Looking for TELUS ROM for Motorola Charm - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

There appears to have been a TELUS software update for the Charm. Apparently I can't post a link, but if you search Google for "telus charm update" you can go to (what should be) the second result. Does this mean there should also be an SBF out there for it somewhere? Or would this software update have come in the "update.zip" format? Anyone have any information? My TELUS Charm is bricked—the only existing ROM that even slightly works is the T-Mobile one, but I don't get any phone service with it. All of the others give me MEM_MAP errors. Thanks!

I'm also looking for TELUS ROM for Motorola Charm.
Anyone can help me?

Here's the original Charm T-Mobile ROM and another ROM for Charm without Blur - but it didn't boot when I flashed it to my T-Mobile Charm using RSDLite 4.5.3 - I had to flash T-Mobile again.
Haven't found a way to (nan- or clockworkmod-) backup the entire ROM.

Also I'm trying to get Cronos (who's android 2.3 for Hero is amazing) to create a Charm port by donating him a Charm:

Thanks, but I don't need T-Mobile rom. I need TELUS rom.

Hi,
I have two TELUS charms.
Can anyone tell me how to do a backup of the ROM?
I will post it here once i get it.
Both phones are rooted, but I managed to almost brick one and so would like to clone the ROM over from the working phone .

OK so I managed to mostly fix my dead Telus Charm by flashing the ROM posted by toto221 at modmymobile (google Charm firmwares superthread, sorry I'm not allowed to post links yet).
However, this ROM, in addition to having BLUR, comes with Google search and Google Talk removed, and Spanish Yahoo as the default search provider.
On the plus side, it does come with Flash 9.1.
EDIT:
So by some weird chance, it seems that first flashing the spanish/portuguese ROM, then rebooting and reflashing the BASEM de-BLUR ROM, I now have a fully working BLUR-free Charm.

Well, fully working with Bell HSPA. But I believe they're the same network and frequencies, so, theoretically, yes.
All the files I used are on my Mediafire account:
http://www.mediafire.com/?94z9t52nvd17d
Flash first: BASLA_U3... .sbf (Spanish ROM)
Flash second: BASEM_U3... .sbf (De-BLUR ROM)
I have never flashed the T-Mobile ROM though, so YMMV.

Hmm strange. I did also flash with a messed-up "frankenstein" combination ROM with pieces of both in between, so that may have done something.
I'll post that up on mediafire too. (http://www.mediafire.com/?izn2srs2k2zbrg0)
When I get home I'll try flashing my other Charm that's still running stock Telus.
Also, by the way, is your phone unlocked? Because I bought both of mine unlocked, not sure what difference that makes.

My phone is unlocked.
I will try tomorrow.
Thanks!

OK, so as I thought, the T-Mobile ROM is what causes problems. It has either a different locked bootloader or a newer version, so any of the other, older ROMS (Telus, deblur, etc.) cannot be flashed anymore.
Same problem as a bunch of VZW Droid owners have. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...34-stuck-bootloader-err-a5-70-39-00-27-a.html
Now the only solution would be to flash the phone with an sbf that the phone would accept. Not sure if one of these is available, or if there's any way to hack one together from the T-Mobile and deblur ones.

Interesting developments! How did you create your "frankenstein" ROM? Perhaps such a ROM could be made with the T-Mobile firmware as a base, with the radio components of the Latin American ROM then added?

Well, all I did was extract the .sbf using MotoAndroidDepacker. Then I swapped the Code group .smg files around and rebuilt it.
Problem is, I have no idea what I'm doing or what CG31, CG37 and so on mean. I can try to guess based on the file size but... We probably need someone with some Motorola expertise.

ergosteur, I have flashed your "frankenstein" combination ROM today. Still unable to boot.

So your phone can now ONLY flash the T-Mobile ROM?? - unable to "update" to the DEBLUR ROM??

That's right. Because the DEBLUR ROM has an older bootloader or something, and Motorola doesn't allow downgrades.
Notice the T-Mobile ROM has a white Motorola logo on black background while booting, and some fancy colours behind it, while the other ROMs have a solid white background and black Motorola logo.

I had hoped it was simply because the T-Mobile ROM was SIM locked but the DEBLUR (or any other) ROM still doesn't boot even after I've bought and appiled unlock codes to two T-Mobile Charms.
I think you're right - it seem the bootloader (for USB flashing) is blocking it somehow - it stops booting and shows the bootloader with some error msg.
So the conclusion is: NEVER buy the T-Mobile Charm - go for Telus' only (until a new open community bootloader arrives).

Hi,
Can anyone confirm that an unlocked TELUS CHARM would be de-blured if:
From stock Telus rom and without ever flashing T-Mobile rom I flash:
BASLA_U3_00.32.203_R02_SIGNED_USABASCLALALA02C.0R_PDS000_GCXBASLCLALALA_P051_A021_M009_HWp3_1FF.sbf (spanish rom)
And then flashing:
BASEM_U3_01.12.4_DEBLUR_SIGNED_USABASIL01RINT150AI013.0R_PDS000_UC1SOMPBASLRTINT_P025_A016_HWp3_1FF.sbf (deblured rom)
I will get a WORKING 2G and 3G 850/1900 de-blured TELUS CHARM.
Is this possible?
Best Regards.

UPDATES:
I bricked my CHARM flashing DE BLURED firmware!!!
My TELUS CHARM boots to bootloader, and gives error:

And then the rooted version, this also contains Cyanogens APN list from a MoDaCo Rom so it will work on all networks.

Also this wipes your data partition so you will lose all applications and settings.
With the german language, or only english?
Thanks
Only English, have a 'generic' type like the 405 roms being tested tomorrow. I will post when done and happy with it.

Seriously? Quite a lot!
This ROM is just straight from HTC, bog stock standard but rooted and with new access points. There are no other tweaks or apps like the dozens in MCR3.1.
Read the changelog/featurelist of MCR, everything written in there has been changed from a stock ROM just like this one.
Has this rom got all the network logo`s etc on? or have you managed to get rid of them all?.

Hey :-D
Currently I have the rooted 66-Version running (thanks to you lol) and it had some great improvements in speed and stability. Does the new ROM have some "visible" and "noticable" improvements?
BB.

Yeah it´s 1.5.

First post edited, added MD5 checksums so people can check them after downloading.
There shouldnt be anyone getting verification failed, means part of the file or signature is missing.

Does someone see an Improvement in this ROM?

Many have been requesting the ROM itself as there have been issues flashing it via KIES (gee, no wonder). I'm uploading the full copy so you can flash it via ODIN... This ROM is the exact same copy you will get from KIES, with NO MODIFICATIONS.
Download Here. This is for the LATAM version of the GT-I9000T FULL ROM, should work as well in other areas with the 850 Band.

Just flash it via ODIN under PHONE, select the file and you're set (don't tic repartition or other options, Keep It Simple). At the moment I haven't created a CWM version to flash it directly from the ROM; my guess is ODIN is the safest way to go.

Granted it should work but I may have messed up.

Working on JVH
Oh my God! I flashed it over JL2 in CM7/MIUI and it went from 2 bars to 4 bars! There is no way to force a band in CM7, so JL2 kept on reverting to the inferior 900 band.
The GPS didn't work at first. Then I looked up the right ntp server from http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@. Mine was ca.pool.ntp.org. I got a fix but it keeps switching between 0 satellites and 6 satellites. The fix isn't as stable as JL2.
Altogether- JV6 must be focusing on the 850 band because I'm getting four bars now. This is good news for anyone in Canada!!!!

Well, I lost my IMEI flashing to CM7 also, there is a guide in my signature how to backup/restore the IMEI(only if you have the nv_data file) , that's a MUST The most important file ANYONE should keep handy is the nv_data.bin
It actually depends on which ROM you come from, I didn't lose anything when flashing to this, so everyone will have a different results.
It's not ONLY for 9000Ts, Its a 850Mhz Oriented modem (very popular in Latin America, Australia, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Argentina and Brasil). I have flashed 9000m, and 9000 ROMs on my SGS, all are the same. The only "functional" thing that changes are the CSCs and the Modems.

were you able to adjust to a 850 signal? I am running latest MIUI and still haven't figured out if it's hardware or a modem.bin that can dictate an 850 signal. I would love to run 3G on my i9000 international but it's still a mystery to me.
Would be grateful to hear if anyone has some insight.
BTW I flashed it last night...batter life is significantly better but still on EDGE only.

As you all know by now so you need to have GB bootloaders in order to run GB firmware, this means that the same rules applies to this package as it does with the stock GB, Froyo bootloaders are no-go.
I haven't tested this package on my device (don't have I9000T), so I cannot tell how it performs, I hope that you will not face any problems using it.
Good luck to all of you.

Another way GSM Unlock for US Carriers and returning from d801 to ls980

So is there any other way of gsm unlocking the LS980 for US carriers (T-mobile for me) without being on the two specific roms that do this? Like say Vanir, or omnirom, or the Glex rom? I see the build.prop method mentioned a lot but not the actual process for it, and does that work for US carriers? Also, I flashed Justin's stock JB rom on my ls980 so its going to say its a d801, how do i go back to my ls980 status? I may or may not have accidentally my backup too... any way to undo this without using the lg flash tool?

So far Ive tried the energy rom in the tmobile dev section and the stock international version (d802). Both worked well and I especially liked the d802 because it had the fm radio app and it worked great. Some other users have ported verizon roms as well.
Ive also tried the build prop method with modest success:

Look for post #423 and remember ti use lowercase "spr" (credit to MA7MOD_GSM)
Unfortunately the build prop method has a few quirks. You have to dial a "1" before dialing a number otherwise the dialing app crashes. Also I couldn't get wifi tethering to work properly. Eventually I settled on the energy rom and its been my daily driver for about 2 weeks and I cant complain much.
I dont know if you can successfully flash a ls980 and get back on the stock rom without lg flash tool. If you want to go back to stock Id stick to the tried and true method namely the stock tot file and lg flash tool. Follow the instructions here: (credit to hyelton)

Thats a good question. I cant speak from experience but Id imagine that any stock based spring rom would still have the usa gsm carrier lock. Now if I remember correctly some users have reported that using the build prop method then flashing a sprint AOSP rom unlocked the phone for usa carriers. It was called something along the lines of grievous or grievious rom and yes, I wiped everything and I always clear both caches but it wouldn't boot and got stuck on the fastboot screen. I replaced all the necessary files although I did notice that the rom did not have the loki folder at all but I copied it anyway, is that maybe why that happened? Also, do you remember what other roms you've tried besides the energy rom?

Hi
Hi , I have flashed JUSTIN ROM posted in post# 239
It works fine , I have one issue and one query
- I can't set up any APN , by default it's T-Mobile. Even though I can add apn manually I can't select as there is no select button next to the apn.
Please note I am using this ROM in India/Airtel network (Need urgent help on this as no DATA is active)
- Is there any Kitkat version of this ROM
I have also attempted to use another ROM , following the instructions as per post #410
But after flashing my phone stuck in LG logo.
- Do I need to flash some other modem
- ROM which I were trying to flash is T-Mobile stock debloated (Kitkat) and I compared and did file adjustment against Justin's ROM (Sprint - T-Mobile , post#239 )

Need help on Galaxy Note 2 N7105

Hi Guys,
I have switching roms in these few months. Recently, I tried to use back the stock rom N7105XXUFOB2. Everything went normal until I found 2 problems:
1. imei is blank with /01 when typing *#06#, but baseband was shown and I can still get the network. (My mistake for not backing up the efs folder)
2. GPS not found, tried with google map and waze but same issue. Tried with gps status also to no solution. (No satellite at all)
Then, I went for customs rom, GPS works and network works as per normal but with imei blank and baseband display. Anyone got idea on how to resolve it?
Appreciated if anyone can help.
Where did you get the stock ROM? Is that the latest stock ROM for the phone?
I found these stock ROMs: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=GT-N7105

I have forgotten where I downloaded it. But definitely not sammobile as it requires user login.
Below is the version I use.
PDA/AP Version: N7105XXUFOB2
CSC Version: N7105OLBFOD1
MODEM/CP Version: N7105XXUFNI2
Region: Singapore (singtel)
Are you saying that the stock rom I am downloading is not genuine or somehow corrupted?
Is that possible that imei blank, baseband still around and mobile signal works as per normal? Because I am facing it. lol.
By the way, in 4.4.2, is there anyway to do screen mirroring to samsung tv? Firstly, it mentions 'Unable to Start Screen Mirroring because of Hardware Issues'. Then I checked online and edit build.prop file by adding in “wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable“. Then the hardware issue quote is gone but the tv screen is blank.
I would flash the latest stock ROM from updato.com.
I'm not sure how you can get any cell or data service from your carrier without success valid IMEI.

Ya, it is very weird. But just to confirm again. If I reflash the rom from the website you mentioned, Is that possible to fix the blank imei issue? I think it is going to be 50-50.
I have tried googled this issue, I found some said to change imei using mtk tool, does it apply to galaxy note 2 as it mentioned works for Mediatek devices and not sure about others?
Just a friendly reminder that XDA does not permit any discussions related to changing an IMEI.
Flashing the latest stock ROM will sometimes being back the IMEI.

Understood. I found the same rom in updato, just wonder why some roms with same android version but different pda version so late? (Eg, France (Orange) (FTM), N7105XXUFQH1, 4.4.2- 17 Sept 2017)
Is it just because the rom is being updated late in updato?
Different ROMs for different regions and carriers. Not all ROMs have the same languages too.

Understood and thanks for your explanation. For stock firmware, do you have problem doing screen mirroring to smart TV?
Unfortunately, I can't comment on mirroring because I haven't had a Samsung phone for a while.

Oh I see, never mind then.
The problem on the stock firmware is that manufacturer has already abandoned the phone. Therefore, many apps have been discontinued and that's why the screen mirroring is not working. But I trully love the stock camera app compared with custom rom. :crying:
Now I'm using custom rom and will continue monitoring first.
Anyway, thanks again.
I think the note 2 has decent hardware and could probably run 6.0 with no problem but Samsung would sell fewer phones

Ya, you are right. I am not using custom rom resurrection remix nougat version. The camera is not as smooth as the stock camera which is sad for me. My wife did complain to me that the phone with this rom was lagging, which led me to back to stock firmware.
But now I am back to same rom so far is ok, only that I need to make sure the phone can run smoothly and I will be happy to use it. Cheers.

Moto G Fast rav. Android 11 upgraded...

I was trying to flash official zip from lolinet. I got a moto g fast carrier locked from boost mobile, bootloader unlocked tho. To see if I can remove the software variant "boost". Obviously to use it with my current carrier Metro. But I accidentally....(yeah right)! LOL. I ended up flashing in a blink the zip file
RAV_RETAIL_11_RPJ31.Q4U-47-35. and now, I got my self a moto g8 with android 11. Let me tell you. ITS AMAZING....some screenshots...
Got a link to where to download this firmware? The latest RetUS firmware on lolinet is still Android 10.
Does Android 11 on G Fast support WiFi calling?
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/rav/official/RETAIL/RAV_RETAIL_11_RPJ31.Q4U-47-35_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
That's the link from lolinet.
I have been exploring the device. (Hidden menu/settings, secrets codes) and I do see wifi calling native. But when I start the "action" it just opens up an empty white screen from settings that sais wifi calling preferences...
But no option to select....at all.
maybe cause my carrier doesn't support this mode?

I was too lazy to change my phone to RETAIL channel. Looks like Android 11 has now come to RETUS channel.
The firmware now includes a super.img_sparsechunk.15 file. I cut and pasted stock firmware flash instructions and failed to notice that it didn't flash this file and my phone boot looped. I redid the flash with all 15 sparsechunk files and now my phone works on Android 11!
I haven't made any calls yet. Call quality has been absolutely abysmal with Boost thus far, presumably due to lack of WiFi calling.

Yes I have a moto g facking boost mobile. There is no way of sim unlock this thing. Only sprint can do it. I'm on the latest ResurrectionRemixOS. And is, thus, trust me on this, the only ROM that fits my needs. I can do all and stil boot it up. No issues.
I'm on the latest TWRP recovery. Like flashed on memory....
Oh yeah and im under T-Mobile APN downloads are 50mb+ EVERYWHERE.
Stock Rom from boost mobile is horrible
