Need Help to unbrick verizon desire 526 (htcd100lvw) - HTC Desire 526

I'm pretty new at this. Was just given this phone, was going to do the update from HTC Sync, which I have since realized I shouldnt have done anyway, the phone got disconnected during the update and is now bricked. I can hold the volume button and power and get to the htc download mode. When I press reboot to bootloader, the boot to recovery mode it shows an exclamation point in an upside down triangle.
I've searched for hours trying to find a way to reflash the factory firmware and am not having any luck. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Download the RUU and flash it

Thats my problem, where do I get it?

I'd really appreciate any help. I've got no phone right now, lol.

The RUU attached to this post should work beautifully for you.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-526/general/verizon-htc-desire-526-boot-loader-root-t3587118
You can also read through that thread of mine to unlock your bootloader and root the phone.
Heres a direct link to the RUU.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bd2u64...y4/0PM3IMG.zip
Unzip the download.
Copy the 0PM3IMG.zip that is inside to a SD Card.
Put the sdcard in the phone.
Boot the phonr into download mode.
Hit volume up key to flash the ruu.
You will most likely need to do it 2 times.
Possibly more. If the phone reboots without flashing everything do it again.
You will see when it flashes system files. If it flashes system it is good to go.
Reboot the phone.
Enjoy the Fresh Out of the Box phone.
Please hit the thanks button.

@deernet Did what @BigCountry907 shared help you fix your phone?

It was a copy of the factory RUU. Rom Update Utility.
HTC way of running an update from the sd
Most of the time you can find them.

I am having the same problem. I followed your directions exactly, but I receive a failed message. I've tried several times without success. Is there any thing else I can try?

I also received a failed message -2,19. Any help would be appreciated. Wondering if maybe the zip is just corrupted as I downloaded it with ADM?

If I remember right, I booted to fastboot and typed 'fastboot oem RebootRuu' (without quotes) to get to the RUU flashing fastboot partition, then I flashed the smaller hboot ruu zip first, and the other large ruu 2nd.
I used the file downloaded by htc sync manager and cancelled the software update before it finished decompressing the archive.
I sold the one I was using but I have another at the house. I need to order a battery and screen for it and then I'll record a step by step of my method. Might be a week or so
(Sorry for the edits; I forgot the quote)

Thank you. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, I still haven't ordered anything for it. Taxes are coming back late, so I'm flat broke, but I haven't forgot about you. I remember it taking me a few tries to get the order just right, but once I figured it out the phone updated like butter. I had ended up soft-bricking it using the bootloader unlock method provided by @BigCountry907.
Have you gone back and tried it again? A lot of times I'll put a phone up in the box and come back to it and have it done in minutes if I just leave it alone for a while.

Will download zip file again and try it again. You never know. Can't hurt!

Any direction as to how to flash my phone if it keeps failing with my previously stated errors? I think it has a virus and it is acting possessed and generally driving me crazy. Thanks in advance!

I cannot RUU!!!!

I downloaded the executable, ran it and I get the following error:
USB Connection Error (Something like that)
The phone reboots and just says htc. The executable is waiting for boot loader and times out after a minute or so.
I unplug the usb after the executable errors out and it instantly goes to a boot loader screen with ruu. I cannot run anything and have no choice but to battery pull.
According to the RUU thread, one person mentioned having to complete part 2 of rooting so i did that. I still cannot return this thing to stock!!!
I need to send it back to sprint, but I gotta get it back to stock first.
How the crap do I get this back to stock!
I'd reply in the RUU thread, but it looks like the last guy who posted never got a response...hopefully this thread will get me an answer.
adb reboot into recovery using "adb reboot recovery" then enable USB and run the RUU

I ran in to the same issue just now. I couldn't fix it, but here is how to do essentially the same thing.
Follow this guide to extract the RUU
Rename the rom.zip file you extract to PC36IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card
Reboot into the bootloader, it will load the file and ask if you wanna install it, you should do so
It'll finish and ask if it should reboot, choose yes and boot into a stock phone.
Its a driver issue, at least it was for me, the google drivers don't work for the htc ruu application. You need the htc drivers install for the phone to be recognized by the rom updater. Hope that helps.
i had that issue too, for me it was the drivers. i then used my work computer and it allowed me to use the RUU
I always had to run a ruu from fastboot in order for it to work
YMMV, but I had to run the oldest RUU first when I was at 1.47 level, and then re-run 1.47 RUU for it to work. Otherwise, bootloader would never get pickup up.
I always had to restart the RUU after I got the error first. Run it again after it times out, when your phone is sitting at the HTC screen and it will work.
Just install the latest HTC Sync and you're set. That will fix your issue. Install HTC Sync and run the RUU afterwards.

Any ideas if my phone is still rooted, or what I need to do to get it back 100% to the way I got it from Sprint.
You can always got into that recovery when holding down vol and pwr. If you go to recovery you should only see a triangle and an exclamation. That means you are not rooted.

At this time there isn't a way to get your Evo 100% back to stock. Why do you quote yourself?
^I quoted myself because mattrb thought I was being vague, and I didn't want anyone to be confused, so I emphasized my previous post which was clear enough, I thought....and I was right!
Thanks guys for all the help. In the end, I used the copied the RUU ROM to the SDCARD, named it PC36IMG and restarted the phone holding volume down...the rest was automatic.
hey dreamliner did u use the 1.47 ruu or the 1.32? I am in need of the same thing but I cant get the 1.47 to run...
would this work renaming the zip and copying it to the mSD card?
http://www.sdx-downloads.com/sdx/evo/stock/OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_release.zip
I cant get the RUU to extract using process manager, and only once have I gotten the 1.47 RUU to boot the device into bootloader and tried again with the phone on the HTC black screen, unplugged, re plugged and thenran it again and it was giving me the 170 usb error again.

This is the easy solution, worked for me. No need to make things more complicated by extracting the rom.zip.
As bcnice said just run the RUU and when your phone is showing the HTC logo and you get the USB error just rerun the RUU.

Thoughts?
What was the process you took to unroot it? That will help us figure out what may have went wrong.

That would be awesome. When you get a moment if you could provide the link that would be great. In the meantime, I'll charge my bb pearl when I get home. No joke...that's my backup phone.
I forgot the mention that I formated my sd card to FAT32 prior to moving the unroot zip file there.
I googled "HTC Incredible unroot" and it was a few links down.
Ok,
I got the RUU file and I do have HTC Sync on my computer. I'm assuming I need to reformat my SD card prior to doing anything else? After that I'm lost as to the step by step.

^^with the RUU it's pretty much this
1. have more than 30% battery
2. DO NOT UNPLUG AFTER IT HAS STARTED
3. run the RUU and follow the instructions
4. hopefully have a working Incredible instead of an Incredible Paperweight
( I did the same thing as you with my first Inc so I know )
EDIT: I see no need to format the SD card again, the phone can use it just fine on FAT32
Download and install HTC sync on to your pc. Then plug in phone to PC and run the RUU
All,
Boom! It works. I'm very grateful for your help. I ran the RUU, which went for about 5-10 min. I hit the power button and it works. Genius.

You don't load it to your device. Plug phone in with usb to computer. Launch RUU.exe and see if RUU finds the phone. If it does, then follow onscreen instructions.. Make sure phone is powered on when you launch RUU otherwise it will not recognize... Phone can be on white screen and still possibly be recognized depending on exactly what the problem is... If it is recognized follow onscreen instructions and at the end your phone will work again.

Can you get to bootloader? When powered down hold volume down and power button at the same time...if so you can use the 3.30 pc36img posted somewhere in here or I have a copy with Amon recovery....if your rooted.

If you can get to bootloader an RUU should work for you. Give it a shot.
Here's a link to the thread. RUU link is in first post. Download it and follow the instructions I gave you earlier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874091
This is the newest RUU though that you flashed the radio from.. Once you get it working you will have to wait on a Root method that works to re-root the phone. Shouldn't be long. You can try an earlier RUU if you want but you'll have to find that in the Rom Sticky Post.
All you gottado is.put the pc36img on the root of your card and the bootloader will read it for you. Just let it run....

Yep, that should work too. I forgot about that as I frequently just RUU'd and then re-rooted, LOL... Good call.
Get a pc36img.zip, place it on the SD card (not in a folder) and start up bootloader. The rest will be taken care of automatically.

Thread stalking is fun, I see which thread you are reading, but you may have to reset you phone.
Do you either:
Have a recovery installed (if you aren't sure, then you may not)
have a PCIMG36 on the root of your sdcard, (if you aren't sure then you may not)

Need Help
I know this is an old thread, but I'm working on an old phone. Hopefully some of you guys are still following this.
My father has an EVO 3D that showed up one day stuck on the white HTC screen. The only remedy was to pull the battery. I thought it would be no big deal to just go into the boot menu and either try and run recovery, or at worst do a factory reset. Both of these options failed. I even made a few attempts at trying from the SD card with a ROM or two. So I downloaded the RUU direct from HTC thinking that would finally take care of the problem. But after connecting up in FASTBOOT mode and running the RUU, it eventually fails when the update gets to the point that it's supposed to restart the phone in bootloader mode. Because at that point the phone just restarts to the white HTC logo again, and the software times out telling me that it can't connect to the device. Any help here other than passing me a trash can Thanks in advance!

[Q] Bricked my DHD, please help :(

Let me just start off by saying poop.
I've been reading up on these forums quite a lot, equipping myself with enough knowledge to get going on using this phone to its potential.
After the anticipation of getting my DHD, I went about rooting it. I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076.
Everything went fine without much trouble. I completed all the steps in rooting it and gaing SU access. Also installed the Clockwork Recovery mod without a hiccup. I went on to install the Android Revolution ROM and going through the guide I used a tool called: 'Easy Wipe Upgrade.'
After installing this zip, the phone reboot and it just refuses to budge. Stuck on the HTC splash screen.
I've held down the bottom volume button with power and it gets me into HBOOT. I've tried a variety of option such as factory resets and nothing seems to be working.
My luck and phones. Just have a very expensive brick now sitting on my desk. Ah
I'd appreciate any help I can get please. Thanks.
I managed to resolve it!
Just FYI. Mounted the USB (Which was hidden fairly deeply) I guess you don't look when you panic? I then dropped on the ROM and installed it and boot up took a while but voila, it worked!
Well done, I would go mental if I bricked my phone. That's why I am still just reading up rather than trying things.

in the exact same situation as you where Could you go into abit more detail how you resolved this? currently have no phone cheers
whats wrong with your phone mate
Just so you know, as long as you have access to the bootloader (can be stock bootloader with S-ON, doesn't matter), 99% of the time you can 'unbrick' your phone by installing a stock RUU (PD98IMG.zip method) which returns your phone to complete stock.
If you install the wrong RUU while ENG HBOOT S-OFF then you can potentially fudge up your phone for good (unless you have Radio S-OFF, then you are fine - just install the correct RUU).
So don't worry, because there is nearly always a way to go back to how your phone was before you started hacking it.

You are not supposed to rename the RUU file, rather you run the RUU file and then afterwards locate the ROM.zip file located in your temp folder. This ROM.zip file is meant to be renamed PD98IMG.zip, NOT the RUU file.
ok that was stupid of me.. ok will try to give it a go..
sorry if this sounds stupid to you again.. but, i just wana be sure.. its my first smartphone..
anyway, i run the ruu file on my pc, yeah? so then when i run it, it asks me to connect my dhd using the usb cable.. so i did... but it couldnt detect my phone.. thus, it couldnt continue it's setup.. ;-( thank you for helping out..
Make sure you install HTC Sync, it should also install all the DHD USB drivers needed.
hey, do you have any step by step guide on doing this? im afraid il do something wrong again and just risk messing up the phone even more..
