Car charge fixed by 2.1 update - XPERIA X10 Accessories

Hi Everybody, I just would like to notice people that the problem that make us unable to use other power charger than the original is fixed for me with the 2.1 update.
Hope it's not totally uselless for some of you =)
Vilam

I still have that problem. I've two car charges, none of them work after 2.1 update as well

Suprisingly my former CarCharger that SOMETIMES work before works now

As i understood, this is no bug:
The usb-specs say, that charging-cabels have to have a resistens between pin 2 and 3 of max. (i dont now, 100 Ohm or so). So one way to do so is just connect pin 2 and 3 (shortcircuit = 0 Ohm). Sony stays with this specification . So carchargers wont work, when u take a normal datacable, unless they are shortcuircuied itself.
(Sorry for my bad english)

Actually I can see light but it isn't charging. Btw I've the worlds cheapest car usb charger
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

mine started to work now too as of the 2.1 update. This is great. Now I can stream bluetooth music to my deck without killing my battery

Car Charger Problem

The description of WM6 new releases by Faria stated that finaly he solved the annoying car charger disconnection problem.
I think this has been one of the major isues of the Hermes, and until this moment nobody has been able to solve it without tweaking the conectors.
Could somebody explain how to "export" the Faria solution to any other rom (reg change, cab file...).
At the moment I'm with the last Elf rom and don't have time for a new change.
Thanks
(I have made this question on Faria's post but no answer at the moment)
I dont have that problem with my hermes, maybe because Im using the i.Trek semsons automount

Hi.
I solved this problem time ago buying a new car charger for my Hermes, and issue dissapears, no matter wat ROM i use
Not all car charges are the same, take a look and buy one specifically for Hermes...
bear in mind that there are also two different pin configurations for miniUSB connectors.
my father has one miniUSB connector for his GPS and another seemingly identical one for his hermes. one works on the hermes, the other does not.
Thanks for your comments.
I know that there are special chargers that will work, but I use one with 2 USB female connector in wich I can conect at same time an usb+psp double cable (for my Hermes and my Creative Zen Extra) and a single usb cable (for my Leadtek GPS).
I prefer to avoid more gadgets arround, and if there is a free software solution....
I had the same problem. I found a way around it, it's not elegant but it works.
Disconnect and reconnect the battery while the car charges is connected.
It works every time.

There is an easier solution, but not always works. Just connect the hermes while it is in standby.
...
Regarding the real solution announced with the new roms, it should be the chef secret recipe....
I used to suffer from this all the time, now it works 100%. I am running Black 3.5 but I think it was fixed back in Black 2.0 / XDA Live 0.2 time. I am using the same cable I used back then.
The workaround I used to do was, if it didnt start charging, to just soft reset the device and it would charge every time.

im guessing with the faria solution it only sends 500ma to the phone still, but yes working great so far with the Faria rom.
I did have the correct charger cable but then it got mixed up or broken and have not found it since. (it had the correct pins and thus charged at a much faster rate the the usb sync cable rate.
My interest in this is improperly designed devices, such as the Garmin Mobile 20 GPS receiver. It has a method of powering the connected phone/PDA by means of a cable, but it doesn't work on the TyTN (although it does work with a friend's T-Mobile SDA).
The unit clearly gives enough power to charge the TyTN, as connecting it then doing a soft-reset works. I just have no hope that Garmin will fix this issue, even though I have pointed them to one of the larger threads on car chargers, and what has to be done to make them work (I suspect that a new charging cable on their end would be enough to make it work). Thus, a software fix that works with the various ROMs out there would be a good thing.

I would also like to know this.
my sister and father both have hermes i would like to implement this change which has caused my dad MANY porblems without havnig to upgrade him to WM06 and invalidate his warentee.
I bought some cheap no-name USB car charger labled for Motorola Razr I believe... I was confused as to why it seemed to work intermittently. I recently found the answer - you must have the car charger live before you plug it into the Hermes. So I:
1. Plug in the car charger to the cigar lighter
2. Start or turn on the car
3. Then plug it into the Hermes.
Works 100% now.
everyone keeps missing the point...
there are several work arrounds!!!
BUT somone has managed to work out how to get the software ROM to behave properly.. this is better than ANY work arround or special adapter....
this software is what we require. (please!) stop explaining you special connection methods its not what is being asked for...

TP2 make calls by itself ! ! !

My touch pro 2 first started this when I had lots of cab themes like changing the icons and clock. I was listening to music when it started to redial the last person I rang. I thought it was a cab iusse which did this.
So I removed them all and reset it to factory settings.
Its done it about another 5 times since then but not listening to music, while it was sitting on a table.
It was locked with the screen turned off then just started trying to ring the last person I called.
any help from you smart people.
And yes I did do a search on here first
Bri
Does your device only makes these calls when connected to a headset?
I previously bought a cheap headset with 3.5mm headphone adapter. It had a button on it to answer calls. Apparently something was wrong with the button since my device kept thinking the button is constantly being pressed. 2 quick presses on the button instructs the device to dial the last called contact.
My problem went away after I replaced the headset (with another cheap headset albeit!)
I used mine alot as a mp3 so it could be that but my cheap adaptor does not have a redial button like yours. And it did it with a cabled adaptor and one which has no cable. I got mine from ebay those were the only two models i found and I have them both but it did it when I have it pluged into my car charger too.
but I cant think if its done it when its not pluged into anything hmmm
My money is on your (non-HTC-approved )3.5mm adapter and your car charger being the culprit. Somehow, they are instructing your device to dial your last contact.
I'm havning the same problems recently with my TP2.
It *ONLY* happens in my car, when I have it connected to a 3-in-1 mini-usb => headphones/charger adapter. It has no buttons at all, just a passive converter.
It might have to do with the adapater, or maybe with my cars builtin BT functionality. It also only happens if I physically move the phone and put it back next to me or pick it up.

I've had something similar happen with a broken adapter. It was acting like I was pressing the redial button, replacing the adapter stopped the problem.
Also, I've seen the TP2 act strangely near strong magnets. I can unlock mine using the clip on my (now no longer used) case without touching the phone. I also was able to get the camera to start once, I bet I could have caused a redial if I wanted to try.
any ideas of where to get an offical one from? Ive never seen one.

Check this out. But I've seen it as cheap as about 90 HKD (roughly 7 GBP) in stores.
I've actually experienced the same thing but with one difference: I was using a bluetooth stereo headset (Motorola HT 820 to be exact). Any ideas?
oh and when I say car charger I mean a Venturi mini with the offical data cable I got with the phone. Which is conected up by... bluetooth.
This is werid
Okay, seems that my case is the same and the suggested solutions don't really apply in your case. Any ideas everyone?

Maybe Bluetooth is the problem then.
I might check and try to reproduce the problem the next time I'm stuck in traffic again
Will try to see if it's a BT or converter problem.

MHL recommendation

I want to buy mhl cable for my note, the thing is, I'm not familiar with this technology at all, seen a few videos where mhl won't work unless its plugged into a power source, which might be an inconvenience as it requires u to carry the charger.
How is the image quality on the screen? 1080?
Anyone with good experience can tell me a way around this, more into less wires carried around?
and a good mhl cable link to buy from, cos there r thousands out there...
Sorry for such question but this is my first Samsung device (coming from desire HD)
Cheers.

I've yet to receive my Note but coming from a GSII I can answer a few things.
Unfortunately, yes you will need to have a power cable plugged into the MHL adapter, and I don't believe there is any workaround.
The effective resolution on the TV will be mirrored from the phone's native resolution. So a phone that is 480x800 will only mirror that resolution throughout the OS. Only when playing HD content will the phone put out 720/1080(p/i) effective resolution.
The great thing with the Note is that because the native res. is already 1280x800, that will be the res displayed on the TV which will be great for web browsing as that's about an average laptop res.
Any MHL adapter should do. I bought a cheap one from expansys and it works without a hitch. Just read any comments on the product to see if previous buyers said it doesn't work on a recent device.
I bought genuine Samsung from Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LGUDKK/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
It arrived as advertised and works great!
thank you for the feedback , i bought http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0060Z8CYK from amazon uk , it has a discount on it for the time being.
will report once i get it.

I bought a non Samsung one on ebay and am having problems. The connection keeps breaking down and re establishing (the video on the phone continues). I've tried 3 chargers and 2 cables. The MHL adapter gets warm also. I was looking into getting a genuine version from Samsung and looked at Amazon (UK). 1 reviewer had doubts about the authenticity of the device he received, fearing it to be a counterfeit.

I had this issue a couple times on my GSII and I found that using SetCPU to lock the clock speed up to 1GHz+ [depending] helped and basically removed the issue, so give that a try and see if it did anything.
charging through HDMI
isnt the HDMI TV port supposed to charge the device , or provide enough power for the adaptor to work ?
not all models can provide power through HDMI but some newr ones can i suppose ? i read that somewhere so long ago but i cant find it anymore to link as a reference , though im not quite 100% sure of that , ,may be it me saying non-sense ??
cheers

Thanks for the advice. Have just installed setCPU with minimum speed of 1000 but still getting disconnections. Am not sure, however, how to use setCPU so the min CPU speed might not have been saved.

From what I recall, TVs that support MHL will provide the adapter with power so the power cable can be used to charge the phone while plugged into the adapter. I might however, not be 100% correct.

Odd. Have you tried to set SetCPU to performance with the top clock speed at 1.4GHz or higher? That could potentially help.

Hi there !
I've got the same problem than you, 4braid. Connect/disconnect every 1 or 2 minutes while playing a movie. Perhaps is it a software problem ? I use MX Video Player. What is yours ?
Samsung told me that SGS 2 cables were ok and, more than this, that every MHL cable should work. So, do we need to buy a Samsung cable to test ??

Hi, I am using the default player but I don't think it's the problem as the video continues to play on the phone when the TV cuts out. Also, I've tried playing Asphalt HD through the TV and the same thing happens.
I'm gonna try another better HDMI cable and another app, just tu know if it's better. Perhaps will I have to try also with the branded Samsung MHL cable ?
I bought a non-samsung aswell.
Tried it and it works flawlessly on my LG plasma.
Tried several apps and sources.
Hi,
I think I got a clue !
In fact, it's not so easy to explain but I'm gonna try...
I have put my new HDMI cable between my Galaxy Note and my HD tv. I have watched a new movie with the same video player (MX video player) and I notice great results : no disconnections ! I was very excited and tried the movie that I was watching last time with problerms. And, then, no problems this time ! So happy again !
But that's not finished. Listen...
At a moment, it cuts ! And 4 seconds later my phone rings. I answear and watch my movie again. A few minutes later, a new cut ! And 4 seconds later, my phone rings a second time. I don't answear and the movie goes on. 15 seconds later, my movie stops again and my phone ring to show me that I have a message.
It seems that the phone network is not transparent in that case. More, that not only the fact that phone calls stop the MHL transfer (like the camera application do) because, otherwise, the signal should have stopped at the moment of the phone rings and not 4 seconds before. These 4 seconds are the time, for the phone, to switch between Wifi network to 3G network ! And, that's a fact, I was connected with Wifi during time where my MHL connection worked.
I'm not sure of being clear in my explanations but, if you ever put your phone near a amplified device, there's a symptomatic noise every x seconds or minutes when the phone look for a signal on the phone network (something like bzzz bzzz bzzz). Well, I think that each time that event arrives, the MHL link is "broken" for a little time.
To be sure, I tried somethig else : I have disconnected Wifi and used only 3G network and my disconnections returned back frequently ! I have reconnected my phone to Wifi and I have no disconnections problems again !!
So strange, isn't it ??
Perhaps the distance between my phone and my tv plays too ? It seems that a good quality HDMI cable is a good thing too.
Well, 4braid, could you try to use Wifi a short moment (or even cut the phone network by puting your phone in airplane mode) to test and tell me the result ?

Hi manu_katz,
You are a true genius!!!
Switched to flight mode and played a video with no problems (even tried a game).
Cancelled flight mode and signal to TV lost in less than a minute (video continued on phone). After picture returned to TV I called the phone from my landline and as soon as I pressed the last digit of the telephone number the signal was lost and 4 seconds later the phone rang. Also happened when I sent SMS to myself. I suppose this will happen every time the device "phones home". Many thanks for your info. you have saved my from buying a genuine Samsung MHL adaptor.
Great to hear I was right !
Me too, I have seen a movie entirely, yesterday night !
As I said, perhaps is there ways to correct the problem without need of cutting 3G network (like the fact to use a branded cable or the distance between phone and tv) but for now we find the way to use our f*** not branded cable ! Lol !!
Are you able to see the srt subtitles on the tv screen with the mhl cable? I can only see them on the phone screen but not on the tv.

I've encountered that issue too. It's a shame unfortunately, but the only way I've found to get them to work is to use software decoding. It's a downer, but it does work.
I've got a strange problem with my third party cable (similar to this one: http://www.lunashops.co.uk/goods-935.html). It seems like the output is cropped on the top and bottom (so the notification screen and dock are cut off). I've already tried all the aspect ratio settings on both of my TVs (1 HD Ready and 1 Full HD), so that isn't it. Has anyone else experienced this before?

mine does it sometimes when charging, some people say using a different charger will fix it, but it hasn't for me..
saying that, i think its my 'dirty' power supply in my house, its an old house and electrics have a lot of interference, the problem doesn't happen to my phone whilst charging at work for instance.
I've experience this and these are my thoughts on this, although this wasn't specifically for the oneX:
Incompatible charger
-using a different branded charger, class A replicate.
Power supply/plug:
-I can't be sure of this I'm pretty sure every other gadget should have blown up if this is the case
Generally you lose control of your screen I'm thinking this would be hardware faults or just incompatible voltages.
I'd advice you to take your device and charger to the place where you bought it and test it there, or find an electeician friend
on xda for android and mistyping like a boss
I think ill take my charger (the one that came with the phone, but presents the problem when home) to work, and see what happens.
Rather than it being too high a voltage from the plug etc, I think its the interference/noise on the power lines, my speakers (in the same room) have this buzzing sound when using an analog cable, I need to use optical to eliminate the sound. Problem never happened until I moved here, turns out the speakers should be shielded against this (they are z5500) but its on the net that others have the problem also.
All the opinions lead to interference on the power supplys in the building.
Another example in the same house I'm in:
Couldn't run a long 20 meter ish phone cable up the stairs, as the speed of internet deteriorated from 20mbit to about 2mbit. It was fine at my old house with speeds.
I ran an Ethernet cable upstairs instead, just the standard utp, its the twisted pair that stops crosstalk, which I was hoping would eliminate the interference from the power. It worked
Anyway..
This leads me to think its another problem with this phone, as charging any other phone with the same charger, in the same house, same socket even, doesnt present the problem. Hopefully something software is able to fix.

Does the USB C charge + 3.5 Jack splitter work?

Hi guys, I own a Mi5 and I love it, but the battery dies way faster now after a year of heavy use and the screen is a bit broken... So I would like to get a new phone and use my Mi5 as a secondary device. Immediately I thought about the Mi6, but the lack of a 3.5 mm Jack is something that I can't stand... Because I'm used to charge the phkne while listening to music, and that's the reason I'm making this thread
Does the splitter work with the Mi6?
I saw people with the Mi Mix 2 that get it to work with a slow charge (500mA I think...) and the headphones working, I know, it's slow but that would be enough for me, so will it work or has someone tried out it already?
Thank you so much in advance guys, and I apologize if I committed some errors in the text, but english it's not my first language

if you use ide that have 3.5mm and charge ,the charge will be very slow ,it will cost your much time to 100%。quickcharge only cost your little time to 100% ,then you can listen music。
I currently own a Mi6 and bought a splitter to try it out. The splitter works for me, I can play music and charge at the same time there are unfortunately some drawbacks by doing this:
-The cable has no data going trough so fast charge or data transfer will not be a option.
-Even when there is no headphone in the jack it will show that there is a headphone (with microphone) available.
-I could not get the buttons on my headphone to work to control the music.
-I do not know if it is a problem for you but sometimes I will hear some small interference in my headphones when using them, it is not much but could be annoying when really listening to music. This could be a issue with the charger or something I need to research it.
Overall I think it is a good solution and I will be using it in combination with a dock to play some music in my room.
