[Suggestion] Mobile friendly website - About xda-developers.com

Hello,
First of all, let me tell you how much I love XDA Developers! Discovering this website has improved my phone by 1.000%!
There is just one thing I am not getting: As this site is all about phones, why isn't there a mobile friendly version of the site? (m.xda-developers.com)
The XDA App is a great alternative, but isn't available on Windows Mobile and misses some easily accessible, important functions (like search a specific thread/forum.. So don't look at me if this question has been asked plenty of times already..) Before I got Android, the immense loading times were always annoying, especially when there wasn't any 3G network available..
Therefore I am hoping that a mobile friendly website will be launched somewhere in the future, for an upgraded XDA browsing experience for every OS!
Cheers,
-Zyt

+1
Android app is nice, but it's only for text. There is no formatting, images or other stuff inside posts. Just text and attachments. And is also missing some great features like "view first unread".

The WinMo App Store

Freeware PPC, and the numerous FTP sites, along with device update, and PDM.
These are the many places I've fund over 85 different applications("apps") that I run on Windows Mobile 6.x.x. These all being in many places, sometimes hard to find, sometimes easy to find. Other "apps" include going to a website, made for and by the "app" parent company.
I have around 500 cabs on my HDD, updating and reorganizing them all the time.
Now say I make up a handy spreadsheet(on my phone) That goes over screen size Supported OS versions, and various other things including a description. Is there any way that someone else, that has a lot better understanding of mobile "app" writing than I do, take the info I compile, and apply it to their Marketplace for window Mobile, the real one.
I would hope to include my best Icon(that may take a while), and Potentially server mirroring the apps, since I already keep all the "apps" I use and have acquired, in a very organized fashion.
The style of PDM I like a lot more than M$Marketplace, the search feature is nice(sorting ITL and WWE is convenient. The touch interface, such as the drop down info, is also well implemented.
Device Update on the other hand it awesome, its simple, very similar to the OS it runs on.
I know WinMo is dead, within a few months from this threads initial post, it will be outdated, and completely forgotten shortly thereafter. But I know plenty of people sticking with at least one older model(e.g. HD2) and the apps are really out there.
Anyone care to work on this? I just lost my main PC and have been using my phones word processor and multiple web browsers to keep myself as close to a real PC as possible, this also had me downloading apps for usage similar to what I was doing on my PC.
Alongside this, I read an article about why someone is using the iPhone 4 as a "daily driver." When it came to his comparison of the apple, android, and WinMo marketplaces, he went over how although there is always an app there for WinMo its painstakingly hard to find. This is true(at least to those average consumers) and as he mentioned the Marketplace holds 1100 "apps."
I've been using a PPC since 05-06(can't remember...) and love what WinMo has had I.M.O. Over the other OS's. I have always been able to find exactly an app(s) for that. Normally in the larger "collections" I've grabbed from the net, there are thousands in each 0day pack and he was releasing them on a regular basis.
I also know that this could really help the platform, it would be the user made the marketplace. Then what's stopping M$ from handing us helpful(outdated e.g.. code) info that can make our app store even better.
I don't want a mimicking app store(although a skinnable one would beat unique) I just want something that can help out and be user made, user maintained.
Let me know what you guys think.
I worte, and published thi from my TyTn II(at&t tilt)
XDA Marketplace
Hi,
Nice to see your thoughts on this...
xda member 'davidgida' has developed an application 'XDA Marketplace' (thread)
Your repository would be a great addition to it ... I will point him to this thread as I have pointed to his
Hope to see a great partnership come in place !
I would love it if you upload your cab files to the xda market
If you have an idea what could be improved on the xda market or a feature you would love to be added just PM me. Every new idea is welcome.
EDIT:
Nearly I forgott:
This is the official thread for the xda market: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=707988
Wow, I saw this thread drop off the main page listing so fast, I figured all was missed.
Glad to find the App that's here already, Just got my Tilt2 Monday, was busy borrowing other peoples internets to flash deepshining on it. Got it up and working the same day I got it.
I'll try to get my FTP server back up. I'm currently running all my computers in my office on shared shared internet. Tethering to my main rig, and sharing the net to the other three. My switch recently died, and the wire running from the lower floor died shortly thereafter. I've been only online with my phone.
After I get the XDA app store on my phone, I'll compare my list to yours, then null out the duplicates. The spreadsheet I can custom tailor to similar categories, but I haven't seen the layout yet. Hopefully it will only take me a few days to write up some descriptions.

[REQUEST] Speed reading on Android (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation)?

Hey guys! I don't know if you've ever tried one of those speed reading softwares (like iReadFast for Mac OS), but they really turn reading into a whole new experience. It's less tiring and a lot faster. And, guess what, there already is an app for the much loved iPhone (called QuickReader), which takes speed reading to a mobile device. In their FAQs, they talk about eventually taking QuickReader to Android OS, but nothings planned yet. So... if any of you developers feel the urge to do some good for all us heavy readers... why not make an app? Cheers, T
just try aldiko book reader..dats much convenient though..

it's a great ebook reader, yep, doesn't do speed reading though. or am I missing something??
This is the technique included in QuickReader:
h t t p ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapid_Serial_Visual_Presentation
You can check it out on h t t p ://www.spreeder.com
it may be on the go
check @veloread in twitter
I just discovered RSVP reading and freakin love it!! I can't believe how much faster I can read and with full comprehension. I've looked on the Android market and haven't found an RSVP reader yet. Ugh! to Apple having another app that we don't have.
You can use from any android Veloread. Is the best thing at the moment. There is a protoype available from the home page.
just wanted to give this a quick push... veloread just isn't very convenient at all.

If xda were based on bootstrap

Hello everyone!
I'm a 17 years old guy, who is trying to be a proffessional designer and developer. For the moment, i'm just an amateur.
My knowledges are: HTML & CSS and i'm trying to expand them it.
So, just for fun, i made a XDA sub-forum based on bootstrap.
http://dm5.com.ar/forum/
I just want to know, what they think. And, in a near future, if a designer can make a usable theme for vBulletin.
PS: Check the user section, and the 'Quick Links' section, it has dropdown.
Looks really nice and clean. I haven't used bootstrap but I hear it is a good base to work from.
When designing the 2013 theme we originally tried to use pure CSS, but the way vBulletin is set up made it very difficult.
We are working on a mobile 2013 theme. If you are interested and want to send a sample, we would love to see it. We have the beginning done but need to flesh it out so that all functions work on a mobile browser. My current thinking is that http://jquerymobile.com/ would be a good way to go.
Keep up the good work, you'll be a developer in no time!
Unfortunately bootstrap, jquery mobile are over bloated..
I wanted to try jQuery Mobile on a mobile site but I've decided that the best way is to build out a mobile template "in-house". The users with poor phones and slow connection will thank you. Both parts saves lot of bandwidth.
I know.. I like the flexibility, functionality, animations of jQuery Mobile but it takes too much precious space (& bandwidth)..
Additionally you can make two mobile interfaces: one for old phones and one for top notch smartphones.

Is a good app but i think need another logo!
What apps you are creating all are non-seance as per my view. You are calling BETA Testers for promoting your app.

Jquery Mobile - single one page design

Hi everyone, I am developing an android application based on Html5 and jquery Mobile, I want to follow the design of the one single page approach to improve the user experience, you know, the transition between pages is much faster.
The problem is my page is very big now, how I could split my page in smaller ones, but given the user experience of a single page approach? Could I split in html pages and then to do any kind of import?
Any kind of recommendation will be very appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance.
Best regards
David.

Typically, how you would do this is create a HTTP post to the data, and update the DOM like so .
Code:
$.get("url_here", {param: "none"}, function(data){
$("#dom_elem_ID").html(data)
});
The data is passed through the 'data' variable and updated to DOM.
I would recommend using AngularJS routes instead of jQuery get/post.

+1 for updating and managing the dom. Don't keep everything in memory if you don't need it.
Another thing you could think about doing is moving to angularjs (or another framework if you prefer) and making your application responsive throughout. This will ensure that your application will adapt across many devices/form factors and be laid out in the best way for each device.
That's not to say that jquery mobile won't work on a desktop, its just very targeted at mobile devices and will feel strange to some people on a desktop.
