[Q] HTC Inc vibrates but won't boot after unrooting - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted then unrooted my phone. Or else I thought I unrooted it and the first time I tried to boot back up it did nothing. I tried popping the batt out and that didn't work. Can't boot to "boot up" menu by hitting power and volume down either.
Thoughts?

What was the process you took to unroot it? That will help us figure out what may have went wrong.

root problem
I downloaded
PB31IMG.zip
I copied the zip file to my SD card and booted with power and down volume. Selected update then when it was supposed to restart it did nothing.

OH F*** did you check the md5

Where did you get it from? Im willing to bet you have an SLCD and you downgraded to 2.1

I'm sorry I don't know what MD5 is. I'm a novice at this. I can't put the website on the blog here until after the 8th post I believe to prevent spam.

Still won't let me put in the link but it was from a megashares site. I did read a bit about SLCD bricking. Yikes.

What is the site that led you to this DL link??

I can tell you thats exactly what you did. You can run the RUU or flash the correct PB31IMG through hboot blindly
Correct PB31IMG: http://dougpiston.com/files/RUU/bui...and-2.15.00.07.28-hboot-0.92.0000_PB31IMG.zip
RUU: http://dougpiston.com/files/RUU/RUU...4k_NV_1.70_PRL58006_release_152016_signed.exe
You'll need to install HTC sync to run the RUU.

That would be awesome. When you get a moment if you could provide the link that would be great. In the meantime, I'll charge my bb pearl when I get home. No joke...that's my backup phone.

I forgot the mention that I formated my sd card to FAT32 prior to moving the unroot zip file there.

I googled "HTC Incredible unroot" and it was a few links down.

Ok,
I got the RUU file and I do have HTC Sync on my computer. I'm assuming I need to reformat my SD card prior to doing anything else? After that I'm lost as to the step by step.
RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.26.605.1_Radio_2.15.00.07.28_2k4k_NV_1.70_PRL58006_release_152016_signed.exe

^^with the RUU it's pretty much this
1. have more than 30% battery
2. DO NOT UNPLUG AFTER IT HAS STARTED
3. run the RUU and follow the instructions
4. hopefully have a working Incredible instead of an Incredible Paperweight
( I did the same thing as you with my first Inc so I know )
EDIT: I see no need to format the SD card again, the phone can use it just fine on FAT32

Download and install HTC sync on to your pc. Then plug in phone to PC and run the RUU

All,
Boom! It works. I'm very grateful for your help. I ran the RUU, which went for about 5-10 min. I hit the power button and it works. Genius.

[Q] RUU Help!!!

I am finally attempting the leaked OTA update. I download the PB31IMG.zip and copy it to the root of my sd card. I power off the phone and hold power+vol down. When the hboot runs it says invalid or missing file and returns to the selection screen. Ive tried this a million times and ive searched the forums and there is slight mention of this problem but no detailed explanation on how to get this to work. Do I need to reinstall HTC Sync and uninstall UnrEVOked from my PC. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm sure you did this, but have you formatted your SD card lately? That would be my first step, then put the file back on it and try again.

As long as you can power the phone on and your battery is charged up you can return to stock. You just need to run the unrevoked S on tool, which you flash in recovery. That will turn S on. After that, you just need to run an ruu. You can download an ruu as a .exe, and run it from your computer, or you can download it as a PC36IMG, and put it on your sd card, then run it from the bootloader. Once you complete those steps, you will be back to stock, unrooted. Just like you took it out of the box.

Download the unrevoked forever S on zip that I attatched. You want to put that on the main directory of your sd card. Then boot to recovery, (i'm not sure which recovery you use, but either will be similar) shutting your phone off, and then holding your power button and volume down button together, until you get to the bootloader screen. Once at the bootloader, select recovery (using volume buttons to navigate, power button to select). Once in recovery, select 'flash zip from sd card', or 'install zip from sd card'. Then choose the unrevoked forever s on zip. Flash it. That will/should turn s on. Once it flashes, turn the phone off, and boot back to the bootloader. Confirm that it says Ship S on, at the top of your bootloader. If so, you can proceed to the next step. Download the newest PC36IMG.zip from the link I attatched (3.70 software). Place the zip on the main directory of your sd card, and make sure that it's named exactly PC36IMG (capitals matter, no lower case). Once it's on the main directory of your sd card, power your phone down, and boot to the bootloader. This time, it should find the PC36IMG, scan it, and after a short while ask you to update. You select Volume up to say yes. That should complete successfully. Be sure not to touch the phone when it's doing that, it may reboot once or twice, and you'll see some 'different' screens. Just let it finish. Once it's done, reboot, and you should boot into a stock, unrooted rom.

Download this file PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2 .15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip (202.01 MB) and rename it PC36IMG.zip then place it on the root of your SD card. If another file with that name is already present, move that file to a folder.
Anyway, shutdown your EVO. Enter the bootloader screen by pressing the down volume button while also pressing the power button. When your EVO starts, you will enter the bootloader screen. There will be a short pause followed by a few lines of text scrolling on the screen. The PC36IMG.zip file will be AUTOMATICALLY DETECTED and you will be prompted to install. Follow the prompts to install. Afterwards, reboot. Be patient. You will appear to hang at the a screen with arrows as well as at the white HTC screen. BE PATIENT. If you're booted into recovery. No problem. Simply select reboot and be patient. After some time has passed, you will enter the homescreen and see the screens you saw when you first purchased your EVO.

If you are using Windows to rename the file, you don't want to add the .zip The reason is because the .zip is already there, Windows just hides it on ya. Name it in all capitals PC36IMG. If you add the .zip, when using windows, what you really end up with an improperly named file, that looks like this: PC36IMG.zip.zip.
If the file is named correctly, and is on the main directory of your sd card (not in any folders, just on the main directory of the card), then the bootloader will scan the card, find the file, and ask you to update. So just check how it's named, and it's location, then try again.
If you've already confirmed that the file is on the main directory of your sd card, and that it's definitely named correctly, and it's all capital letters, then it's possible you got a bad download. You can check the md5 sum. Also, make sure that the file is the correct size. Compare from where you downloaded it, it should tell you the file size. Then check your actual file size. You could just try redownloading it, and trying again
Did you get it to work?

Please Help - Bricked Phone?

I downloaded an and flashed an Incredible Rom and I have an HTC Evo.
It is now stuck at the HTC screen, and when I boot into recovery mode, and go to "recovery" it just takes me to Fastboot USB."
Usually it would take me to I believe Clockwork recovery?
Is there any chance you guys can help me or point me in the right direction =/
I really hope I didn't brick me phone. I've been searching online for hours and can't find anything that works. Even downloading the android-usb-driver.zip
I figure as long as I can get into Clockwork recovery or somehow read my SD card from my Phone I can just flash something else to fix it? I can't seem to find a way to do that though =/
Thank you for helping this moron in advance
First off you are not bricked ( take a deep breath) now since you can go into the bootloader you are going to flash clockworkmod from the bootloader look for his thread and download it
evo on cm7
Thank you for your prompt reply.
The thing is, I don't know how to Flash clockword mod from Bootloader. I know I have all the files on my SD card, since I've been rooted for a while and have flashed other roms, I just don't know how to access and flash it. Even if I did not have the file (which I believe I do,) I wouldn't know how to get it onto the SD card and flash it.
Thanks for all your help
PS, it has S -OFF.
Please someone help i'm freaking out here.
Calm down, are you holding volume down and power when you turn the phone on?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
pull your card, if you have a card reader, put the pc36img for Amon Ra on the root of yo sdcard, put it in the phone, boot up by holding power and vol down at the same time, you'll go to bootloader. it'll scan, find the pc36img (which must be named PC36IMG.ZIP) and ask if you want to update, select yes, then it'll install recovery.
You can do a search for dougjamal. he has a link to the Amon Ra file in his signature, so find one of his posts
Thanks HipKat!
My friend is coming with his Galaxy S. I'll just put my USB in his phone, download the file to the SD card, pop it back into mine, and it should work, right?
THank you so much.
Can I message you for further help?
LMK how I can use the "Thanks" button. Still somewhat new to this.
I'm at work, so I can't stay on here. That dougjamal guy is really good and has links in his sig for a lot of important files.
IF the AR ps36img file doesn't work, you may have to run the RUU and start over fro mstock, and he has a link to the RUU files in his signature, too. just make sure you use the one for your device in the same way as I described the Amon Ra file, then you'll have to re-root.
ALSO, if you used unrEVOked to root your phone, go to their site and get the s-off tool and run that from recovery, if you're able to get to recovery before you run RUU (I doubt you have to run RUU though. I'm thinking recovery should work for you)
If you still need help you can pm me for it.

Bricked HTC desire :( Please help

I got my phone today which is on t-mobile and went ahead and rooted it and s-offed it, i unlocked the network with HTC_Desire_Unlock_v0.9.5 and all seemed ok until i tried to install a custom rom from my memory card through CWM, but it would not let me it just went to a black screen.
So i downloaded a RUU file called RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122755
I ran the file and it started to install so i thought, it then came up with an error saying something like wrong version.so i turned of my phone and switched it back on and nothing, i cant even get into hboot or recovery
Please can someone help me out as i am a noob at this

Its possible you haven't done much research.
1) Maybe in recovery, if you pressed the power button to flash a rom, you would find it switched off the screen. Pressing power again (if this was the case) would turn the back on. You could then use trackball to select
2) RUU's starting 1.x are Eclair Roms. They more often than not do not support SLCD screens so this could have given you an SLCD Brick.
If you get wrong version, it hasn't flashed anything at that time so the RUU shouldn't have broken anything, although now you are getting USB errors, sounds like you needed to do the USB brick fix
You say when you try to get into hboot, you get nothing? define nothing clearly please? Have you removed the battery at all since any of this?
People, please understand what it is you are doing before doing it. If you dont understand something, ask before doing it. If I am right about the above, nearly bricking a phone because the wrong button was pressed in recovery has to be about the most extreme case of this sort of thing I have seen.
Yes i have removed the battery and tried to get hboot but nothing
So does this mean i am goosed then?
What do you mean nothing? does it vibrate? Please go into detail
Please can you guide me to the correct stock rom for my phone? it is on t-mobile UK?
The phone now says Android bootloader interface in device manager
Could you also tell me how to do the usb brick fix?
Yes it vibrates once and thats it.
It also vibrates once when i plug in the usb
Im not telling you anything unless you answer my questions. Sorry to be brutal, but you're not helping yourself here
Edit, Thank you.
It still looks like an SLCD brick to me. I can't for the life of me figure out how if it got wrong bootloader version though...

Ok, lets take our time with this, I dont think tonight is our night as shipped roms appears to be down so we can't necessarily get the latest TMO RUU from there. Also it may not be the latest.

OK well you have the most important one that we need. Wit a card reader we can make a goldcard.
Follow the below link to make a goldcard using your reader. You need to format the card, so ensure you back it up first.
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...aq-rooting-updated-10th-august-2011-a.html#16
Wait a second for it to jump to the right point of the thread.
Incase I am not around for the entirety of this, here is what we are doing.
1) making a gold card
2) Downloading an unbranded RUU 2.28.405.5
3) Booting to fastboot and trying to run the RUU
If that fails, we are going to have to try the PB99IMG.zip method for the same rom, blind.
Get on with the goldcard and come back when you're done. Use this link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20471345/SUroot/Tools/PC/GoldCard Tool.rar to download the actual goldcard tool

Need Help to unbrick verizon desire 526 (htcd100lvw)

I'm pretty new at this. Was just given this phone, was going to do the update from HTC Sync, which I have since realized I shouldnt have done anyway, the phone got disconnected during the update and is now bricked. I can hold the volume button and power and get to the htc download mode. When I press reboot to bootloader, the boot to recovery mode it shows an exclamation point in an upside down triangle.
I've searched for hours trying to find a way to reflash the factory firmware and am not having any luck. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Download the RUU and flash it
Thats my problem, where do I get it?

You can also read through that thread of mine to unlock your bootloader and root the phone.
Heres a direct link to the RUU.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bd2u64...y4/0PM3IMG.zip
Unzip the download.
Copy the 0PM3IMG.zip that is inside to a SD Card.
Put the sdcard in the phone.
Boot the phonr into download mode.
Hit volume up key to flash the ruu.
You will most likely need to do it 2 times.
Possibly more. If the phone reboots without flashing everything do it again.
You will see when it flashes system files. If it flashes system it is good to go.
Reboot the phone.

If I remember right, I booted to fastboot and typed 'fastboot oem RebootRuu' (without quotes) to get to the RUU flashing fastboot partition, then I flashed the smaller hboot ruu zip first, and the other large ruu 2nd.
I used the file downloaded by htc sync manager and cancelled the software update before it finished decompressing the archive.
I sold the one I was using but I have another at the house. I need to order a battery and screen for it and then I'll record a step by step of my method. Might be a week or so
(Sorry for the edits; I forgot the quote)
Thank you. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Well, I still haven't ordered anything for it. Taxes are coming back late, so I'm flat broke, but I haven't forgot about you. I remember it taking me a few tries to get the order just right, but once I figured it out the phone updated like butter. I had ended up soft-bricking it using the bootloader unlock method provided by @BigCountry907.
Have you gone back and tried it again? A lot of times I'll put a phone up in the box and come back to it and have it done in minutes if I just leave it alone for a while.
Will download zip file again and try it again. You never know. Can't hurt!
Any direction as to how to flash my phone if it keeps failing with my previously stated errors? I think it has a virus and it is acting possessed and generally driving me crazy. Thanks in advance!
