before buying HTC DESIRE - can it record Videos with more than 15 FBS?? and more qust - Desire General

is it possible / will be possible that the HTC DESIRE will record Video in more than 15 FBS?? maybe in HD quality ?
if no - why is that so ??
and is there any chance that it will get an landscap view on the music player?
thanks a lot...

no. Why? Cuz HTC is a tool. Lots of promises and non kept so far. Go with Samsung galaxy or anything else. Sense is overrated also since I'm already using Launcher pro.

Seems to be more than 15fps on my phone, no laggyness when recording thanks to the Snapdragon CPU

never buy a samsung phone.
Touchwiz is ****.
and its made my samsung.

touchwiz may be ****, but you will install Launcher pro on it and it is as smooth if not smoother then Sense and more useful also. Sense has only 3 stupid buttons on the home screen and the right one is completely useless btw.
Not sure what the exact recording fps really is but its in noway a smooth experience. I would guess max 20 fps. Probably less.

what about my other qustians?
should i wait to iPhone 4 or the HTC Desire is better ?

This is really your choice. I never had an Iphone so cant really compare the 2. But I'm almost sure that I will buy an Iphone next time and I'm pretty damn sure that I will never buy another HTC phone again. I may buy an Android again just not from HTC, probably something from samsung.
This part of the forum really isnt much of neutral so asking what to buy here is as good as asking HTC itself if you should buy there phone or from someone else. Same goes for the Iphone forum of course.

Don't listen to this iSheep. And don't buy and iMoneyTaker. Desire is waaay better then iPhone 4, and it's totally incomparable with iPhone 3GS. HTC does good smartphones.
If I'd be you I'd wait for galaxy s coming to your country. Or if you don't want to wait get a desire. Or if you want something for games and don't want to wait get a motorola milestone

Your saying sense is **** and go for a samsung but then admit that their UI is **** and you had to install something else to make it any good? Another thing that is **** is what your takling!

If you're really into taking pics/filming with your phone, iPhone 4 is your best bet.
Here's an interesting comparison of iPhone 4/Droid X/EVO 4G/Samsung Galaxy on PCWorld.

Wow Balos your really bitter about some thing, you must have a very different set of demands than me because I'm very happy with the phone, the UI and the OS.
Btw real films only run at about 24fps I think... so chill out

Because sense is the only reason why I got the Desire because it was told that this runs smooth as silk. Well it does, no question about it but the right and third button is completely useless. Adding widgets on the screen? Oh really? Are we doing that like 100 times a day? This button could be much more useful if you could set it to anything else. But compared to Launcher pro which can be downloaded from the Market its totally **** and not even half as useful then LauncherPro. So it doesn't matter which phone to get as you will want Launcher pro on it anyway. The only difference is that my ROM is crapped over with this HTC sense stuff now. Useless garbage on the phone. I could get a clean rom yeah. But I dont feel like rooting just now.
The other thing is. Samsung VS Desire which runs on almost the same spaces.
Yet it can record 720p with 30 fps and it can play Divx out of the box what was only promissed by HTC and never delivered. Why? It has the spaces to support it. But no they will release another phone that will do just that or have they already with EVO? Ah crap. Desire the flag ship is actually a sunk ship.

To be honest? I would go for an iPhone 4 if I didnt have the Desire. But thats just me. For the record: i am a person that is no longer 'on one side'. I just look for the best phone out there.
Now regarding games. If games are important to you, go iPhone 4. Biggest support regarding games, best titles. With the sharp display, A4 chip and Gyroscope (or how the hell you spell it) you will get the best gaming experience. NO DISCUSSION.
Ok. If a good camera is important to you, go iPhone 4. It has one of the best cameras out there. HD recording, very smooth 30fps, very good audio, iMovie to edit your clips etc.
If notifications, multitasking are important to you: HTC Desire. The Desire also has a slightly larger screen, though the resolution is beter on the iPhone 4. Both devices show good colors.
Battery life should be much better on the iPhone 4 as well.
So yeah, my non fanboy advise is this. Look if the iPhone has everything you need. If it does, just buy it. It's a very good device and will be supported for a long time, because it has top notch hardware.
And if you choose the HTC Desire, its a good choice as well. I am very happy with the device.

Good advice there Mark ^

LMAO so your problem with sense is a button you don't like to use... I don't have these three buttons that are making your life a misery, my phone is unbranded is that the difference? are they in the middle of the screen at the bottom? I have seen peoples screenies with three screen buttons there, i don't have them

Desire records at 26fps maximum in bright light. reduced to 15fps in dull or low light.

We do see the wildfire 2 will mostly hawe a slightly more powerful CPU a GPU and a better screen resoliution. So waht do you whink if HTC will roll out the Wildfire 2 will you consider buying it over your Wildfire?
If you selected the option Other please state why?
Overtime the spec will getting better, many phone in the market with the same price has better spec than Wildfire now, but I think after my phone I'll choose a higher-end phone :_
I'm keeping my wildfire for a while, when I do buy a new phone I'm getting a top-of-the-line one
hopefully a nexus or something
I think many user choose the way: buy one mid-end to get into Android and then pick a higher-end, like me .
Waiting for some 2-core processor this year or maybe next
While I won't be upgrading so soon, as I stated in another thread, the wildfire 2 is everything the wildfire 1 should have been in the first place...

I'm missing something here. My first smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy S. Just after, I became curious about the HTC Desire but couldn't bring myself to get one given I'd just bought the Galaxy S. Then the Nexus S came out and I had to have one of those, so I got it. Gingerbread is nice but I was still curious about HTC Sense. So I decided to buy a cheap Wildfire on eBay. After a while I realised HTC Sense was rubbish and was about to go back to the Nexus S (both it and the Galaxy S are still in my top drawer) when I stumbled on CyanogenMod. I've flashed a number of different ROMs since then and I can't put my Wildfire down.
I know I've got two high-end smartphones but I love my Wildfire so much that I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please, someone tell me why I should be using the Galaxy or the Nexus as I'm worried I'm actually missing out on something.

Indeed I chose the wildfire to see what android was about and it hasn't disappointed, even makes me think why I stuck with Nokia for so long.
As for wildfire 2 I think I'll be skipping it too and go for a higher spec cos the specs are still not impressive to turn experienced users head.
One with front facing camera, something missing on most android phones but present even in cheap Nokia models, would be nice.

I am very pleased with my Wildfire. It delivered more then I expected as instapper Android phone. The next purchase will be a higher end phone with at lest 2gpu/cpu. But for now I am more than happy with my current phone.
I am thinking of getting a HTC desire.
Wildfire 2 is exactly what 1 should have been, a smartphone without GPU was probably the biggest weakness to me. Nevertheless, it is still an excellent phone for those with a budget and want to try out Android.

Have you tried flashing ROM's and experimenting with your other phones? For me, another reason why I prefer the Wildfire is because of its friendly size and handling capabilities, and, comparatively easy pocketability, which is certainly missing from the higher end devices with their 4"+ screens.
Also, I would think that the UI and all is smoother on the top end phones, and, their app and game support is way more enhanced than on the Wildifre. Cant really comment on the smoothness part because havent used one of them ever.
Off Topic, Another thing I fail to understand is why companies think that whoever wants a powerhouse of a phone must grab a huge one with as graceful dimensions as a brick. I would love to see one day 1 GHz Processors, Adreno 205's, 768 MB RAM's etc on a 3.2 - 3.5" screened device. Handling such huge phones is a pain, especially in crowded areas...

Read my mind. Even right now, I wanted to upgrade to a Defy instead of a Desire. Since the Defy is roughly the size of our Wildfire, but the turn off there is that I got spoiled with WF ROMS, Defy has a few, and the Desire a ton.I want the option to use my phone and reach every inch of the screen with one hand. For this I'd still consider the WF 2 if nothing else competes at it's size
Like most people I got the Wildfire as a cheap Android phone to see what it was like after using Nokia for ages. There will probably be a lot of cheaper phones on the market soon after the success of the Wildfire and the San Francisco, even Apple are considering an iPhone of reduced size to compete with the android success

Have a look at that.

As to smoothness, I can say that CM7 on my Wildfire is slightly choppier than the factory Gingerbread on my Nexis S but not enough to be annoying and I haven't noticed any difference in app start up times.
Wildpuzzle is a different matter. There has been no noticeable difference between Wildpuzzle on my Wildfire and Froyo on my Galaxy S. It really has been that good that I'm toying with the idea of going back to it as CM7 doesn't seem to want to agree with me. I just wish I could get hold of a QVGA version of Swype!
On all devices video playback is no different and I don't play games so I can't comment.
I agree with you about good things in small packages. I've also heard Samsung are coming out next month with a smaller version of the Galaxy S but I haven't seen any specs.

It`s nice to see that I`m not the only one that thinks a 4.0 inch screen is too big.
This is one of the reasons I bought the Wildfire, it was the smallest at that time, and still is. Well, now there are phones like the Samsung i5500, but damn, 2 mp camera is so 2004.
I my self wanted the wildfire as my first Android device(like most of you ). But now when MWc 2011 has started im waiting for price drop's of the older phones like the original Desire or something else Thinking is it a good idea to go for a Milestone 2? Looked at their forums and i saw just a few ROM's.
If root is so hard on my wildfire I probably not going to buy another HTC at all.
I'm just anoyed about companies trying to tell me what I can do with their device.
Cause this is how it is now, not mine but theirs.

It is the same with all companies, atleast with what I have seen,
Sony - Controls everything you do on the PS3. Mod it, and you lose ability to even go online, and if you do, they have the ability to automatically install stuff you dont authorize.
Apple - Not really required to specify it, do we?
Nokia - Only the initial Symbian sets were truly open, where you could mod the heck out of it. Unfortunately, it was not so customizable as Android. With the later ones, it had to be "hacked" (As in rooted), to allow modifications, which depended on the firmware.
Can't comment on others simply because I don't own them.
Lastly, the Wildfire is too "unimportant" a device for major teams to work on, when compared to, say, Apple's iDevices. Hence, finding exploits for iDevices may take a week, and the same may take months for the Wildfire. Unfortunately, thats the way the hierarchy exists.
i'd like to have the new screen on my actual wildfire..
i don't want to change it..
the next purchase will be a more powerful

Xperia Play 2???

Treat this firmly with a pinch of salt, but Concept-Phones have a render of the Xperia PLAY 2 that they have been told is indeed real. It was sent over by Jsus, who has created a number of different Xperia concept renders in the past. Our sources have not mentioned anything about a new iteration of the Xperia PLAY, but that’s not to say it’s not in development. Concept-Phones says the handset will come with a 4.3-inch (720 x 1280) display , 1.5GHz dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor and 8.1MP camera with LED flash.
There are a few things about the phone that do not look right to us (if indeed it is real). For example, the transparent strip, seen as part of the Iconic Identity of the new Xperia handsets, would probably be covered by the joypad when closed. Therefore it would serve no purpose in terms of notifications. Also there are four capacitive buttons at the bottom of the handset that would probably not be needed under Android 4.0 ICS. Anyway, have a look at the larger image below and tell us what you think. We say it’s strictly a concept, but you can never say never.

thats what xperia play 1 should have been lol any ideas if the new one will have the things the old play neglected like video out bravia etc only problem is the touchpads id say if they were made like that theyed be even harder to play with Vita nubs would be the SH**
I hope this doesn't come out...Beyond the camera and the processor, there is nothing new to the phone. They need to add physical joysticks to the device, whether it be Vita-esque nubs, or slide around pads like the 3DS and PSP. I HATE using the touch pads, and I think a lot of people would agree with that. And I know tons of folks want those L2 and R2 buttons. I would hardly see a point to this phone without those upgrades. Sure the processor would be a nice upgrade, but I could certainly care less about the camera. This is just my personal opinion, but I definitely wouldn't buy this as it's hardly a big advancement from the original.
I truly do hope they aren't stupid enough to change the resolution and screw up it's hundreds of working games.
What they need to do for Xperia PLAY 2 is keep as much of the original intact as they possibly can, while making enough changes to the core technology so that it's future proofed. That way they wouldn't have undone all the current accomplishments. Honestly the only things *wrong* with the Xperia PLAY are that it has only 400MB of memory, a processor+gpu that are clocked below current standards, and that we could sacrifice a thinner profile for physical analogs..

Whether its fake or not I think its looks sweet. I would love to have a higher resoltuion but I agree with TLtheory that for compatibility of older Xplay games it would be best focus in core upgrades.
Maybe they can creat a patch file for select games to upscale to fit the 720 screen or maybe just create a way for the device to just auto upscale, granted it would take a hit on the processor..... just some ideas for the grain of salt
Hope this is fake... Just bought my xperia play a week ago.
Too much focus on Android in the info and not enough Playstation. Does it have L2 and R2 buttons? A better D-pad? Better Touchpads?
Fugly doesn't start to describe it, it has nothing of the Human Curvature design which is really cool and it has much of I-wanna-be-an-SGS2... I welcome the specs bumps however, though they won't bring a spanking super high end smartphone it will certainly be a bit more current than the Play's when it came out. I'd like a higher dpi which can match the Neo's. Games are supposed to look crisp.

This design looks bland in comparison with masterpieces like the Arc or the Nokia Communicator (another cool rectangular slider, btw). I mention the SGS2 because the screen size is the same. I could say an HTC phone like the other fellow said. They look all the same, these days. As long as people keep obsessed with phones as thick as a coin we will keep seeing slab after slab. I hope someone in the Android realm will break away from that craze and bring us something with a nice design irrespective of whether you can tell it apart from a piece of paper while looking sideways.

Yet another thing that was promised last year but never happened.
It looks so horrible i'm not quite sure how to convey it in words. I REALLY hope its fake...
Seriously though, the important part is the analog sticks, we need analog sticks, a volume rocker better designed to do double duty as R2/L2, and an up to date high powered soc/ram etc, that's all I could really ask for.
If my phone has to be 1.6mm thicker to accommodate real analog sticks, I DON'T CARE TAKE MY MONEY.

[Q] Porting Galaxy S3 software to One X

is it possible to port software on the Samsung Galaxy S3 to HTC One X? phones are almost identical, both have advantages and disadvantages, technically i love my One X, i wouldn't change it, but the software on Galaxy S3 blows me away (not the interface) but rather the apps, such as the Siri-like app "S voice".
I would consider it to be a hardware downgrade, minor but yeah, it also doesn't look as good as HTC One X, the back looks like a cheap phone, only thing it has that i want is the software! AND 50 GB DROPBOX!

There are like 5 apps in the market which are "like" Siri and Samsung didn't build anything new here, that it will work totally different from those apps or especially run better than them.

Those 5 apps are completely and utterly ****.
S-Voice has siri features, the apps on the market rarely work properly, and most of them don't answer back with a human voice but a robot voice.
S voice will likley be ported to most handsets

is it possible to port software on the Samsung Galaxy S3 to HTC One X? phones are almost identical, both have advantages and disadvantages, technically i love my One X, i wouldn't change it, but the software on Galaxy S3 blows me away (not the interface) but rather the apps, such as the Siri-like app "S voice".
I would consider it to be a hardware downgrade, minor but yeah, it also doesn't look as good as HTC One X, the back looks like a cheap phone, only thing it has that i want is the software! AND 50 GB DROPBOX!

OR you could just go out and buy the GSIII? I don't mean to sound completely 'out-there' but if you want a phone with 'those' features, why don't you buy the phone that features it? Also, it's not a downgrade in hardware, it's a fact that the GSIII will probably blow the One X away. Difference is the One X is truly beautiful and took over one hour and a single sketch-up to become the final product.
Look at the GSIII, seriously, even the GSI looks better than that thing. Yet another overpriced piece of lego from Samsung, the thing probably blows everything out of the water, but it's just sop damn ugly dayummmm

the only thing that could "blow it away" is that CPU being as is not a tegra 3 but then loses all the beautiful graphical world of games developed for the t3.
Realistically I'd much prefer an AOSP ICS ROM for the One X

Live Wallpaper Is Working Fine

Hi all. I've finally got time to write you people the reason why LWP stop when we touch the screen on HTC ONE X.
People say it's faulty but actually it is made to work like this. Years ago when iphone worked faster and better than other devices it was a real concern that even with low specs sheet why iphone performs faster than any other device in the market. This was an unsolved issue until it was studied and showed and proved that > Whenever you perform a task on your iphone it stops all other background and on screen processes to give you the best performance. When the task is done the processes continue as they were working before.
To enhance the speed and working on HOX the same idea is adopted by HTC and so the LWP stops to give you the best mobile experience.
Looks annoying when LWP stops but it is how it's made to work.
Thanks!

Maybe that is the reason, maybe not - but we hope HTC will 'fix it'.
I for one, refuse to use live wallpapers whilst it acts like this, which is a little disappointing as its an Android feature thats kinda been taken away from me.
I know I can change launchers to fix this, but I don't want that - I actually like sense and the look and feel of its launcher.

So you are saying a quad core 1.5GHz processor cannot handle a LWP while scrolling between home screens ?? Even a single core 1GHz phone from 2 years back can scroll between home screens while animating the wall paper.
And do you think "freezing" the LWP while scrolling gives the best mobile experience ?? I dont think so. LWP smoothness is also a big part of the perceived overall user experience.

This is not how I expected the LWP to be but this is how it is MADE TO WORK intentionally.
I didn't say the phone lags or works slow so they forced it to freeze while performing a task but it's because HTC wanted to provide the smoothness and speed. They cut down sense 4.0 a lot and made this change as well following Apple.
A Quad Core can definitely handle stuff but they provided the users the best mobile experience by disabling the processes when you're doing something. THIS IS INTENTIONALLY PROGRAMMED BY HTC.
I either don't like it because "LIVE" wallpaper isn't of this kind but this is how it is in sense 4.0

i would disagree about being "intended by HTC" while my other single core, dual core HTC can manage LWP without a lag.. how about HTC one S?? no LWP bug there.. how could you explain that it was intended by HTC to do this to their flagship phone.. i absolutely disagree..
maybe driver bug from Nvidia.
Serious dude think before you post ... Do you really think HTC intended to work that way ...

How do you know, and what proof you have?
What is the reason for them to freeze the LWP process especially on a multi-core CPU? It doesn't make any sense at all.
So this is what happens when you try to get involved in a community like this. How disappointing.

My Desire handled LWPs really well. My bro's Sensation too. But sense 3.0 and 3.5 were so much bloated and heavier. HTC cut it down and made their quad core work better. (I'm not saying it's good because I personally hate it but this is how it's working.)
How do you think HTC never acknowledged or solved this when they've already pushed out 3 OTAs. There was noise about LWPs and Multi tasking and HTC came up with an answer of multitasking that it WORKS that way on HTC One X.
It looks bad but doesn't mean it's a bug. A little bit of study on how iphone works would make you understand. Comparing it to the HOX's working will explain everything.
I hope HTC solves this "bug" which isn't really a bug.
PS. Using a 3rd party launcher make LWPs work fine. Means this isn't an NVIDIA related issue. But Sense 4.0 operates in this fashion.

Firstly, there is a thread like this on the forum already. I can't recall where exactly but it links to an ATnT One X working fine with sense and LWP. So this is an issue of compatibility between sense and nvidia maybe?

Also, OP... you should accept it when you can be wrong and make it easier on yourself.

When i spoke to HTC they said they recognize the problem with LWP and will try to fix with future updates,
Why would they say this ?
Like it or not, it is deliberate, I said that weeks ago. HTC might choose to change it, they might not. Personaly I don't care, LWP is a battery drain that I see for a few seconds a day and I have never used it for that reason.
OP has got somewhat harsh comments mainly because how he has decided to word his opinion. starting the post with a statement like

in all caps, are bound to make few users (including myself) annoyed. Especially when OP is not a recognized developer nor someone who has shown to have any experience working with (as in programming or modding) Sense or any launchers for that matter.
Freezing of LWP while scrolling could be how HTC intended it, or it could very well be an unexpected side effect of a performance tweak. I'm more inclined to believe the latter, but in any case if OP started the thread as a discussion presenting his opinion and supporting arguments as his own instead of stating everything as facts I'm sure he would have gotten a much different reaction....
use Apex launcher, aaaand it's gone.
(meaning that live wallpapers DO work correctly on Apex launcher and probably others too).

Who's getting one?

Hey all
HTC has bucked the trend here, as before the "Desire" range has been considered a mid-range series, not so with the HTC Desire Eye, here we have a fully featured high-end device. With a powerful quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor running at 2.3 GHz backed up with 2GB of RAM and the usual HTC check boxes such as Boom sound, the Desire eye certainly looks like an interesting device. The one stand out feature is a exceptionally large pixel front camera, at 13MP (same as the rear camera) high resolution selfies are certainly on the cards.
So who will take the plastic over the metal of the M8, and why would members choose this device?

I'm planning on finally replacing my 4 year old iPhone 4 and getting a new phone next month, and depending on the price of this thing I might get this one
.
IMHO it looks like a better phone than the M8. I for actually like the design a lot more than the M8's (which I actually didn't really like the design of all that much), and this blue one you have pictured here looks especially nice. And I don't really care about metal vs plastic, I'm not actually sure what the big deal is, but that's just my opinion. And in addition the flap-less high water-resistance is really awesome indeed. The camera is also apparently better, though I think the 13MP "selfie" cam is overkill.
The thing I really don't like about this phone however about this phone is it's physical size. It is way bigger than a 5-inch phone has any right to be. In fact, it is almost as big as the Galaxy Note 3/4 as shown in this comparison here. That was one of my main gripes with the M8 as well - the reason for that size is the excellent BoomSound speakers, but IMHO no speaker-quality is worth that much increase in bezels and size (especially since I really don't care all that much about speakers since I usually just rather use headphones). The Desire Eye is even bigger than the M8 (though both are 5' displays) because of that ludicrous 13MP "selfie" camera which is just piontless.
So will I get it? Well that really depends on the price. Currently I am planning on getting the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact for $520 next month. I'd really rather not get a 5-inch device that's the size of a Galaxy Note, but if the price is really attractive (this supposedly being a "budget" series phone) than I might still get it.

In The Netherlands retailers priced it at 499 EUR
And, I'm getting this device no matter what, I've already pre-ordered it on a 2-year contract.
Will wait to see how the camera performs. If it's great, I might get it. If it's mediocre, I'll just wait for the M9.
Im thinking about it, but i still want to see some reviews and reviews about the camera. I also need to see what the price is going to be in my carrier and what price i can get it.
By the way, does anyone know a especial reason why it doesnt have 4k video? It's not very important, but htc could have used the hardware to introduce the 4k which is something a lot of the other flagships have and the hardware seems capable of it

Don't worry, someone will probably port 4k video to this phone, as it should be capable of doing so.
little update on release date: My carrier (dutch) expects the phone to be available within 2 weeks.
I thought that also. Hopefully some devolopers will get this phone and work on it, it seems to be a good phone. However, since there isn't any htc phone with 4k in the market (that i know of), won't that make it more difficult? I don't know much about software but i always thought some of those added feature were ported from software. Or maybe its just "unlock"/add a new resolution to the video software.

From what I've heard, it's depending on the CPU and it's capabilities. The reason for the HTC One m7 and m8 not getting 4k was that, if you want to shoot in 4k resolution, you need a camera with over 8mp.
Luckily, our HTC Desire Eye gets a 13 MP camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 which, according to their spec list, supports 4k playback and recording, the thing that needs to be done is modify the camera apk and add the missing libraries.
The same was done on the Xperia Z1, here is the discussion with some usefull things;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2768422
And the actual dev thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53165575
Thank you for the links! I remember reading about that and i was hopeful that someone would do the same for this phone. However, i think its a port from the z2 software because the z2 does 4k from stock (although i think they all do know from stock via update, not sure) and htc never had 4k in any of their phones.
But when the phone is released we will probably know more about this.

Look, their old devices never had the capability of supporting it, because either their camera's were lacking 8mp or their processors couldn't handle it.
Example;
HTC Desire 816 13MP camera, https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/400
HTC Desire 616 8MP camera, some cheapass octa-core by Mediatek.

Actually the Desire Eye has a 5.2" screen which explains the larger exterior dimensions.
Good to know! Thanks!
I just noticed on gsmarena and with a google search that there is no mention of 120fps slow motion recording. I assumes it did slow motion from stock but it only mentions 30fps full HD. One thing i liked on the m8 camera was that slow motion could be edited to pick what parts to slow down and it seems to be missing on this phone.
Anyone knows or read anything about slow motion recording? Again, it has the hardware for it but htc seems to be cutting down the software :/

Since the "Eye Experience" is also present on the One M8 and M7 now, it will probably be the same for our phone, anyways if not present, we can probably port it easily.
Looks like a mighty interesting phone. I always though the desire series was the more attractive side of HTC. I might have to ditch my iPhone 6 for this. Pangu is a joke!
I've been eyeing (ha!) this and the Note 4, the deciding factor will be if the Desire is easily rootable. The Note is not. What are your thoughts on rooting the Desire?
I have a Desire Eye from HTC, I can say the front camera is very nice and the brand new Eye Experience functions looks cool too.

I'm probably going to pick one up tomorrow...Almost grabbed a HTC One M8 Google Play Edition today, but decided to hold off and try one of these out, I know AT&T is going to brand the crap out of the phone, that is the only bad thing...I'm a big HTC fan boy, but the camera on the One M8 caused me to drift to try other devices over the last few months...I talked about 8 of my friends into buying the phone and they all love it...
