Apps to save battery - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

So now that we have a 1 click root using VISIONary, I have a couple apps that use root that I use that could help you to save some battery on your Vision G2 because they have helped me considerably.
After using these apps charging my battery to full.
44-48 hours off light use
18-20 hours moderate use
10-12 hours heavy use
1. Autokiller (free on market) I use the moderate (30,35,40) preset
2. Watchdog Lite (free on market) I also use the moderate setting and put the threshold to 30.
3. After installing these two items from the market i also did this trick i got from the evo forum this also helped with my reception.
- Goto dialer and dial *#*#4636#*#* (DO NOT press send) wait a second and you will get the test menu. In the test menu choose 'Phone Information' scroll down and choose on the first drop down - GSM auto (PRL) (for high speed data) or GSM only (You may get 3g if not use GSM auto (PRL))
4. SetCPU (Search this site for the apk) Once we get full root and the roms/kernels start coming out i will instruct those of you who dont know how to use SetCPU. But for now just download it because this is the biggest battery saver IMO
I will be updating this thread let me know if you guys have anything to add thanks!

You should really explain to people what you are doing in step 3. Also I believe there are MUCH easier ways to accomplish the same thing.

Y5 Battery Saver found in the market turns Wifi off when no known network is around and turns it on in locations where you were already connected before.
The app remembers the locations automatically. All you have to do is to turn the Wifi radio on at each new Wifi spot. GPS is not used.

Ive been testing juice defender and must say it rocks!

thanx..
I tried step 3 and hopfully it works helping my reception.. so far so good.. now since we have 4g or HSPH now.. will typing this slow it down? Do you want to explain a little more about step 3.. but so far so good.. I am in a basement so ANYTHING to get better reception for me is a good thing.. I honestly feel the G1 got better reception in my basement then my G2 but I hear they are coming out with a radio update and other updates that should really help my reception and random reboots.. Thanx a lot man

ive become a big proponent of extending life as much as possible, both through the use of system settings as well as a few apps. Here is what I use on my N1 to save juice.
1. never use LWpapers. as a matter of fact i usually erase all of them from system/app just to free up space, saving only the lwpaper picker in case I want to check one of them out in the future.
2. not sure if this applies, but if g2 is amoled, try setting your BG image to solid black. Display is usually the #1 killer of battery life for me and for the N1 black bg seems to help. also usually helps if you turn display brightness as low as you can possibly stand it.
3. turn off any functions not in use-ie-BT, Wifi, GPS, etc. I also have had good luck with Wifi Buddy(in Market) which kills wifi after your phone has been turned off for a certain length of time. Wifi kills my battery if i leave it on without Wifi Buddy to kill it, as it remains on even after your phone is off.
4. turn off any syncs you dont use regularly. manually sync them when needed.
5. ive always also done away with any screen changing animations, not sure if that helps really, but I imagine it does in some small way.
6. if you do use setcpu, use it in the on demand setting. pretty obvious, but you prob dont need to run at full speed all the time. this setting will make it ramp up when needed.
7. im not sure about using a task killer application honestly. there was a bunch of speculation at one time that killing tasks automatically actually uses more battery, as the killed process relaunches constantly. Not sure if thats true or not, I use one, but only to kill frozen apps on occasion.
Hope some of these things may help. I know its not exactly the same hardware, but i bet many of these things apply to the G2 as well. Enjoy the G2, looks like a great phone!

does setcpu help without full root and custom kernels or are those needed for setcpu to have any affect on battery life? i installed it and currently using the recomended specs option and seeing if it has any affect throughout the day.

A couple points on #3:
I wasnt able to use the *#*#4636#*#* but I know the menu you are referencing. An easier way to get to that menu is to download "Anycut" in the market. Then make a shortcut wherever you want to "phone information". I have this on my front page.
The second thing is that setting it to "GSM only" is for EDGE only operation. You wont get 3G or HSDPA. There is already a place to set "EDGE Only" in the regular settings menu if you dont want to use anycut. EDGE only does save battery but at slower speeds. I have found that if you have spotty cell service or if you normally see the phone switching between H and E, you are wasting a lot of battery. Using the same menu you can also lock the phone to 3G by setting it to "WCDMA Only" in the phone information menu. Normal operation is "GSM Auto (PRL)".

Will this also help with just getting 3g? I find that my G2 doesnt pick up 3g as much as my N1 did. I think this might be because it gets confused...... I have never seen a steady enough HDSAP+ connection so I'm okay if I never see it again.

Yeah its freakin awesome.
Before w/o juicedefender, in idle mode, I was going to school from 8am-4pm with light use and texting and going from a full charge to about roughly 40 to 35% was ridiculous.
Today after installed jd and then going through the same school shedule and add in there about a few hours (8am-9pm) battery was still at about 69%.
Apparently this application turns off the data enabling while the phone is locked but there is an option where you can run process of less than 55 kb/s without issues, and not to mention the fact that you can also enable data usage with any app. Friend asked me why I wouldn't want internet while the phone was locked and simply enough I just told him, battery is greater than email.
Hope that helps anyone whose looking to extend your battery life.

Vote to get Wifi staying live on device sleep

Windows Phone 7 and also mango will drop wifi on device sleep/screen lock, making receiving emails and other notification impossible unless you have data.
There are people who dont like to use their data services at home, and would love to have an option to keep wifi alive at screen lock, so please vote for this feature:
Vote here for Microsoft to add this feature
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251336
it's like reading my thread again
you are not alone having this issue, its not smart thinking by MS. We need to voice our issues on their site.
I completely agree. It's borderline retarded if MS expects everyone to have a data plan.
Most people do have a data plan, especially here in the US. The issue is the battery, a lot of people will complain if it stays on consistently and kills the battery. But, I do agree there needs to be an option, which is off by default, to enable this. I also think they need to make it stay on while it's actively downloading something, whether it be an app or a website, not start on WiFi and then dip to 3G when the screen is off.
I don't think that's completely true ...
I have a feeling that the WiFi isn't off 100% of the time when the screen is locked, because there are sometimes that I unlock the screen (after a long time from locking it) and I find out that it's already connected to WiFi !
So I'm guessing that it enables WiFi during sleep at certain intervals to synchronize with the cloud (e-mail, notifications, ... etc), if that's the case, then it's not a stupid decision after all

I have to agree here. The reason for the auto-off is for battery saving. I don't notice much difference in battery life myself with WiFi on or off because my screen is almost always off unless I get some sort of a notification or need to look something up. I also agree, that it would be nice to add an option that is defaulted to the current set-up, but when turned on, makes WiFi stay on permanently. Although, I wouldn't expect much battery life with that turned on.
This is great idea, but I would like to ask every1 to vote on everything you think that should be on WP7 (always use 3 votes). It just takes 5mins and helps a lot.

Found this happen to me, but in my case, wifi keep connected when plugged in to the charger, checked that in my router and unlock the phone to see the wifi is keep connected. But wifi will not keep connected if not plugged in to the charger

I'm sure everyone has a data plan. I'm also sure none of those people are stupid enough to waste it when there's a perfectly good and faster WiFi connection at home. Would you rather use your WiFi @ home connection or a data plan when you're at home?
wifi will be kept alive if plugged in a wall socket, this is because if you have setup wireless sync then phone will syc with zune wirelessly when connected to wall socket.
However, the reason for this vote is to voice our opinion for choice...a choice in shape of a simple toggle under settings where we users like us who'd like to use wifi than data at home to keep wifi alive at all times under screen lock....
I've mentioned this before that 3G chip use far more battery power than wifi, so keeping wifi alive at home shouldnt be a BIG hit on battery.
MS can by default have the same setup as is....but users should have an option to toggle this on/off.
iPhone has shown that simple = better. Too many options and choices just confuses the user.
I think the best solution is not an option in the settings to keep it turned on, but to enable it when it's needed, eg,
- Keep it on constantly for push email/applications with push support
- Enable it every 30 minutes (or whenever) for tile updates, email downloading
- Wait until current downloads are finished before turning off WiFi!

I understand the reasoning of what you guys say but now we have another toggle to switch lets not vote WP into being Android with toggles all over the damn place. If you want continuous WiFi its simple plug your phone in then it will stay on even if locked that is a much better solution so when you unplug or are ready to go out the door you know that you have a full battery when you leave.

Why would I want to use WiFi when my phone is asleep? It's not like I'm downloading gigs of data for the tiles. The phone synchronizes only Mail, Push Services, Notifications and a few more things. All in all just a few kb. I don't want my phone to use the battery intensive WiFi connection for these tiny downloads.

Why not? Some people just like it that way, or having a choice is a bad thing on WP 7? They can leave it off by default, and for people that can think with their brain, thay can put something like this, so people can CHOOSE what they want.

Seems counterproductive to have a program running that extends your battery.
JuiceDefender has been doing this for ages. I'll try it out to see how it compares, but I doubt it could improve on it at all. Doesn't look like there are any unique features.
IM trying this on my EVO 4G and I am not sure if it is really SYNCING my account at all with this program... I have left auto-sync turned on and all this program is doing is turning off data when screen is off and back on every 2 hours and also turns it on when I unlock the screen.
However, I dont know how this will sync my accounts.. if I data is off and a scheduled sync comes, will the data come back on?
so far I dont think it does.. I was testing GREEN POWER which had a setting to sync every so many minutes.. but it only went up to every 30 minutes which killed my battery syncing all accounts every 30 minutes..
I want to be able to use one of these battery saver programs but still be able to SYNC account to each accounts time schedule for EMAIL, facebook, weather, etc
some are every 2 hours.. some ever 6, every 8 etc
Thanks...
Hello everyone. My name is Michael and I'm the Product Manager for BatteryXL.
I'm very pleased and pleasantly surprised, to be honest, that someone made a thread about my app on such an awesome site, XDA.
First off, this app is in Beta. It's not perfect nor complete by any means and it will continue to be developed and polished for the foreseeable future.
About BatteryXL's Smart Schedules:
In the Smart Settings menu there is a field called "Smart Schedule"
Here you can select WiFi, Data, and(or) (Auto)Sync.
Then you select a Frequency to connect (15m, 30m, 45m, 1h, 2,h, 5h) and Duration of connection (30s, 1m, etc).
To answer the gentleman's question about Sync:
If Sync is selected, then WiFi or Data (or both) must also be selected. Therefore, whenever a Smart Schedule event occurs including Sync then an internet connection will be initiated (if available).
Hope this clears things up. AutoSync optimization is one of my goals for the future. I want this app to be able to save battery without any unreasonable lag time between emails, social network updates.
Again, please feel free to address any further concerns or questions.

Still confused. If your program has turned data off but then one of my accounts is trying to sync based on its sync schedule in accounts and sync (in Android system settings), will data be turned back on to sync and then off again? I have the setting in your program to turn on data for 5 minutes every 2
Hours along with sync which i also leave that setting on for screen on and off. Let me know.

Sorry to say this, but this app looks like a Juice Defender rip off: it has exactly the same options (some are still missing) and it has a different interface.
Does it actually bring anything different from Juice Defender?

Yeah, it brings a GPS lock that doesn't turn off! Click off GPS in the app, exit and it comes right back up until I turned off GPS with the power widget. Having to bother with turning GPS on and off when I wasn't using any other app that needed it made it an instant uninstall. Honestly, the app seemed shady to me, and don't see a reason to use it over JuiceDefender if you are having battery issues.

Hi cvmass,
The only GPS controls BatteryXL features are a manual on/off (which shares the same functionality as the Power Control widget) and automatic enable/disable based on various events like 'screen unlock'.
If your GPS is turning on or off unexpectedly then that is obviously a bug related to your hardware and not part of the intended user experience. If you want to send me your batteryxl.txt (log) I could work on fixing the problem.
We're not trying to rip-off JD, it's a matter of us trying to create the best app we can to help everyone get more out of their Android devices. Saying we're shady is like saying Android copied iPhone because both has touchscreens, apps, sync, phone, etc... This is a matter of convergent design were in order to save battery power, both apps are regulating your connections based on a series conditions and triggers. I'll be frank, we've used JD here in the lab, frankly we felt like we can do better and that's why we made this app.

Currently, the smart (sync) schedule only operates while the screen is off. but, this will change as of v1.2.4.
According to your settings mentioned above, BatteryXL will enable autosync every 2 hours for an interval of 5 mins. During this 5 mins, all your apps that have synced information are polled for updates.
The problem with the smart schedule now is with push services that assume you are constantly connected to the web. so sometimes, syncs get missed. we are working on it.
Let me know if you have more questions.
I've used and uninstalled BatteryXL twice now. It currently offers a night mode which juicedefender doesn't (for free anyway). First time I got rid of it due to instability (most likely culprit) the second time is because of the data finesse.
I only want to use cellular data when wifi is not available, but when you enable mobile data BXL first of all uses cellular data then wifi is turned on using that. If you turn off mobile data it actually switches off all mobile data so wifi won't work either for WAN transfers. I need option to keep cellular data disabled but leave mobile data on.
Thank you so much for bringing that to our attention - we'll add that to the features list to be added soon. So BatteryXL will basically disable cellular when wifi connects successfully and enable it when wifi is off or can't find a network.
It might be even better to make the mobile data button actually mean cellular data and not mobile data as this is what I thought it meant so was confused when it was turning off ability for wifi to fetch data. You could make mobile data an optional component elsewhere as I think this is a rarer item.
Or add an additional icon for cell data to the common row you have in every state paragraph. This makes the control more granular and ensures no cell data will ever be used even without wifi (which is what I would want for many scenarios anyway). Re-reading my post I can see how I misstated that! Certainly both scenarios could be provided for. Personally it depends when I need data, I can change my calling plan accordingly from month to month.
EDIT: Mobile data only seems to affect cellular data (as you'd expect) but why when it is disabled in BXL does wifi go 'grey' and not get any data, odd. This is why I thought it throttled any data and the toddle for cell was separate.
Does this app still make the GPS constantly look for a signal? I liked the UI a bit better than JD, but it just didn't work when I tried it.

That sounds like GPS partially enabled, like the GPS is on but A-GPS isn't. When that happens to me apps like navigation constantly moan about finding location before they can function.

BXL Uninstall question
I installed it on my I9000 but it was to complicated for me and could not get it to work along with my Email client so I uninstalled it, rebooted my phone and got something I have never seen before when my phone was booted, a message from Superuser stating that System is asking for superuser permission.
Is that natural or is it something that BXL left that caused this?
I'm using Doc's Master ICS V5 ROM.
Thanks
Ophir
I'm not too sure about this app. Been trying it for a day and can see somewhat of a difference, but nothing drastic..
One thing I do like about BatteryXL over JD or almost all the other similar apps is that it's not only free and not crippleware, but there are no ads. I hope it stays that way!
I have had some issues with the app locking up, but acceptable considering it's in beta - hopefully still under active development and improving.
i just tried this app and uninstalled it after it started to make phone calls all by itself to *22899. i would end the call and then it would call it right back. seems like a good app, and could work but that turned me off of it. not sure about the whole mobile data off option though.

[Q] Google Maps always running (even if I stopped)

Hi,
Maps appears always in the battery stats. I don't use Maps. I don't have GPS enabled (I enable it only when I use navigation software; not maps). Location services are always disabled.
When I force stop Maps, this app start itself automatically (right after stopping; sometimes afte some time).
How should I stop it permanently. It drains battery not that much.. but still would like to save some percent.
Thanks!!

I believe you can disable it, if you dont like/have that option you can freeze it with Tibu.
Edit: Strange though it doesn't ever show in my bat stats. Are you using Latitude? I guess it could be showing because of Navigation.
I noticed my g-maps kept showing up in recent apps, and it turned out that it was because of an updated. Once I went into maps, and saw the "new features" page, it hasn't done it since.
Probably not related, but figured I'd throw it out there.
I agree with the Pirate; seems like latitude is signed in.
Thanks. I did following:
- started maps and 'accepted' new features.
- signed out from latitude. Yes.. seems that it was signed in all the time
Will report later if the maps will appear or not in battery stats again.
Thanks!!!

For sure signing out of latitude will save you some juice!
I have issues with google maps.
Version 6.3
Gps and location disabled not signed to latitude. But still have 3 google map service running. Quite annoying.
from what I've read around the internet, this is a problem across devices.
I don't use Latitude (never have), and have turned off location services. But Maps is still a persistently active service/process. I posted on a Google board, so hopefully they will reply.
Maybe the operative question is: who isn't experiencing this issue? Maybe we can figure out why.
Maps is always running for me too, but it is never using enough battery to even be on the battery usage statistics. I rarely see it in the recent apps list either.
I went a few days disabling Maps and noticed absolutely no difference in battery either. I'm perfectly OK with it running and taking up 9.3mb of RAM.

Well i never have maps show up in my battery list, nor in system panel list. But i do see maps running in my settings app menu, 1 service and 1 process. So never seems to use any resources for me.
Google needs to fix this...can't really do anything to remedy this besides freezing or disabling the package when you are not planning to use it.
I've noticed considerably increased battery life with the apk frozen...even with latitude off and location updating disabled Maps causes some battery drain.
Clear data is a solution . . . sort of!
By clearing the data of the maps (in the application manager), you can have the Google maps drop off from your running app list.
But, all the setup/data in the Google maps will be lost by doing so !
so, this is a solution if you don't care the setup / cached data.
I have a Captivate with rooted stock Gingerbread. I have to kill Maps ever so often when it shows up. It's always low double digits percentage of battery usage for me.
No latitudes (Join Latitudes shows up in Maps->More). GPS not enabled.
I allways unninstall it as i dont need it, but i do want it but will wait till they fix it. For me the best map and gps is me ( roll down the window and ask for directions)

Sorry for the near-necropost, but I'm coming at a similar issue, from a slightly different angle, and wanted to scope out any thoughts anyone might have here instead of opening a new thread.
My issue with Maps constantly running is no as focussed on the battery life issue, but rather privacy. I run LBE (basically a selective App permission firewall) and one of the features of this program is the ability to Allow/Prompt/Deny certain application privileges. Well, I set it to prompt me to allow Maps to obtain my location, thinking that it would be only a minimal annoyance since I only use Maps once or twice a week.
Think again. Did you know that while Maps sits there, open, in the background, it checks your location constantly? (well, once every half our or so). I finally set LBE to allow maps to get my location without prompting me, but LBE still flashes a notification bar alert to let me know when an app has requested something like my location. Sure enough, every half hour or so, Maps asks for my location, regardless of how long (measuring even into the days) it has been since I have actually used the app. I don't have Latitude running.
This cannot possibly be something that everyone else is just cool with?
Please tell me this isn't just an accepted evil without a solution?
Root and delete maps from /system/app. do t hardly use it anyways. There is also an older version somewhere that doesn't run in the background and you can actually stop.

Google Maps is running for the network location... barely uses any battery life (having your screen on for a minute will use more battery life) and will not slow down your phone. You guys are freaking out over nothing

No, that's not the case, or at least that's not the behavior that I am referring to.
Looking at the event log in LBE, there are actually two things that Maps is doing at regular intervals in the background:
"Track Your Position"
"Obtain Your Current Position"
That's how it is worded. I'll also add that I have experienced other apps where LBE asks me whether I'll grant permission to obtain my "Network Location". That is a distinct permission (at least as far as LBE categorizes them), and is not what I'm concerned about with Maps.
Regarding the suggestion of uninstalling Maps, I still use it, as mentioned, once or twice a week.
Google tells us that to check the "use location data" means background location data will be sent. Weird thing is practically everyone has a blind spot for it - the old not-reading-the-EULA problem perhaps...
I personally think the info could be of interest for population densities, average distance travelled per day, literally where people go and when. With the obvious proviso that none of it is personally identifiable. Just aggregates...
Google is actually sitting on a goldmine of info, but realistically it will be parlayed into advertising profitability.
To be more precise: "Allow Google's location service to collect anonymous location data... ...Collection may occur even when no apps are running."

General Mobile network standby battery drain - WORKING Workaround fix

Let me preface here with the following:
I'm on the latest Android 12 beta at the time of this post, and I will lose anywhere from 20-40% of my battery without doing the fixes I'm going to lay out in this post. My phone is an unlocked Pixel 6 pro straight from Google, in use for T-Mobile. I did move from physical SIM to eSIM a while back, which did resolve my Bluetooth or Wi-Fi constant drops somehow.
If you care more about 5G connection than battery, then move along and ignore this, as we'll be putting the phone to preference LTE.
Almost all of these fixes I easily found when googling my issues, save the last step, I don't recall seeing that posted anywhere and tried it on my own to finally get positive results. It ended up fully resolving the stand by drain of my battery.
Here are the settings and steps, followed by some battery results after some use.
Setting 1: Under Dev options, turn off "mobile data always active"
{

}
Setting 2: Under Settings > Network & Internet, turn "Adaptive Connectivity" off. I have not noticed any issues with switching from WiFi to Mobile data, so I'm unsure how much help this setting actually is.
Setting 3: Under Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs (T-Mobile in my case), change "Preferred Network Type" to "LTE"
It will say 5G recommended, and that should be selected by default.
Optional, if you want to match me, change or confirm Wi-Fi calling to "Call over Wi-Fi", though I don't think this part matters.
Setting 4 (Final setting, and the part that actually saw the improvement to my battery)
In the same place as setting 3, Under Settings > Network & Internet > Carrier (T-Mobile in my case)
REMOVE the "Automatically Select Network" option, then ensure your carrier is selected under "Choose Network"
* I wondered if this would cause me issue during travel, and during easter weekend, driving 5 hours away to family, it caused me zero problems *
Within the first few hours, then days, I saw MASSIVE improvements to my battery life vs what it was before with defaults.
Example 1: Throughout my work day I lost only 11%, whereas before I would easily be at 70% or less without hardly picking up the device. I check my phone for alerts, MFA codes, and maybe a few other notifications throughout the day. Not much screen on time. IMHO any new phone should only be losing 0.5-1% with the screen off per hour, and this is the first time this has been the case with my P6P.
Example 2: Bed at 10pm, awake at 6:23am, and only lost 6%. I'd not thought this possible a week ago...
And there you have it. I hope this helps someone facing issues with stand-by drain, and I know (like all issues with P6P), this is not affecting everyone it seems. I've been waiting since November for a fix, and this is the best I can get right now. LTE is plenty fast for me, and I'm on my home Gig internet WiFi nearly all the time anyway. I don't know that every single setting in this post is absolutely necessary, but its what is working for me.
I know there have been other posts, but I only saw them as a post of the issue, with an assortment of fixes throughout the threads. I wanted to post this as more of a resolution (well workaround) to an issue many of us know of.
I'll put thread notables after this line (suggestions others have to improve battery life around networking)
This one is from @Morgrain
Turn off:
Wifi scanning
Bluetooth scanning.

Both settings can be found under location services. For a further battery life improvement, Google Location Accuracy can also be deactivated, even though I personally let the stay ON, since it makes a difference in GPS location, meaning if you turn it off, GPS becomes noticeably less accurate.
I never turned off the keep the data active, but one of the first things I turned off was 5G.
At 100% charge before bed, 8 hours later, I usually loose 2-3% of battery.

Just turning off 5G didn't do much or anything for me. So weird how this issue hits people differently. Actually sounds like this issue may not have affected you at all, but you got some additional battery saving via the general 5G turn off.
Oddly enough I cant choose my network on Xfinity Mobile. Clicking the toggle brings me to the selection screen and selecting my carrier does nothing
You pay good money to get the latest greatest flagship and you disable one of the greatest benefits, 5g network capability. I don't get the logic.

It's a simple logic (speaking for OP here, and other people with the same issues).
The manufacturer of this phone used an inefficient, old modem (something that 99% of the customer base was not aware of before buying the phone) that causes massive (battery) problems when actually utilizing this feature. And now humans are trying to find a middle ground, meaning keeping the phone but improving battery life, by disabling features that have little meaning in everyday life (5G is cosmetic at best, 4G is plenty for YouTube streaming or music streaming). I never had a situation in my life, where I thought "man, having 200 MB/s more connection speed now would be super important on my phone!"
People scroll the web, watch videos, watch twitter/tiktok whatever feeds and listen to music. For that 4G (and 4G+) is more then enough. 5G only really makes sense if you want to use it as a hotspot for a PC or laptop, and even then 5G is only truly useful when downloading or uploading bigger data files - a use case that most people probably do not have (most people have WiFi where they spend their everyday life).
So I do not understand, why you do not see that obvious logic?
-------
Regarding OP: The manually "Select Network" sounds like an interesting idea. I'm not sure why it would make a difference (since the phone should only ever select the carrier network anyway), but I'll give it a try and see how it works. Personally, my battery life experience ever since updating to the march update (and now April) has been abysmal. Where I- before - went to sleep with 20% left in the battery, I now need to top up, every day, around 2000. Meaning I lost about ~30% of battery life since updating to Android 12l (nothing else changed, my usecase is the same, SoT is the same, wifi/LTE ratio is still the same). Hopefully your trick/idea can make a difference. I've grown annoyed at carrying a power bank with me (again), something that I didn't have to do since I bought the phone in October (until march).
-------
A trick that also saves battery life (OP should put it in his text) is deactivating
Wifi scanning
Bluetooth scanning.

Almost like it has to do with your carier, data signal and how far you are from an antenna..
Anad it doesn't use 40% of your battery, it's used X% of Y% that has drained during the last 24 hours, so the less you use your phone the higher it will seem.

It could be carrier and radio for sure. I had maybe 1-2 bars at my parents' this past weekend, and still only lost 0.5-1% an hour with these fixes, so I'm not sure distance is a key factor in this case.
I know all about the % use variables, and its a bit confusing, which is why I didn't put any screenshots or data showing that in the OP. Focused on standby drain, and we all seem to get that its a primary result of some issues with the mobile network setup.

Adaptive connectivity is advertised as minimizing 5G use when the system/ai determines it's not needed.

Adaptive connectivity is a feature from adaptive connectivity services, which does more than 4g and 5g hand off. Based on the play store listing.
Like how adaptive charging is a feature from device health services app, which also does other things besides adaptive charging.

Agreed as some of us don't even have access to that due to Google having it locked on our network
I get this long list of networks to choose from when I disable Automatically Select Network. So if I select LTE, does that mean that if I get to an area that doesn't have TMobile LTE coverage, that I will lose connectivity, even if that area has the other TMobile networks listed below?

Make sure you follow the other steps first as you shouldn't see 5G or 3G listed otherwise.
As for your main concern...
Honestly I'm not positive what will happen. However, I did a test run of this by driving from IL to my parents house in Indiana (almost Ohio, 5 hours) on Easter weekend. Lots of farm land and I only lost signal 2 times for less than a minute. This also happened before all of my changes, so no change in behavior for me. Most carriers are in the process of sunsetting 3g, so I'd imagine you'll be fine.

Ouch man... go easy now.
I don't want to have to turn it off, but Google needs to fix it first. 4G is still plenty fast for everything mobile, I'm not trying to run Internet for my whole house with it. That is about the best use case for 5g. I have zero problems streaming anything at full quality. I also am on my home WiFi 99% of the time so I could care less. I made a point to move along if turning off 5g is an issue, so thanks for following that instruction.

Some of these options don't show up for some folks, myself included. I kept the two photos that I don't have access to on my phone. At one point I do remember having the option to "automatically select network," but now I don't.
I'm unsure why I can't choose my preferred network type, despite some custom roms giving this ability. I typically have to go into the phone dialer to change this option.
The steps you've outlined have been posted in numerous threads, albeit scattered lol. IMO having to do all these steps is unacceptable, and hope the new Pixel 7 resolves such issues.

Question Automatic mobile data and wifi being turned off after a period of interval of device being inactive

Hi, every time I leave my device idle for approximately 30 or more minutes (couldn't determine an exact data on the timing) from the purchase date, my phone automatically turns off its wifi and mobile data! And as soon as you turn on its screen via unlocking or just the lock screen via the button, it starts the mobile data instantly and also the wifi (and bluetooth) is enabled and it starts searching for signals. Now I have been trying to search for this problem for a long time and the customer service too via email dosent know what to do and want me to send the device to their factory for further inspection, so I thought to ask here before doing the same. The problem it causes is that I'm a foreign student and need access to the internet 24hrs so as to recieve calls from my friends and family and hence it creates problems doing so since the network is disabled!
Could you maybe help me a bit please?

Sorry and thank you but it's already on "NEVER"
OK try this goto the same settings page
Look in app battery saver section click the three dots in the top right hand corner and select show system apps and then look for network or Wi-Fi and make sure that it is not blocked from background activity make sure that it has no restrictions.
If that doesn't work maybe try this
"to fix the Wi-Fi you can enable personal mobile hotspot and set it up if it's not already setup with a good strong WIFI password. Once you enable the personal hotspot you will see the Wi-Fi magically start working and now you can disable the hotspot, Wi-Fi stays connected."

also look in the list for anything else you think might be relevant and check if that is restricted or not and un restrict the battery.
if that doesn't do it then you will need to do a factory reset

Make sure that your phone is not in battery saving mode.
Make sure that it is not your source of Wi-Fi that is the problem I'm not sure how that could be the case but you never know.
if it is not your only option is to to factory reset your phone.
1.My phone's never in battery saving mode
2.the wifi isn't the problem, all other devices stay connected as normal just this one dosent.
3. I have done the factory reset near about 5 times till date.
4. The problem is not only with wifi. It's with all connectivity options, the wifi, the mobile data and also the bluetooth
