not trying to insult your intellince but 1) make sure your wifi on your pc is working, 2) go to your settings and ensure that your wifi is enabled.

[Q]Some issues with CM6.0

Just rooted my 2.2 OTA today, guess i m pretty much a n00b for new ROMs and etc. Anyway, I flashed the current CM6.0(including, kernal + google addons). After boot successfully, i found there is one issue with my evo, i cannot connect to my home wireless network(no password issue). Status(showing in the menu option) repeats "scanning ---> connecting ---> authorizing --> disconnecting", and in WiFi network option, it says "disabled, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK".
Anyone can help me out? Thank you...
Based on what you said, it is a password/authorization issue. Triple-check your password, and if you still can't figure it out, hop on #CyanogenMod on Freenode, or open a ticket in the Issue Tracker.
If you can't Google/Search enough to figure out what the Issue Tracker or Freenode are, then I'm sorry, but Android is not the OS for you.

I am having a similar issue (CM 6.0 final). In my case I get "scanning ---> connecting ---> disconnected".
I was working properly with 2.1 and 2.2 (HTC). I reseted the router and also tried open network. The rest of my wireless devices can connect to the router; only my EVO cannot.

[Q] CMDA Android 2.2 Froyo Wi-fi unable to scan.

Hello guys my problem is this:
I booted my windows 6.5 to android 2.2 froyo CMDA. everything was working when i saw that i cannot connect to wifi. My friend also installed same android and his wifi was working but mine isnt.. When i open wifi settings i turn on my wifi, it says scanning... but after 5 sec it automatically stops scanning and turns itself off. Then some message appears on screen : The application settings(process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly.
I already have a modem at home and I used to connect on it with my WM wi-fi. I tried rebooting etc.. Nothing happens.
Its not cause of my modem because i already tried to connect to another existing wifi connections.
If you have already faced this problem and solved it or have any good suggestions, please reply.
1) WEP encryption does NOT work
2) If you updated, you MUST update both the zImage AND the modules files.
3) Some TP2's just don't work on wifi. You may be one of the unlucky ones.

Updated RIL (06.08.11)

I have made some updates to the RIL which is the driver for the radio in the phone and would like some people to test it and let me know if they have any issues with signal (as in no service at all from their provider when they did before the update) and also data problems. Apply the update like any other update, from the android installer menu.
EDIT 6.8.11::
Hello again, done some more updates on the RIL for you all. Seems to sync with the modem app a little better for those that just can't let go. Still don't think it's necessary though. Anyway, a few more minor improvements I believe, give it a go.
Hi Scoot thanks for sharing new kernel and updates for us..
I didn't check ext4 or ext2 compatibility because I always do nand installation, but about RIL update I do have signal issue.
After fresh install, my device gets no services at all but after turn on and of ariplane mode and a very long wait, finally the signal reception is fine. Oh, I guess there is also a problem with data connection because sometimes even with 3G or gprs icon appears in status bar, I get no data traffic in or out when I tried to open market or browser. But when it happened, I do airplane mode again and sometimes it fix the problem
I've tried in both your CM 7 and 6.1.2 with Radio1.65.21.18
Hi Scoot, is a HaRET bootable version possible?

Hello Leona, i appreciate the donation i received a while ago, little things like that make working on this even more rewarding and worth the challenge You can obviously test the RIL with haret and I have attached a zImage to the first post which you can put in your haret folder
The zImage is untested because i don't use haret so let me know if there are any problems.
Thanks Scoot and no problem.
The Kernal seems to boot fine.
I'm having the usual fun of trying to get into the install menu, so have not been able to apply the update yet, will let you know.
Thanks Scoot, seems to work fine - I don't get any signal problems with the your new kernel and RIL. Data is working correctly too. (using your CM6.1.2 build with radio 1.65.21.18)
What kind of changes have you made to the RIL?

There are a couple of snags with the RIL, in terms of call performance it is much better, but with data after turning it off and turning on again it fails to get a correct IP, but going into the modem app and turning off then waiting for it to turn on and reassign an IP works so I need to look into that. THe RIL has changed massively, lots of bug fixes and extra stuff added in. Signal strength is now reporting correctly rather then just having either no bars, 2 or 4. In theory calls should come in a little faster too but we'll see. There is still work to be done, mainly to data though, i'd like to get it working like a native android phone being run from the ppp service rather then a script which deals with it all at the minute. This should then do away with the modem app so it can be fully controlled by the OS.
Hi have managed to apply the update now, and can confirm that all works well, yes I noticed that the data connection failed at first, but switching between the two o2 options seemed to fix it.

Scoot are the changes made to Ril kernel specific?

The RIL isn't kernel specific, the kernel was just something else I had been working on so you can apply the RIL update regardless of kernel
Excellent,thanks Scoot.
It seems to be working fine except for data issues that you have mentioned before. Now it really shows the correct signal strenght, where I had zero bars before (which was kind of odd) now it shows one bar. Great update.
I update my RIL before 20 min and for now everything look fine.
I haven't tried the RIL yet, but the kernel works well. I had an issue where ramzswap was crashing the kernel whenever compcache did the insmod, but then realized that it was an old module, and that you provided zram.ko instead.
So, the question: does somebody have a compcache.sh that works with zram? Or, a zramconfig utility compiled for our target? I miss my compcache!
I'll try RIL soon.

To answer my own question, this edit of compcache.sh seems to work for me.
Also, I have your new RIL installed now, and it seems good. Cell-tower location seems to work, although I'm not sure because I haven't moved to a different tower yet. HSDPA data works, and I have one bar right now.
Kernel works fine except standard crash during sleep (can't wake up, qwerty backlight on) once a day. Boots normallly from Haret, no waiting.
RIL kills my data connection, works after turning airplane mode on/off.

Is the connection issue strictly for Haret users, or is NAND affected as well?
I've been running 2 phones, one with .25, the other with .32.9, both Liqid's and 1.70.19.9 radio.
Also, AT&T is doing upgrades to our area right now so I might not be a good candidate for testing, but I can give feedback as soon as I get it installed.

It is an issue for all users, the problem is in the 'kill connection' code in the ril. I'll be trying to fix it when i get a chance but for now it doesn't stop data from working, it just means that the radio or modem needs to be turned off and on either by toggling airplane mode or using the modem app included in most builds
Tried it with 7.0.2 RLS2 /system on nand /data on ext4. Took a long time to acquire t-mobile and even longer after in/out of airplane mode. Did get a data connection but had to go back to airplane mode after using wifi (wifi worked great). Had it on about 7 hours and received a couple of calls. It woke up for me to answer after 4 rings on the caller end. Then I had to make a call and it hung up immediately after dialing the number(tried several times and numbers). Other than no out calling it settled down and was very usable. May try 6.1.2 (RLS6) tomorrow pm. Thanks for the hard work
Hey does this kernel contains the optimizations for battery use done by Krazy? Cause with his kernel i get a lot of lag after a long sleep period!

[Q] Wifi and CM9

Hey,
After fresh install of FXP 128 my wifi worked for few hours, but later it refuses to connect to any wifi, because the "signal is too low" or something.. how to fix this?
Actually try getting close to your modem/router first and connecting again or if its still unable to connect reboot your phone

Already did that, didn't help.
Then CM9 probably has an issue with wifi, i guess you'll have to wait until an new RC comes out
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28442213&postcount=2998
Delete /data/misc/dhcp/dhcp_list
I have no files in dhcp/
Another wifi problem
I was also having trouble getting wifi to work using JJ hybrid mix 3.1 + Arcknight kernel 3,3 and 3,4, had to use stock kernel
The solution from JJ'to reboot after installing he's kernel didn't work for me.
I've had cyanogenmod 7.2 installed prior JJ.
I've wanted to post this error to JJ's thread under development, but I don't have enough posts made.

I'm sorry for mistake. I used to have some similar funny situation... wifi in my brother's house is protected by WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] and my arc can't connect to him router (authorization problem ?!) . I have the same router and the same protection protocol and in my home wifi works good.
(Sorry for ungrammatical English)
I'm also having a poor signal even when my router is very close to me...I have 2 WiFi routers and from both I get the same issue...I have deleted the files on dhcp folder but doesn't have the dhcp_list folder neither...
I have installed CM9 and previously had SE standard ROM 4.0.4
Any idea what to do?

Router crashing with new Jelly Time rom

Hey guys,
I tried searching and could not find a similar problem.
Since getting the new rom I have noticed that my wireless router has been experiencing connection issues. all my devices show connectivity but i dont have access to the net. Anyways i decided to have a look and the android is creating multiple Ip entries on the router with the same mac address and everytime I turn the wifi off on my phone the problem does not occur.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Why don't you try binding the MAC Address to a static IP so it's no longer able to create multiple entries on the DHCP Table?
tjturko13 - have you tested to use another standard 802.11 Modus - instead "n"? Just switch it at your phone or router.
What router do you have? Can you update the firmware? ^^

Did you get your new rom over the air? (Stock rom)
Or did you flash a custom rom?
You have to give us more software informations about your rom. Is your device s-on or s-off?
Stock rom you need the right RUU exe file. Just doubleclick - yes yes yes
Custom rom you need to download the custom boot.img.

I'm sorry for you.
- You could even try to change the wifi-channel to 1, 4 or 6 and disable wifi-security in the second attempt for test only.
- Try also to set a static ip in your phone (for your wlan).
- If you are bored you can reset the whole router to its factory defaults and leave all standard. Just enable wlan (and the isp connection) - but dont change the default ssid, wlan-security or channel etc.
Otherwise I have no more ideas.
With google you can find dozens of users crashing their routers with android or ios phones . Good luck dude!

Ive had this problem to since switching to 'randomblame's kernel based ROMS (jellytime CM, jellytime aokp and jellytime by PACMAN - Paranoid, CM and AOKP).
Apparently it is a kernel issue and the only thing you can do is some of the things above or here
I was here hoping there might be a fix... I tried static IP, changing the router channel, WIFI never sleep etc etc etc.
The only workaround I found so far was to turn off wifi when Im done, it only seems to break when the phone is inactive for 5 minutes +.

Exact same problem here. It took some time before I figured out that my phone was overwriting my gateway's MAC address, but I finally saw that message from another machine in my network:
Code:
arp info overwritten for 192.168.1.254 by 91:31:58:5d:e8:34
1.254 being my gateway's IP. I also tried giving my phone a static DHCP entry but it just didn't change anything. Any useful sysctl maybe ?
FWIW, it seems I "fixed" that issue by making my routers MAC address association permanent on my (manageable) switch. That obviously don't fix the real problem, but does not shut down the router's NIC. FYI, on a GNU/Linux machine, this is done with the arp command, i.e.:
Code:
# arp -s 192.168.1.254 00:ca:fe:ba:be:00
192.168.1.254 being your router's IP
