Desire always on speaker phone.. - Desire General

Hey , I have had my desire a few weeks now. I have a problem with it.
Every time i make a phone call or accept a phone call the phone will switch to speaker phone. This happens before i put the phone up to my ear so it is not my face that is turning on speaker phone. If i hold the phone in my hand and dial a number and press call, it goes to speaker phone. If the phone rings and i answer it, it will always go straight to speak phone.
Has anyone had this problem?

My guess: somehow your phone thinks it's charging/docking. Check your connector for dirt.

If nothing else helps you could try this app (actually a widget) in the Market:
Car Mode
With this you can turn the speaker phone mode on/off. Unless your phone has a hardware problem that forces it to be always on...

The connection seems fine to me. I will put a can of compressed air to it tomorrow. Cheers

I tried the app.. Unfortunately it didn't work. I may have to send the phone back to htc.

Don't bother before you flash to stock ROM/do a full wipe (factory reset). If none of those work, it's likely borked

Hi all !
I have been stuck for 2 weeks on this issue.
I have tried all those things :
- Switch off and then switch on the phone
- Remove and reinsert the battery
- Remove and reinsert the SIM Card
- Clean up the USB connector (and there were lots of dusts inside)
- Hard reset to the factory settings
Nothing has solved the problem.
BUT I have found a SOLUTION and also a process to see if you have the same problem as me :
1) Create a shortcut on your home screen and add this shortcut : Shortcut -> Parameter -> Car dock (the icon is a padlock)
2) Click on this shortcut and enable Auto start feature
3) A little car icon will appear in the status bar if there is a short circuit at that moment
4) Take your mini usb cable and plug it into the phone usb connector (without connecting the cable to an electrical outlet nor your PC, we don't want to charge the phone, in fact it doesn't matter but I advice you to not charge it during the process)
5) Now track if the car icon is present, if it is, just move up and down and left and right the cable to check if it's not a hardware short circuit like it is for me (!!). If the car icon appears and disappears during the process while you are moving the cable, then it's a hardware short circuit problem (nothing to do with some kind of software bug as mentioned by some people).
To fix the problem permanently you have 2 choices :
5.1) Take your phone back to the shop
5.2) My solution if you are a lazy man like I am : use the cable to twist correctly the male connector (the one inside the phone) to the correct position. For me the correct position was : lay down your phone on a table, screen upwards, you must twist the connector upwards too. The direction to twist the connector is from the bottom (the table) to the up (the screen) = If you take your phone in front of you and you are looking at the screen, twist the connector towards yourself.
I have fixed the problem this way.
I hope you will be able to fix it too.
Jérémy.

I ve got HDH and I ve instaled 'all call recorder' since then everithing was okay...but after 1-2 weeks this issue was happening speaker always on on recieving call or making a call.so my oppinion uninstal(if you have) call recorder app.it will fix this issue.cheers!

Turning off the phone but leaving GPS on. Is it possible?

I was wondering is it possible to switch off the phone but leave gps on?
I am using Artemis as GPS on my motorcycle. It is annoying when phone starts ringing while you ride. Because of my annoying girlfriend I missed two exits of a motorway before she stoped ringing .... and well GPS told me that I missed them after she stopped. Artemis is in my pocket so I can not look at the screen. Also I am not mad to hold a bike with 1 hand at 80mph+ to look at screen or reject the call by pressing a button(not duable in gloves any how) .
Can't you just switch off the phone via the Comm Manager? I can't imagine that this will affect the GPS Reception, since they have to be two different aerials and devices?!

I'm in the same situaiton, use the Orbit GPS in my pocket, eaphone running to my ear when on the motorbike. Verbal TomTom is just enough. I just turn off the phone function in the com manager to stop calls. Works fine.
I do switch off my phone from comm manager and my GPS stops working at the same time.
Maby it's something with my MDA . Well I'll keep on trying.

Is there anyway to just shut off the phone's radio so that everything else
such as BlueTooth, WiFi, Ifrd still stays active? I know that with certain
OS ROMs such as Dutty's WM6 v2 you can control each item without
affecting the other. If you used "flight mode" I think that would kill your
BT connection assuming you're using a BT GPS.
As i said, when i simply switch off the Phone in Comm Manager, no other device is affected, Bluetooth works fine, as well as GPS Reception and TomTom.
I got fed up of fumbling around, pressing the screen by accident when it was in my pocket and just ordered a Ram Mount Aqua Box for the bike so that I can see TomTom and use the touch screen as well:
http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-hol-aq2.htm
There's a base that bolts on to one of the clipons on the triple clamp, with the arm joining the base and box. Not cheap, but it lets you do you what you need to with the phone and keeps it dry.
If you are looking at them, don't be tempted to get the smaller box though - the artemis will fit inside, but the surround on the touchscreen membrane means that you can't get to all of the buttons or the edge of the screen. Works an absolute treat with a pair of Shure E2C earphones which block out the road noise. Only downside it's a bit fiddly getting the helmet on and off.
Been looking at the Interphone too, basically a bluetooth headset for your helmet which will also double as a wireless intercom, but I think the jury's still out

I got the bracket that bolts on to the clip-on clamp:
http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-b-309-1.htm
I've got a thundercat which has clip ons rather than handlebars. If you've got standard handlebars rather than clipons then I would say a u bolt is the type of clamp you want.
Hi all, with regards to the gps function being 'turned off' when in flight mode. It just seems to be a quirk with the latest version of TomTom.
Managed to get around it tho
If you choose the 'inbuilt gps' from tomtoms menu then, in flight mode tomtom wont use the gps....bit daft eh!
If you choose 'other cabled' gps from tomtoms menu (com4) then tomtom will use the gps function whether you are in flight mode or not..
Hope that helps

Position sensor or something?

Ok, it seems there is a position sensor in TyTN (correct me if I'm wrong). When my phone is in its case on my belt and it's turned on (usually by a call), it's rotated (as if the keyboard's open). It takes too long time for it to rotate, and I can't answer the call until it rotates back to normal. So my question is, can this sensor be turned off, or is there other thing, that makes the screen to rotate and eventually how can I solve the problem? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'm useing Schap's ROM, but the problem existed in the official rom, and the Black rom, and the official WM5 rom
no position sensor that I know of and I have never had this problem :s

Yeah, there is a position sensor on the hermes. It's a magnetic sensor that detects whether the keyboard is open or not.
The problem is most likely your case. I've heard of issues like yours. The magnetic snap on the case fools the hermes into thinking the keyboard is open.
I don't believe that there is a fix to bypass the sensor, as it is hardware. But I may be wrong. If not then you might need to look at another case that uses velcro or something.

ah now that would make sense, i never use that stupid case that comes with it, they are really ugly! so that would explain why i never noticed it.
My wife came up with a great solution when I had this poblem (standard case causing phone to start in landscape) - turn the phone the other way round! Now I have the screen facing my belt and the phone is ALWAYS in portrait when I get it out.
Sounds silly, but try it - it works!
Yep, that's a sollution, but there is one other detail. There's no other position I can plug the earphones .

Solution..... Bluetooth Headphones.
It appears to be a magnetic switch...
Your case must have a strong magnet on it, I can't get it to effect the switch if the phone is completely closed. Only if I have it partially open.

I have exactly the same problem. Also, my phone is NEVER put into standby before closing the keyboard.
I'm going to try storing it with the screen facing towards my belt.
I simply use Brando case and HTC BT S-100 headset. and never have a problem with phone starting in landscape.

I've come to notice that no one REALLY knew how to fully disable screen rotation on WM devices.
Some offered 3rd party apps to get the job done, some only knew how to disable automatic rotation, but when the device went into standby and woke up again - the screen rotated back. So that didnt really work.
So if you're as desperate as i was about screen rotation,
this is what you need to do:
1. Get dotfred's free taskmanager HERE, and run it.
2. Go to "Devices" tab, and look for "MIS1:" device (oem_misc.dll)
3. Long-Tap on it, and tap on "Stop"
4. Long-Tap on it again, and now choose "Set Manual"
5. Go to "Notifications" tab, and look for "Notifications\NamedEvents\VCPowerWakeupEvent"
6. Tap on it to make it selected
7. Disable it
(In dotfred's taskmanager, there should be a button for disabling it, but for some reason some devices couldn't see the button icons, although the buttons are still clickable. Under the notifications list there is an empty light-blue line - the buttons are there, eventough you can't see them.
The disable buttons is somewhere i the middle of that light-blue line, just tap the center until a message box popps up and asks if you'd like to disable this notification - Tap on yes.)All those steps are a one time deal - they stick even after an SR.
This has been tested on htc universal and works great.
The screen will keep its orientation even if you flip your screen, take out your built in keyboard, or turn the device off and back on.
The only time your screen will revert back to the original orientation is when you soft reset your device.
Hope this helps

It's also the way to receive less radiation in your body, because the GSM antenna is pointing away from your waist.

I can, and I used a Tesla-meter to measure them:
in-between the two magnets of the case and the lid, there are around 150 mT (Millitesla) which is pretty much!
for comparison:
a usual horseshoe magnet would have 1 mT, the magnetic field of the earth has about 0,05 mT!

A few BT Niggles

Hi Guys,
Ive got a few BT niggles which im sure are easy enough to get round when someone starts getting some custom roms out but i cant seem to find a way around them at the minute, issues are:
- When phone is in standby (aka screen off) and you try and make a call via bluetooth car kit it turns phone and on says please unlock before making a call, if i turn the screen on before making the call it goes through.
- When you disconnect from car kit aka turn the car off etc it comes up with a notification and says its been disconnected and to hold the phone to your ear, this doesnt go away until you press dismiss.
None of these problems are show stoppers by any means but they are annoying when you just want to get in / out the car and making calls etc, aka i cant just get in the car and make a call, i have to turn the screen on first, and i cant get out the car and carry on as ive got to press dismiss on the screen as it keeps the phone switched on (screen on) until you press dismiss so i could accidentally press buttons etc plus will wear battery down.
If anyones managed to work these problems out then please let me know!
Cheers
Jas
Voice Command V1.6
Hi Guys,
I also have a problem with bluetooth... well voice command.
I had the TYTN 2 with WM6.1 working perfectly with VC 1.6 and so naturally assumed that TP2 would be the same, sadly I was wrong :-(
It doesnt even try to use the software, bluetooth connects perfectly but I cannot initiate VC with the usual hardware button.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problems - in an Audi A6 for what it's worth. On my TP2 had both a PIN device lock and the option to show owners info when switched on.
Disabled both of these, and it now works perfectly in the car. Not quite sure which was causing the problem and may reinstate PIN followed by Show Owners Info to try to isolate.
TP2 Brilliant phone - have been using a TyTn2 for the last 18 months or so which I also thought was exceptional.
desperately seeking BT DUN
Hi all,
I am missing to be able to connect my TP2 via Bluetooth to my Nokia mobiles (N73, 5800) which do not provide PAN or NAP profiles but only DUN.
I need to use the SIM-card in the Nokia for the data-only connection whilst using the SIM-card in TP2 for phone-only connection.
I tried all the tricks in this and other forums. Unfortunately the most promising approach ("New installation file for Bluesoleil drivers! " - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251995) doesn't let me download the file.
Who got it to work? Who knows how to enable in the TP2?
thank you, Franky

Problem WiFi+mic when reassembling (screen change)

Hello everyone!
I explain my situation:
I broke the screen of my phone (Xperia Arc S LT18i). So I used a tutorial to change my screen ->
During reassembly, I had two problems:
- The main micro phone does not work anymore (so I ordered the circuit 3 buttons at the bottom of the phone where the mic on ebay, I think it can necessarily come here, because no groundwater is damaged ).
- I can no longer activate the WiFi (I tried to reboot lots of times, but no results). When I go to Settings, WiFi menu is grayed out so I did not hand over the activation of WiFi and when I go into the WiFi menu, it stays on "Turning on WiFi." (same as the micro, no groundwater is damaged!)
I wanted to know where could this possibly be, and whether there is a complete nomenclature of the phone to find out where the module WiFi Hardware level.
Thank you for your answers

About screen turn off and on problem

Hi,
I am using Note II, stock ROM and unrooted....Only install a few apps like facebook, line, whatapps, viber, candy crush.....everything works fine....
I found a problem and hope friends here can give me some advices...
My screen turn off during answering call but sometimes the screen won't turn back on automatically when I move the phone away from ear....I have tried the following when the screen remains off:
a) open and close the flip cover
b) move the finger to cover the censor and then move away
c) shake the phone up and down
d) turn the phone back and front
All the above actions failed to turn the screen on..I have to press the home button in order to turn it on..
I already check the censor in #*0*# mode and the censor works well...
I am wondering why sometimes can work, sometimes cannot work..
anybody facing the same problem? is it software bugs or hardware failure?
Thanks for help!!
P/S:
I have done censor test in development mode, factory reset and clear call cache.....
Don't know why sometimes still failed to turn screen on....every time my wife complain the screen won't turn on, i told her to dial again, like to those customer service line which need to key-in menu selection 1-2-3-4-5, the screen turn on well to let her key in number....wired....
maybe like 70% success 30% fails...
i also get this most of the time. i talked to 2 reps at local stores and 1 had just recently heard the same complaint about the same phone. it is likely the proximity sensor.my screen even goes dark before i put it to my face so if i wanted to use speaker and / or input anything, i couldnt even if i wanted to. i have had to wait a whole minute a few times before the screen comes back on or reboot the phone. i talke to samsung tech support to ask if i send it in will the sensor be replaced with a known good part and i kinda got the runaround stock answer . ( theyll test and fix or replace with refurb) which means i am likely to get the same issue.
dunno, otherwise great device.
