EVO Camcorder Quality - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am very unhappy with the video and photo quality of this EVO. Mine is hardware version 003. I just got it 40 days ago. I had an Epic that my son won't give back and it's 720p video is flawless, and the 5Mp photos are crisp and clear. This EVO is completely opposite. The photos are grainy and blurry and the video is terrible.
Are there any fixes for camcorder quality? I am currently running myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 4.

Put them side by side on the computer and they should be about the same. The only thing the epic might get an evo in is low light situations. The screen of the epic might be playing tricks on you.

And you might get flamed for wrong section

What are your setting for camera and video? 8MP and 720?

flame ON!....

Sigh ... quickly loosing hope in humanity

so whats your sd card again? it can be because of your sd card (the video part)

Yes sir. 8MP and 720P video.
And no, the Epic's screen isn't playing tricks on me. I can take video from both handsets, play it back on my PC and they look totally different.

Quit whining and have some control over your kid.

The Epic also has a PowerVR graphics processor 90million per sec. Evo has an embedded Adreno 200 processor at 22million. The Epic should run the graphic significantly smoother and better.

i ment the class of the card because that determines the speed of your sd, thats y i never use to look at videos on my phone until i got a class 6 they run pretty smooth

I like the units of measure you're using

It's well known around here that the Epic camera is far better than the EVO camera.
Check out this side by side comparison, especially the night time one.

But shouldn't 720p video be identical to 720p video from any other device? One would think.

Can try posting in Myn's RLS4 thread and see if there are others who experienced the same thing and perhaps has a fix for it?

No. Thats like saying the view of a sunset from a pinhole and no pinhole is the same.

Good idea, thanks. I ran a search in that thread and quickly browsed but didn't see anything obvious.

I love girl fights. Shut up and close this thread.

Yes, expert it keeps the evo 8mp cashmere instead of the 5mp camera. I heard it wasn't coming to sprint.

looks like it except for the camera (wich is another scratch magnet nipple camera damit!) though i can see a switch right next to the camera button , wich the 3d has , so .......photoshoped? or perhaps a switch with a different function?
Hope it's not a downgrade.

That's the Evo+ in Japan. Look at it on YouTube. No news if we gonna get it though. I love my Evo and will wait for a better option to replace my sweet Evo than what currently available. It meets my requirements perfectly
The Design 4G is the HTC Kingdom from what I've read. 4" screen, 1.2gHz single core processor, dual 5MP camera. Sounds interesting for folks that think the OG EVO is too damn big.
is this the same thing as the htc evo 4G+ that they released in Taiwan or am I totally thinking the wrong device
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoJ6XcgithQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
If u read closely its font is in Japanese
I think
it is a sprint destined phone from what i read on engadget alone ith a couple others of nonimportance edit: also it is supposed to have dedicated cam button no 3d just easy use cam

Then this is the phone I'm waiting for. I love my og Evo and can only think of replacing it w a better beefier Evo. Developement for the dual core snapdragon should be right where it needs to be by then
It's not going to be dual core.. but a previous poster was right. I love my OG EVo, have been rocking it since the day it came out. I don't take that many pics, so the downgrade in mp is not that big a deal to me.. I just want a bit smaller phone. I'll be getting the DESIGN 4G when it drops just for smaller design.
HTC will be unvailing it tomorrow, so we shall see...
http://pocketnow.com/android/htc-evo-design-4g-first-press-shot
First official press photo of the HTC EVO Design 4G. 4inch qHD screen, 1.3mp front facing camera, 5mp on back, 1.2ghz single core processor and 768mb of memory. Shouldn't be too long before its released.

Have we gotten any kind of camera test shots yet?

Still looking for some comparison photos of the NG camera. The 5 MP camera is a bit offputting, but for years the iPhone camera was running at less MP and always seemed to have a better sensor and produce better pictures, i'm hoping that's the case right now. The camera and the size are really my two biggest concerns with the device right now.....
Droid life found some pictures from it back in October

Something like that for example?
Test Pictures
They were made with a sample after the release show. Don't know if they are equal to the final product or not.
Engadget and Thisismynext did test shots between GN and the iPhone4S.
Not gonna be a lot of in-depth tests until review units go out.
The post about how megapixels don't mean crap in terms of picture quality needs to be made a sticky on this forum. I'm tired of it coming up. Take a Nikon dedicated camera that taps out at 5MP and compare it to a phone at 8MP and see which looks better.
If you have Google+ account, find Tim Bray and follow him.
He is one of the Android developer.
And he is testing the GN camera right now during his trip, posted in his Google+.
I saw the photos are amazing!

You're right the nonshaky ones look good. I'm not stunned but I would say it's really solid work for a phone camera.
I'm not impressed. The night shot looked sharp for a night photo but the rest... no visible improvement compared to my Galaxy S. So much for sacrificing MP for quality.

+1 I'm actually excited to see what this camera can do. The 5 MP cam on this phone will probably blow the mytouch4g slides 8 MP away. Bottom line, galaxy nexus Is going to be one badass phone. Period.

Dude it's a phone, the pictures are fantastic for a phone camera and there's a lot of shots which are very good as shown in the pictures in this thread and other threads
If you want a good camera and want to be able to not have any drawbacks, I recommend a DLSR
Or use photo shop to fix any photos maybe
nice pics!
The first two pics and the last one look pretty decent. The others are way too noisy though. Looks like the ISO was a bit high, that or the Digital Zoom has been used. Personal opinion, but Digital Zoom is always a no-go for me

Good GOD the camera on this is AMAZING!

I timed the burst function and it'll take TWENTY pictures (have burst mode enabled and hold down the camera on-screen button) in about THREE SECONDS!
And every time I tap that on-screen button it'll take a picture INSTANTLY! My old Moto Droids got nothing on this!
yeah no shutter lag its great

The Touch Pro took much better pictures than the Touch Pro 2 and the EVO 4G (EVO 4G's camera sucked!). EVO 3D's camera is good, and the GS3 and GNII have even better cameras. Not sure about the EVO LTE, but I'm sure it's as good or better than the EVO 3D's camera.

The EVO 4G had a pretty decent camera in good light. Night pics totally sucked as the flash white washed them terribly. The EVO 3D's poor camera was the main reason I got rid of it.

Why do you always try to question what I or others post? I was asking because it may make recording long sessions more comfortable. Go respond to all those bad screens being talked about in the tread you were very much active in before. Why not now? Cause it makes you look uneducated?
You should read more and post less.

You should read what I actually post and not get defensive. I was responding more to the the selfie stick question, not specifically to your question. I quoted two people, and my answer was for the thread, not just for you. Your comments was one I quoted only because it was relevant to what was attached to the phone, that there was an attachment in the first place -- for people who might not watch the entire video, they wouldn't know that. It was only apparent in the shadow, near the end of the video -- where I captured that screenshot.

The user said he didn't have a "stabilizer" or gimbal -- so I accept he didn't. Yet he did have some kind of attachment. My comment was for the people who thought he was artificially stabilizing the V30 video.
I can remove your comment from being quoted if you wish.
My comments are only meant to be helpful and informative. If you perceive them otherwise, it's not because of what I have actually written.
(I'm not going to mention the screen display here, as I've more than proved my points in the other thread.)

Well I believe that it is recorded with gumbal stabilizer . I have one and this is what my videos look like . And I've been following people filming since v10 and even on selfie stick videos are not this smooth and steady .
