[Q] XAP access - Windows Phone 7 General

Does anyone know of a way to access or download a XAP downloaded from the Marketplace on to a device.
I was unable to find any XAP files in the Zune backup directories. Has anyone had any luck with this?
Thanks

If you put your phone in WiFi mode, you can use wireshark (possibly along with Cain and Abel) to sniff the connection when you are downloading it. That's what Hounsell did over in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820455&page=3

That feature was removed a couple of days ago when a website was linking people directly to the files of the zune marketplace. This was actually a feature for developers to use so they could share the app with other testers, but since it was abused it was removed. Also downloading the xap files is only half the battle you need to have a developer unlocked phone inorder to load the app and run it on your phone.

When you install WP7 bits, you will have a start menu folder called "Windows Phone Developer Tools". There are 3 programs listed: "Application Deployment", "Windows Phone 7 Emulator" and "Windows Phone Developer Registration". After registering your phone you be able to upload XAP even on retail device. At least I've tested recently arrived AT&T's HTС Surround.

To register your phone, you'll need a WP Developer Account, so yes. You will need a developer-unlocked Phone
I think you're confused between a Developer Phone (ie, one that's pre-release for development purposes) and a Developer-unlocked Phone (one that's retail, but has been unlocked with a developer account so that it can run unsigned, non-marketplace code).

U mean the problem is in the $99 to become a developer? ;-) It's not a real problem, at least for that forum members, I think so...

Woaw, glad it's in the correct forum now
So, there is no app to install a xap without going thru marketplace!?!

[Q] Anyone got the 7003 build installer

Hi,
I have a samsung developer phone, but the installed build is 6419. I don't have direct access to the connect directory, so I was wondering if anyone has the latest installable build? Pst or post a reply if you got any info
Just take the image from THIS.
How can I use that to flash the phone?
You probably need a driver + some weird booting key-press combination on the phone (it changes from phone to phone) before you can do it
It's the Samsung developer phone, no idea what is used to flash that one.
hello,
I have a similar question. I am using a developer build htc spark with a 6527 build version.
Noticing lately many of the new apps not installing or working correctly. Im pretty sure its the old build version. Any help updating to the current prod version is appreciated.
Unfortunately dont have access to connect either.
thank you
I'm guessing y'all are really developers then???

every 7720 stock rom has a STKApplication.xap,it's disabled to install by MS and it doesn't work on HTC Mozart.maybe ansar make it works
The attached xap is from my OMNIA 7. I patched the file and could install it (Settings menu) but it doesn´t run.
On device I cannot install it via provxml.
Ansar wrote that he could install it on ISV Beta, so maybe it doesn´t work with the final build.
Any idea ?
Maybe somebody with ISV Beta build could try if the .xap works....
after install on my device, i cannot find it in my settings using focus
The past 3-4 threads you created you announced discoveries that everyone has been waiting for but you haven't released anything yet.
I'm starting to not believe you.
If you did make all these discoveries why not share them with everyone?
And I'm not hating on you or trying to disrespect you.

I don´t see any reason why you should start not to believe him.
For sure he has his reasons why he is posting that way....
What does this app do and the purpose of it.
can anyone confirm it works?
i installe on my mango but didnt work.
The app is (from what I found out on a Radar in the T-Mobile shop) a app that give carriers the opportunity to deliver their own code to the phone. This could e.g. be biling info or mobile ticketing or so - similar to the Features that were in Windows Mobile.
So the question is what we can do with that app...
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
its SIM card application, which brings more service by provider. its very populer and common in asia especially for mobile banking service.
App installs but nothing appears on the device. How-to launch it? HD7 @ Mango here.
It runs on the Radar, made some pics cant upload them atm
why can't i see the links any help?

Tom XAP Author: Change request

(The original thread has too many pages, and would likely go unnoticed.)
We, in Chevron support land, keep receiving the same complaints over and over again re: Tom XAP Installer. Users are attempting to use Tom XAP Installer (v1.2) to deploy interop-required XAPs and they're receiving the misleading error message:
- Please Make sure your phone was unlocked!
- Please Make sure you connected device to PC and Zune lauched
Try again ?

We'd appreciate if you added code to detect 0x81030120 and show a proper error message. It should say something like:
Your phone is not "interop unlocked", which this XAP requires [...] Check out this thread on XDA for more information.

Thanks.
Why not just tell people to use the official MS deployment tool?
I always use the Ms original tool , or a private one from one here at xda.

which one do you use. Actually those who wants to sideload should have a few xap installer apps in their pc then they will know whether it's the chevron unlock or their installer that has a problem>I know that installer has some pros and cons.

I use the MS one and a closed beta from ultrashot (ultrashot one isn't online and maybe never will so don't ask him, if he wants to release he will )
no the problem is @ tom xap sideloader , and I didn't see him here for a long time @ the wp forums

For Chevron unlocked ($9) devices

For those who have unlocked their device through 9$ Chevron, i just found a way to find the list of homebrew apps installed! You can use Windows Phone Power tools.
Download from here
Download and install, Connect the device and go to 'apps' tab.. You can find the list of homebrew apps installed.
Note: Mods, if this information is not posted in appropriate section, pls move so.
Moved To WP7 General
Information posts go in the general section
A) This isn't specific to Chevron Labs ($9) unlock, or any other kind. You can do this with anything from WindowBreak to the official AppHub developer account registration tool's unlock.
B) Did you even do a trivial check for whether WP Power Tools was already posted about on this forum? It's a fairly well-known app.
