Best windows 7 mobile phone - Windows Phone 7 General

Hi I am a big android fan but fancy a change sick of slow updates took me 6 month to get 2.2 fancy a Samsung omnia 7 but not sure what the best windows 7 mob is in the UK
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

your picks i believe are (and their advantages)...
omnia 7 = 4.0" SAMOLED screen
mozart = 8mp camera
trophy = nothing special, just an all rounder
HD7 = 4.3" (largest screen)
LG Optimus 7 = a lot of good LG apps (such as Google Goggles) and LG continually offers paid apps for free
LG Optimus 7Q = same as Optimus 7, but with a keyboard
note: don't take anything i say as gospel as i'm from australia, but this is what i get as general view from it all. as you can see i have a trophy, and i personally haven't been disappointed all that much even though i know it's the weakest windows phone about. of course there will be some disappointment in certain places, but overall i'm happy with a phone that is reasonably stable, smooth, and does all my day to day stuff and a bit more. things like bluetooth file transfer, though not in the phone, i rarely ever used anyways, so i don't mind it not being there, but others do.

LG Optimus 7 E900 is a great surprise to me.
Great device. And has gorilla glass on the screen

There is no such "Best" phone
What is best for me may not be for you
Said that my personal best would be the TP7 GSM

As the guy above said... but for me it's the Omnia 7.
It's got a good, solid build quality, a 4" SAMOLED screen that isn't too big or too small... not to mention amazingly clear and colourful, the camera is very good for 5Mpx and the camera button is a two-phase one (focus>capture).
My favourite little touch is the sliding cover for the USB port to keep dust out - little things like that do it for me

For Europe I would say the Omnia 7, because I think it's sexy and love SAMOLED. Iactually wish it was available in the U.S. instead of the Focus.
You may have a different opinion on the looks and screen tech though.

Again, it's personal opinion, but I love the Trophy. Perfect balance of features, great form factor and I think the screen looks miles better than SAMOLED. But again, it's up to you. Go to a store and have a play around

Personally, i went for the omnia 7 - the screen is just amazing!

I own Omnia 7, the screen is superb. Also, i think overall design is best among other wp7 phones.
But, i do hate search button, i wish it would be more hardware like.

Samsung Omnia 7!

Think after advice and research the omnia it is then thanks guys

Omnia 7 here too and I love it.
I cannot comment on the other models as this is the only WP7 handset I have used.
The Omnia's screen is fantastic, great colours. Build quality seems very good, I really like the metal casing. One advantage not listed is getting HD voice calls when in a 3G area. The difference in call quality was staggering when speaking to my sister on her Omnia 7.

The search button will become more useful as app makers start realizing it's there and overloading the functionality to be a searches in their respective applications.

I chose HTC 7 Mozart over Omnia 7.
Screen on Omnia is awesome, but it was too big for me being new to modern smartphones. And I quite do not like the edges/corners on Omnia, they arent smooth enough for my taste, so the phone looks even bigger

HD 7 is hands down my favorite. The huge screen makes all the difference if you ask me; The battery isn't as bad as people say either.

Wow I wont contribute to much to this thread, But IMO I think the DVP is the best device all around but ive only had experience with this phone. I played with the HD7 before I bought a WP7 and loved it. But i really wanted to try out the AMOLED screen in which the DVP offers. Screen has been awesome. Not sure what your looking in a phone. A lot of people have complained about the DVP camera I dont take many pics so thats not a deal breaker for me. But if you were looking at a DVP Dell has really sucked as far as customer service. Seems like nobody knows much about anything. But at least at pre launch. Nobody knew when it would be available and so much other stuff. You can do a search and find out what you MIGHT have to deal with when purchasing the DVP through Dell.
But overall the DVP is a very solid phone and build quality is A+. I told myself I wouldnt purchase another HTC device because of all of the issues ive had and what others have had, but that me until they clean up their act and give us a device which is groundbreaking overall. They seem to give us very minimum when new devices come out. LG has never been a fan of mines so it was never a choose for me. I would try a Samsung device but the only drawback was their build quality, nothing ive played with have felt solid, only drawback. I would have got the Asus device but it wasnt ready for launch but will give it a look when released. But thats my opinion, now you take everyones info and make a choice.
Last note: the Omnia 7 is a nice device but not available in the US, its cousin the Focus I didnt really like because of ATT. I wont go back to them so thats my drawback from them and its curved edges. Omnia 7 just looks better

I personally prefer the DVP just for the gorilla glass (I actually stabbed it with a ball point sad, kind of scared when I did it, but it held up) and curved screen (makes typing stuff a whole lot easier). I prefer AMOLED over Super AMOLED just because of over saturation on Super AMOLED. But...
The LG Optimus 7 is a beautifully designed phone and I wouldn't mind getting that phone for a variety of reasons.
I would go to a store and try out the phones yourself. You get more choices being in the UK so plus for you.

LG Optimus looks great, photos show nothing, it also has a great back.
And hardware buttons are great. Camera is good too.

The Best Windows Phone 7 is the one that you don't know about that is comming out the month after you get one...

I just tested both HD7 and Omnia 7. There is a big difference in screen and building material, while software is the same totally. I would prefer that HTC used the same materials as in HD2.
Omnia 7 is the winer.

I would say Omnia 7. I wouldn't use the DVP keyboard very much and it's HUGE. HD7 has horrible battery life. I'm personaly choosing between trophy and Omnia 7 :]
Omnia has better battery life than HD7, better screen. HD7 is too big for me and it's screen is only lcd... Shame...

Throw away your considerations of the Trophy and consider the Mozart If you think that the extra .1 inches in the Trophy's screen give it the advantage, you'll be sacrificing all of the following that the Mozart rules for:
-Build quality
-Camera
-Flash
-Overall sexiness
The Dell Venue Pro is kind of heavy, and the HD7 apparently has a weak battery. Being from the US, I haven't played around with the Omnia 7 and I don't like the Focus because of the cheap plastic employed. I actually want the LG Optimus 7 to come to the US. I like the look of it.

I got it and recommend it. Well built, nice design, good battery. Need to fiddle a bit to get a good picture in difficult light but generally I was really surprised how well it performs. Contrary to all LG fears and some negative reports the device is really good.
For me personally, the Omnia 7 is the clear winner. Not only due to the screen (which, let's face it, is a pretty big deal) but also because of the better camera, longer battery life and actual value add apps included compared with HTC's HD7.
The DVP was never really of much interest to me anyway as I don't need the physical keyboard (and if I did, it would be in landscape mode rather than portrait) but after finding out it only has 256MB of RAM I truly believe Dell has made a mistake with this handset. Perhaps not now, but once WP7 does multitasking I fear the amount of memory will play a large part.
Just to throw it out there, the LG Optimus is also a really good device though. Great value add apps and they throw in a bunch of free apps from the marketplace every so often. Camera is, I would say, better than the HTC's (any model) and it doesn't (just like the Samsung) utilize SD cards for storage - something which is proven to be faster.

you are the first person I've heard praise the samsung wp7 apps? what are they?
I know the hd7 has a flashlight app that actually uses the flash, the htc hub which gives you weather, stocks, (basically all the htc sense stuff), an audio equalizer app (didn't samsung just issue an ota update to change the diagnosis number so people will leave the sound level alone), the best youtube app out there (allows higher quality video over data connection), as well the attentive phone, notes...
Not flaming, just curious because I hadn't heard of any stellar samsung oem apps.

but the omnia 7 has only got 8gb now is that enough
Which country are you in?
We in germany got a bit lucky. Aside from the trophy each WP7 is available with 16GB. 8GB can be very little if you're a multimedia person.
The LG apps are very good especially the voice to text app. It's amazingly accurate in german and english.
im in the uk and we only get the 8gb version

maybe, maybe not depends on your needs. I have the 16gb hd7, and a 8gb phone would require some changes on my part (less podcasts synced, less videos on the phone at one time).
I don't think I would even consider a dvp until they can fix the wifi issue. Too many freezeups (the one big advantage wp7 has over winmo).

WP7 which phone should I buy today?

I'm thinking of HTC Mozart for its best (?) camera. But in "also like the LG Optimus 7th
Any suggestions?
Note: I live in Sweden and we only Have 4 devices to choose from, Htc Mozart, Trophy, LG Optimus 7 & the Samsung Omnia 7.
Thanks!
Im in the US and have had an HTC surround (similar to the other HTC devices) and am currently using a Samsung Focus (just like the Omnia 7 in a different shell), and I would say to go with the Omnia 7 just for the screen. Its amazing and the colors of the tiles really pop. I especially love how the black makes it blend into the bezel so you can see where the screen ends and the bezel begins

As someone who owns all the U.S. released devices I sincerely advise against HTC WP7 devices. They're typically slower than the others and have the worst battery life. That said it depends on what you're more concerned with. The Optimus 7 has amazing battery life and the Omnia 7 has a great screen. Whichever of those two is more important to you jump on that device.
Due to the onboard storage, the Omnia 7 is pretty much the fastest WP7 device out there at loading and resuming applications.
Very responsive touch screen as well.
The downsides? It's not upgradable, so you're stuck with the 8Gb storage space. Also, you get colour banding on fine gradients when you look at web pages and photos.
Personally, I love the device and wouldn't swap it for anything else. I can live with the smaller storage space.

I have to agree. The Omnia 7 is by far the best device in Europe with WP7. I had the HD7, the Mozart and LG E900. At least i got stuck with the Omnia 7 with 16 GB of Memory. Its well produced and looks way better than the ugly LG device. In terms of speed LG and Omnia 7 are equal. In case of OEM Apps LG outperforms HTC and Samsung by far.
Best way is to test the Devices yourself in store.
Thanks everyone, i liked the Htc Mozart but as you guys say, the battery life sucks and i've heard the display aint that good either.
LG Optimus 7 is kinda nice but i dont know.
The Omnia 7 is just so freaking ugly!! Don't you guys agree?
Don't know what to choose, great display or great battery?

The omnia 7 isn't that attractive but it holds together well. You dont have to worry about a 2 foot drop shattering your phones existence as you do with the mozart. The display on it is amazing especially in dark themes since the SAMOLED screens dont light up the black pixels at all and the battery life is nothing to complain about, just not as good as the optimus 7
I would go with the Omnia 7.
Excepting that I want more Memory - highly recommend my Omnia 7 - in balance the memory trade off is worth it (if you can find a 16 GB version I'd pay the extra if buying again).
Sent from my Omnia with only 8GB using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Omnia7:
it's the most beautiful WP7 device available, has the best screen and the best camera (Mozart may have more MP but the photos aren't good).
I use a program that's called Spotify, streaming music for 7$/month, it's coming to WP7 soon so i won't really need 16 GB storage.
I guess ill have to think about the Omnia 7 then.. haha
Thanks everyone!

wp7 is better designed for samoled (lots of black in the U.I) on othe lcd screens it does,nt looks tht good btw i own a samsung focus n my cousin hav a lg quantum n my phone looks far more better then my cousin,s lg ... (sorry for my bad english)
Omnia 7 for sure. If I were you I'd purchase it from Germany though as you can currently pick it up for around 2500,- rather than the 4000,- or even 5000,- they cost in Sweden. Not to mention you get 16GB instead of the standard 8GB.
Holy **** guys!
Omnia 7 looks like a piece of wood with a screen!
Take my advice.. Trophy 7 have the perfect screen size, it's beautiful and have a nice grip. Try it (;

I agree, the samsung omnia/ focus/ galaxy s line have all looked kinda cheap to me. Nice screen, but other than that, looks quite tacky.
From what I heard on the podcasts, the trophy has the bast camera of the wp7 line, so if that is what is important to you, get it.

Do a search on preis.de. I know some people have purchased from ES-Mobilefunk, but can't vouch for them myself. I've used mp3player.de which price matched the cheapest alternative on the list.
If you by insurance mean warranty I'm not sure - I do believe Samsung Sweden will honor a European wide warranty though, but check to make sure. If indeed you mean insurance, just insure it like you would any other handset.

You seriously cannot put the Omnia7 and the Focus in the same category. One is all plasticy and feels cheap while the other is all metal and feels real sturdy.
As for the Trophy having the better camera, well, it may be the best HTC has to offer, but that really doesn't say much considering how bad the HD7 is or how the Mozart doesn't really give better pictures with it's 8MP camera.

LG Optimus 7 overly underated

Its just my though on the whole thing but I believe the LG e900 is not been credited for what it really is. I've been through 2 Samsung wp7 phones Omnia 7 and Focus, also used the htc surround and the LG stacks up good if not better.
The sleekness the LG apps are simple the best. I was comparing the screen from the focus to the optimus 7 and the difference is really minimal. Its such a shame the internet reviews don't say how good this phone really is.
Next WP I'll be looking out for Nokia and LG

Do you tether with this phone? I'm currently waiting on a BB Torch, but if I feel it's a little to under-powered for what I am looking for, I'll likely be trading it in for either an Optimus 7 or a Nexus S.
With that said, I hate the Android UI compared to the WP7 (which I consider extremely good).
No, I thing the only way to tether is if you jailbreak.
Personally if your getting a phone for tethering purposes you should get the nexus. Blackberry ar kinda lame ATM.

While I do agree it's a great phone, and probably one of the best current WP7 devices on the market, I'm not sure how you can say the screen difference is minimal... the plain old LCD on the Optimus really looks washed out compared the AMOLED if you ask me.
Also most of the reviews for the LG that I've read have been very positive. It's just not a very "exciting" phone.

I own both devices, and I can say I prefer the Optimus 7.
Of course the Omnia 7 is beautiful, has a great S-AMOLED screen... but:
- The LG is more reliable (no update problems, no other bugs that I found on the Omnia 7).
- LG has 16GB storage, when my Omnia has only a pathetic outdated 8GB
- LG has DLNA
- LG has great specific apps: Scan Search, Metro Scan, Speech to Text, Panorama photos... Whereas Samsung apps are lame.
- LG has real physical buttons (this is great)
- LG has the best battery life.
So yes, I love this phone.
I bought my Samsung Omnia 7 whole two months ago and since day one till today it has never once crashed on me yet. I want to see it crash so that I can look, how it looks.
The Screen and with combination of Gorilla glass technology makes it look really premium phone and I have 16GB Memory phone, only 513USD from Expansys-USA.
No Updates Problem or anything for me, everything went smooth and in pace ..

The Optimus 7 has Gorilla Glass, too.
And no update problems? Microsoft halted all updates for the Omnia 7 for quite a while, because Samsung messed up the firmware. A friend received the February and NoDo update last week.
The best feature of the Optimus 7 is the built in registry editor. This makes it the ONLY Windows Phone that can be unlocked at every time without the need of a computer. It also makes unlocking future proof
The Samsung screens are better I must say.
I don't know what screen tech the optimus 7 uses but it way better than the HTC. Seriously its nowhere washed out. Moving on from the screen thou the build quality is soooo much better on the LG, the buttons are great the ohone is mostly metal unlike the plastic feel on focus. And as someone mention above, the LG apps are something to Wow about compare samgsung. I yes I do own both phones they're next to me right now.
( Get Samsung if your all abt the screen tech
( Get LG if you want a overall phone sleekness, apps no bugs etc.
P.s my focus refuses to connect to my pc just show up has unknown USB which is what lead me to the LG.

tether on LG phones is possibly the easiest of all current wp7 devices. you just need to bring out the MFG app and use it to change the port setting. doesn't involve jailbreaking or any zune hacking. you can also edit registry using that app.
i can't believe nobody mentioned this MFG app yet. greatest thing on wp7 ever.
one of the reasons the optimus 7 has sold badly because many of the initial units had defective bluetooth chipsets ... i actually just bought one a few weeks ago and it has the dodgy bluetooth as well (dead chipset)
waiting for lg to fix it (in the uk they initially tell customers its an ms bug !)
i looked at a hd7 optimus and omnia side by side the hd7s screen was dull in comparison to the others and seemed slower ... the samsung just a bit better and bigger
the samsung camera was way better
i got the lg as they were hugely discounting it (as opposed to samsung which would have been my choice)
I can only speak from one side of the fence here as I have owned my Omnia 7 since November last year. I haven't managed to have a play with an Optimus 7 either...
However given the choice I am not sure I would choose the Omnia 7 with the benefit of hindsight. I am still yet to receive the 7392 update and MS have given no indication of when Orange Omnia 7 customers are likely to get it either.
It is a real pain every time an update is released you have the worry about whether it is actually going to install or cause problems with your phone. (I was updated to a faulty bootloader).
Yes the hardware is fantastic, wonderful screen and nice sturdy metal chassis but that can only account for so much. Honestly given the choice of any handset at the moment the Optimus 7 would probably be the one I would seriously look at getting.
That has not been my experience. I originally had a lg optimus 7 that was sent for RMA twice and they didn't fix anything, eventually sold it. I got the samsung focus and love it so much more than the lg.
basically the quality of optimus 7 is generally poor compared to the samsungs
I hate LG phones from the bottom of my soul (LOL)
Build quality sucks as hell and it has too many touch bugs (my experience with others LG phones, not Optimus 7).
I have a Samsung Omnia 7 and before, I had a Samsung Wave S8500 (Bada).
I just LOVE the metal body of Samsung's phones and the Super AMOLED screens.
I have ZERO problems with updates and my Omnia 7 has 16gb internal memory too !!
I dont know how much LG price is, but if it costs same around 500USD for a piece like Samsung Omnia here in US, I would definitely buy Omnia than LG. I can wait if my Nodo is two weeks late.. as long as it is coming after two weeks.
When people compare these phones they forget to compare the price.
Put samsung on one side, put 500 dollars cash in middle, and than LG oval shaped phone..
Now look and see which one is better for same 500 dollars in middle.. press the power on button to get switch on the home screen if you are in doubt.. you will know the better choice.
$500? Well people in the UK must be in luck becus I paid £160 brand new compare to my focus that I paid £300 for. Not to mention my focus will no longer connect to my pc. My Lg plays music so much louder.
Can I say the Samsung screens really only look good at very bright settings put it on low n it looks crap ( In my eyes ) lol.
End of the day 2 good phones but focus not wort a full £140 extra in my case.

Picking your next Windows Phone... What is your priority feature?

Thought this might be interesting if I go by things I read on different threads.
This won't be the case but let's assume you can get any phone on any carrier and price isn't an issue.
How would you pick your next phone?
I allowed for multiple choice but try not to vote for 6 out of 8 or this won't teach us anything specific. And if you picked "Other", what did you have in mind?
Other: gyroscope support and > 1 GHz processor
My most important features: Screen size (less than 4"), Camera (high quality with dual led), and something not there build quality.
I am pretty much all in for the Nokia 800. Second choice is the Samsung Omnia W.
For me there has to be a hardware keyboard - I just hate capacitive touch keyboards.
Price, can't be more than $100 with no contract. And of course, significantly better than my LG Quantum, otherwise I have no reason to upgrade.
I LOVE massive phones, I went from my HD2, to an HD7, and if God would answer my prayers, the Titan would come to T-Mobile, though, soon enough it won't matter as I'm hoping we become AT&T. So, I voted for FFC since it's already a given to me that I'm going for a big phone. Screen type would probably be a close second for me, as I like the HD7 screen, but really wish it were a higher quality, but hey, I'm asking to be spoiled now, right?
It's odd to see one user out of two ready to buy a phone on its brand alone
I personally go for what I find better overall regardless of the OEM.

Yeah I guessed price would come up for many people as well as choice given by the carrier which is why I said in the first post regardless of price and availability

I personally love HTC, I know I'm probably in the current minority, for some odd reason as they're the only phones to consistently update without an issue, but Nokia is also winning over my heart.
I really want my Mozart to be my last HTC ever. But it's been my desire to abandon them since like 2005, and I still was forced to buy their stuff because others were mostly even worse.
In your list, it goes like this: screen less than 4", 16GB minimum (64 preferred), usable camera, 1500+ mAH battery. No pentile crap. Looks are also kind of important, but I can live with something less than stellar.
The leaks and announcements really make me sad, I don't see anything really attractive. SeaRay is almost there but it looks like it'll come with PenTile, so it's most probably a no go...
I'm with FiyaFleye, I like HTC and and have seen problems that would affect with other OEMS that I don't have with my Fuze. Nokia I have no idea on that but haven't had one in 4 yrs and it was a dumbphone. However not willing to wait another 3 months+ for them either. I would like a hardware keyboard with a smaller screen would be first choice, or go with a big screen so I can type well. Extra nick nacks are always a plus if they are usable, and 1 gig > processor for some future app usage is good too.
This list would have been so much easier in Aug before they started announcing phones, I'm just waiting for mine to come to the USA.
I'd love to get my hands on a Nokia WP7 phone, but that could take a while and the HTC Titan is kinda expensive over here.
I'll prolly just get a Samsung Omnia W if I get too impatient, really wanna see what the better CPU/GPU can do for my emulator.
Also I'd really like to see some 32GB storage phones, 8GB is just killing me on my Trophy.
1. Storage, it must be at least 32gb
2. Nokia
I will only consider getting a phone that isn't a nokia if the storage space is 32gb or above (and nokia only offer 16gb variants).
If storage space doesn't improve by the end of the year I will probably jump ship to android, even though I prefer Windows Phone my music collection is a must for me.
I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that the Nokia 800 will come in 16gb and 64gb variants like the N9 and thus will be my next phone (in blue )
Manufacturer is gonna come into play for my next WP7. IE i'm not having another Samsung phone.
I went with screen size. 3.5" ish would be good. Also, want good battery life. At least a 1500mah battery.
Funny how so few people picked FF Camera when it's supposed to be an epic fail not to have it since Apple "invented" video chat
I would have bought that Samsung Omnia 7 W like today if it came with 16 GB...

1. Storage...at least 32 GB
3. Camera quality
3. Screen quality
I don't know any one that actually uses the FFC...nothing but a gimmick.
I´m asking myself if I need a new WP in general...
My OMNIA 7 has all features I use daily (less DLNA and skype support).
So today I took a look at the new HTC devices:
1. HTC Omega is too small.
2. HTC Titan is too big for my taste.
The display is much better than the HD7 display but not even better than the OMNIA 7 display. Also the general quality of the phone is very good: less plastic parts and good working hardware buttons (compared with the HD7).
Do I need a HTC Titan 4.7" notebook in my pocket ? I don´t think so.
The upcoming OMNIA W will only have 8 GB, maybe 16GB... is this what I need ? I don´t think so either.
A general question is: Do I really need a FF cam ? How many videocalls I made in the past ? I only made normal voip calls...
I would say the only hope is that the NOKIA Empire strikes back... and I don´t think that the new devices will have more than 16 GB.
I hope that I´m wrong, but I think it´s better to wait 3 or 4 month before buying a new WP.
Regards
contable
I never thought I'd say this, but camera is my #1. Since everyone seems to be pinching pennies these days and both of my old 5MP point-and-shoots are just crappy, my phone has become my #1 camera for both stills and video. I remember when cameras first came out on cell phones and I was thinking, "why?" All that, and baby is now 12 weeks old, so I'm taking pictures like crazy!
Screen size is a close second. I doubt I could ever go smaller than my 4" Focus screen at this point.

Lumia 900 experience

Hi, I recently preordered my Lumia 900 on the 30th. I was able to play around with the 900 while doing so. I noticed a few things compared to my current DVP. I love the screen on my DVP and think it looks awesome some may differ. One thing I did notice about the Lumia 900 is that the screeen sensitivity and scrolling didnt seem as fast as my DVP. I can flick the screen of my DVP and it scrolls very fast through the homepage. Colors seemed to be a bit washed out to me not as much as the Titan imo. Some people differ. On the DVP the colors seem to be very vibrant and alive. Not sure if it was due to the color choose the owner had or what but I didnt care to much for it but it didnt detour my decision to buy it. The lumia 900 felt light to me after coming from a DVP, this thing is heavy. Lumia 900 was also thinner and felt great and solid in the hand.
Few things I didnt get to test out was the volume of mic, speakerphone, and headphone jack. Nokia has been known for their loud speakerphones but not sure if they brought that over to WP. Output of the headphone jack is important to me but at the same time not really because I have a headphone amplifier that increases the volume because I use the headphones a lot.
But on the other hand im satisfied and cant wait to get my 900. Cant wait to see what apps Nokia will come up with. Im looking for an audio eq app from Nokia that would be great for me using my headphones a lot. But im going to enjoy my Lumia until the Nokia superphone comes out to replace my 900. I hope Nokia comes back to the states and take over like they did before. I remember when Nokia was the phone to get and they had tones of third party accessories for differentiating phones to whatever you wanted.

as an ex dvp owner I tend to agree with you. The screen was pretty good, and the scrolling speeds were amazing. Only the Samsung focus was on par with display. While the scrolling speed of the 900 is not the same, don't equate scrolling speed with overall speed. The 900 blazes.
As far as weight. The dvp was heavy, but it was a good heavy for me. The 900 is heavy in comparison between apples and oranges, but, to me, it fits nicely in my hands and does have a very good balance.
Perhaps the scrolling speed will have an adjustment somewhere

You know the touch seemed to be more accurate on the 900 than the DVP. The DVP scroll speed is something I will miss but hopefully they will either have a fix or bring in a setting that can change this. When I did look in settings I didnt see anything that could change this but im moving on from the DVP, it will still be around if I dont like ATT service.
really, i have tried a lot of windows phone and have not seen that difference. I used a samsung focus, htc titan and tried the L900 that i too preordered but didnt notice this things.

everyone has something they like, or don't like, best. Unless you had a Venue Pro, you may not know what we're talking about. The vp's up and done scrolling was incredible. A single flick with your finger could send scrolling forever. I've been exposed to most first Gen phones, the VP was the best at that flick.
Its such a small thing. The 900 is not broken by any means. Its just that in comparison, the VP could take off.
No big deal at all...
For me; I think im going to love the screen on this phone. I love Nokias clearblack technology displays. I would get the n9 if it was the same size as the lumia 900 since it has android and meego. ive only had HTCs really and a few other devices. and HTCs screens tend to not be the best.. also their build quality of their recent phones (sensation/amaze). I have the amaze right now and I plan on trading or selling for the lumia 900 asap last windows phone I had was the HD7 and I liked it but it had build problems and crappy sound/washed out colors. ive actually never seen a Nokia smartphone before so im pretty excited.
Unlocked of course, since i'm on tmo

compared to an hd7, this thing is s beast. Don't get me wrong, the hd7 is pretty DSM hood. But it's the poster child for old, taking its chasis design from the hd2. My girlfriend still uses it. She'll be getting my focus s next week.
After enduring a year or so of android, build quality is on top for me, followed by reliability. Both thongs seriously lacking in android. before any android lovers scream, android is fine...if you like modding. Otherwise its second rate...imo . Its a great tablet platform...fire and xoom.
I'm crossing my fingers that Nokia and ms hit a homerun here.

You know I honestly loved modding my Windows mobile devices, but now after owning WP I dont even feel the need to mod anymores. Dont know because Ive grown older or what but I dont even feel the urge to mod the way I use to

I was thinking about that the other day. I too modded my winnow to no end. So aneroid was attractive. I think thechange for me came when I realized that aneroid is one big mod, and operators allow a certain amont of it just to survive. In my opinion its leading to a huge mess.
With windows phone, stuff works out of box. Apps work. I don't have to worry about which version or which driver, etc.
That's not to say I'm 100% happy with winphone. I wish a slightly more flexible color scheme was in place. I would love black on white tiles,or white on black combos. I'm sure other people have their thoughts. I don't need the operating system ripped apart, or apps hacked and tweeked just run. If it wont run right on my phone, I don't want it. But that's just me..
I personally think android is getting ready to break. Too many low quality phones...too many os varients. Ice cream sandwhich is a great hit, and what's next...jelly bean? Too many exposed parts...just my opinion. I spend a lot of money each year on phones. The 900 will be my fourth this year, plus a kindle fire. I just want my phone reliable. Right now that means iphone or windows phones. Just too many broken andy Rubin looking things running around.
my experience with android is allright, i have an hp touchpad that i put ics on it and made wonders, but kinda bricked my samsung vibrant. Android is cool but i could never use it as a daily driver. I cant wait for my pre ordered nokia lumia 900! currently using an htc titan and cant stand the video lag that occurs every once in a while. Never happened on my focus but happens on the titan all the time.
Just read the reviews of One X on verge and Engadget, that phone looks gorgeous. Lumia 900 also looks gorgeous but not sure about the low resolution display of the WP7. I'm pretty sure WP8 will support higher resolution displays but it always bugs me on the current WP phones. Hope MS pushes the next gen of WP OS pretty fast.
My wife has a Asus transformer with ice. I liked the change at first but the OS still lags and gives problems. Not liking that. Android is a big mess and I never liked the UI layout at all. To cluttered.

dude, the one series will be awesome, the phone to beat, if HTC can pull it off. I was an avid HTC user until most recently when the quality just tanked. They've promised to restore the quality and build less variants. We'll see. Last HTC phone I like was the nexus one. If HTC can dupe that, winner!
But windows phone is mine now!!

back in 2010 it was my favorite phone, it was one of the best choices. I only had it for a few months before I traded for the atrix + $70 and was full of regret. yeah build quality with android devices is a huge problem. HTC just release the one s/x and they have really good build (looks like they copied a bit from nokia). but im tired of androids fragmentation. and the lumia 900 is really cheap for a new phone considering my amaze still sells for $400 on ebay which is ridiculous so im probably just going to trade.
yeah, android isn't bad I just don't use half of the features and I miss the super smooth-ness of wp7 and all the integrated Microsoft stuff.
apparently its the #1 selling phone right now
