What the possibility of flashing an epic to work properly on vz? I see it can be done on cricket....I'm not worried about Verizon having the meid in the system....anyone out there do this? Thanks

Why is it you're not worried about Verizon having the MEID in their system? That is all you should be worried about. If it is not in their system, they will not allow the device on their network.

I can have it added.....so back to my original question.......can it be done??

I'm sure there's a way, you just won't have 4g. May need msl. Just use getprop to get it

Of course its Possible i have did for 2 Carriers in India why not Verizon, get your MEID added and be in touch be me.

If you can have it added then I think you're going to have to find out through trial and error, as not many have that kind of access. Let us know how it goes.

if i could do it id take my epic to verizon how do i do it!

Make a donation to suzook to get added to the system, lol.

As far as I know, I remember some people said they could call in and say they were an Alltel orphan - but since it's been a while since the merger I doubt that still works.

need a link

i have it on vz network, talk and text work fine, but data is a no go, i have tried the same methods for cricket...but stillno go. im hoping someone can point me in the right direction

Verizon won't stop you from using a Sprint phone, but they won't help you, either. Assuming the software radio itself isn't the problem, you're basically going to have to wait until there are AOSP kernel and Android builds for both the Epic and Fascinate, then figure out how they differ and hack an Epic build to incorporate the changes in the Fascinate build. Then copy over Verizon's own apps for things like voicemail.
If you need a new radio, all bets are off. AFAIK, radio firmware signed with Verizon's key won't install on a phone expecting Sprint's cert, and vice-versa. Unlike Android itself, the radio firmware is very, very encryption-locked, because it's basically impossible to get a phone with software radio past the FCC if it's not (unless you're only planning to sell it to licensed ham radio operators, and have the means to enforce it). I'm not sure whether it was possible to reflash Sprint WinMo phones to work on Verizon because the radios used the same firmware, because the radio firmware was signed by HTC in both cases, or because someone found a way to defeat the protection.
You'll probably have better luck if you try to get 1xRTT working before EVDO. I believe there's a small difference between the way Sprint and Verizon's EVDO works (one that's entirely due to software and not insurmountable, but might be the reason why Sprint phones doing data roaming on Verizon seem to be limited to 1xRTT, assuming it's not just a business decision by Verizon and/or Sprint to allow Sprint users to only roam at 1xRTT.

Has anyone been able to solve this? I have my epic for sale or trade for a verizon phone with no offers... So I'm curious if I can just take it to verizon with me.. since its bad ass..

I fixed the data not working on an epic flashed to cricket by changing the msl to 000000 and dialing *228 so maybe try that. If you can manage to find a cool vzw tech rep get them to go into switch view in acss, go to the data section and uncheck the box that requires validated shared secret data for data use. I would help you myself but I no longer work there. Directv has better benefits I wish you the best of luck bro.

if someone has a phone active already, they can extract the shared secret and write it to the Epic.
No radio firmware or ROM will make it work or not work.
lots of sprint phones are active on PagePlus. They will activate almost any CDMA device. PagePlus is a vzw MVNO.
I've said enough.. any more might be breaking the rules

I'm tryin to figure out how to do the whole entire thing from the beginning.

we're not allowed to discuss that here. it's against XDA rules.
I'm sure there are many here that could give you a description of what needs done via PM or something, but we can't discuss it in the open forum.

It suddenly became against the rules to discuss using phones on different carriers? This is no different from discussing bringing a T-Mobile phone to AT&T and making things work -.- Sure there's no SIM card in this discussion and the technology is different, but that's it.

It is not against the rules. Only making a phone with a bad esn work is.
But this is a question and belongs in Q&A

In addition, changing the Mac address is going to screw things up since Sprint's numbering/handset system uses that to route and authenticate wimax traffic. Why the hell would you want to do this?
I guess spoofing another 4G Wimax device... but not only would you have to spoof the wimax info but you'd have to spoof everything else as well....

An option that was put there by Samsung in the original Epic 4G illegal? No.
Stealing someones MAC address to use as your own illegal? Yes.
See the difference? Editing a MAC address is not illegal. The MAC address is not the ESN. It is not the sole hardware identification ID. The ESN editing legal/illegal debate is for another time/place.
All the wannabe lawyers can go elsewhere. Nothing here is illegal.

Ok - so you want to use a different MAC address from say a Wimax laptop on your phone instead of the MAC address already there. Fine - makes some sense. But how are you going to activate the phone? It needs to pull a profile from Sprint, and it uses 1xRTT first to do so in order to validate a number of other things associated with the device before it finishes the "Update profile" task. The way Sprint's system is, all of those things are tied together at the ESN level - so how would this work? How would this help with CM7+?
And you're right - it's not the sole hardware identification. But let me break this down for you:
Subcriber relates to a ESN/Phone#/MSID combination
ESN relates to MEID, MAC address, manufacturer, model, etc.
Just changing the MAC address isn't going to help you since you've now broken the relationships and the provisioning and routing path. So what's really at play here?
EDIT: Oh - and sure the option was there on the Epic 4G - but it wasn't for the user, but for the Sprint/Samsung tech's and provisioning, etc. You just happen to be able to get there because someone dumped the # codes needed and you have your MSL. Does not mean it was provided for you and should be something you should mess around with. I mean, sure - a shotgun has a barrel you can look down but that doesn't mean it was meant for you to do so... just ask Mr. Cobain.

The phone doesn't need to be activated on Sprint's network at all. Throw out all the standard thinking that you have to buy this at a Sprint store and tie it to a Sprint contract. I can walk into a Best Buy and buy the phone off contract. The WiMAX radio on our phones works independently from the CDMA/EVDO/WIFI/BT radios. An unactivated phone with working WiMAX still gets working data. Think SIP calls, Google Voice SMS, Internet Browsing, Email, Netflix/Hulu/HBO Go, Kindle, Google Music, Google Maps, Twitter, Camera/Cam w/Flickr support etc.. all over free/cheap WiFi/WiMAX-only connection. Oh, and all this fits in your pocket.

Yep - you can use this phone without data via Wifi as well. My question, and it will help in this discussion, is how are you going to provision this phone? Just changing the MAC address is not going to allow the provisioning you need. This phone was programmed to interact with the specific Ensemble provisioning system put together by Amdocs for Sprint Nextel (and subsequently Boost and VM). You can't just provision Wimax from say Clearwire (because they're the only other Wimax provider in the US - and it's still just Sprint) on it without their provisioning program. It's all well and good to clone a MAC address - but just cloning a MAC address isn't going to resolve that provisioning that will need to take place, i.e. placement of RSA keys, etc. The Evo hack had to duplicate that transaction - but the framework was already there. You're talking about duplicating a framework for something that exists that we're not sure how (which is a good thing to learn how Samsung is doing it) and then trying to apply it to an entirely different provisioning schema... See what I am getting at?

Any further development for WiMAX for either the Epic and Epic Touch would be beneficial to both communities. This project, if accomplished, would help the Epic's CM development as they do not have WiMAX working yet. That would, in return, help the Epic Touch's CM WiMAX development in the future when it comes time for that. We as a community have no info of how WiMAX works with Samsung phones. The Evo and all other HTC devices had their phones explored.. WiMAX partitions found.. extracted.. backed up.. edited.. etc etc. And after all of that knowledge look how long it still took to get 4G working with CM7 on the Evo. Yet the Samsung phones have none of this. A project like this might give another dev thats not involved with CM a chance and possibly be a huge break to us all. We've all been told that our WiMAX isn't like HTC's and we don't have to back it up.. or worry about it.. etc etc. But why? How's it work? No one's curious? Unacceptable. I'm not saying you have to care about this project or be involved... but all the nay sayers.. think outside the box or go away. This is my thread and no rules are being broken.

Ok, so like you said.. its not the sole identifier and it's in no way illegal to modify the MAC address. BUT, just changing the MAC address IS going to help me since I'm only looking to get on a WiMAX network. Sprint provisioning isn't required at that point so throw all of that out the window.

As far as the menus being for technicians only... it came with my phone. Officially sold by Samsung to me, the consumer. You do not need your MSL to run WiMAXLineTest.apk on the Epic 4G. Simply run the .apk and write a new MAC address. No elevated privileges are required. Any user that owns the stock phone can do this. This wasn't a special dev phone leaked.. or something acquired illegally... this is the RETAIL PHONE! Every phone on this forum has official bootloaders removed and replaced, roms tweaked and apps ripped from one phone and put on another. This is nothing different.

This would technically be classified as something different since XDA does not endorse nor allow telling someone how to mimic another ESN, i.e. a stolen or bad ESN. So you're treading a thin line here

Yep - good plan. We all want to use what we purchased. More power to you. But don't for a second think that your plea's to be left alone and not be questioned about your hypothesis or motives will in some way be granted so that you can say or do whatever you want. Challenging an idea, aka playing devils advocate, is NEEDED for anything to be improved, changed, discovered, etc.
I skipped to the end here. On the Epic you had to have 4g on when changing MAC address. I assume you tried that already. I just saw the Wifi icon in screenies...Sprint actually puts some sort of extra layer (proxy?) in there. I changed my Epic to my straight Clear MAC and averaged 1 to 1.5Mbps faster download but always went back to my Sprint MAC because most of Clear's plans have 1Mbps upload cap.

I can see how this would benefit a lot of people. Being able to change the WiMAX settings on a phone branded for one carrier and running on another carrier would be a great option, for example someone buys a refurbished phone from say... an "authorized Boost Mobile dealer" but the phone doesn't have WiMAX, Being able to edit those settings to enable WiMAX in some way would be great. I'll be watching this thread for updates keep up the good work kids.

That right there is 100% illegal.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Really.. How would it be illegal?
Sprint wont allow you to get a contract without a hefty deposit and the customer service agent mentions Boost or Virgin. Check.
Boost mobile "retailer" has an Epic 4G for sale with no WiMAX, Ok, nice phone but I want 4g.
Clear (A Sprint owned company) Offers 4g access nationwide.
I buy my phone, Its activated from a retailer on a sprint owned network. Editing the WiMAX settings to change the realm and activating that on Clear is not illegal as you are NOT cloning someone elses information. You're legally enabling your information to be processed through an alternate carrier.
Now if someone was running around ripping peoples phones apart just to get free WiMAX then yes we would have a problem, but this isn't the case here, and before you spout off about apples and oranges this same example can be applied to rooting your damn phone. You're changing something to enable more functionality of a device you paid for.
Guys this works 100% I know for a fact it does since I've done it myself to another phone and I'm sure it's completely legal as long as the Mac address is your own. autoprime check your PMs please.

Can you flash verizon phones to sprint??

I have heard of people using a evo on verizon i been eyeing the droid razr so if possible i wanna flash it to sprint. I called a store they said no but they prolly just want me to spend money on a new phone. So is it possible?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
AFAIK, this is impossible because Sprint will not activate a phone from outside their network.
I believe the CDMA frequencies are incompatible, but don't quote me on that.
Are you sure the Evos are in Verizon? I've heard of them on Cricket and other smaller carriers that use the Sprint network, but not Verizon.
I do not believe this is possible due to Sprint being a jerk. You COULD buy the Droid Razr unlocked and plead with a Sprint rep, but I would say you have next to no chance of getting them to activate it for you. Sprint will only activate a phone that has an ESN number that is in their database, they COULD activate it, but that is against their TOS and no rep even has the power to do it for you, you would have to practically get Dan Hesse on the phone to do it
My advice would be to wait a little bit (unless your current phone is on the fritz and you need a new one now, and in that case, go with the Epic 4G Touch, I love mine!!) and see what is out there, the Galaxy Nexus MAY or MAY NOT come to Sprint, but I would expect at least 2 or 3 top of the line Android devices by the end of Q1 2012...... Ultimately the choice is up to you... Best of luck!!
It is being done you have to unlock the phone so the freg can be changed to work on a different carrier. You do not tell what type of phone u just give the ESN number after you hack the hardware info. You would be surprised how often this is being done. Most of your local cell phone providers have the software to make this happen and when i mean your local cell phone provider. I am talking about the ones that offer service cheap or have the phone in the store that you can buy. the mom and pops.
I have to "lol" at some of the replies. Sprint and Verizon use the same cdma frequencies, 800mhz/1900mhz. Why do you think Sprint phones can voice and data roam on VZW?
Anyway, what the OP wants to do is achievable via *wink* *wink* methods, and it's not easily done anyway but possible.
Google is your friend.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
I thought there was a law against them not allowing this?
When I was with T Mobile (GSM) they were required by federal to give you the subsidy unlock code and could not deny the usage of any other GSM phone on their network so long as the IMEI wasn't blacklisted for being stolen/lost. I could call AT&T to unlock one of their phones to use on T Mobile - obviously data was a nogo because of the AWS band.
So there's nothing like that for CDMA carriers?
Like what newalker91, none Sprint ESN will not work. But any Verizon phone will work on Sprint. You will have to do the same thing as they are doing to the EVO's.
Look for a broken or older Android phone with a good ESN.
huh? Google it!
newalker91 said:
For one, the 3G frequencies on Sprint are locked out to phones not registered in the ESN database and the phone will NOT work on Sprint's network. Calling Sprint a jerk for this is ridiculous and shows how little research has been done by the complainant.
For two, this has nothing to do with the Epic 4G Touch, therefore this thread is being reported as spam/incorrect section.

If that's the case, how can we load certain PRL's and roam on Verizon's network using 3G? Or is roaming a different story? It would seem we're not exactly "lock out" due to the ESN not being registered, maybe mildly restricted?
There seems to be some major gaps in what you said but I could be wrong, care to elaborate?
As far as reporting this thread, that's a douchey move. The OP has a legitimate question, it just seems people have heard different *facts* about the topic so there's a few different answers. That's no reason to report the thread and try to have it deleted - obviously there's an information issue on this subject that needs to be resolved. Even more of a reason to keep this thread open.
CDMA phones are essentially unlocked. You can get your SPC/MSL, for my Vogue and Mogul, I called sprint ant they gave the MSL even though at the time I was under contract. Now I just use CDMAWS. Everyone knows Verizon's MSL code, 000000. With your msl you can change configurations to your hearts content, provided you have the software.
The problem is that Verizon and Sprint will not activate a meid/esn that is not in their system. Yes they are both protecting their interests by making sure you live up to your agreement but I also think they do not want to take the to time trouble shoot every stinking phone that some yahoo wants to put on their network. Keep in mind every phone they release has been tested and configured to work on their network, they don't some strange phone coming from a Korean/Chinese CDMA network with who knows what settings configured on their network. There are a ton of configuration options that other carriers can use. Thankfully Verizon and Sprint keep the configs on the simple side.
Getting a E4GT on Verizon/MetroPC/Virgin/Boost is a piece of cake. Its one of the easiest phones to do. Many HTC phone are harder to do but can be done. LGs look simple but the Optimus seems to require using LGNPST to unlock some entries before you can get changes to stick. I was using a Droid Incrdible on my Sero plan for 6 months before I changed phones. Going in to details on how is discouraged and I have been warned against doing so by a mod.

Yes, it's possible. When I worked at Sprint I had a customer come in with an Evo on Verizon (he later came back to Sprint). You take a Verizon smartphone and swap ESN's with the phone you want to put on. It's not illegal if you swap them, and it's not like anyone's going to know, because on their system, it'll show up as the other phone, not what you're actually using. It's not a straight-forward process but if you can follow directions it's not too hard.

It's not that simple. You have to use programs to swap the ESNs. As in take the ESN from the Pre and put it on the Droid Razr. And then you give them the Pre ESN (which is really the Droid Razr) and it'll work on Sprint. You'll still need to change some stuff like the APN/MMS settings, among other things, but out of the box, it should make calls/SMS texts.
A little bit of a downer...
Theres only one problem with that... Droid Razr uses a Sim card for network identification. I know its CDMA, but all LTE phones on Verizon require a sim card, also it has no ESN number. So, until Sprint gets LTE, then no Razr on Sprint, unless someone hacks the sim card to have an ESN number (which I have seen with the HTC ThunderBolt), but if Sprint does get LTE, then you have to change the IMEI number with a 4G LTE phone on Sprints Network, and even then, you still only get Sprint 3G, unless they plan to use the same bands as Verizon, but good luck trying to get it on Sprint!
ok here's the breakdown.. because 90% of the info in here isnt correct. few guys said some worthwhile stuff tho.. so everyone dont hate
the droid razr isnt getting on sprint... youre not editing the moto meid. not possible. there are some scripts out there that edit the moto meid on bootup but its buggy and does not work on all motos. unless youre super mobile hacker.. youre not touching this method.
other phones... samsungs/htc/lg... as gedster314 said... can all be easily edited. each individual phone may have its quirks but in general.. they all generally use the same methods to edit meid/3g profiles.
now... as for what Jayjaymac said above about it not being able to work without a sim card. generally this is correct.. when doing everything by the book. but you can remove the sim card and rewrite the serial built into the phone and rewrite it as the meid.. and then youre on cricket/metro/boost etc. now again... youre not editing the moto meid... but its because of how moto locks down their phones.. NOT because of the lte sim. the samsung charge has a weird chipset so no one has interfaced it with QPST yet.. so no meid change there either. the htc thunderbolt can easily be put on any cdma network.. that has a sim. any htc device wouldnt be a problem putting on other networks... vzw gnex would work as well.
tl;dr
the moto cant be done... but not for the reasons people specified in this thread. if u wanna edit meid's.. dont ever choose moto.
Yes, like auto said, the MEID was created as an ESN replacement. You cannot "clone" and MEID to another device to fool Sprint anymore. Old ESN devices could be done that way, but that is no longer the case with MEID

i didnt say that
you can certainly edit meid's on phones still. any htc device, 99% of samsung devices, 90% of lg devices... all editable. you can even force meid phones back to use esn-only if you must.
the issue in this thread is that the OP wanted to edit the motorola droid razr, but you are unable to edit it due to how motorola locks their phones down.
and to everyone else reading this thread.. no this thread will NOT be used for directions on how to do any of this. we're merely discussing whether something is technically possible or not.

[Q] Bring Epic to Ting Mobile by swapping esn?

My wife and I use our phones more for the smart phone functions, and maybe use 300-500 minutes, 500 texts a month. The ting mobile plans would save us $1000 a year, the problem is that you have to buy phones straight from them.
According to the Ting support, some of their customers have gotten around this problem by purchasing one of their cheap phones, and then cloning the ESN to their better sprint / verizon phone. Ting encourages this, but I need to figure out how to do it.
Any ideas? Thanks!
I tried to post the link to the ting support staff statement, but apparently I haven't posted on XDA enough yet. So to find the forum post, just highlight this (including the quotation marks) and google it:
"Is it possible to activate ex-Verizon or ex-Sprint smartphone on Ting?"
This is possible I'm sorry I don't have a how to but I'm here to give you some encouragement. This has been done on numerous different wireless carriers so if you figure out how it would be as simple as 1,2,3...
I think flashing to alternative carriers doesn't differ so if you look at the how to flash boost mobile or cricket here on xda and ask them ill link them to ya

Really man... you haven't seen the threads on how to do this for boost, virgin, and cricket? Those threads have been here since before I was a member... you're just not allowed to go into significant detail about it... as long as nobody explains how to do the esn switch you all should be alright... (btw there are TONS of guides on how to do this.... its basically the same for every carrier with minor changes here and there...) not hard to do and takes less than 20 minutes once you get it down... also if you would rather metro pcs or have one in your area most of their stores have a rep there that will do this for you... just don't pay them until they get data working!!!!

Ah, OK. Thanks for the clarity. I've seen other folks threads get quite beaten up over that sort of thing.

Should have no problem flashing the phone as long as both phones are cdma phones. Might be difficult getting mobile data and MMS working though. I am running an epic on virgin mobile and everything works except mms. I have gotten mms to send just can't receive it. As for the legality I made sure to zero out the esn on my old phone so both cant be active at same time. Might be a good idea to avoid the risk of being banned.

Entirely Possible
Yes, a Sprint phone on Ting would be easy to do. In your case, the Epic 4G phone by Samsung is incredibly easy to change the ESN on. All Samsung phones are really... especially on Verizon as their SPC codes are 000000. The standard Samsung SPC code unlock password though should work on Sprint Samsung phones. Google around for it.
The problem with all of this though is that you'll have to purchase a Ting phone in the first place. Now maybe you could purchase the feature phone that they have available and use that ESN, but using hundreds of megabytes on an ESN that is supposed to be a feature phone might be suspect in Ting's system. I'm not sure they would care though, but you would stick out like a sore thumb. Buying one of their smart phones seems to defeat the purpose of doing this as you would be left with a unusable smartphone that is probably better than your Epic 4G in the first place. You could take your Epic 4G to Boost. I admit, Ting rocks especially for more than one phone on a plan, but Boost isn't bad.
Don't go to Virgin Mobile. It is the same network as Sprint and Boost, but getting the phone on VM is difficult. You need the A-logins and Passwords that are difficult to get if you don't know what you are doing. Also, VM seems to more actively police their network for this type of use and if you don't have everything exactly copied from the donor phone you'll be noticed. No one really is sure what all needs to be copied over and after about 3 months or so the phone is usually noticed. It is kinda a mystery. I noticed that a person above said he has a phone on VM from another carrier. Might want to inquire with him though he said that he had several phones so maybe the little use of the VM phone is enabling him to skirt under the radar.
For the person looking for AT&T on Verizon... as already mentioned... not possible. I would look into using Red Pocket for AT&T's MVNO. You could also go to Simple Mobile, but would not get 3G data.
Let me know of anyone else has any questions...

Virgin Mobile isn't hard to do.. I wrote up the guide for us, the only ones having issues are the few who don't use the phone written on the guide, and many who do not bother reading the guide. I have heard boost is actually more tedious.

[Q] how to unlock the Samsung Galaxy S 2 Epic 4G touch from Sprint

Hi! this is my first time posting on this forum.
I want to unlock my SGS2 Epic 4G Touch from Sprint but I can't seem to be able to do it.
I was able to root it and have Superuser access, I downloaded Chainfire's app from the Android Market and ran it, but it says the system couldn't find the unlock code.... don't really know how to move forward from there...
Also, this is the Gingerbread EL29... and doesn't have an IMEI but rather a MEID which makes it harder for me to find an app to unlock it...
Any help please?????

My friend "unlocked" please expound further on what you are trying to do. We dont have to unlock our phones. Now are you trying to get your MSL code?
Edit: Also everything you need to know about this phone is either in the wiki or a sticky on the development page.
I have it locked for Sprint use only, but I wanna be able to use another carrier... I'm not sure abotu what I need... I already rooted the phone, I know I need a code to be able to unlock it... but I'm unable to get it. for some reason

"Unlocking" is only for GSM phones with a "SIM". Since you have almost certainly opened the backplate of the device, did you see a SIM slot?
No?
Oh, yeah, that's because the Epic Touch is a CDMA device.
You cannot "unlock" the GSM telephony, if there is not one to begin with.
You should be looking for APN settings for your carrier and a way to input them.
And, do some research, because it doesn't seem that you are at a required level of knowledge, of the system you are messing with, to even be attempting it.

CDMA carrier
type of radios in the phone. One cannot be used on another.
Maybe tell us who the provider is you're hoping to switch to and someone else can maybe look it up.
If your provider is GSM and you bought a CDMA phone, you're seriously out of luck.

CDMA my friend quite simply it wont work. there is no sim card and nothing to unlock. trade it for the AT&T SGII or Tmobile branded SGII

There is no such thing as an unlock code for a CDMA device, unfortunately for you.
In the US, if you find a CDMA carrier that is willing to activate a CDMA phone that wasn't originally designed for their network, you would have to give them the phone's ESN number (found behind your battery). They would add it to their network, which would allow them to activate your phone on their network. They may also require your IMEI, which is the same thing as the MEID. You can get this from the same sticker, or dial *#06# on your keypad.
You will have to contact the carrier you intend to use the phone on and see if this is possible. I know somebody who did this when their work sent them to China for two years.

My Galaxy SPH-D710 was purchased in Michigan through Boost. I just moved to Maine where there is no boost, and U.S. Cellular unkindly rules. This project is on my level but I ran into an issue I hope to fix tonight after 5 days of code manipulation. Ok, so here's the story.
Obviously my phone will not connect to a carrier, and no service tower to make things harrier XD. So amongst the edits and flashing, I lost my MSL. Come to find out, here is why: U.S. Cellular accepted my device on their network. It was simple, just said it was an sch-r760, they put in my ESN/MEID Dex and viola, accepted. Ok, here's the kicker (not as nice of a kicker as is in my trunk if you catch my drift)... APNs are locked as you well know. The question is, where the crap did my MSL go? Boost was going to give it to me but since I've been out of service for months and I flashed with no tower near, ALLLLLL DATA ASSOCIATES WITH MY ACCT is just gone. Phone records, MSL, even device specs.
My question... when I get to a tower, I will have to activate back on Boost to get their system to issue me an MSL to then be able to add U.S. Cellular APN settings after receiving my unlock code... OR since its also ATT, and Boost and U.S. Cellular both use ATT towers to roam around here... Will I receive my U.S. Cel access? I have already Paid my U.S. Cell activation and monthly charges. I couldn't have paid if my phone wasnt accepted. Even US Cellular said this. I'm betting I get on Boost network, then have to diag MSL add APN since I cannot edit and stick without MSL. Oi... What I do know, is I will prevail, I never fail! When I do, I will write an impenetrable Tutorial and circulate it to U.S. Cellulars demise

i don't think its possible to unlock cdma, other than flashing to page plus, but the reason why gsm is so easy to unlock is because you insert a different network card into ur 3G sim card slot, and u type in your network code when it asks,,,,,cdma(phones that don't take sim cards) are flashed to that carrier firmware wised which means you would go through alot just to reflash to another carrier.try flash to pageplus, that will cost money, but dirt cheap as low as $7

Seems to be working OK. But I have slow data issues on Prl 53000. It does show that I am on Evdo Rev A. I did just get a roaming data notice too. Something about too much roaming data. I'm on the stock LJ7 rom and rooted. Also, when I dial 611, still goes to Sprint. What am I doing wrong here? New rom?

Very nice video.
I have the same setup. With stock and rooted LJ7 ROM and Baseband. When I dial 611, I get Verizon. Phone and texting works fine, but I can't get 3G to work. I tried to replace the 53000 PRL with the 1X one and still the same. I'm getting "No network connection. No signal found for mobile networks".

Hmmm. Sometimes, what fixes it for me is to just reboot the phone.
Otherwise, sounds like something didn't flash over correctly. I always try and make sure that when flashing, I check the log and see that its successful / complete. If not, you'll end up with issues.
One issue I had was my phone number wasn't showing up when going to About Phone Status in Settings. It only showed the last four numbers. Reflashing worked fine for me.
And other thing. Did you follow the instructions about going the web on the gusto 2 first? I had to actually pick a website and try to open it.
Good luck!

You need to call verizon tell them your phone is not receiving text, and no data. Have them to reauthenicate the account and maybe you will get data then...... The problem with flashing to Verizon Prepaid is one wrong move and account gets locked out.........

You didn't write something correctly or missed a step. dial *228 on your phone. It may not let you dial the one or the two so just hang out and it will program your phone for you also then write the 53000 prl. I promise that if you follow the video exactly you will get 3g data unless you live somewhere that doesn't have 3g data.
I also want to touch on vipers comment about getting locked out of service. I'm constantly saying this but I'll say it again. I've been on verizon prepaid myself for over a year now. I'm currently on the 35 dollar plan. I haven't had any problems with them at all. I've also flashed several of my friends phones to VP and they haven't had any problems except for one guy every time he gets drunk the next day I have to rewrite his aaa and ha password (still can't figure that out) but no one has lost their account.
What do I think is happening to these accounts? Nothing I believe these individuals are people/businesses who get paid to flash phones and don't want the secrets out there and this is probably killing there business. People get concerned by problems and start to wonder about that. For instance a few years ago I was working for this small cell phone flashing company and flashing to boost started to kick off. Well we didn't have everything set up like this other company did so when someone came in we had this rumor going on that this guy who had his cell phone since they first came out, lost his number because boost found out and then he went to their shop and threw brick through their window.
Saying somthing like that to a customer we already had wasn't really targeted to him\her. But to any friends of theirs that questioned them about their service believe it or not but people like to talk. Especially about bricks being thrown through windows. I didn't stay long with that company but it's an example.

I hope i took this the wrong way as it is definatley not true. I would suggest you look at some of my posts how I help others all the time if this is the case. I flash many phones, to all carriers including Verizon Prepaid, and I know for a fact that sometimes your account needs reauthenicated. No different from Page Plus resetting the esn......... No scare tactics here, I dont need to write passwords even to verizon prepaid, I can pull them ota with no problem......

I was I've through all of your posts (takes about ten minutes) and your xda repoire at first is to just ask a bunch of questions and then you started to sell yourself as a cell phone flasher. Then you found out how to pull aaa keys and refused to tell anyone and blamed it on cdma workshop not being free. You can still show the process and I'm calling you out on that and the fact your trying to scare people into not going to verizon prepaid. You may fool some people but you don't fool me.
Hmm.. I must have misunderstood the *228 thing in the video. But anyways. Now that I did *228 thing, I'm stuck with the roaming indicator. Does that matter? I plan on flashing another rom and hope it changes it. Also, how does doing *228 affect the phone? It was working fine earlier and I even clocked 3G speeds at 2.7mbps.
Thanks

You can call me out all you want, I have done several phones while members watched and seen the keys pulled in. I have not tried in no way to scare people from verizon prepaid. I flash to them myself, but you are dead wrong if you do not think that a account will need to be reathenicated sometimes. I have nothing to prove to you but only offered a suggestion to the guy having issues (now my comment was seen that way by you, I have no idea) . Anyways good luck to you in your venture as I am way above arguing this with you. No one is fooling anyone here but you..... I don't need to sell myself, proof is in the pudding bro.......

I know your gonna read this because curiousity will bring you back to see my rebuttal. It's how life works. I'm not saying that you can't pull the aaa keys what I'm saying is that you refuse to share the knowledge of how to do it. You made a thread to talk about it but really I believe that you made that thread to make a profit. There is free software to record your screen and there is also hacked software for camtasia there is no excuse not to share especially on xda.
You probably won't respond because you don't want to share this info and pretending like you didn't see this post is probably better than trying to come up with an excuse because there isn't one.
I reflashed the phone again slowly making sure I follow each step of the video and also did the *228 on the phone. After I disable Wifi, I still get "No network connection. No Signal found for mobile networks."
At first I had the LG2 modem and it keep on prompting for a sim card, so I updated it to LJ7. Still no 3G and I keep on getting the roaming message.
I do noticed however when I got to Settings, About device, Status:
Network = Sprint (shouldn't this be Verizon?)
Mobile network type: 1xRTT:6 (CDMA)
User name = [email protected] (shouldn't this be something like my telephone # @vzw.com?)
Mobile network state = disconnected (???)
IMEI =Old one from Sprint (shouldn't this be my Verizon Gusto 2 IMEI?)
Thanks guys for all your help.

OK, let me try to use the MOAR rom instead. The LG2 modem keeps on asking for a sim card. Sprint is CDMA, so hence no sim card.

Hmmm.. I never had a problem with the Sim request. From my understanding, you probably still have the Mobile Network set to LTE. That should be the only reason why it's looking for a Sim Card.
I also noticed a different PRL after activating on Verizon.
