Why would you want to do that? It is still in BETA stage and battery drainage is completely high....unbelievably high.
If you still want to go with it 2 options:
1 - Buy a Android Phone if you love it so much.
2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=601751
This link will give you the steps - this is what it has to say:
15.01.10 UPDATE NEW*GSM RAPH ONLY: MichyPrima has created a lite WinMo that automatically loads haret from your SD card. It loads pretty quick and i can confirm it works Give it a go if you're tired of waiting for WinMo to load. It now has a boot option so just wait until you see Booting countdown and touch the screen. It will offer 4 options
Reboot, Shutdown, USB mass Storage and Continue Booting Android
Best of Luck
man, can u make a rom based on wm6.5 look like android?

From my experience, the android rom by babijoee is good for daily uses. It's fast, and battery drain is not an issue any more.

I have been following the thread for Android on regular basis and i still see that Batter Drainage is an open issue where the chefs are trying to get a fix. I am sure if you use the Android...it will not last more than 3 hours!

Sorry to tell you that you are wrong. My diamond can use for 8 hrs (normal phone calls and sms, etc) using the latest build. I think you may have missed most of the threads talking about the latest development?
8 hour...sounds nice...would love to try that...you got the link for this build?
in my opinion because of the intense overheating that you can get if u use your phone like a dayli one ( internet ..bla bla bla) , yopu can damage it..
yesterday y was on the android on the net with my diamond and radio 1.13.25.55 the device uverheated and my touch went nuts....was not usable .. even in winmo..changed the rom ... the same..after changing the radio is ok now but i have a strange impresion that something is wrong with it because it overheats even in winmo...so:
thx very much to the guys that port android on our phones and can harddly whait to have it as a stand alone but..:|...for now i am not trying android anymore... this is only my opinion thx
What zimage were you using??? I was very surprised today when I started using this one: http://zimages.googlecode.com/svn/a...sm-android/zImage-modules-20100116_163203.tar
It doesn't run very hot anymore and speed is very good.

Guys I just have a simple question (I'm kinda new to these)

Hey guys I have galaxy w (I bought it 10 or 12 days ago).Don't worry i studied my lesson.I know how to root, flash, install apk etc.
I rooted my phone and installed REM ICS.But i'm not happy with it.Because it has a few problems
In the first place, i want to tell you what i'm looking for.
I just want proper sms app (no mms converting), WORKING gps, menu customization [not by date or title (i'm happy with touchwiz)]
Most important -> goot battery life. That's all folks.
But i can't find a rom that meets my wishes.
Now i'll install rebel rom 3.0.6.
But if you have a recommendation PLEASE let me know.
p.s. : I'm sorry if there are grammar mistakes. Thanks in advance. :good:
CyanogenMod Alpha 8 version should be good to you
but you have the SMS to MMS converter on everyrom (i think) & touchwiz
but normally in options you can adapt it
good batterylife & performance
Or BioHazard has it all (based on cyanogenmod)
just flash the ROM + extra sms file (to get normal sms lay-out) - Biohazard customisation - good batterylife & performance (& touchwiz)
has jellybean 3 features & customisation
EhndroiX is a nice rom based on cyanogenmod
but it has it flaws, batterylife isn't perfect but it's a smooth ROM
it also has touchwiz and Jellybean lay-out
Personally i'm running EhnDroix right now but i'm thinking to switch to cyanogenmod (due to the better batterylife) or biohazard
Now about the GPS function you can use Google Maps / Navigation, you can also download Sygic GPS (look on some forums for a "free" version of it )
then you will have a free offline GPS system with TomTom maps navigation
i hope i helped you out a bit

Ive been using SGW for a lot of time now, when i had the stock rom i used ADW laucher for the menu. As for the battery life, keep 3G turned off or install JuiceDefender, it turns on 3g every X minutes, instead of keeping it on all the time. It also adjusts the brightness. My battery would last nearly 3 days that way with moderate calling.
Hugs.
Also i wonder if there is something wrong with my original samsung charger. When i charge my phone with its original charger, battery drains quickly (%85 in 2.2 hours). But when i charge it with my friend's htc's charger it downs to %97 in 2 hours.Just weird.

As I know Rebel ROM is not coming with a TW launcher, you may try Black Notes Last Page if you wish, it came with a TW launcher, just for your info, in Black Notes, you would have to reboot your phone after running the 99SuperCharger init.d script, as it may cause you unable to receive your message, but it wouldn't really affect you if you don't run the script. Hope it helps.

Are you using the USB cable as charger? That one will be much slower than the charger. For a decent battery life, I would recommend you to use a GB ROM with Juice Defender at this moment, because the battery life for CM9 may be vary from version to version at this moment.
I use its original charger (mini USB).I installed rebel rom it seems like it's okay. But i'm not sure yet.
Ok it sucks more i know it now.SMS problems, slow browsers, performance sucks
Looking for good battery life? Most of the GB roms provide good battery life. Not so sure with ICS roms, right now. If you don't mind using GB rom, i would recommend you MUTANT ROM, not bad.

If you are looking for an economical premises ROM battery GB ROM only the best in my opinion.
I myself have come back to GB after I felt in CM9 b8 only for reasons of battery.
I myself use kezra v4 final ROM, kernel xxlm8. And what you need everything works fine here.

Also, try upgrading baseband. Older baseband might have bugs that made it too aggressive and/or not smart enough to tune power usage.
Back in the CM9 thread, someone posted that he experienced a great boost in battery life after upgrading baseband.
Word of caution: make sure that the newer baseband is compatible with your country's networks.

some info:
Question : Is Ubuntu Touch stable enough for a Daily Driver?
Answer : No, most of the core “Applications” are non-functional . There is also no support for 3G Data
Question : What Devices can Ubuntu Touch Be Ported to?
Answer : As the Ubuntu Touch Preview is simply running in a Cyanogenmod10.1 chroot, theoretically you can port Ubuntu Touch to any device that Cyanogemod 10.1 Supports. Development happened on ICS and eventually moved to JB. Keep in mind that performance may vary. Instructions to port Ubuntu Touch can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
Question : Since this is running in a Cyanogenmod chroot, can it run Native Android Apps?
Answer : No – The Cyanogenmod Fork has been stripped of the Dalvik VM and all other components necessary to run Android Applications. There is a likely possibility that someone will develop a “bluestacks” like emulator to allow android applications to run, but this will most likely not come from the Ubuntu team.
Question : Is dual booting possible?
Answer : Yes, thanks to the effort of the people at XDA-Developers, Dual Booting is possible. With this said, this is not something that the Ubuntu Team has any intentions of officially supporting. While Ubuntu seems to encourage community efforts, they stress that they do not want this to become a feature that the end user will expect to see officially supported. (I bet you all wish you got the 32 GB Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 rather then the 16 GB)
Question : Is the Ubuntu Touch UI using X11 or Wayland?
Answer : None of the Above. Ubuntu Touch is using the same Display Manager that is in use by Android, Display Flinger.
Question : What Kernel is in Use?
Answer : A modified Android Kernel is in use
Question : What about CDMA support?
Answer : Fear Not Sprint and Verizon users, it is being worked on. The Ubuntu Team said that the GSM Radio is the global standard and this was simply where they focused most of their attention as all of the developers had GSM devices.
Question : Will Ubuntu be accepting merge requests for the Cyanogen10.1 sub system?
Answer : Yes, this is encouraged.
Question : Where is the Ubuntu chroot kept in relationship to Android?
Answer : The Ubuntu filesystem and all applications are kept in /data/ubuntu . If you use adb to browse this, you will see a familiar filesystem layout that most Linux users are used to
Question : What Works?
Answer : As this is a Developer Build, dont expect much to work. The items that have been confirmed to work are;
Touchscreen
Sound (over speakers)
Display
Internet Browser
WiFi (No WPS)
Camera (Front and Back)
Video Player
ADB
Screen Brightness Controls
Automatic Brightness
Speech Driven HUD (Yes, it works)
GSM Voice (No APN Settings)
The SideStage Seems to be working
Question : What Does Not Work?
Answer : As this is a developer build, dont expect things to work properly, here are a few things that are not working
3G/4G Data
Audio Out via Headphones
HDMI
Bluetooth
Most Applications and Menus
Charging Indicator
Software Center (Note : You can install simple shell applications via apt-get install … once inside the chroot)
Most applications are placeholders
MMS
CDMA Connections
SIM Storage
Auto Rotation (Or any rotation for that matter)
Random Crashes when swiping
Notifications (All of them are placeholders)
Most Applications that do function are web apps like m.gmail.com.
NFC

If your device is in the CM10.1 device tree and can run CM10.1, you too can port Ubuntu Touch to your device relatively easily.

Now we just need a Developer that is able to Port it to our Device..
I know there are Many things that wont work but in Future they maybe will so it would be awesome to see a Ubuntu Touch build for Ancora
I hope that a Developer is reading this and maybe my wish will be realised..

[Q&A] [ROM] [4.4.4] ParanoidAndroid 4+

Q&A for [ROM] [4.4.4] ParanoidAndroid 4+
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
beta 4 generally works fine but I have 2 issues:
-I constantly get a message that a number which I was calling is back accessible (normally I get only one, but that might be my provider's fault).
-I have an impression that battery drain is significantly higher than in beta 3, both with DSB disabled and enabled.
Am I the only one?
All in all, it might be just my imagination but I'm sure about is that this ROM is absolutely great.
Thanks, SuperHanss! (and, of course, PA team)
---------- Post added at 09:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:14 PM ----------
Also, SuperHanss, is there a chance that you will keep supporting Odin on Android L? I would be so happy if you would.
Sorry for the OT and thanks in advance!

I've never come across the first issue so it could well be provider related.
There are many varying factors when it comes to battery life. This might provide more information on what's causing it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en_GB
Android L is a maybe. There's no way of knowing if/how well it will run until the source is released. I don't see why not though, the Z and ZL aren't exactly ageing devices.

Performance
Hi Guys and SuperHanss,
may sound like a dumb question but I'm pondering on buying a Samung Galaxy S4 or S5 because I really like their performance and "snappiness" (apps open right away when you click them).
At the moment I own a Sony Xperia ZL and generally I'm relatively content with it but it lacks the "snappiness" of the smartphones mentioned above. It needs noticeable 1-3 secs to open apps after clicking them.
It just feels as if the performance of the ZL is not good enough, but based on the specs I would say it's a good device.
So is the performance of the ParanoidAndroid Rom for the ZL better?
I just want to know before flashing, because otherwise I will sell my phone und buy a Samsung one.
Can anyone (maybe even someone with a Samsung S4 or S5) share his/her experiences with me?
With the ParanoidAndroid Rom installed on my Xperia ZL will it have a performance (and stability) similar or near to the Samsung S4 or S5?
I appreciate all answers
Cant use mobile data 3g
my device can use 3g in sometimes it can use 5-10secs then it off 5-10secs and on again , how to fix this tell me pls:'(
Cant use mobile data, too

I also got the problem with mobile data.
From time to time it's there for 1 second or 2, then it just goes away.
I already tried setting the APN and Provider, but it didn't work at all...
Please help!

still has support?
do we get updates? or nightlies? been trying this for 3 days no updates or nightlies in my updater
Can you do anything about battery drain when signal is poor? It is always higher, but on stock it was bearable and on PA it's sometimes like 20-30% per hour, even when I'm not doing anything.
Also (not fully PA related), refering to your post in Yuga thread I assume Lollipop AOSP build will be skipped and you will release only PA build (hopefully for ZL too!)?
Thanks
P.S. @marc2777
There are no nightlies for PA, releases are usually weekly but they're not assured. Latest update for legacy devices was a few weeks ago, because whole team is working on Lollipop
battery life, high temperature.
Someone is having problems with battery life using Paranoid Android 4.6 beta5 on Xperia ZL ??
I did a fresh install of the latest version and am having problems with battery and temperature, the phone gets very hot even when I'm doing basic things like web browsing and using whatsapp.
I searched the PA topic for a similar case but not found anything, anyone have any idea what it might be?
when I talk of bad battery life, say something around 8 hours with 2 hours screen on with the auto brightness, 3G (lte off), GPS off, and regular use (email, whatsapp, web browsing, facebook)
Battery drain and mobile data issue
As I mentioned before I don't get any stable signal on mobile data.
From my experience this might connected to the battery drain issue. As I disabled mobile data and used WIFI instead (because let's be honest -- unstable mobile data is the worst thing ever), my battery drain was decreased by magnitudes.
Furthermore my ZL didn't get hot anymore.
We are talking about charging my smartphone twice a day before and charging it every two days after.

Time for me to use a new kernel?

Hello, and thank you for stopping by!
I have a Nexus 7 (2013 - flo) that I've been using for years now, but I haven't had much success in finding an Android 8/9 ROM that I can see myself using (as my daily driver). A large part of it has to do with the fact that I'm used to having Quanta kernel. It has allowed for some invaluable conveniences over the years (like using my tablet as a keyboard and mouse, undervolting for better battery life and thermals, etc.), and I don't know of any ROMs beyond Android 7.X that support use of this kernel. If I ever upgrade, I'll need to get used to ElementalX and other newer kernels. I need a suggestion - what modern kernel allows for the most user-defined control over the device? Can Quanta kernel be used with (or built for) newer versions of Android (ROMs beyond Android 7)? I understand that these questions may seem trivial to you, but I've been out-of-the-loop for a while (due to college). Your assistance in this would be greatly appreciated, as I attempt yet another transition to Android 8/9...
Just letting you all know - this thread's still open. I'd appreciate any help I can get...
