[Q] Using flash as a torch - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't have G2, but i will be buying a Desire Z first day it comes out here in Europe, on one condition: is there or will there be an application that uses the flash from the camera as a torch?
I use this on daily basis on my TP, i would really miss this feature.

Yes, there is a free one on the market called DroidLight that works. the LED IS BRIIIIIGHT, and i mean VERY BRIGHT.

droidlight +1
there's also "Color Flashlight" - it turns the display all white (or any color you want) - i've used it for some color lighting effect in photography - the Droidlight one is better in terms of brightness though

Thank you for your fast answer. I'll preorder now

I have been using extended controls, which allows you to make a customized power widget, and it works as well. Great little program

Nexus One torch works fine on my G2.

Isnt there an option where you can set longpress home while on lockscreen to enable torch in cm10.1?

Lockscreen
Just go to Menu - System Setting - Lockscreen - Lockscreen Applications, then Slide the Lock-Symbol to a Position you want, then Touch at unassigned - Apps, then choose the integrated Flashlight-App or one that you manually installed and klick Ok.
Done, your Flashlight can be accessed from Lockscreen.

Danke Dark-Vision und Vauvenal7,
I used Vauvenal7 method and I found the lockscreen widget "torchlight" as part of cm10.1.
The problem with Dark-Visions solution is, when I'm on G3 I use a pincode and fast-unlock, so I only see the Lockscreen Applications on wifi.

Hi Netzreporter,
its very Simple...just lock your Phone, than activate the Screen by choosen Method (On/Off button or pressing Trackpad), Slide from the upper Location of the Screen (Clock) to the lower and the Pin-Keypad will Slide down.
Then Slide the Screen to the Left and the Press at the Plus.
Here you can then add the Torch-Widget and with just one Touch at it your Torch is On or Off.
And if you want, you can add 3 Torch Widgets, one for normal Flashlight, Second für Ulta-Bright and Third for Strobo.

[PANEL][DEV][09 APR 09] Project: X-Panel V1.01.09

this is my personal panel development project.
you are free to take a look.
X-Panel V1.01.09
- added battery indicator
- added signal indicator
- added first version of "XDA-DEV" Sub-Panel (portrait mode, landscape coming soon)
issues:
- this panel is based on R2A. i do only test on r3a if the rom is official released
- my code for the indicators is correct but some of them do only refresh after actions like changing the current panel, opening an window or changing scree orientation. this is because the current flash-lite/panelmanager implementation is faulty. the current flash-lite3.1 on the R2A does not redraw regions correctly. i hope this is fixed with the next ROM update.
History:
X-Panel V1.01.04
- fixed some of the indicator issues
- added basic sub-panel support (buttons on the bottom to switch)
- added an ugly "Debug" Sub-Panel to help me debuggin ;-)
X-Panel V1.01.00
- redesign of the buttons to match the clocks grafik.
- bluetooth indicator (with link to bluetooth settings)
- wifi indicator (with link to wifi settings)
X-Panel V1.00.09
- fixed time display
X-Panel V1.00.08
- selfmade "alien clock" (links to alarm settings)
- missed calls indicator-button (glows on missed calls, links to calls)
- missed emails indicator-button (glows on missed emails, links to messages)
- missed sms indicator-button (glows on missed sms, links to sms)
- commmanager-button (quicklink ro Comm Manager)
Installation:
- Install "Flash Lite 3.1"
ActiveX_Deployment_signed.CAB
- Install "Growing Panel"
FlashPanelGrowingPanelInstall-0.1.15.0_signed.CAB
- Install X-Panel.cab
(attached below)
note1: this panel does not overwrite or damage your "GrowingPanel" in any way. also you dont have to use the "GrowingPanel" and you dont have to add it to your panels - it just must be installed.
note2: the "GrowingPanel" installer does not work correctly on non-english devices. if you own a non-english device you have to edit the registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/SonyEriccson/PanelManager/Panels/GrowingPanel/
to match the location of your "program files" folder.
Have Fun,

Great idea
Looking forward to see more and more links/info
(a weather icon would be an ABSOLUTE BOOM)
Congratulations
Looks pretty slick, will def be keeping an eye on this one. Very anxious to see what the sub panels will look like.
very very nice
i got only one question...i think it would install itself over the growing panel files, so i cant user the growing panel...is this rigth or wrong? will i be able to use the growing and your panel after the installation?^^

you can still use your "GrowingPanel" after installation of this panel.
this panel is an _additional_ panel in your panel-list. it just needs the "GrowingPanel" _installed_ because i link to one file ("GrowingPanelAPI.dll") included in the "GrowingPanel". i could simply integrate this API-file in my installer but i am not sure about the legal terms/issues. i hope SE will soon provide an "official" API for developers.
short:
it does not overwrite or damage your growing-panel in any way !
have fun.

p.s.: the next update is coming later today !
I see great potential here
I was thinking of a "cubic" interface (sliding the thumb turns the cube) to get more info/links (a cube can contain up to 6 faces or subpanels)
Just my 2 cents

Seriously!? Teehee, just kidding.. ^_^
Yarp, this is a nice concept. Now it would be even better if it can be made as a stand alone panel, not instead of the growing one. Why? You might ask - let me tell you. There's already three developers working on modifications for the growing panel, what if you want the growing panel itself and one of the mods? Even worse, what if you want all of them!?

maybe i was not clear enough in my previous 2 posts:
all my panels ("X-Panel" and "myFlashPanel") can be used in ADDITION to the growing panel.
they do not modify the original "GrowingPanel" in any way. you can still use it !
also i created the "myFlashPanel"-template so other developers can install and use "myFlashPanel" to modify it instead of the "GrowingPanel".

Oo, that's nice then. good job
install the panel, looks nice but after about 30 - 60 secs it freezes my phone. happened twice (i have r3 panel mananger on the uk r2 rom)
because i have the r3 panel manager after i do a soft reset it would go straight to your x panel and then start to load the rest of the stuff, by the time that was done the panel would freeze again.
was able on the third time to uninstall it before it freezed the whole handset, then did a soft reset to get the phone up and running.
looks like a great panel but at the mo it seems that it will always freeze the phone
thanx for the info.
i do not use the new panel-manager until it is released by SE.
the panel works fine with the 2A panel-manager.
i will check this as soon as the 3A-ROM comes out.

[App request] Open notifications on proximity-detection

I just read the Wave Control Theme and had some very useful idea:
I often have meetings where I can lay my phone onto the desk, but it wouldn't be very kind to touch it to read notifcations.
If the phone would, by waving over the proximity-sersor, wake up and show the notifications, that would be awesome!
The algorithm could be: If phone lies with it's screen up, is't in a pocket (= no proximity detected) and there are unread notifications then switch on screen and open notifications when proximity is detected.

Disabling LED with aokp JellyBean

It's getting confusing for me...
I want to disable the 'Default' notification LED or even completely disable the LED but my Display settings (disable LED completely) are not saved or accepted.
Within Rom Control I can't delete the default profile at all and I can't change the settings so it does simply not work for the default profile.
How can I get rid of each email triggers the LED to lighten but it's disgusting with the big amount of emails I get...

I did this but it's reset to 'on' each time a notification arrives... This is why I am confused

[APP] Bubble Launcher with PA 3.56+ Halo))) support

Hi all,
I've released Bubble Launcher 1.1 here on XDA(free version) and also in play store (payed full version)!
FULL support for PA 3.56+ Halo))) - apps can be launched in downsized MULTI_WINDOW
Bubble Launcher is an 'always on top' side launcher for Android OS. It can be used on top of every opened app.
The starter (Halo))) inspired) hotspot is made as floating system window, so it can be on top of everything on screen!...

Dual Sim Quick Setting Tiles

Hello Friends. Hope you all are doing fine.
Is there anybody who can guide me for getting the quicksetting tile for the second sim in the notification panel? I set up a new sim in the SIM 1 slot and shifted the sim for calls and sms in SIM 2 slot. Earlier used to get 2 quicksetting tiles in the notification panels for both sims. Now getting only one. If anybody has a solution for this, please share.
Please help.
P.S. I couldnt find it in the quicksetting edit menu too.
Did you try to activate the tile?
Its the pen icon under the blue user icon in the top right.

Yes. But I can see only one tile over there. It seems OP3 doesnt have that feature in stock.
