
IF SMSLauncher.ini exist, Commandline-Args will be skipped.
It is all working right now exactly as I want it
Though it is not compiled Yet, at work
and coding this toy in my HTC Cruise
Will make a working exe tonight to let You try it.
Also ok now to set VMAIL-Count to 0 if calling Your VMail-nr.
(Using a Phone-object)
Program also checking in SMS.Text for specified Trigger
if not Number/Contact trigged it.
To make it possible to send SMS to do some action
depending on SMS-Text.
Maybe I will add possibility to add sveral Trigger-entries in SMSLauncher.ini
to make it possible to send SMS to make different tasks in Phone.
..................................................................................
Exampel of SMSLauncher.ini
(Use 1 line in SMSLauncher.ini like the one below)

aa;bb;cc;dd;ee;ff;gg;hh;ii
aa= SMS.Number/SMS.Body to trigg SMSLauncher actions
bb= Path to EXE for Shell Command
cc= Argument for Shellcommand
dd= Root For Registry writing
ee= Path to Registry Entry
ff= Registry ENtry Name
gg= Value to set
(1= Allways set to 1)
(+1= Add 1 to existing value)
(-1= Subtract 1 from existing value)
hh= A number to reply Incoming SMS to
ii= Number to Your V-MAIL
(If this is set, Reg-Count will be set to 0)
All positions (9 Pos) must be set,
if no action will be used, set Upper case X
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exampel only Reg change trigged on 123456 and removed Reg-Count on V-Mail number 133
123456;X;X;HKCU;System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread;Count;1;X;133
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When use Commandline instead of SMSLauncher.ini,
use same syntax but replace ';' with a space ' '
in commandline. like this
\Windows\SMSLauncher.exe 123456 X X HKCU System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread Count 1 X 133
understood. everything is clear. well done.
i have already written my ini-file, directory has been created and everything is prepared to start testing.
this app will eliminate lots of screen tappings.
Hopefully a working version
Read Readme-FIle for exact syntax in SMSLauncher.ini
(9 entries must be inside it, set as Upper Case X
if nothing to do in some section)
2 DLL's must be in same foldeer as EXE-file
Phone.dll + Outlook.dll
It will start with Form Shown,
You have to Minimize it Yourself,
either by getting menu and pick on "Today Scrreen"
or any other available way to do it.
does not work at the moment.
my ini looks like this:
5500;X;X;HKCU;System\State\Messages\sms\Unread;vmail;1;X;5500
have also tried it with
Mailbox;X;X;HKCU;System\State\Messages\sms\Unread;vmail;1;X;5500
sms comes in and regkey still stays at 0
on the other hand your app has started to send out continuously my last sms i have been sending out 6 hours ago
Looks like Your Reg-Path is wrong,
try this
5500;X;X;HKCU;System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread;Count;1;X;5500
(WATCH OUT! NO SPACES IN MY LINE ABOVE UNREAD with No Space inside)
It is working perfectly for me
Is 5500 the number You call to Your Voicemail ?
Is it also the number from where You got sms to tell You got VMAIL ?
yes 5500 is the number from where i receive the sms from and which is my voicebox number.
i think it is not a good idea to use the reg key above as the os is using this key as well.
if you set the value to 1 you will see a vmail-icon appearing in your taskbar.
just to be sure: it should work with any other reg key, shouldn't it?
Hmm I must have totally missed You :-(
I thought You wanted the soft to make your phone
show You got VMail even though You only have a common
SMS from Your Provider telling You have VMail.
I thought problem was You didn't get
Your Phone to "understand" it was Vmail.
Anyway,
Soft can run any app in your phone (with or without Argument)
trigged upon Incoming Phone-Nr or keyword in SMS.Body.
It can reply Incoming SMS.Body+Nr to
Phone-Number of Your Choice.
It can also set Registry-Key of Your Choice
Same Reg-Key can be set to 0 if You call Nr of Your Choice.
no, you understood me totally right. the only "difference" might be that i am using homescreen++ to handle sms and email notifications. i have even disabled the notification bubbles as they annoy me...
bottom line: great work and support! will test it out tonight
Additional Info ...
If You use SMS.Text for triggering,
Word/Words are Case Sensitive
rgds Eurocrypt
Ideas:
Is there need for more functions..
Also Trigg it on incoming PhoneCall ?
Multiple Lines/Triggers in SMSLauncher.ini
to do different tasks depending on Number/SMS.Text ?
Send SMS to change Parameters ?
(<password:..new config..assword>)
Any other ideas are welcome .
I´m hobbyist Just started to play with this,
so to complex tasks are not possible for me to handle.
i would do the following:
possible to run smslauncher in background, i.e. hidden app so that it does not appear in the task manager (i have configured my device to close all apps when locking screen). in this case we need an extra switch to close smslauncher.
another function might be to delete the sms where smslauncher is set to beactivated. i.e. if sms from 5500 activates smslauncher, your app should execute the command line or set the registry value AND (if an optional switch /d is set) instantly delete the sms.
you could also think about, what you proposed, to make text and sender's name available in a registry key.
a lot of people here e.g those who have put together their own manila style GUI, will thank you for this as there is currently no easy way to display sms/email information on the todayscreen.

Cannot select multiple files in File Explorer

Just found another problem with my TP2. I want to move some files to another location but I cannot select multiple files in File Explorer by draging the stylus to highlight them.
Is this behaviour by design or is there a bug on my device?
Shd be by default. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
I use resco for multiple file selections.
Simple.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Gestures\Touch]

It works! Thx Monx!
No problem. If the avatar is you, what about gimme a simple kiss. if it not u, pls dont. i'm not gay. but ur avatar is really cute . sorry off topic. just cant resist
(you know i'm kidding)
I also was looking for this solution.
And indeed, it works.
But it introduces another problem: To switch between your mail account, you can swipe from left to right.
But after this patch, that doesn't work anymore
So I've put the old setting back.
@ronh
can u give more details about email switch by swipe mate?
in manila or messaging app? mine is just fine. maybe there is some tmob customization.

It's in the messaging app, not in manilla.
When you're in the messaging app, and you move your finger from left to right, it toggles between the configured mail accounts.
In mine TP2 for example: Outlook - Gmail - SMS (and then it starts over with Outlook.)
And although my provider is TMO, I have an unbranded Touch Pro2 WWE edition.
@ronh
Ok mate, got it, thanks (i always use navigation pad with raphael to do this)
Just for info, in wm6.5, we can swipe to switch between tab (iehone settings). So it cause a side effect in messaging.

Indeed, that's a problem.
The Xperia I had recognized if you are using the finger or the stylus. When using the finger the application scrolls and when using the stylus you can draw a frame to multiselect items.
Maybe that's possible with the TP2 too?

Maybe it is related to OS build features or AKU changes.
Surely by disabling that reg key you're pretty much switching touchflo off?
So scrolling of anything in any WM apps (contacts, text messages, emails, calendar entries) will no longer work without using the scroll bar?
I just checked stock shipped Raphael (SEA 20764) OEMDrivers rgu, the value is set to 1 by default. And yes, messaging still scrollable to switch email account
I can still left< >right scroll between email accounts after this tweak.

after this tweak can you make a zoom to photos with stylus or rotate photos...????
You mean in photo albums? I have never been able to do either, even before the tweak.
I can double tap the image to enlarge it, or use the slider at the bottom of the screen to zoom in.
In any case, the inability to group files together in File Explorer is more of an issue for me than being able to rotate a photo (can always turn the phone 90 degrees instead), and the registry tweak has fixed that.
Very strange, just tried it again: With the patch --> no swiping, undoing the patch --> swipings works.
Too bad, I'd loved to have the best of 2 worlds like Mesquire...
(I guess she looks the TP2 lovely in his display )
Hi all,
The easy way to select multiple files in Explorer is the Windows way of selecting multpile files. Just press CRTL on your keyboard (you have one ) en select the files you want... It's Windows isn't it?

so weird! My TP2 suddenly lost it even with this set to 1
already tried rebooting: still nada.
UPDATE:
on further investigation, I found I can select multiple files only in some folders, e.g., root directory of the storage card, My wallpapers, Templates, files and folders directly under My Device, Application Data, Program Files...
but not files directly under My Documents, whether under My Device or storage card
UPDATE #2
The only way to have the ability to select multiple files in any folder AND keep left< >right scroll to switch email accounts is to set the it to 1, but not reboot. If I reboot with it set to 1, it behaves like the above.
Right now I have decided to set to 1 only when I need to select multiple files with the stylus, and change it back to 0 thereafter, or before a reboot. What a pain!

True
but I prefer doing in portrait - if I open the keyboard to use its CTRL key, the screen switches to landscape mode.

Display Owner Information on WM Lock Screen

This may be my dumbest post ever, but I find nothing on the topic. I lost my phone 2 nights ago and a nice lady found it and took it home to contact me. By then it locked to the default WM lock screen. Because it had locked, she could not see owner information and returned it to the restaurant. I got it back today.
Question, absent a Manila editor or 3rd party app (e.g. S2U2) is there any way to display owner information on the lock screen of a wm 6.5 sense (manila) stock rom?
M$ must have thought of this but I have no idea how to do it. Sorry if there are 1,000 posts somewhere on this topic.
Thank you!!!

Seems like such a good idea, id also be interested in this!
I don't yet have 6.5 but in 6.1 you go to Settings>Personal (Tab)>Owner Information>Options (Tab) and put a checkmark next to "Identification information" for the setting "When the device is turned on, display:"
Has this setting been removed from 6.5?

Thank you, but it is no longer there. It must be somewhere!
Setting owner information
I have a UK TP2
The only way I can find to display owner info is
From Getting Started, Set background, Change background image, Items tab
Disable HTC Sense, enable Owner Into - there you can enter the data and set to display on start-up
I hope this helps

Thank you, but it does not show when the device is locked in Manila. M$ and HTC are soooo stupid!
On my HTC Touch Pro 2 once its locked i get the owner information when i wake the device, but it seems that once you press the screen to access the unlock screen, you cant get back to the owner information unless you unlock the phone. Its a bit stupid that when you press the power button to put the device to sleep it brings up the owner information every time, but when its locked it doesnt. Pretty stupid if you consider that the only time you really need the owner information to be constant is when you lose your phone or it gets stolen!
I've been googling the whole weekend and did not find anything. Still searching.
Does somebody have any idea about how to show owner info ? As TPC knows the way to move right/left/down the "slide" button, is there a way to add the owner info to the screen ?
(I know S2U does have this option, but I mean using the built-in new unlock feature in WM6.5)
Owner info on lock screen HTC TP2
Anybody who help me out with the owner info on the lock screen? It worked fine in the previous BIOS version and in the latest released BIOS update it 's gone.
I'm able to fill in all the owner details, but it's not displayed when I switch on the device.
Awaiting for a positive response
Kindly regards
Andries
This is something I'd like to do as well. My previous Blackberrys had this and it was a nice feature.
I'm not on wm6.5 but try using WM's built-in Lock feature. On wm6.1 and before, owner's info is displayed before showing the password screen
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-5/Lock-your-phone-touch.aspx
Has anyone found a good solution to displaying the owner information yet? I had put it in the 'hint' but this only appears after you have mistyped the password several times.
Ok, I've found a solution. You can change the text that appears under the slider (usually 'slide'). I've changed to my name followed by my phone number.
You can find it here.

It's a good (provisory) solution !! I think it's the best way to tell whose is the device or what to do in emergency case.
Now, what about connecting what is inside the sentence in the .cpr file to another file ? Does somebody think it's possible ? Or maybe the .dll file could be adapted to read from the "username" keys in the registry ?? (sorry for my question, I have no idea about programming)
Another way
I changed my welcomehead.192.png file to my own picture, and included text in the picture with my name and a request to call a phone number if the phone is found. All you need to have is a program that can put out a 480X800 PNG and be able to add text.
EDIT: The file has to be moved to the \Windows directory. This file says up for almost a minute when the phone boots.

Thank you for the tip! Between getting my name and email in the lock slider, and my DL# and email addresses in the boot screens, I should be good to to for now...just need to install RemoteTracker!
Setting Owner Information on Touch Pro 2
The option to do this easily was removed in 6.5. To enable this follow the advice below:
1. Navigate to Settings, All Settings, Today
2. Click on the Items tab
3. Disable HTC Sense
4. Enable “Owner Info” and tap OK.
5. Enter the Owner information that you would like displayed on the Today screen.
6. Highlight the "Owner Information", and go to the Options tab
7. Check that the "When the device is turned on Display" Identification information is enabled
8. Go back to Item 1 and re-enable HTC Sense
9. The Owner Information will now show when the phone is locked
EDIT: My ROM's Chef said that selecting the 'Owner Info' option will not allow the 'Options' button to function even though 'Owner Info' is enabled for the ROM that I am currently using. However, I was successful in changing my lock screen text by using the 1st posted method above (Customize or Remove Lock Screen Text).
I edited both "TapOrSlide" and "SlideToUnlock", because I noticed that my custom text would not display if I received a notification. Also, keep the number of characters to a minimum, so that it displays correctly. If it is too long, the far left and far right characters will fall off the screen.
Hmm, wonder if there's a way to add additional lines to the displayed text???
Many thanks to the original poster for posing a question that I didn't even know I needed to know!

Thanks so much for this, however, for some reason the "Options" button is greyed out (unavailable) in the Today Screen Item Settings page even though I have Owner Info highlighted... Damn! May have to try the other method. Anyone have any success with either?
I've also sent a message to my ROM's Chef asking if this is a bug or whether this is an option that was somehow left out of the build that I'm using.
Debbie
jamiemckee posted a good solution that I use. Make a reg edit to revert back to the WM6.1 Device Lock & do away with the 6.5 Lockscreen. Just your Today Screen shows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Enable
Default Value: 1 (for Sliding lock screen)
Changed Value: 0 (for soft key lock a la wm6.1)
I found this because I actually WANTED to disable the default WM6.5 lockscreen as I prefer the soft key unlock, partly because of the memory the sliding lock uses, and also because I want to be able to see the gorgeous sense 2.5 interface when I turn my phone on to see the time.
BK
This functionality has to be in the 6.5 OS somewhere. I used to have a TouchPro 2 with 6.1 and it displayed the owner information during power up. To get this information to appear on my Tilt 2, I had to download and install an app called SKTools. Now I have an applet in the Personal settings under the Settings option in the start menu where one wasn't before.
