Verizon Ext. Battery - Droid X Accessories

Hey guys,
Verizon hooked me up with an extended battery and just thought I would let you all know that yes, it comes with another back that is about 1mm thicker, BUT this battery will fit w/the STOCK cover also!!!
Just thought that might make some folks excited.

Were you able to just get it from the verizon store or did u find it online?? Also how much is it? I noticed

It was marked 49.99 or so but they gave it to me free since I settled for a refurb instead of waiting... I figured It still has the warr. as the new if anything happened and having an extra batt. is always nice.
This was through the customer service phone line.

So it definately fits with the stock cover no problem???? Thanks

Anyone know when an external charger will become available? Such a hassle constantly taking out and putting in batteries

do you know if there will be another extended battery that will be larger and require a new cover? the reason i would like to have that is because it would fit nicely under the hump at the top of the phone and make the whole back of the phone appear to be flat. that is kind of what i was hoping for when i found out that verizon was making an extended battery .....

Well, this batt. is made by Moto and is rated 1850 or 1880 Mah. I can't remember, but it fits fine with the stock door.

And you can see difference between this one and the normal??? How long extra the extender give u

There have been reports of screen distortion when attaching the stock cover with this battery. In other words, it's putting a potentially dangerous amount of pressure on the internals of the phone. It sounds like the distortion is only there while putting the cover on. Regardless it sounds rather disconcerting.
Obviously Moto is selling the extended battery with a different cover for a reason. So use the stock one with caution.

Can amyone get a pic of the dx with the extended battery cover installed?

Externals are on EBAY with extra batteries already.

Currently i use a two peice snap on hard plastic case from bestbuy for my droid X.. im wondering if the new back door will stop me from using my case, if its only 1mm thicker?

The snap on cases will work fine with the extended battery door.

Any idea when the extended battery will be available in verizon stores nationwide?

Here is a great overview with photos: http://alldroid.org/Default.aspx?tabid=40&g=posts&m=8010
by the way, enter BAT30 as a promo code and you get 30% off!!

FWIW,
I was using my stock batt. and was going to charge it up before I switched back to the ext. batt.....
I charged the stock full, Powered down, and threw in my ext. batt. that was LOW when I last used it...
when the phone booted up with the ext. batt. it showed it at something like 70%.. WTF?!
So I charged it to FULL, and then took it out and set it in the freezer.... twenty minutes later I threw it back in and it told me it only had 50%!!!!!!!!
So, my point... I believe it might be who of people to try it out and see if they can't squeeze any more time out of their batts....
Good luck, let me know if this helped anyone..

I really am not sure, but my guess is that part of what's going on here is that the battery stats file is "used to" your regular battery and isn't calibrated for your extended battery.
Just a thought.

Mugen 3200mAh battery for TP2 works in EVO

In case you need an extended battery now, I can report success with a Mugen 3200mAh unit that was intended for a Sprint Touch Pro 2. It cost $70 or 80 when I bought it around Christmas time from an eBay vendor (couldn't find it anywhere else online). Turns out the person I got it for had a Touch Pro 1 and this battery was not compatible so it's been sitting around the house ever since. I just popped it into my EVO 4G and it works perfectly as far as I can tell. Boots up normally and is charging as expected. Of course the back plate does not fit over the fat battery so I left that off and replaced the jelly case which stretches over the whole thing well enough.

Hero batteries work also.. a lot of HTC phone's use the same batteries. I have like 4 batteries for my evo lol
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280492889203&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I bought these a while back.. worked great in my hero and work just as good in my evo. Plus now I have a standalone wall-charger. Took about a week or so to get here since its coming from Hong Kong.. But it was well worth the ~$10 for 2 batteries and a charger..
ok, i stole its soul for you.
well im glad i order mine from seidio since it comes with the back case but this is good info so i can pass my oem battery to my wife for hero hero with weak battery life
Lol. Nice evo . It's the humpback of xda.
Sent from my Evo 4G
that is disgusting! but more power to you hahaha...lets hope seidio lets you buy just the ext battery cover
oh sweet mother of god i would feel all grossed out if i tried to handle my phone and it was all squishy at the parts that aren't touching the battery or the frame...
How's the battery life with the 3200? After doing some battery life tweaks and mods mine seems to almost be sufficent with the stocker, but it can always use some improvement.
If you don't mind sacrificing the case, I would try cutting a rectangle in it that would leave the protruding part of the battery exposed and let the case hug the phone the way its supposed to. If you cut it just right, the batt should stay in place since it looks like it has a bit of an edge for the case to grip on to.
I'M starting think I should just cancel my order for the 3500 battery and get me 2 1500. What do you guys think?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm using the battery from my tp2 as a spare, and carry it in the smaller pocket in my jeans,i don't even feel it there sometimes. With battery tweaks and charging it in my car (usually around 30 min at a time), I only have to occasionally change to the 2nd battery. If you are sensitive to bulk, then go for 2 batteries to split the load, otherwise a bigger battery is more convenient.

Given some of the results from BatteryBoss, I'd say that the battery isn't going to perform at a full 3500mAh. It will still be more than an OEM battery, sure, but I couldn't justify doubling the size of the phone to put it in. You might be better off getting another OEM battery, HTC seems to give about 99% of what they say.
if that site batteryboss is accurate then Mugen's batteries are crap. twice the size for 50% more juice. however, some anecdotal evidence to the contrary: after buying the wrong one, i bought another Mugen extended battery that does work for the TP1 and the recipient is very happy with it. reports that the 3200mAh it lasts about twice as long as the OEM battery.
probably smart to just get another HTC 1500mAh. after the latest update battery drain is much less of an issue anyway.
So can I just go in to a sprint store and ask for a hero battery For free?

The batteries + charger that was listed earlier in this thread work GREAT I've been using them for a few days now great freaking deal ($10 shippped)
Anyone know if the Tilt battery here will fit the Evo with a modified case / back plate? http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Extended-Li-Ion-Battery-RHOD170/dp/B002Y24MJ2
I know Seidio makes a modified back plate that looks like it would fit this and according to battery boss this is the gold standard of extended batteries.
Also confirmed, the Mugen 4500mAh battery for Sprint Touch Pro 2 works in the Evo as expected. It's very... thick. About as thick as the Evo with a jelly sleeve on. Put together it's like the Evo has it's own little podium to stand on.
Assuming batteryboss tests are accurate then true capacity is closer to 75% or ~3375mAh. Main purpose for me is a power supply that can run GPS tracking apps like Cardio Trainer all day uninterrupted. Thickness not an issue since the whole package is tucked away in a Camelback.
Got it on eBay, I don't know where else to find them. Mugen is OOS and ridiculously expensive anyway. An alternative would be an external battery pack that supplies power through a USB port, then cable it to Evo.

Any special way to condition a new extended battery?

No that is terrible advice. Charge cycling Li-Ion batteries destroy them, not increase battery life.
@OP: The only thing you need to do is make sure you let the phone charge for 7-8 hours after you put in the battery. After that, no conditioning is required. However, if at a later date you notice your Vibrant is not properly reading the battery (i.e. it goes from 100->90 really quickly, but goes from 90->80 more slowly, etc.), you will need to calibrate the battery to your device by completely draining the battery and charging it. Take note that this charge cycle will not increase battery life -- it will only make your Vibrant read the battery properly.
BTW Would it be possible for you to take picture of how much fatter the battery makes your phone?
Where did you buy this battery from? Looking to get my hands on a good one.

Vibrant BiONYX 3.1/ brama
I got it from ebay and it fits perfect. If you have patience you can order through the seller below. Im in north florida and it took almost 3wks to get to me. Theres also another seller from US but he wants $30 for the exact same battery. He claims that the batteries from china are crap, he is lying. This is the seller he orders them from.

Greatest investment ever. I might be able to take pictures tomorrow. Currently my battery is at 40% and have been running for 1day 3hr 17mins as of this post. And an app im using batteryleft from Eugenes r11 stats time left is 11hrs.
Under battery use through the settings. Displays at 60%, Voice calls at 40%, Cell Stand by is at 20% Phone idle at 5%, and I made a mistake leaving wifi on all day.
Size is really a personal preference. I adds the needed weight to the phone, and makes it extremely easy to hold. The Vibrant with original cover/battery would slip out of my hands when it was naked and the rubberize battery cover solves that.
I use my phone for music in my car and at work through default music app/slacker/pandora and now I can lay my phone on its back and the speaker is not blocked.
Ive had all my friends, coworkers etc look/hold it and they all like the way it feels and that it fits perfectly in your hand. All in all, im someone who is always playing with my phone and now I getting a little more then double the battery life.
My usually day:
20+ 5min phone calls
Playing angry birds throughout the day
20+emails
15-20txt
web surfing/tapatalk/xda app
watch some youtube
listen to music at work/car 3-4hrs
wasnt connected by wifi was on for most of the day
My Main reason for getting the extended battery-3g on ALLDAY
extended battery+r11 great battery life.
pictures, sorry there from my girls iphone4. Bic lighter for size comparison. Most people who consider phones bricks feel like moto razr to me. Not for folks that wear skinny jeans lol. BUt as big as it looks its truly not that bad. I will probably buy an extended battery with every future phone I buy. I was one who always thought ext batteries were ugly but now I am a believer.

Yeah it's a bit bulky
I'm using a 3600 battery replacement in my old x10 with feralab rom and the battery usage is 5 days powering off phone at night.
wow that's big..
Yes, but believe me. It's more easier to hold the phone now with one hand.

No. As you can see in pictures, this battery is more bigger than original battery and needs a bigger cover.
But only for the rear cover. The battery fits correctly in his place.
Can you post measurements of the battery? (ie depth of battery and depth of phone with battery inserted).
The only reason I ask is because I ordered a 3600mAh version from ebay (thought it might be a bit slimer, for all it's worth... ;-) ) and the pictures used show some measurements.
See this url for an example:
**** sorry - can't post external links yet - not enough posts... ****
Search for "Galaxy s3 3600mah" in ebay and you'll find a few posts - the user I bought from is called "hightechhk-com"
(h**p://***.ebay.co.uk/itm/3600mAh-Extended-Battery-White-Door-Cover-for-Samsung-i9300-Galaxy-S3-III-New-/261045894976?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cc78c3f40)
From quick observation they look very similar.
Also, how doea the back cover fit? Doubt it's up to the quality of the original (or is it?)
As soon as mine arrives i'll let you know how they perform.
Cheers
Good stuff. Please do a comparison step by step to the original one, as in exactly the same daily use and turn off at night if you do with both. Its interesting, I wouldn't buy it myself but I always wonder if these batteries are not that well made than original.

Please, be patient. Thank you.
I know that these batteries are made with a lower quality. But i'm sure that these batteries doesn't break your phone (tested in x10). I've heard something about gold batteries, but this battery is not a gold manufactured battery. It's from another manufacturer.

i haven't had a problem with it overheating my phone and battery but it does indeed get fairly warm. no warmer than if browsing the web on lte for 20+ minutes though.
btw. also have a hyperion extended battery with back cover and rubber case. overall i think the extended battery is better for set-it-forget-it use. the power bank you have to charge separately from the phone or you can charge the phone completely with the power bank and then just charge the power bank (how i've been doing it). i need an extended battery option 24/7 so the power bank is basically permanent just like if i had an extended battery. i like the look and feel of it better than my extended battery case (which can be alleviated) and i like having a kick stand again. i have the 3200 mah power bank and it has no troubles completely charging the phone from 0% but my buddy has the 2200 mah power bank and it never is able to charge the phone to 100% from 0% (usually 70-80%). guessing the leds and the heat generated when charging cause some loss due to some inefficiency.

[Q] Standard Nexus battery w/ extended battery case?

Hello. Sorry if this has been asked before, I looked around and searched for a few minutes, but didn't see anything. Only reason I am posting without more searching is because I am literally on Amazon right now about to order this within the next few minutes.
I am 100% sure I am going to get an extended battery and the back cover for it.
Since I am getting it as a warranty replacement for my Strartosphere, I will not be getting a battery or back door from Verizon. My bank account is kind of hit right now, so I was thinking about grabbing 1 extended battery and 1 standard battery.
My question is, can I use the standard battery with the extended battery back door, or will it not keep the standard battery fitted properly, causing it to come loose and power off the phone. I've honestly never ever seen a Nexus in person or I probably wouldn't be asking.
Sorry for newb question. So if you could answer that question for me you can get a 100% free Thanks on your post! :good:

Yes u can use it but extended battery cover won't necessary with standard battery. And also there can be an unfit situation maybe so it can be small for extended cover. Then u should put something to be support standard battery.

Why are you getting a standard and an extended? If you want two batteries, why not save up for an additional extended?
I have one of each (not a warranty replacement; the standard came with the phone). I store my standard in my refrigerator at ~40% because I don't use it. I only use the extended. I have considered buying an additional extended but haven't got the cash for it yet.
I bought mine from ebay. I think they are cheaper. I got mine for ~$8.00.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw...=0&_odkw=samsung+galaxy+nexus+i9250&_osacat=0
I just want the Verizon oem battery and cover. I know it only adds 13% to the battery life, but all of the other ones seem too bulky for me. I would generally use the extended battery and pop the standard in when I am away from a charger.
