[Q] Easier way to access music? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a shortcut to access music? like iphone, double tab the home button and you can change songs straight from the home screen. Is this possible with the g2? It makes a whole lot easier when trying to change songs while driving so you dont have to unlock, go to music player on home screen and then hit next.

hopefully when its rooted, you'll be able to hold the volume up button and it would go to the next song (addon)

lol. but wouldn't that just change the volume? theres a nexus one hack that lets you skip+pause songs by clicking the scroll ball when locked. probably could change that to get it to work with the G2's trackpad.

Not sure of an app that does the same as the iPod. But I use MixZing Media Player, you can enable a widget that pops up on your lock screen that lets you pause, play and skip songs. Also shows the artwork for the current song playing. That feature isn't free though. You have to purchase the upgrade for $7.99

skip/back by holding the volume rocker is a standard feature in CM6

I'm not sure why, but that feature never worked on my Nexus. No matter how long I held it down.

You could always use QuickDesk. It'd function exactly how you want it if you put just the music widget on it.

[Q] Is there anyone or an app which can change the volume rocker to skip music?

Is there any app or customization out there that can skip music with long press on the volume rocker? This is a feature I miss, which the iPhones had, I hate having to press the unlock button (which is already annoying) and then change music, I want to be able to change music without touching the damn screen, any info would help.
Thank You

At times like this I wish I knew how to create/modify ROMs.
does anyone found a solution? i miss the remote control function from my iphone, is there a tool that can do the same behavior like on iphone?
(middle button)
one click -> stop/play
fast double click -> next track

The only option was to go on a custom ROM, Cyanogen ROM 6.1 RC2, which I have done, it's awesome.
You could always just use the headphones that come with the phone
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
First you would need to install a nolock app or widget, I use Lock Screen Switch widget but No Lock is good also if you prefer an app. Then you would need to install the button remapper or one like it in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 . I think then you would be able to do it.
thanks, i will try
i've found a better solution,
just download the "Headset Volume Controller" Widget, than put it on your home screen and activate the Widget
than in the htc music player, the controlls are working as follow:
middle klick
play/pause
top/bottom klick
while playing->volume control
while pausing->last/next track
so if you want to skip a track, just click once on the middle button to pause, and the up/down keys work as track control, otherwise while playing the keys work as volume control
works with my htc desire hd and the standard music player.
now there is a much better solution, now it acts exact like the iPhone headset control.
just download the "Headset Volume Controller" Widget, than put it on your home screen and activate the Widget
after that download and just install this app "Headset Button Controller"
now the headset control works like on the iphone:
1x (middle button) play/pause
2x (middle button) skip track
3x (middle button) last track
+/- Volume Up/Down

Volume press by mistake destroy my ears

Does not happen a lot but when I take the phone from my pocket, it happens I grab it and press on the volume (up) button.
Pressing on the volume button (long press) does not only increase by one notch the volume, it increases the intensity as long as I press on the button. In less than 3 seconds, the volume is maxed destroying my ears.
What I would like => Long press does not increases more than one notch the volume. If I want to increase by another notch I have to repress on the buttom.
Long press could be used to skip to the next song. Blackberry had that, I don't know why my galaxy can't do that.
I bought poweramp music player but I was not able to use the double/triple press nor the long press feature to skip to next song.
I am running jelly beans and I was also doing that previous version.
I'm pretty sure most Android phones continue raising the volume if you hold down the volume key, but the S3 does it really fast! If there was a way to lower the repeat rate I'd love to see it.
As for those options in Power Amp, they only refer to headsets with media controls; not the on-device buttons

Yea, volume goes up way too fast. The S3 is not a very nice music player due to that, if you do sport you have to check your phone to skip music while you could do it just by long pressing - no need to take it out of your pocket or look at it!

Skipping song changes volume instead

I have a US Cellular G3 and I play a lot of music. The most annoying problem I've come across is that when I hit the skip button, it just raises the volume, as if I had just hit the volume up button. And the skip back button lowers the volume. I've been using Rocket Player but I noticed this morning that it does is to the stock music app too. I've looked all over online and I haven't seen this problem pop up anywhere, so has anyone come across this problem and is there a fix for it?
Thank you kindly!
Edit: I forgot to mention that it only happens in the lock screen controls, or on bluetooth. In app works fine.

Is there a way to change volume button default to media instead of ringtone?

ia there a way to change volume button default to media instead of ringtone?
I couldn't care less if my ringtone is loud or not. I'm always just wanting to change media volume.
On previous Android devices like lg g4 and Samsung galaxy, if you are watching media, The volume button will control media by default. This doesn't seem to happen on the pixel. Quite annoying as it always just changes the ringtone volume then you have to change it by tapping on the media symbol.
Anyone know of any mods perhaps?

You can try the app Rocker Locker from the Play store. That said though, when I'm playing a media file whether online or locally, pushing the volume buttons do change play volume.

It's a bit of a battery drain I hear, I found a profile in taker that does it. I'll see tasker goes battery wise.

I don't assume that you are an idiot, but most people assume that I am one, or anyone else, by default. So in this spirit I will tell you that you can press a volume button, then touch a downward bracket icon, like this "^" but downward, and then change any volume you want.
If you are not an idiot, you still have to surmount your original problem. If you are, your problem is now solved. It's a win win... if you are an idiot.

app to control Volume with the Ring

I am kind of perplexed about the Media app built into the Galaxy Watch. It works fine, but on the display there is a Foward and Back track button, but the ring controls this also, why do I have to click the volume button to control the volume! Why cant there either be a button on the main screen of that app or let me use the ring!
I have been looking all over for an app that would let me control the volume with the Ring but to no avail on the Samsung store. Any ideas?
would be super helpful! then you would have one screen control everything!
Because it makes more sense to think that normally most people the first thing they do is press play and set the volume they want. Once set the thing they are going to use more often is the next and previous track and not the volume control.
You may think "but why?"
These days most of the audio we get on apps like Spotify, iTunes and others don't have big variations on loudness from one track to another and/or they include settings in the app so you can set them on to normalize the volume, that includes the Samsung music app, making it easier as you don't need to be turning it up and down each time a new song starts.
It could be done? Yes.
Will be? Idk, and really don't care that much because I use more the widget than the app and volume control it's really easy to access when needed in both.
You should try to make the suggestion to give you the option to configure it that way on the Samsung forums or in the galaxy store on the app.
