Official firm with no blur - Defy General

Look at the last one here--->and-developers.com/sbf:defy
It is an official motorola firmware with no blur. It is for central europe, but i suppose it will work fine in any european device.
Now i´m gonna try it in my spanish vodafone defy.
EDITED: WORKING PERFECT ALREADY

GREAT NEWS
It works perfect in my spanish vodafone defy. No problems with the network, 3g or language (running in perfect spanish)

sadly, the moto launcher is still here, in fact i think this is not a true deblured firmware, but a much lighter one.

Read this - this isnt the vanilla android you were expecting!
Guys I have flashed this and compared to the previous firmware in the system app / framework department, and basically the only differences are the Blur social networking services have been removed and in there place there is a facebook (albeit an old version) and myspace, ohg a kindle ebook reader.)
The apps removed are:
FriendFeed
megamaid
newswidget
socialmessaging
socialshare
statuswidget
I seriously wouldnt bother flashing it - I have restored my back up.

this is probably true, i was trying to figure out what the differences are between this central europe "deblured" firm and the UK firm, and as far as i know there are also a useless greek keyboard, some icons changed, and the android logo at booting instead of the blur one.

I think there could possibly be a difference in the blurcontacts apk as the current one intergrates some social networking

i had this error in the 2.21 and it was due to root permissions
overclock works the same in 2.34.1
to force milestone overclock app to ask for root permissions, i tapped the apply button before tapping the load module one and setting the processor speed.

follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853674

just flashed it:
root -> OK
overclock -> OK
motoblur -> disabled
I still see my motoblur account and cant delete it.
Also I see some motoblur process, but it is not working!!
I log on to motoblur and see still the old version on overview.
It is also not possible to locate my phone any more.
Do I need to wipe my data to get the useless motoblur account deleted?

Which languages are included in this rom?

And finally Goggles does not longer crash my Defy.. It sort of is a bit hit and miss whether it does much of anything but at least it does not longer crash

I already said (not sure in which thread coz there about 3 or 4 on .the same topic). if someone provides me a dump of system/app + system/framework from this rom I will deodex and create an update.zip to apply JIT. I don't use this ROM so I'm not going to install it to get these files, but if someone gets the dump I will be more than happy to create a package for you all.

By dumping you mean a backup made using tenfars recovery I presume. I would have to install that first ?

Seems I'm the only unlucky guy to use voodoo or universal lagfix kernal

I struggled two days with the blooming versions of JP6/JPM kernal without success. So I have to think I am the only unlucky guy in this forum.
Before the voodoo froyo support come out, I was using JPM with CF-lagfix 1.9, no any problem. After voodoo 5 pre 4 released, I tried to apply it. Then the painful struggling started.
Here are the approaches I did:
Approach A: Uninstall the CF-Lagfix through PC tool, then flashed the voodoo 5 pre 4 kernal through Odin. After reboot, stuck at S logo with vibration a few times, then screen went to blank but still periodical vibration. Reboot again and did factory reset. Same.
Approach B: Flash back stock JP6, rooted with CF-Root, then repeat approach A but repeat the problem.
Approach C:
Step 1: Flash a stock 2.1 ROM ZSJH1(Hong Kong version)
Step 2: Flash a Froyo stock version DXJP1 for Asia (if I flash JP6 directly onto a 2.1 ROM, I got the error message : Can't mount /dev/block/st110)
Step 3: Flash the stock JP6.
Step 4: Rooted with CF-Root.
Step 5: Flash the "universal lagfix kernal alpha 1" kernal, in lagfix option, I choose voodoo, then the recovery show clearly steps of backup/unmount/creat/restore... without any error message. After that, phone rebooted automatically. Still stuck.
Step 6: Did factory reset, no help.
Step 7: Reboot into recovery, disable the lagfix and reboot, same problem.
Approach D:
Repeat Steps 2-4 as C, apply the Doc'Mod barebone version zip file in SD card through CWM, after rebooted, goto recovery and apply voodoo lagfix. Result same. Did factory reset before and after, didn't work.
Approach E:
Repeat steps 2-4 as C, apply Darky's Raw Steel Edition 2.2 from SD card. The phone booted, but it's very laggy, even worse than the stock JP6 without lagfix. Then I put "disable-lagfix" folder inside the voodoo folder in SD card, reboot, system refused boot-up but stuck again.
Now I have to go back to the newest Hong Kong version ZSJP8 with OCLF. System runs very smooth.
Anyhow, since I feel I am quite familiar with Android system flashing (I used Milestone a few months, flashed the different ROM more than 50 times, and N1 one month also flashed many times the customized ROM. Even for SGS, also more than 20 times to try the new versions), this is the first time I face so weired problem. I still would like to give a try for the new kernals, but I really need to know the reasons behind. I searched the forum, seems I am the only guy to have such difficulties.
Sorry for my English as I am a Chinese, but any comments are very appreciated.
Flashing custom kernels can be hit and miss for certain devices - possibly because of hardware differences between regions or something strange. You're not the only one.
An option you can try though is to patch your own region's stock kernel with z4mod. No guarantees, but it's something you can try.
Online patcher available here: http://www.sgscompilebox.dreamhosters.com/
(Still alpha)

Thank you first for your great work for those easy tools for root, lagfix.
My phone was bought in Hong Kong, and many mates surround me (in China) are same, but everybody then claim the succeed to apply voodoo onto JPM/JP6. So far the only working lagfix method for my phone is OCLF.
Regarding the different method, what's your opinion regarding the Ext2 and Ext4, are they really behave so noticeable difference? Your opinion will determine my next try

EXT2 is faster, EXT4 is safer when pulling the battery out of your phone. Personal preference - z4mod supports both anyway, as long as the kernel supports it. The main difference is that z4mod uses your stock kernel, but if others who have the same device don't have the issue it might be something else. Maybe give your phone to them, and ask them to sort it out for you!

Totally off topic, but I must say, as a CBC (Canadian Born Chinese) who doesn't speak any Chinese, it was very very polite and nice for you to say this. This sort of good, polite, attitude is very much appreciated, and you don't see it very often in North America The forums here on XDA are, for the most part, very good...but on other websites, can degenerate into absolute inhumane rudeness.

you might try options other than voodoo .
Most likely your device has different hardware. For example brazilian variant of galaxy s is still unsuported. And there were some different types of vibrant (with larger storage).
You might want to write to curio, he might provide you with some help on how to test your device.

Ok, now I see. I tried one time of z4mod online patch but failed so I didn't try it again. And I found the English always bring me trouble to describe my meaning, actually the mates I mentioned are those we know each other in Chinese forum, but we never meet each other in reality world. So I have no chance to ask them do it for me. And personally, I like to do anything by my understanding then do it by myself. I decided to try one more time of the hottest Universal Lagfix, but I must uninstall your great OCLF first, am I right? if it still get failed, I will say bye-bye to others method forever but stick with your OCLF.
BTW, since Ext2 is faster, and most of the using is regarding the /data partition read/write, does it mean that I can't expect "big" difference between the OCLF and total Non-RFS solution? If so, maybe I should stop to try again.

It doesn't matter to me to off topic, and also I am glad to know a new word: CBC
Chinese have a very traditional saying: Guest must follow host (the meaning, but I don't know how to translate it into English properly), but it's sad to see less and less young guys in China buy it in....You can feel it in most of Chinese forums if you can read Chinese. So we need do much more than economic development. Anyhow, since it's off topic, we could discuss it further through other channels if you like so.

To the OP, you are not alone.
I have two galaxy S phone with me.
One is i9000M from Bell Canada and one is i9000T from south America.
Both can use the OCLF fix but only the i9000M can use the voodoo fix.
I have tried everything possible to get voodoo working on the i9000T with JPM but it just fails to install.
The devices are identical and both can run JPM / JP6 or any other i9000 ROM just fine.
I really don't know what voodoo wont run on the i9000T and i could not get any help from the developer on this matter.

Stock MIUI (Very Very Stable)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This rom is modified from MIUI android to work with clk bootloader. Please give MIUI Android all the credit.
Converted from the latest MIUI available 2.3.9
The goal of this thread is for two things. I have one main goal, STABLILITY. I will keep all roms I create. Their currently are two versions.
-Stock- I will keep up to date with MIUI and release CLK versions to accompy their magldr versions. The stock rom will stay stock, that means no changes!
-Tweaked- The tweaked rom will offer things more towards my preferance, or possibly by request. Currently the only difference between Stock and Tweaked is in the tweaked version MIUI launcher has been removed and replaced with Go Launcher. If you would like to see something included in this rom, please post.
(tweaked version is currently discontinued)
Features of Stock MIUI
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-A2SD
-Rooted
-Android 2.3.7

MIUI has many neat features.
1. Long press on the toggle switch will take you to that options settings.
2. Secrecy mode disables text, and call logs to let someone look at your phone.
3. Holding the home key on the lock screen activates the flash light.

thanks for this one, works nicely.
will stick with it for now..
Just a head's up - for those of you who like as much internal space for apps as possible, a 150/5 partition is more than sufficient to run this ROM, considering the extracted /system size is about 137MB.
I used that size, worked fine for me.

No worries bud, we all have to start somewhere.
A good measure of what partition size you need is by checking the extracted size of all the files going into the /system partition in your ROM zip (usually just the "system" folder in a ROM zip file, but could include other directories, depending on how the ROM installs), and then rounding up to the nearest multiple of 10.
In other words, if I built a ROM, and saw the extracted "system" directory (and/or any other directory being extracted to /system) in the ROM works out to be around 173MB, I'd recommend using a 180MB partition for /system.
Keep up the good work, really useful to have a CLK version of MIUI.

I don't quite get what you're looking for, please explain it a bit further.
If you're asking where to find the standard MIUI apps to add to this ROM, then you must have missed in the OP that no changes have been made, and hence all the standard included apps are in this ROM already.
Alternatively, if you want all the basic MIUI apps for something else, why not just download the ROM, and extract those you want from the ROM zip?
Sorry if I don't quite get what you meant.
MrP.
EDIT: kylew1212 beat me to it.
This rom was for personal use. But I use this rom, with a little tweaking. I use go launcher so that my home screen isn't cluttered. Would anyone be interested in a miui version with a little tweaking? I will keep the stock one but I may build a tweaked version. Let me know if interested.

Firstly, thanks, i'd like to have it untweaked. Stock is Stock. Ya we al may do without that Xiaomi account
color branding
I have a question for you all, hoping I can solve this, finally...after months.
I am using MIUI for months now, with Tytungs r14 kernel. (also tried Dorimanx kernel, but that one has the same issue)
This solves the majority of the color branding issues, but you will get a 'full' fix upon changing the MIUI launcher settings to 'hi-res', which massively destroys the smoothness of the scrolling.
MIUI themselves say it can't happen, though I still have this g**damn color branding issue, when not using hi-res scrolling. There has to be something in that launcher (with other launchers like adw, go launcher, launcherpro, this can be simply fixed by completely disabling the scrolling cache in those settings) to fix this.
Does anybody know how to do this with the MIUI launcher? I love MIUI, but I want something that looks 100%, and i can't live with the color branding stuff (as it also shows in the wallpapers).

This is a completely stock rom. The reason I say it was made for my personal use is because I prefer Clk over Magldr. MIUI only publishes a Magldr version. I converted this Magldr version (for my myself) to clk. I changed nothing else. It is completely stock except now it works on two bootloaders instead of one. I uploaded the original(magldr) and my own(clk).

Also have you tried newer versions of MIUI? Possibly they fixed this unknowingly? Sorry I'm not very much help on this at the moment..

CM 12.1/13 - various builds

Hello guys, I'm going to share some CM builds I've found online and I'd like you to try them and discuss them. Thanks to collapseromer.
Builds are usually compatible both to US and Chinese devices: please say which version you're using when you post/report bugs since we'd like to confirm that.
Most recent I've found (old versions hidden):
BetaHydri (12/07/2016):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/leeco-le1-pro/development/cm12-1-rom-betahydri-letv-1-pro-t3416651
Thanks to our fellow @BetaHydri we have the best of both worlds: working location service (even for mobile and wifi, Smart Lock via location should work now!) and working videos. Nice job!
Collapseromer's 20160628 build:
http://rom.7to.cn/romdetail/1012717

OK, things are getting serious: we've got Play Store and Google services working fine (location via mobile data and wifi not working), all kind of streaming videos play fine, framerate for GPU intensive games is unbelievable compared to LeTV's 12S stock ROM based Custom ROMs; no major bugs to note except Parrot's Free Flight 3 app not working.
Dolby Atmos/AudioFX can be fixed using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67579077&postcount=109

Google Play Store started FCing after like an hour since I installed. I've tried a few things to get it back (uninstall via Root Explorer and reinstall, clear cache and data, flash GApps again) but so far no luck; funny enough, it's auto-updating installed apps and installing apps when I do that via browser just fine. :/
EDIT: Now it works... I guess it's because of the modified build.prop I applied, which I'm attaching here..
Actually I kept getting Play Store working on and off and I couldn't understand what triggers that so I reverted to the ROM below.

When you first enter this menu appeared selected the option "TD-SCDMA, LTE, CDMA, EVDO GSM / WCDMA," possibly this was the problem, it was the wrong choice. So it was.

And head over here to review the ROM, I think that may stimulate collapseromer to build more, maybe even CM13! http://rom.7to.cn/romdetail/1012717
What's your mileage guys? Could you get some CM13 somewhere, maybe? Please share your files and experience, LeTV ROMs are just clueless and I really think CM is the only way out: how could you develop such a useless lockscreen and notification shade, LeTV?
Hmm... Great stuff. I also not very impressed by EUI... What about Sim card slots, mobile Internet and camera? Do all these things work on CM too? How about battery life? Is it improved or same or less?
Sent from my Le 1 Pro using Tapatalk
I'm using slot 2 only and data/calls/messages work fine; both cameras work, with 4k videos too; battery is more or less the same, I can go morning to evening just like Cuoco's. I really insist you should try, unless letv starts developing good things (but it seems like Android 6 ROM doesn't change much) I'll never look back; moreover, someone may port cm13 sooner or later.
Inviato dal mio X800+ utilizzando Tapatalk
How's the camera quality, compared to EUI?
Thanks for this share OP =D
Not at all, dude, I just want to spark some conversation and maybe development for this DOA device...
Camera is fine, you even get 4k video recording from main camera and 1080p from the front facing one. Even official EUI ROMs are not that good, with camera: videos always fail to autofocus and you have to keep pressing on screen to refocus, while pictures live preview is slow and generally not so good with low lighting.
Please H3G, deliver the HTC 10 and I'll get that in a heartbeat so I can stop going slightly mad with this device!

Ok thanks !
Then I will try it today, as I have some problems with my actual CUOCO 11S V4.3 which could not be OTA updated anymore for whatever reason.
Did't you installed OPENGAPPS arm64 version right after the ROM flash ?
Right, opengapps build, 64 bit, Android 5.1, flashed right after ROM (put two zips in queue, in case you're wondering). Let me know which build you're going to flash and how you like it.

I installed it ! But on boot I choosed german as language maybe not a good idea. Will try again with english at first boot-up.
I noticed following:
- I installed OpenGAPPS Stock Version for 5.1 / arm64
- Google Play Store is crashing
- AudioFX is crashing
- four to six useless chinese apps included into the ROM
- One settings extension is completely in chinese
Anyway if I'm able to remove the for me useless stuff and fix the crashing of the play sotre, then I will keep this ROM.
Which ROM build did you flash? I reverted to https://app.box.com/s/ua2ekx0g54iltp2nj9b8uo2fykciylwg for now, just because of Play Store issues (even though it actually worked since I could install apps via browser and apps were auto-updating I could open it only sporadically, most of the time it force closed).
- AudioFX crashes here too, I actually never tried that since all my audio needs are speaker and bluetooth;
- You can easily freeze/uninstall those Chinese apps: enable CM root access in standard developer settings, install Titanium Backup or similar from Play Store (or via apk from apkmirror.com) and get rid of them;
- That settings item in Chinese language is actually just a container for all those Chinese apps you want to kill, so don't bother. It will force close if you click on it, once you freeze/delete those apps.
- I always choose Italian as system language and everything is in Italian: except for those Chinese apps, of course, but they never survive for a long time.

Yes exactly. I flashed it already Play Store works on this build from 12.05.2016. Cool !
I already deactivated all the chinese APPS via APPS Settings --> All Apps. It's important that you have to download first a new keyboard like google keyboard. As the chinese/english one will be also unavailable when deactivating all chinese app/services from settings.
Yeah, so far that build worked fine, only occasional non-playing Periscope/Facebook videos. Even installed Xposed Framework with a few modules.
Oh, are you using Trebuchet or Google launcher?

Why can't I just use the China ROM instead of Global?

Apart from having to add gapps and some Chinese bloat, is there any other downside to sticking with the Chinese ROM?
What upsides are there if any?
Thanks.
Can anyone reply please? I've found one at an excellent price and want to snag it before it goes.
You can keep using the chinese one and have it fully functional, but some polish is missing and some aspects of MIUI will be chinese even with the language set to english. The biggest one I noticed is the theme and wallpaper store - it's always chinese, and even the same themes downloaded under the chinese theme store are different (I think the chinese store doesn't allow icon packs?). Searching for themes by their english name doesn't work on the chinese theme store either.
There's also a lot more china-specific settings and services that are just gone in the actual global ROM, the global ROM is much more barebones (uses less memory too) than the chinese ROM and not everything can simply be uninstalled in the chinese rom without root, just hidden. The global ROM basically just comes with google play services and common google apps, MIUI replacements for AOSP basic apps like calculator/calendar/weather/browser/music/etc and is as bland as possible to appeal to a larger audience.
Global rom is definitely a better experience, but you CAN use the chinese ROM just fine. I did for awhile until the global ROM came out, flashed it immediately because I wanted a cleaner OS with ~10 less random chinese apps sitting in the app drawer.
Just buy it and flash Global Rom on it

I have the same experience after a week using the China ROM on my Redmi 5 Plus
With China ROM I was able to delete 80% of china bloatware and everything else runs just fine and smooth, calls, GPS, email, etc. (with Gapps) so if you never flashed a ROM before, I recommend to keep the China ROM instead of the Global
Haha, many Chinese flash the global rom just for the clean OS and the AOSP notification bar.
If I was to get the device with the Chinese ROM installed is it simply a case of downloading the global ROM from the mini website and installing it via the updater app or will the bootloader need to be unlocked? Seen a couple of good deals but all for the Chinese version.

its not so easy, you need to get a unlock approval from xiaomi, then you need to wait to unlock the bootloader, and then you can flash whatever you want.
From getting the approval to the finished unlocked bootloader, it will take about 3-5 days
i am looking to purchase mi 9 once it is released in china, but how long does it take for the MIUI 10 global rom available to download?

Ah ok. You need to deactivate your Xiaomi account for the phone. Registering throws up all sorts of stuff including ads etc. After that you should be good to go.
It's just bugging me that I can't use something that is part of the phone. I also can't use the Mi PC Suite either, it doesn't detect my phone. Not that it's dire, just the fact that it won't work irks me ;p I'm using Havoc rom atm anyways, but knowing me I'll be switching around a lot

I haven't done too much research but can anyone elaborate on the whole "you can opt for a stock Android on the international variant" thing?
I dislike Android skins and would love to have the ASUS RoG Phone 2 but not if I can't use something that resembles stock Android in terms of the UI.
Does the tencent version have this? If I convert to the WW ROM, can I use stock Android? Am I completely mistaken here?
Cheers guys

Mostly across animations. System Performance, It's more or less the same. Nothing significantly different.
On International Rom, Sometimes you need to frag stuff twice to move around - That sort of a slow feeling. It was not there on the CN Rom.
I noticed this because I jumped back and forth between the roms a lot.
Ok now i have an issue :/
I can't find the mobile manager app ANYWHERE on the device now after flashing to WW
Not in the search, not in the apps section and when i search for it in play store it doesn't give me an option to open or install the app :/ now what :/

Everything you need to operate on the phone is in English, some local apps will not have English which is expected to be you can uninstall those apps and install the global alternative ones. But system wise everything is in English.
There will be those minor instances where there will be a word in Mandarin or a sentence but I don't recall seeing those that often.

1. The internationall Rom "WW".
2. If you mean the local app store you can access it from the app store itself but it's in Mandarin for the Tencent version not English. If you want to link it with an account just link it with your WeChat id.
If you mean the Google account just go to "Accounts and sync" in the setting menu and remove your Google account if you want to replace it with another account.
