[Q] HTC Location (Navigation) Licencing - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Anybody know how licensing is handled in the location app in desire HD? For example I have a vodafone branded desire HD and wanting to flash to one of the custom ROM will I loose this license? or I need to do a backup of the location app too make sure I still have the license.
Thanks

The locations app is stored on your sd card along with the maps and licence. If you need to reinstall license for some reason you can open locations, menu, upgrade, menu, sync license.

Thank's that's exactly what I'm looking for

Hello,
I can add that, I talk on the phone to HTC support and that "apparently" that's right, everything is stored on the SD card.
Does someone really test? because I do not want to lose the license purchased during an update, for example ...
However, little questions:
- If you make a copy of the file from the SD card do you think if one day we change phone (to buy another HTC) HTC Locations will work with this copy ?
- Do you know what "code sharing" on HTC Locations ?
Thank you all.

HTC uses the IMEI to validate de HTC Locations license.
I bought the safety camera license. I changed my phone from a HTC Desire HD to a HTC Sensation. I contacted HTC Support and they said that i have to buy again. It is not possible to change my license to my new phone.

Official Igo 8.3.2.87762

Hi,
i have just received this Igo package but when when i start program all I see is the blue start up screen and the words initializing.
then it just shuts down, when I restart the application it mentions that it is already running and I need to wait a fes seconds or do a soft reset.
The application will only quit with a soft reset.
Any suggestions?

igo8 first boot
the first time you install the sd card and run it can take 3 to 5 mins and longer to start on its fisrt install.
after that its not so bad untill you add new speed camra database.
just give it some time to load if after 10 mins it dont start then some thing is not right.

Hi,
just a quick update. I have emailed several times with Naviextras and have even send the original sd card back for a check (turned out te be just fine). The problem in short is foloowing:
- if I install the original 4GB card the program does not start automatically. Searching for the card using the Windows explorer option is not possible. Looks to me like my phone does recognize the card.
- If I copy the 4gb cards content to a 8gb card and install it into the phone, hte programm immediately starts. after the 2577 installation is done I can see the Igo icon in the today screen but when I tap it, it freezes on the blue igo screen with the words "Initi Appli". Naviextras support could not yet find a solution and I am now trying to check with HTC if there might be a ROM update that I am missing. I found a ROM update on their website but cannot dowload it onto my phone.
any suggestions, anyone?
Hi there,
and the story contious.
My Igo still does not work on my HTC Touch HD. These are the steps I have taken. Maybe someone has an idea that can help me out?
- Bought the official software, it is a 4gb card
- tried to install it but no luck. The Widnows explorer cannot find the card at all.
- Emailed Naviextras for their support
- Tried changing the sys.txt, no luck
- Card was sent back to Naviextras, they checked hte card but it was fine according to them
- On their request, copied the content of the card to my computer and onto another micro sd card (8 gb). It was found but with the above mentioned problem
- Naviextras suggested to contact HTC
- It turns out that my phone is a Vodafone branded phone and they re-directed me to Vodafone
- A lot of mailing between me, HTC, vodafone but wiht no luck
( I even got the suggestion to format the original card)
I have tried the same original card on a HTC MDA Compact V ( it is a month old) and the card was immediately recognized.
I am currently still trying to find a solution.
Any suggestions anyone? HTC also infomred me that there is a ROM update but that I cannot download onto my phone due to the fact that it is Vodafone branded.
Help anyone, please?

Hi, tried it but Vodafone is refusing to help me with it. There is even a "radio silence"from their side ( and I am emailing them a lot.)
HTC has already offered to help me to get the ROM update on my phone if Vodafone still refuses to help me out.
But in the mean time the card still does not work. The strange thing is that a cracked version of the software works fine ( but I cannot receive updates) and the official one does not work.
My last guess would be that it has to do with the simlock that is currently still on the phone.
Story continious (as both HTC and Naviextras would like to know what happenend).
and as promissed. I contacted vodafone and it took me quite some time to make them understand my problem. The original card works fine on:
- t-mobile brnaded HTC MDA V
- KPN Samsung Qwerty
- Telfort branded HTC Touch HD
I finally managed to get vodafone ot look inot it and their plain and simple answer is use TOMTOM. The software from Igo is not compatible with the vodafone software on this HTC and I should somehow see how ot upgrade the rom myself. The guarentee however would not disappear as everyone seems to be doing this?????
So finally, after almost 5 months Vodafone admits that they have somehow locked their software so it does not run with other navigation softwares except the ones they choose.
But I was wondering, if I unlock the SIM code, could the issue then be solved? I have no idea what this simlock stuff does.

[Q] Desire Root Problem -- Please Help!

hello. has anyone seen this error before? "internal error: am reported error starting service" i'm using unrevoked 3.3 on an htc desire (running 2.1 i believe on US Cellular). unrevoked identifies the device, runs through some steps, reboots the device and then pops up that error.
I tried to root my dad's Desire (on US Cellular as well) using Unrevoked3 and had the same problem as the person above me. I got that same error, at the same time as this person did. Does anyone know why this happened?
solution
I think this happened because I changed the default install location for apps to sd card. I suspect this causes the unrevoked service (called "zyspkloit") to be installed to SD. As the SD card is unavailable immediately after boot, the service is unable to start.
The solution that worked for me:
1. Set your default app install location to "phone"
2. Use "manage applications" to uninstall "zyspkloit"
3. Re-run unrevoked

Hi, thank you for your solution. I'm sorry I have little knowledge about Android cos I start to tweak my desire four days ago.
My solution is to use unrevoked provided in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8729697&postcount=8
(in 'download' link)
I can confirm this version works on my UK O2 branded Desire, although I don't know why.
Hope it works in your devices.

This doesn't work, as I'm running 2.1 which doesn't allow you to install applications to the SD card anyway. The default location is the internal memory. If I'm missing something, please give me the path to find and change this... i.e. "home--menu--settings--you're doing it wrong bozo--save"

[Q] HTC Sync Files - Questions ??

Hi All,
I am hoping someone here can gimme a pointer or two on the issue I am seeing :
I have a Desire HD and I am using HTC sync version 3.0.5551 , the only things I sycn are contacts and calendar on my laptop, I don't have Route66 or any TomTom products installed on the phone but in the following folder I have Route66 related files
C:\Users\my_username\AppData\Local\Htc
The files there are:
R66Api.log,
ROUTE66Engine.log,
ROUTE66Engine.log.0000
and ROUTE66UIPreferences.xml,
this sort of thing normally doesn't bother me but the ROUTE66Engine.log file has grown to over 10GB in size on more than one occassion (32Gb last weekend) and the only way I can delete it is to stop all HTC services and then delete the files.
Once I start the HTC services again these files re-appear.
Again I don't have any mapping software on the phone, does anyone have any idea's as to why these files keep appearing on my laptop, ( I don't sync the phone with any other PC's)
The phone is on the Stock ROM as well.
Thanks in advance.
Since posting this question earlier today the log file was at 4.6Gb now it's over 9gb.. anyone seen this before?
i have an evo3d and im having the exact same problem.
first i thought i had a spyware or smt. but then discovered that those log files are gobblin down 38GBs of my precious SSD.
i too do not have route66 installed.
im running a kingcobra rom
s-off, rooted.. (not that i think it has anything to do with the phone)
i think its some kind of a bug in htc sync software.. anyone else having the same problem?.. anyone have a solution?
i think everytime it syncs everything again wich makes a lot of space

[Q] Cant play Gameloft HD games, Gameloft dont allow me

Hi, i have installed some Gameloft HD games and when I start them, its says: Your phone dont support this game, please ask for refund.
I guess that should be any fix for this, because i think HTC Desire should support them, if anyone know the fix would be apreciated.
Thanks
Nobody knows a fix for playing this games? I thougth that someone would know...
In your build.prop file, ensure it says ro.product.model=HTC Desire. (you can also check at setting>about phone>phone identity>phone number). What Rom are you using?

Hi! I am using CyanogenMod 7.1, the problem is that I have an HTC Desire and its supposed that this phone cant run the game so Gameloft dont allow to play it, i guess that changing how they see the phone and making it look like an HTC desire S (for example) then we will be able to play it.
But i dont know where to do it or what change or if someone found a fix for this already.

Use a file explorer that can access root folders (such as root explorer) and edit the build.prop file found in /system. Replace these lines (might be different)
ro.product.model=HTC Desire
ro.product.brand=htc
ro.product.name=htc_bravo
ro.product.device=bravo
ro.product.board=bravo
With this,
ro.product.model=HTC Desire S
ro.product.brand=htc
ro.product.name=htc_saga
ro.product.device=saga
ro.product.board=saga
After that, reboot and you should be able to download the game data. Note that this may not work and might have side effects. So a nandroid is recommended. (or at least, save the original build.prop file somewhere)
Also, why not just download the game data (just google the game name and add Sd data or game data behind it)? Then its just a matter or placing it in the correct location.

HTC trasfer tool program

Hi there
I have recently switch my old HTC One S with an HTC One M9+ Supreme camera edition and I have used the HTC transfer tool program (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.dnatransfer.legacy&hl=it) to send my old data on the One S to the One M9+ SC.
Anyway it seem to me that the tool generated a problem, as you can see here from a file manager screen:
basically there are 2 folder with insde the exact same stuff and, as file manager hd state, they both occupied 16Gb. Anyway I don't know if this is accurate. Any suggestions?
