[Q] Need Help, I think I bricked it :( - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hello everyone,
I hope i posted in the right place...
For starters, Everyone on here has saved my phone more times than I can count. Which i thank you all for. I always search around for the ansewer before I post a question. But this one has got me good. I tried to use the unlocker, VZW TPSSPL, and somewhere along the line, I screwed up. Where I am at now, is when i install the battery to my phone, (touch pro 2 verizon) and try to power it up, i get nothing. The screen just stays black. I cant perform the hard reset, and get no response from the phone itself. BUT if I plug it in Via USB to the computer, it promts me for a driver install, qualcomm cdma MSM driver, which wont install, and i cant seem to find what i need to do. I have already started the process to get a new phone, but if theres still hope to retrieve it, i would be very happy. if not, its my fault and i will take my medicine. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Moved as not ROM Development.

Try entering the bootloader by holding down the Volume Down & Power key while your phone is turned off. You should see a 3-color screen with some info displayed.
If this works, connect your phone with a usb cable and you should be able to flash it

It sounds like you installed a CDMA ROM. If you only installed a CDMA ROM, not a CDMA boot loader, then you can recover by flashing back to a GSM ROM. I would use a releasted ROM for your device - look on the ROM development forum.
EDIT: Try and go into bootloader mode: hold the DOWN volume key while pushing the RESET button. If you get the tri-color screen, you should be OK to load a different ROM.

I am getting nothing from it. I cat get into the bootloader screen. The only thing thats hapening is, when i plug it in to my computer, it tries to install a "qualcomm technologies CDMA MSM" "driver", but it cant instal it. I have serched for it too, with no luck. I do have insuracnce, so I'll just pay the deductable, i dont have the money for it, but then again, who does? lol Sorry i havent responded sooner, but without my phone, i have to use a LG ENV TOUCH, The phone works great, but it cant do anything. I miss my TP2. Thanks for all the help.

Are you using the correct combination for the bootloader?
Power Button + Volume Down + Reset Button. means, do a soft reset while holding the "volume down" key and power key on the side of the device. hold these keys until you see a special tricolour screen which is the bootloader mode.
Put a rom on your sd card, enter bootloader and flash.

Yeah, that is the problem. I believe he installed the CDMA on a GSM device. I've heard you can get past that, but not if you install the CDMA bootloader. I don't know, maybe the loader is installed with they burn a CDMA ROM.

I know. But he might have flashed a CDMA bootloader onto a GSM phone. Which is why I asked.

Quite possible. I just flashed a 6.5 ROM onto my phone, and I know darn well it replaced the SPL. If indeed there was a CDMA bootloader placed onto a GSM phone, I believe it takes a JTAG to recover from that

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. And I have tried all sorts of diferent ways trying to get it in the bootloader screen, and even waited 30secs while holding down the buttons. As far as the CDMA vs GSM, I did alot reading, mainley for re-assuring myself, and I have come up with CDMA, I even ran the phone with the sim card out when running android, which I was able to run using the CDMA setup. There was even a proccessor break down somewhere, to help determine weather it was CDMA, which I used in conjunction with everything else. What I think may have happend: Either I didnt read something right, and tried using a GSM unlocker, instead of a CDMA unlocker, which I really DONT think so, but its possible. The other thing is, mabey I used the proper unlocker, and when the screen went black on my phone, I may not have waited long enough for everything to happen, and I may have unplugged the USB to soon, causing the unlocking proccess to not finish. I waited for what seemed to be a long time, but I may not have waited long enough. The 3rd possiblity, is that my battery died in my phone, and trying to get it into the bootloader isnt going to happen. I dont think that is the case, only because, A: My battery had a full charge when I started. and B: my Ma Dukes has a TP2 and i used her battery as well, with no luck. Thanks again for the replies everyone, I'm glad you guys are here to help.

I think I bricked my phone.... Please help!

I have been waiting nearly two months for HTC to get on the ball and release the official version of Windows Mobile 6.5 so I could download it and see if it's worth using as my main phone OS. But they have been lazy and have yet to come out with it. So, I got impatient and began looking into the roms that were already available and how to flash my phone to get them to work. The first step I read that I needed to do was unlock my phone. However, I forgot what the text said at the top of the page (here's the link to the program I used, if that's helpful): http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062. So I proceeded to use the Diamond Unlocker (as that should have been a huge tip-off to me then, but this was my first ever unlocking experience, so I had no idea what I was doing) Now, my HTC Touch Pro 2 from Verizon won't even turn on. It won't go into a bootloader screen, absolutely nothing happens when I press power button, the reset button, or a combination of any of the buttons on the device.
However, when I plug the phone into my computer, a device does pop up: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. I can't get anything more than that, though. No software drivers will install, it does try very hard to find some though.
Any help, advice, tips, tricks, random guesses, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help.
Welcome aboard
try to reflash another ROM
have a deep read here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Good luck,
Buttons don't respond.
I can't get my phone to turn on or even go into bootloader mode. So, without that, I don't understand how I can flash a new ROM onto my phone.
And hello to you as well.
I did read that link, but none of the button codes worked, and my phone isn't responding to the Hard-SPL that I started when my phone was connected. It says that it cannot find the device and I need to resync it. But I start Windows Mobile Device Center and it can't find my phone either.
However, an interesting new development is that my phone, every now and again, starts charging when connected to my computer. The light turns orange, and my computer picks it up. But it does this for a bit, and then it changes back to nothing.
If you can't access the bootloader using any of the methods detailed here, then I hate to say it, but your device is probably bricked. It's really difficult if at all possible to recover when the SPL (AKA bootloader) is severely damaged or completely destroyed. There were some tools a while back to help recover from nuked SPLs, but AFAIK they aren't compatible with the TP2, and you have to be security unlocked, which I can pretty much guarantee you aren't.
Your best bet would be to take it back to the store and play dumb, saying that it "just stopped working" in the hopes that they'll give you a new one, but there are no guarantees it'll work. Best of luck
That's what I need to know
Thanks for the information. I just needed to know what to do. I can't access the bootloader or anything even similar to it, so I am just going to get it replaced and then be much more careful in the future.

[Q] phone wont connect to seus or pc companion

my verizon xperia is not recognized by either pc companion or seus. I am trying to do a hard reset due to the fact the lockscreen doesnt work. I have read that I can press and hold the back and search keys on front while powering on to factory reset the phone, however that does not seem to be the case. Can anyone give me some suggestions if the two button factory reset does work and that maybe I am just doing it wrong. And any suggestions as to how to get my phone to connect with seus so I can reset if teh 2 button trick is indeed not an option. Thank you to all in advance.
Doesnt anyone have an idea? I follow seus instructions. Power off wait 30 seconds, then plug in the usb cord to the pc, then press and hold the back button then inserting the usb cable into the phone... and then I wait for it to connect which it doesnt.
have you tried removing the battery wait a bit and put it back and then try again. I had something similar happen when I first got mine.
yes.... I waited beyond the 30 seconds it suggests. I eve waited about 2 hours once. Still nothing......I really want to get this device working.....it does power up. Everything seems like its supposed to work but it isn't. Thank you for helping me... I really really appreciate it.
hey, if youre comfortable, we can unlock the bootloader on it. if we do that, then you can just use fastboot and the files you can get off of my State of Development thread to return you back to stock. You could also root it. If that interests you, send me a pm with your ESN and Ill get you an unlock code.
Or do you still wanna try to figure out the **** fest that is SEUS?
I would love to unlock the bootloader. I have always had motorola android phones so even though i have never unlocked the bootloader I would love to.
Where would I find the ESN #? I am not able to get past the lock screen....so all I can do it make emergency calls
I have PM'd you my phones info. Thank you for your assistance
What is preventing you from passing the lock screen exactly? Programming?
the phone says that the pattern lock attempts has been exceeded... and the only way to unlock is to enter either a gmail info or answer the question. Neither of which I know.
Ahh! phew i thought it was more serious than that. Were you able to have the phone activated on your Verizon account okay? The esn wasnt blacklisted or anything?
And the funny thing is, even if you HAD got seus working, it would not have fixed that problem. SUES doesnt wipe the device as far as I know.
the *#06# in the emergency dialer doesnt show anything?
also the MEID is under the battery.
I have not activated the phone as I cant really use it in its current state. I did check with Verizon and the phone can be activated no problems.
I do have the MEID #, is it safe to list it here?
Also, the phone does not take the #* code, says its not an emergency number
K, i have successfully unlocked my bootloader on my phone..... I am trying to make sense of what to do next
YAY!!!!!. I unplugged and rebooted the phone after unlocking the bootloader and now my phone is back... I can sign into google now
you should use this command and reflash the stock system
fastboot flash system system.sin -w
this will erase usersettings and reinstall the stock rom.
make sure you have the rom downloaded.
edit- Never mind.

Thats great! totally forgot that actually unlocking the bootloader performs a factory reset. So awesome! Go get you some root!
now that I have it restored, the screens touch sensitivity is all over, it keeps thinking I am trying to load up voice commands. I would like to flash a rooted ROM, and from what I have read on kernals for the r800x theres nothing worth flashing just yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to flash a rooted stock rom?
Also, I am still not able to enter Flash mode with the whole back button while inserting usb cable. the light is still blue.... any suggestions?
You shouls be holding the search key.
sent from the original unlocked R800X.
i will try the search button instead. Also I flashed a kernal and now the phone is super slow. How do I flash the stock ROM and stock kernal. I am doing some reading but I am still lost. seems like I get routed to xperia arc pages...... can anyone give me some guidance. sorry to be a pain, but I am excited to learn

Hey, everything you need to know is in the many pages (and the initial post which is constantly updated) on my State of Development thread. Read through there and you will see that everyone else is also having problems with the kernels and roms making the phone unresponsively slow. The first post also has links for stock files that you might need.
Basically if you get your phone into fastboot mode (turn off, hold search key, plug in USB line, solid blue light turns on) you can do two commands to get you back to stock, and then follow the rooting instructions that I have on the R800x Rooting thread. Its linked in the state of development thread. Second item, i believe, below the link to Bin4rys.
The two commands would be "fastboot flash system system.sin" and "fastboot flash boot kernel.sin". the first command might not be necessary even, just the kernel one might fix you.

[HELP] Stuck in qualcomm diagnostic mode

So while trying to get wifi working on my CM7 install I tried to install the radio update from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363547
It was successful but when I reboot I get stuck in what people call "Qualcomm Diagnostics Mode." I'm not even sure of that though, when I turn it on it vibrates 3 times, no LED or anything. I've tried the following solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345273
but it doesn't work.
I have my microsd, I tried putting my old ROM on there but that didn't do anything. I don't have access to the internal storage as I can't turn on the phone. ._.
And for me turning the phone on while holding vol - NEVER worked to go into the bootloader, I'd have to reboot from the OS into the bootloader. I have a backup of all my files.
Is there any way I can recover it?
Unfortunetly rooting it voided my warranty, though I'm sure they wouldn't even know about it if I sent it to HTC?
I'm running it on virgin mobile unactivated...
EDIT: I bought the phone from ebay.
Try the 5th post (i think) it should say something about this mess you're in and click thanks if I was able to help

Alright I'll try that but what sucks is I tried something like that but when I hold volume down and power it would never go into the bootloader, I had to do adb reboot bootloader. (but obviously I can't do that when I can't connect to the device, maybe with the mem card?)

Yes I did all of those steps. My friend advised me to just sent it back to HTC.

well, if you gave that a shot... i read somewhere that there is a way to go out of qualcomm diag mode, i can't find it... you just send it back to your service provider, and act dumb... hopefully they will have too much job and won't bother checking too much your phone...

Black screen, no fastboot

I just wanted to try the latest CM9 after locking bootloader for a return. It unlocked, flashed fine, rebooted a few times. I was going to relock it so I used "reboot to bootloader". It was charging, it shut down and never turned back on. Removing the battery didn't help either. When I connect it to the PC, it recognizes OMAP4400 but doesn't install any drivers. I don't see how it can be bricked as I just rebooted to bootloader. It's been charging for a few hours and I haven't touched it since. I'm going to try the USB Jig soon, any additional help would be greatly appreciated..
If you're unlucky, you've hard-bricked it, somehow...
Try pressing (Just) Volume down + power...
That also gets you into Oding mode...
If that don't work, then sorry... I wouldn't know any other solution. Try the jig, if you want, but it's not put, that it'll work.
Well, best of uck!!
Hope you fix it!
LG familyguy59
Jig doesn't work, volume down+power doesn't, fastboot doesn't. Anything I do to it, it still shows as OMAP4440 in device manager. Even without the battery in. It must be in some kind of special recovery mode, but how the hell does it work with no battery. I'll leave it without battery over night, it's charged for sure so that can't be the problem.
The phone will work plugged in without the battery in under normal conditions, and that it's showing up at all is a good sign.
Have you used fastboot before successfully? You may need to load drivers manually. This thread links a few different options you can try:

My guess is that if it is showing as OMAP, it is a sign that bootloader is not working at all, I've seen some topics of panda boards (that use the same processor) with the same symptons when bootloader was lost...
Yes I did use fast boot successfully before. I just don't see how it could corrupt the bootloader by simply restarting in it.. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

Well, I have this thought: You last used fastboot (With success), you maybe flashed a ROM, opr something.
You then restartet the phone, whilst it was still updating some internal files.
Maybe, if you did do that (willingly or not), you buggered the bootloader, like that...

It was not syncing or downloading anything, I've been using CM9 for about an hour before choosing reboot to bootloader. The only thing the phone was doing was charging.. I just don't understand how a simple command to reboot in bootloader can screw it up, it just doesn't make sense to me. It seems it's in a loop, Device Manager shows OMAP4440 refreshing about every second. It eventually disappears but if I plug it back in it does it again. I'm guessing the bootloader is gone

Well, it may be gone, but OMAP normally means, that there is no firmware present...
This happened to me, whilst flashing a new firmware, onto the Wave, of my Dad...
I'll have a look, inside my Devman, and see, what I can find ^^

[q] htc g2 not rooted semi bricked boot looping please help

Long story short my friend gave me a T mobile HTC G2 because it didn't turn on. I opened the phone to find the part where the battery connects to the phone came off the mother board so i solder it back on put the phone back together and turned it on. It booted up normal and came to the lock screen nothing worked the touch wasn't responding so i push power button to turn screen off and then again to turn it back on and the screen worked. I tried guessing his pattern five time and it didnt work it asked me to sign in to my Google account when the screen came up the phone rebooted and it kept doing it every time i turned it on. So i looked on xda how to restore it tried it and im not sure if it restored or not but it strated boot looping. I tried the flashing the pc10img.zip from the root of the sd card it usually says something like version to new or to old or something it didn't work. My phone is not rooted and i don't think usb debugging is on. Any info you guys want just ask. What can i do? How can i fix it? Please help
I'm going to take a guess, that if the battery connection to the motherboard 'broke off', then it's possible you have other physical issues such as the ribbon cable connecting the screen/digitizer to the rest of the phone.
If it were me I would have sent the phone into HTC for hardware warranty (which you can't do now since you soldered it.).
Can you provide some specific information about the phone, can you get into the boot loader, and if so what exact information do you have there? (USB debugging would be easily turned on under system settings, if you can get into it via the screen).

Thanks for replying i don't think anything else is wrong with the phone all the cables were fine. To begin with warranty was already finished. "Yes", i can get into the boot loader/H boot. I can turn on usb debugging because the phone doesn't boot all the way in to android. When you say information what exactly are you looking for?

Mainly the info that shows up on hboot, and which recovery you have (or 'had') so that might be able to advise some additional steps.

when you first had the phone it won't boot right? but when you tried fixing the battery connection thingy (sorry I don't know whats it called )
it booted and ran again?
have you tried doing a factory reset?
Power button+volume rocker down (volume down button) to boot into bootloader mode then do a factory reset maybe that would work ?

Would probably have to stick to the original Stock RUU update since you're S-ON (would need S-OFF for any kind of custom recovery, kernel, unsigned packages, etc), so would have to use a signed full package from T-Mobile, I don't know much bout that because I usually have my phones rooted and away from stock as fast as I can.
What stock rom did you find before? links?

Thats is the above link i used and i used all the ones that start with "PC10" I rename them to PC10IMG.zip so the phone can recognize it and it did. The only problem is that after it tries to install is say something along the lines of version is older or newer since i tried multiple packages. One package was going through the process and after that it didn't do anything, it didnt say failed or reboot or anything like that. Ive been trying to fix this for like a week and a half now. Ive even flashed custom PC10IMG.zip to see if it could help but nothing the furthest ive gotten is the phone boots for like 2 seconds the screen is blurry and the shuts off and there is an orange light in top right that wasn't lighting up before. Here are the links for the custom packages

You would have to much it to your exact carrier/phone, Just flashing whatever you get your hands on can be very very risky.
For example for me being on T-Mobile with a T-Mobile branded G2, I would grab PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971109
(noting the *.15 is the original radio my device was shipped with, though I've upgraded to the newer *.19)
I of course have no intention to returning to complete stock, but it's usually the only course of action for most people stuck with S-ON (and then would look into exploiting/unlocking/rooting again from there).

Though ideally using an actual IRC client will work much nicer than a web chat one.
Same problem, but desire z S-ON
Hey guys.
I have the same problem with the boot loop /semi brick. Expect I never had any problem before, with the phone. I have tried taking out the sd card, starting it agian. I have tried without simcard. I have tried to flash the ROM with RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.42.405.2_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_199043_signed
via Hboot Fastboot USB PLUG mode (which was the only mode the aplication was progressing in until it want to restart the phone in bootloader), but the phone frezzes and the aplication on the computer just keep working, without progress.
The factory reset just frezzes the phone.
The only thing reali seem to not frezze the phone is the revocery option. Here the phone react with restart showing a image of a phone with two green arrows bent around, over the phone. then it turns off the display and vibrate 4-5 times, og stays turn off not reacting to anything other then taking out the battery and you can start the phone once again.
